I was blown away when I saw you set up the sterile field (back table) which is what surg techs typically do where I'm at, I tried to help out in the past but ended up being more of a hindrance than a help to the techs. Circulating isn't easy having to chart, bring in pts, call spd for supplies, pre-op checks, pacu/post-op hand off, wait for surgeon to come in and hope they aren't too late, specimen handling, properly position pt on the table, assist crna/anesthesiologist with intubation, get meds from pharmacy, transport pt and the list goes on😂
You’re able to wear your scrubs from home including your jacket in the OR? We can’t even go the the nurses station with clothes from home. Have to change into scrubs provided by the facility which I hate! Thanks for the video!
I’m interested in becoming an RNFA. Being that most people don’t even know what that is, there isn’t much information available. I’m hearing they aren’t really using RNFA’s in the OR anymore. I’m hearing that surgical PA’s are used instead. I don’t want to do all of this schooling and not be able to find a job after. Do you know and RNFA’s and can you get their prospective if that’s not too much to ask? Thank you
🙂I appreciate that very much! Yes, there have been times that I was floated to other floors. I have a med surg background, but we also have several different ORs in my facility so if they are short they send us there first.
You make it all seem so easy. Im sure your coworkers, surgeons as well as the patients really appreciate you. You are thorough and very knowledgeable.
