These are the BEST STEAM DECK ACCESSORIES that are available in June 2023. I tried so many accessories, you have no idea, and most of them are horrible. Here are some from companies I trust and think could benefit most people.
NOTE - The Jsaux Modcase does not use any magnets to hold the powerbank, it simply uses the provided strap - sorry for the confusion.
Disclaimer: Some of the items in the video were provided from the companies as a review unit - no exchange of money was done and no guarantee of a good review was promised, this is a no tolerance policy I have with companies who reach out to me, and will continue to have in the future. The links provided in the description will be mostly Amazon affiliate links, which helps support the channel and myself and costs nothing extra to use - thank you for using them!

Note: I made an oopsie woopsie when talking about the Mod case. There is no magnets involved in holding the power bank, it is only using the provided strap. My original script had it saying “it feels stronger than a magnet” but something got mixed up 😂 my bad
Modcases fan attachment is interesting and provides air directly to the unit. I don't use it because it is very loud. Maybe if I have it docked one day.
This is the first video I’ve found that shows how much of the air intake the Baseus power bank blocks. Which is not much. Now I’ve watched this I might get the mod case.
Jason, you said with a proper cable it helps charging. Is the cable that comes with the 65W pack you provided good enough or do you suggest another cable?
i wonder if steam could install thermal electric parts to the steam deck to make the battery last longer, basically what this tech does is it converts the heat the device already creates back into useful power that goes back into the battery, because otherwise it's just waste heat anyway, it's not going to power your device a whole lot, but it will at least help it not run out so damn quickly.
but the thermal electric tech would have to be put within the heat sink somehow as that's where we want the heat to go anyway to help regulate the device temps.
Attaching the powerbank to the Deck is not the best idea anyway.🤔 The added weight is uncomfortable. A better idea is using a very flexible, silicone power cable. It allows the powerbank to stay in your bag (because on the go you always have a bag) without the cable causing any discomfort. 😉
Anker has always been my go to brand for power banks. Actually have 1 smaller one made by PNY that I have had for at least 15 years and it still works great also.
Thank you. That was a detailed list with lots of options and was pretty informative. You've convinced me to go with the mod case over the Killswitch.
Sir, I am just watching this. I love it. Especially the part about the cargo shorts. My Wife looked at me and asked, "Why is he talking about you like that?" And laughs. Love it!
Hahahaha thanks for watching!
man, i been searhing for hours a good vid abt accesories to steam deck i plan to buy and you got all the good stuff i been looking for. What a life saver
Im amazed about the quality of this video. You were absolutely spot on! One of the best videos I watched in a while. You also made me really curious about the cooling pad video. I'll watch it
I've been thinking about getting a Steam Deck myself. Thank you for giving me some ideas for accessories for whenever I get it.
an accessory I wanna see is a "toughbook" style shell that adds rubber gaskets around the joysticks, buttons etc as well as covers over the usb-c etc and a membrane of some kind on the fan ports, that could be a real gamechanger to those that are outdoorsy, on the road, in the military or otherwise need a toughbook
I really don't know anyone other than you apparently that wants to take this thing out in the wilderness where you could potentially destroy your $400+ gaming console.
@@Zer0Mood people take toughbook laptops that cost a whole lot more into hostile environments all the time
@@anthonywilliams379 yeah because they're actually using them for their intended use... which isn't gaming. Its a rugged, go anywhere laptop. The military are probably calling in airstrikes and laser designating targets. They're not sitting out there playing Cyberpunk and Hogwarts 🤣🤣
@@4RMS7TRONGSomeone's never been to /g/.
Most useful video I’ve ever seen about the deck, great work!
This is kinda relaxing to watch and listen to. Thanks buddy.
Hands down the most underrated channel on TH-cam! Very entertaining and helpful at the same time! You’re a hidden gem Jason! I’ve never subscribed so quickly in my life.
Keep it up brother☝🏻🔥
Wow thanks for your support! 🙏
Actually had the same feeling :) Liked, subscribed, wishing all the best for your channel, apprecite your content
Thank you Jason! Great review! 👍
This is a great accessory’s video! Definitely couldn’t hurt to try a budget friendly steam deck desktop build for anyone with or planning on using the deck as a dedicated desktop
That sounds fun actually…maybe I’ll make a vid on it 😏😏
@@JasonWitmerYT awesome maybe I’ll watch it 🙃 my deck is my dedicated desktop at the moment
Woah that’s awesome! Love to see it
@@JasonWitmerYT I’ll try to get some pictures up somewhere to show it off!
want to use the steamdeck as a replacement for my switch and the fact that you can dock it helps me out with that a lot
Thank you i have been looking for all of the above sans the bag, but now i may get one.
This is literally everything I wanted to know about the steam deck great video
I wish I could like videos multiple times. Loved your content, mate! Keep it up!
Yes, I'm wearing cargo shorts! 😆
Great video! Thanks Jason!
Thank you for these recommendations good sir. You are a gentleman and a scholar.
Pretty useful video! Thx Jason!
That bag where you can store both the switch and the deck is what I needed. Thanks!
It’s perfect for us when we travel haha cheers!
Fantastic video, thank you for all the detail you provide regarding the accessories for the Deck. I am new to the Steam Deck world.
Great video man thank you so much for your recommendations! Have a steam deck OLED on the way and I'll definitely be grabbing some of these.
The last thing you showed, thumbstick caps….
What’s even better than those are the ones from Skull & Co. very useful for getting more control and radius for when you’re playing competitive FPS games. Highly recommended!!
Bruh one of the best videos on the steam deck on the tube. You earned a subscriber!
Just wat i was looking for XD! thanks for sharing
It’s very useful! Thank you for sharing!!
appreciate this video man. I've been using my steam deck for a month and I'm looking to upgrade some of its accessories.
I'd really suggest checking out thingiverse and picking up the file for a power brick insert that fits in the back of the deck case and acts as a stand. There was even one made for the US plug with micro SD slots. I've previously used 3d hubs to get stuff 3d printed for me, but use whatever service you like.
Great flow in the video and awesome recommendations! Thanks!!
Thanks! Nice job Jason. Funny and informative I hope you do well. Ty
Thanks so much Allen 🙏
good job on the video, i was looking for some unique accessories for my steam deck, I also like the Mod Case can't wait to try it with the powerbank good portable solution for batteries
Thanks for sharing this great video with all the Kool accessories as well!
Great tips and products in this video!Glad I discovered this channel. Just got my Steam Deck (refurb 256 GB) and a Samsung Evo Select 512 GB SD Card. So far the SD card is slightly slower loading games than the SSD, but not much. And games like “Cyberpunk 2077”, “Elden Ring”, and “One Piece Odyssey” run great on it. (Looking at the card it is an A2 but was only $35 on Amazon).
That's awesome to hear! I'm actually really glad to know the games don't run any slower on a microSD card and only launch slower. I had no idea that's how it worked, since I'm a complete newbie to technical specifications.
Super chill and informative Video, youre a cool guy
what a great video. easy to listen to, informative. Thanks
I'm literally in my room wearing cargo shorts 😂😂😭😭
Thanks for this. Love your sense of humor.
Also you try changing your fps to fix that led flicker. Usually 30 or 60fps will fix it.
Really informative video! Subscribed! You explain nicely and lightly
The bag is amazing btw, I don't just use it for the steam deck I also use it as my main college bag
TY for this!
Don't usually watch these videos for the personality of the content creator but this dudes funny as hell.
What a relaxing vibe haha
Skull & Co thumb grips for the sticks is the first accessory you need to buy for your Steam Deck. Especially if you play 3d action games
Very good content, I love the humor in your video and love the recommendations. I personally have the TomToc bag for Steam Deck which I feel I better than the JSAUX one you recommended but everyone has there own particular needs. You've earn a new subscriber.
That’s a great bag too! Thanks for your support
Great video! Keep up the good work!
Came for info, staying for jokes, you're funny man! Loved the video
Nice video - just bought multiple items with your links. Ty :)
Awesome, thank you! Glad you enjoyed!
lol great vid. Love your humor
Does the Deck with the Mod Case on fit in JSAUX’s dock? I was looking at the Mod Case with the hub attachment, but I don’t really want to spend that extra $50 if I don’t really need to.
You've earned my like when you said "you're watching this video, so I'll assume you wear cargo pants". I actually don't, but thanks for the consideration 😂
Thanks for showing the powerbank on the modcase
I gotta say, you do a super great job with these video! Your voice is really great as well. Keep up the awesome work!
Thank you 🙏
Can confirm the cargo shorts.
I am waiting long term about Jsaux back plate with the thermal pad if doing more harm then good. There little channel on the heat shield on the steam deck that let some more air flow from the area be pulled away, but I do like the back buttons changeable that comes with it.
Excellent video, and I'm still laughing about the too-accurate ****-talking about cargo shorts 😅
first time seeing your channel and Im gonna sub , such a good and info rich video and very chill and funny thank you for making this video , and thank you for being you
Thank you for the support 🙏
Good job man! 🎉
Informative, concise, and humorous without feeling forced. Excellent video!
Wow the honesty all over the place , also the comedy was top notch 😂
I will push back on the dock section, I have a couple decent quality usb-c hubs that can do up to 4k60 HDMI, and while both will output video, none of them would work with audio. It always still came out of the console. Even after going into desktop mode & changing audio output, it didn't like any of it. I've read many many people have the same issues, and JSAUX or Valve dock has the right digital innards to make things work properly. If it keeps me from having to go into desktop mode & manually changing inputs every time, the Valve dock is worth it imo 👍🏻
*edit - plus it's Valve summer sale time so it's on sale!
Thank you for this video
BRO THANK YOU SO MUCH
cargo shorts joke was a low blow man hahahaha
Little late to the show, but. Have you tested the deckmate? I've been wondering if i prefer to get that instead of the case you show with the strap, as I want it for the same purpose (strapping a Powerbank/external SSD)
Although thats literally whats happening here got me!! Subbed!
"You own a Steam Deck, or you have one coming soon..."
immediately I'm like "This is a smart TH-camr lol, he knows exactly why people would land on this video"
To be fair most people would only watch this if they are remotely interested in steam deck accessories so yeah it makes sense lol
Good video. Really helpful info and thank you for talking like a normal person instead of yelling at me.
Thanks for the kind words! You know TH-cam is in shambles when every other content creator treats you like a child by yelling at you 😔
I have that 65w baseus battery and can attest IT IS AMAZING. It charges my phone, and other accesories SO FAST. Get it. Its good.
This video is so quick, concise, informative yet is such a vibe. What's the name of the background music? It's really nice!
Gotta love that!
Question about this screen protector for jsaux.. What if you have the etch screen gig i got with the 512?..
You leave my cargo shorts alone
Thank you!
Cool vid thanks 👍🏾
Currently waiting on my steam deck to arrive and been checking out what accessories i need for this thing as i'll be using it when travelling.
Thx for comprehensive and informative video!
That’s awesome! Thanks for your support, you’re gonna love it!
i love this, i feel youre very honest, not like 98% of youtube anymore, thanks for the video :)
I appreciate that! 🙏
I got a 64GB Deck and bought a 512GB Samsung MicroSD card that works great. A few months later I swapped the SSD with a 512GB Samsung SSD. Behind that, I also have a 256GB MicroSD that I keep in my case that has Windows installed on it. So if there's ever a game I want to play that doesn't work on Linux I can just pop in the MicroSD and fire up Windows. I keep mine in a MicroSD to standard SD card adapter that is VHB taped to the little air pocket inside the Decks case. Has been there for about 6 months and is rock solid, it's a great solution.
I also take my Deck on the go more than most. It's awesome to play the deck at night near the fire when camping. Or bring a hammock to the park and play on a nice day. I highly recommend a Matte screen protector. You do lose a little sharpness, but if you actually take your Steam Deck outside it's a necessity (unless you have the 512GB variant.)
I have the rectangular 30,000 Baseus PD Power Bank and it's awesome. But I wish I sprung for the more expensive flat 20,000 Baseus version. It's less capacity but I'm fine with that, the form factor looks much better.
Lastly, I use a similar charger to the one in the video with one of the 90 degree USB C adapters. I also use an Anker USB C cable that is much softer and more flexible than any other cable I've ever seen. It makes it much more manageable to use while plugged in. Similar idea to gaming mice that use the Paracord style cables. It's great.
Sounds like an awesome setup! Glad you're loving your Steam Deck!
I bought a steamdeck to bring to my grandkiddo's house so I can play games with them. Love it!
I felt both called out and seen by that cargo shorts comment sir. 😅😅😅
The only accessory I currently have is a dock. I just made sure it had ethernet, HDMI and USB 3.0 ports, there were some that had only usb 2.0 or a 3.0 port and 1-2 2.0 ports. Mine has 3 3.0 ports which is all you could ever need, I also do have a USB extension that belonged to my late step-dad. It has 10 USB ports a USB connection with a 20 inch cable and it's own built In power switch.
Subscribed, my new favorite tech reviewer.
Cheers mate 🙏
By the way, for anybody curious for what the music is in the background, it is "Way Home" by Tokyo Music Walker. Anyway, this is a great video! Love it!
Since you are able to poke fun at yourself, I don't need to. Well done. :)
The form-fitting comment had me ROLLING! Thanks for the suggestions, I appreciate you.
It would be interesting to see the clear backing with the thermal pads paired with a fan placed directly over that spot to see if it dissipates heat better.
I'd be very keen to see that video!
Just started getting into EDC bags and have really liked all the products I've picked up from Tomtoc recently. They have been very good for the price, so I'll be checking out this Steam Deck case too. Thanks.
Great video! Subbed!
In regards to the Jsaux carry bag. Do you know if it will accommodate the Dbrand Killswitch with or without the travel cover attached? The killswitch 2.0 (no magnet) version that is. Thanks
Yep it’ll fit!
Some pretty interesting accessories!!
i have the battery strap on setup and i prefer a 100w, 10' cable with a 65w charger
7:06 Travel charger. I'm still looking for a travel charger/dock station that would allow me to play the Steam Deck using a portable monitor via USB-C connection for larger screen and the external monitor won't suck the power out of the battery. Is there such charger available to power both the Steam Deck and the portable monitor simultaneously to a wall outlet? The portable monitor that I have (Asus ZenScreen MB16AC) for the laptop also works directly with the Steam Deck however it's receiving power from the Steam Deck. The ZenScreen portable monitor only has one USB-C port, which means data and power delivery are supplied over the same USB-C.,
thanks jason!
What strap are you using to hold the battery bank on the back of the Steam Deck?
That is how the mod case holds it on actually! I said magnet but I meant strap haha. Comes with the mod case
You're right...I do wear cargo shorts! 😂😂
Great video. Though I just saw an ad about an orange juice bottle next to cereal and now my tongue is traumatized just from imagining the taste. Great video none the less.
"And honestly you're watching this video so you probably do wear cargo shorts" 😂😂😂 deserved a like and a comment, big ups on the vid bro.
do you have a power bank that acts as a usb hub too? i dont like the idea of having two separate devices
After watching this I'll be buying cargo shorts.
Excellent video, subscribed
Earned a sub! Funny and informative info! Thanks
