Another reason for a light backpack is that you don't need to wait to check-in to your hotel before start exploring the area. You can just go and explore with your backpack whereas with the trolley, it is not so easy or practical.

Another reason for choosing similar palate for clothes ... I avoid whites and light colored clothes for many reasons -- darker colors are more forgiving in a pinch and if doing laundry you can put everything in one quick wash load. Sounds dumb, but being able to do one quick load of laundry is faster and cheaper.

I find it's what you wear up top that absorbs/reflects most of the heat; unless you're just sitting around, in which case you should be doing that in the shade or wearing swimmers if it's hot.
And if you're wearing pants when it's really hot you're doing it wrong (even in conservative countries - wear skirts or dresses).

I'm very glad you mention your EpiPen. We always see "valid/healthy peoples" doing minimalist content and never take medicines or medical stuffs except an emergency kit.
You can have health troubles and travel, and travel light too.
Ofc speaking of health you need what you need and don't try to cut down your health needs to fit it in a carry-ons only in trade for your health quality or confort.

As a chronic overpacker, I did international travel last year with one bag and it was *amazing*. It was so freeing to not have to wait at the airport for my checked luggage, I had extra room to bring back gifts if I wanted, and, most importantly, I was able to bring medications and other items to help with my chronic health conditions, without the worry of some things not being easily accessible or available in another country. It really brought peace of mind and allowed me to enjoy my trip much more while still being comfortable!
And I definitely didn’t have just the absolute basics - I could easily bring luxuries (my switch, my iPad, my computer, etc.), even with having about 1/3 of my weight and space dedicated to prescriptions and other medical supplies.
I highly recommend it! I love this video, your thoughts and reasoning behind each product made so much sense and I am super happy to see it! I love your minimalist-specific tips, I think I did overpack somewhat, even with only one bag, so I’m going to look better at my setup and take your advice to cut down :)

If you are just getting started shrinking your travel gear:
Take a notepad or use the notepad app on your phone to write down your „lessons learned“ from your trip. Write down what items you brought but never used. Chances are those were mainly your „just in case“ items. Write down what items you really would have needed but didn’t bring. And make sure this happens each time you think „Geez, I really wish I had brought item XYZ“. Do that while you are on the trip and the impression is still fresh in your mind. You won’t remember 98% of it 2 weeks after the fact.
Then rigorously toss out items you did not use. Put them on a pile and visualize how much space you wasted and how much dead weight you schlepped around. And then make a really careful executive decision whether the weight and bulk is worth it. As the saying goes among seasoned backpackers….ounces become pounds, and pounds become pain. Similarly, make sure that the item(s) you missed are on your next packing list.
    Rinse and repeat. This isn’t a one-and-done thing, it’s a gradual process
This requires some level of discipline and honesty with yourself. But it will help you, believe me.
You might even be surprised how much pointless crap you were hauling around. I have certainly been guilty of that and had a learning curve.
For instance, I do a lot of photography. I do photo jobs for conferences. For a good while, I traveled with two camera bodies and about 5 lenses, plus all the other stuff like memory cards, chargers, batteries etc. This was no fun at all and I actually threw my back out once with that behemoth of a camera bag (which also holds my laptop).
Instead of bringing a 50mm prime, a 28-70, a 70-200, a 16-35 and a 135mm prime, a tripod, speedlight plus batteries, harness and two camera bodies (a.k.a. Everything bar the kitchen sink), I now travel with one camera body, a 85mm prime, the 70-200 and a cheap 16-50mm kit lens, no tripod, one spare battery and a shoulder strap. This was plenty enough and saved several kilos.
Instead of bringing the dedicated charger for the camera battery, I can use my USB-C phone charger to top up the battery inside the camera. Another few ounces and a few cubic inches saved. It’s those little things that when combined really make a difference.

Over the course of two decades of travel, my checklist hasn't changed much. Same toiletries (not liquid), same pullover/sweater, and/or same coat (depending on weather). Keep it as simple as possible. Instead of Evernote, I just use the already loaded notes app on my phone, plus I can change colors, add bold or italicize. It allows me check and uncheck just as easily without downloading another app. Most everything I know I will need is burned into my brain, but it's nice to check the box. Great setup, I love watching these videos! In 2017 I traveled around the north of the Philippines for 3 weeks, and all I had with me was a small Dakine school backpack (which I still use every day! :D). I did have 2 of those compression packs to help pack as much as possible. I brought some underwear, socks, a couple shorts and T-shirts, 1 sweater, basic toiletry and my wallet/charger. I figured if I needed something else I could buy it there, and I washed my clothes wherever possible. Some of the locals asked me where my other bag/suitcase was and were surprised when I told them that's all I had with me. I hadn't run into any problems and it was my favorite traveling experience. But if I get the chance to travel again I'll probably go for a slightly bigger setup like in this video (for a book/notebook and some extra clothing).

I love the fact that you only take one backpack for three weeks. It is so freeing.
I don‘t bother with make up and if I take any tech sith me it‘s just gonna be a phone + a charger. Might take the iPad depending on where I am going. Went to England for 10 d with 16 L. Just used the sink at my friend‘s house. Or do laundry.

    A couple observations from experience:
    1. Many travellers, me included, use toploader backbacks (versus yours with with the open front). In these, pack electronic gadgets/wires in a clear zip-top baggie and place on top. Ditto, toiletries/liquids. This ensures one need only open the zip to access and replace them when going through security or for accessing cables for recharging.
    2. Consider two backpacks - a longer/larger one on your back, a shorter/smaller one on your front. Not only does this enable more carry space, those items requiring removal at security (computer etc.), use in the washroom (toothbrush etc.) or comfort (sunglasses, sleep mask, book etc.) can be put on the top of the front bag for ready access without the need to remove it.
At the airport, for easy access I also put my travel documents in a front pocket on my front backpack. Once through security they return to the inside pocket of my jacket.
For storage the longer bag goes in the overhead, the shorter under the seat.
    For backpacks I recommend Sandqvist.

If you are travelling in Europe on a low cost carrier the cheapest tickets only allow you one piece of onboard luggage, so her mid size backpack is the only option. If you exceed the size of the luggage or the number of pieces they will charge you a hefty fine, more expensive than the return flight in lots of cases.

As a seasoned traveller myself I loved it 'cos I learned something as well. I totally agree about that "just in case" item. Having made the mistake so many times I can concur. Now I don't take them as much(still do take some haha) and I rarely regret it.

I would also say for the just in case items how difficult is it to replace and how much of an affect will not having it have on your trip. I have hyper mobility issue so I would bring my braces since them don’t take up much room and my trip could be massive affected if I have a flare up and I don’t have them. I wouldn’t bring lot of over the counter medicine though cos they should be easy to find if in populated areas(I would check the names the medication goes by in the country I’m visiting). Travel minimalism is all a balancing act of ease of travel versus comfort during a trip.

I use my regular toothpaste to make tooth tablets. Baking paper on a tray, squeeze out toothpaste into long sausages lengths. Bake the toothpaste in the oven on a low temperature for about an hour. When the toothpaste feels a little bit squishy but mainly dry take them out of oven. Cut the sausage lengths into quarter inch lengths and place in a jar. Sprinkle liberally with baking soda. I then take as many tablets as I need in a small screw top container for my trip. Weighs less than toothpaste and is no longer considered a liquid. Same great flavour as my regular toothpaste because it is my regular toothpaste.

I would probably turn the 6 days in to 10 just for ease but it really depends on where your going and what materials your clothing is made of. Knicker, light t shirt and sock can be wash in the sink and should be dry in a day. However jeans, jumper ect would take alot more effort to wash and get dry (and depending of the material you may not want to put it in the dryer).

Great video.of course it's easier to travel with just one backpack. some facts should be noted. If you are traveling to warm countries and are completely healthy, a backpack is sufficient. But if you travel to very cold countries, it will be difficult to get by with just a small backpack due to the warm clothing and then you will have to come, for example. If I still have medication (I have 5 packs of 50 bags of potassium) then the volume of my hand luggage is no longer enough. You shouldn't generalize, but I encourage anyone who could to do it.
