- OK, I've wanted to put a skin on my Steam Deck ever since I got the Steam Deck. Not only do skins make your Steam Deck look awesome they also have a functional purpose too, they protect your precious system against scratches and minor bumps.
JSAUX sent us over their latest skins to test out, despite receiving the sample this is now a paid review or sponsorship, all opinions are my own as always.

The best way to deal with this skin is to order skin of your choose & add jsaux modcase. Now, you put only front (and easiest) part of the skin on the deck, plus joypad & L4-R6 buttons and ditch the back skin. And then put a modcase on it. Now you have perfectly protected steamdeck with grippy hold (thanks to case) and good looking front thanks to skin. And no problems with tearing down device :)
take an exacto knife and cut along the steam deck seam thru the skin... that is what i did so i didnt have to take it off.

IMO the best application for a skin is on your phone's back glass. I fell into this trap with my launch Nintendo Switch. The wrap around skins are so annoying and never fit perfect. corners bunch up even with a hairdryer. it will eventually peel too.

I wish there are more skins for buttons. I've seen a video the man uses gun grip on d-pad, that's a cool idea.
You sure he didnât just swap out buttons?
It looks like you just didnt get a verry good skin. Id recommend d brand or luxskins. They voth have screw holes wich actually are verry important for making it easy to get the alignment righ. And min came out great with pretty much no issues. Its also weird that the skin you got had the back and top as part if the same sticker. Most skins i see have them seperate with only the botom being attached to the back skin. This makes it a lot easier for things to lune up and avoid stretching. U also find that when applying the skin its better to use the micro fiber cloth from the middle and slowly making your way outwards to get a smooth application with no aur bubbles
Yep, agreed, fully aware there are better skins out there. This is a review of this particular skin the company sent to me, which is why I pulled up these issues Vs other skins.

You could also... just cut out holes for the screws. And if you're putting on a new colourful back plate you probably want the sticker off anyway?

I just threw on a case and a screen protector. Done. That's gtood enough. These skins do NOT work well enough around the curves. They will absolutely peel up over time. The dBrand skins fit much better than this but they have the same crinkling issues around the curves.
I just use my devices. If they do happen to get used looking, who cares.
Um i wish i could post pictures... guys listen... stickers are stupid cheep, i just got 300 space and skull type stickers off amazon for 1 dollar. Take some scissors.. pick out your fav ones, that what i did, i change them randomly... my deck always looks sick..
I just bought 150pieces of stickers too. I thought about sticking it on cases but not the deck itself.
Will it leave sticky residue on the deck if I leave it on for long time?

â@@Hesk100it will be sticky, but thats no huge problem. You can clean that but be carful not to make any scratches
What I found to help smooth out the edges is to use the edges of a lotion tube or a credit card & then the blow dryer for the final pressure.
Took me about 10 minutes to apply the front & Iâm doing the back now.
Only peel half of the skin off the paper then ripped the paper off in half then apply but donât press down on the skin yet.
Now peel the other half of the paper off & apply the other half.
Once everything is in place use the edge of the lotion tube or credit card to smooth everything down, then heat. Do this for both the front in back & it will save you time with bubbles ðŦ§
I donât plan on removing my backplate so I donât care about the skin. I just donât care for the all black deck so to be able to customize it like I did with my Series X with a skin & a hard case is good enough for me lol plus they sent me two skins, so if anything I can just reapply it.
