Note: I made an oopsie woopsie when talking about the Mod case. There is no magnets involved in holding the power bank, it is only using the provided strap. My original script had it saying “it feels stronger than a magnet” but something got mixed up 😂 my bad
Modcases fan attachment is interesting and provides air directly to the unit. I don't use it because it is very loud. Maybe if I have it docked one day.
This is the first video I’ve found that shows how much of the air intake the Baseus power bank blocks. Which is not much. Now I’ve watched this I might get the mod case.
Jason, you said with a proper cable it helps charging. Is the cable that comes with the 65W pack you provided good enough or do you suggest another cable?
i wonder if steam could install thermal electric parts to the steam deck to make the battery last longer, basically what this tech does is it converts the heat the device already creates back into useful power that goes back into the battery, because otherwise it's just waste heat anyway, it's not going to power your device a whole lot, but it will at least help it not run out so damn quickly. but the thermal electric tech would have to be put within the heat sink somehow as that's where we want the heat to go anyway to help regulate the device temps.
Attaching the powerbank to the Deck is not the best idea anyway.🤔 The added weight is uncomfortable. A better idea is using a very flexible, silicone power cable. It allows the powerbank to stay in your bag (because on the go you always have a bag) without the cable causing any discomfort. 😉
Anker has always been my go to brand for power banks. Actually have 1 smaller one made by PNY that I have had for at least 15 years and it still works great also.
Im amazed about the quality of this video. You were absolutely spot on! One of the best videos I watched in a while. You also made me really curious about the cooling pad video. I'll watch it
an accessory I wanna see is a "toughbook" style shell that adds rubber gaskets around the joysticks, buttons etc as well as covers over the usb-c etc and a membrane of some kind on the fan ports, that could be a real gamechanger to those that are outdoorsy, on the road, in the military or otherwise need a toughbook
I really don't know anyone other than you apparently that wants to take this thing out in the wilderness where you could potentially destroy your $400+ gaming console.
@@Shadow_Hawk_Streaming yeah because they're actually using them for their intended use... which isn't gaming. Its a rugged, go anywhere laptop. The military are probably calling in airstrikes and laser designating targets. They're not sitting out there playing Cyberpunk and Hogwarts 🤣🤣

Man ! You just got yourself a new subscriber, great video ! I like that you are not overhyped over all the accessories like others TH-camrs but still keep a friendly way to recommend or not
I got a 64GB Deck and bought a 512GB Samsung MicroSD card that works great. A few months later I swapped the SSD with a 512GB Samsung SSD. Behind that, I also have a 256GB MicroSD that I keep in my case that has Windows installed on it. So if there's ever a game I want to play that doesn't work on Linux I can just pop in the MicroSD and fire up Windows. I keep mine in a MicroSD to standard SD card adapter that is VHB taped to the little air pocket inside the Decks case. Has been there for about 6 months and is rock solid, it's a great solution. I also take my Deck on the go more than most. It's awesome to play the deck at night near the fire when camping. Or bring a hammock to the park and play on a nice day. I highly recommend a Matte screen protector. You do lose a little sharpness, but if you actually take your Steam Deck outside it's a necessity (unless you have the 512GB variant.) I have the rectangular 30,000 Baseus PD Power Bank and it's awesome. But I wish I sprung for the more expensive flat 20,000 Baseus version. It's less capacity but I'm fine with that, the form factor looks much better. Lastly, I use a similar charger to the one in the video with one of the 90 degree USB C adapters. I also use an Anker USB C cable that is much softer and more flexible than any other cable I've ever seen. It makes it much more manageable to use while plugged in. Similar idea to gaming mice that use the Paracord style cables. It's great.
I'd really suggest checking out thingiverse and picking up the file for a power brick insert that fits in the back of the deck case and acts as a stand. There was even one made for the US plug with micro SD slots. I've previously used 3d hubs to get stuff 3d printed for me, but use whatever service you like.
don't have a steam deck nor do i plan on getting one but I still enjoyed watching the video, you seem like a chill and most importantly honest creator.
You've earned my like when you said "you're watching this video, so I'll assume you wear cargo pants". I actually don't, but thanks for the consideration 😂
Great tips and products in this video!Glad I discovered this channel. Just got my Steam Deck (refurb 256 GB) and a Samsung Evo Select 512 GB SD Card. So far the SD card is slightly slower loading games than the SSD, but not much. And games like “Cyberpunk 2077”, “Elden Ring”, and “One Piece Odyssey” run great on it. (Looking at the card it is an A2 but was only $35 on Amazon).
That's awesome to hear! I'm actually really glad to know the games don't run any slower on a microSD card and only launch slower. I had no idea that's how it worked, since I'm a complete newbie to technical specifications.
5:35 Female viewers are also here to get advice on steamdeck accessories. And since my style is more yoga pants or leggings, this more thin and square like Baseus is def more of my thing. I'd take it with my purse or Tomtoc bag as an upgrade to my old cellphone power banks. Cheers for the advice!
Great video. Though I just saw an ad about an orange juice bottle next to cereal and now my tongue is traumatized just from imagining the taste. Great video none the less.
The only accessory I currently have is a dock. I just made sure it had ethernet, HDMI and USB 3.0 ports, there were some that had only usb 2.0 or a 3.0 port and 1-2 2.0 ports. Mine has 3 3.0 ports which is all you could ever need, I also do have a USB extension that belonged to my late step-dad. It has 10 USB ports a USB connection with a 20 inch cable and it's own built In power switch.
"You own a Steam Deck, or you have one coming soon..." immediately I'm like "This is a smart TH-camr lol, he knows exactly why people would land on this video"
I came here to watch cool accessories for the steam deck as I will be purchasing one for myself for Christmas….while doing so I got roasted by the content creator for wearing cargo shorts…. You just earned a sub…
By the way, for anybody curious for what the music is in the background, it is "Way Home" by Tokyo Music Walker. Anyway, this is a great video! Love it!
Just got mine with 20% off :D This thing can run RDR2 and CyberPunk better than my PC haha! Battery life is impressive too. Best purchase ever! Getting used to the controls is still taking a bit of time, but other than that, great!
It would be interesting to see the clear backing with the thermal pads paired with a fan placed directly over that spot to see if it dissipates heat better.
If you have a 3d printer, JSAUX gives out the model for the back clip for the case, to do pretty much whatever ya want with it. Currently have a usb dock holder, that also holds an external nvme, and is also a stand. (Because the one that comes won't work with my external on.) But somethin to think about. 😄
Very good content, I love the humor in your video and love the recommendations. I personally have the TomToc bag for Steam Deck which I feel I better than the JSAUX one you recommended but everyone has there own particular needs. You've earn a new subscriber.
Another good reason to use the angled USB-C adapters is to save wear and tear on your Steam Deck's USB-C port. USB development has come a long way since the mini-USB, but they will still wear out over time, especially with the added strain of a cable sticking straight up into the air all the time. Having a USB port start to wear out and get loose is a horrible experience. Thats why I only use a wireless charging pad at night for my phone and why I will buy a magnetically attached USB-C adapter for stuff like tablets, so the charging port will always stay mated with a USB and you can just pull on the magnetic part to disconnect the cable from it. All connectors have lifespans. Regular USB-C are rated for anywhere between 1,500-10,000 cycles. So if you plan on keeping something for a long time look for ways to limit use of the charging port.
Great vid! Can you link to the specific skin that you’re using? I didn’t see a white one like yours without any white at the top and bottom of the screen or on the grips. I like the look of yours a lot.
Thanks! I ordered this one but just didn’t apply all of it haha. I liked the two tone look. So any all white one will work and then just don’t apply some of it amzn.to/3OMQfoT
I'm just watching this video because I just bought a Steamdeck. Thanks for all the great info. One question about the bag. Will it hold an iPad mini and a Kindle where you showed the Switch was stored? Thanks!
Anker is a solid brand too, just got their 737 power bank, and the only thing I could have wished for is around 27k instead of the 24k mah. Sadly it was replacing an old Anker almost 27k mah battery that randomly died but got me through a 12hr power outage before(not just for the deck). Doesn't admittedly speak well for them, but I only hope it's my bad luck as I know others have had plenty of good experience with them.
good job on the video, i was looking for some unique accessories for my steam deck, I also like the Mod Case can't wait to try it with the powerbank good portable solution for batteries
I got a dock for 13$ on Amazon. it's nuts I found that. It works really well. I really should upgrade my storage I have like 100 more games since I bought this thing. Im probably gonna do the 3.5 TB build. 1.5 tb micro sd and 2 tb ssd.
