    ABOUT ME🙋🏻‍♀️
    I'm Christianne, a solo traveller, vlogger and entrepeneur from Surrey, UK. I spend half my time exploring new places around the globe with my backpack, and the other half creating videos about my experiences, what I'm packing, solo travel advice, money budgeting tips and anything else in relation to my backpacking lifestyle.

    FAQ's
    How do you afford to travel? - I now earn a full time living through creating these TH-cam videos, affiliate links, selling digital products and my clothing line. I used to simply just work any temporary job I could find to save up to travel!
    Is travelling solo safe? - I would argue the answer is almost always yes! As long as you use your common sense and you follow your own government's guidelines about travelling in that country. I have made several videos on backpacking safety on my channel.
    Do you have plans to settle down? Yes, I'm currently saving to purchase my first property in the UK and I'd love to have children one day. I doubt I'll ever live a completely 'conventional' lifestyle by society's standards though, as I often have my own preferred way of doing things.

    Okay but seeing the airport fit at the end is somehow so comforting to see. I don't know why but I get so self conscious when I think I look a bit odd wearing my mismatched clothes to travel. Remembering that sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do to take everything you want with you is really helpful. I am in my early planning for a solo summer trip to Europe and I am hoping to do it all with just a backpack so I have been binge watching and rewatching all your videos. Thanks for always going so in depth with what you pack!

    Both eagle creek and high Sierra have similar styles of case. Though they have their advantages, eagle creek has a removable frame and gives you more options. The disadvantage of the "T" handle is you cannot slip another bag over the handle. I have in the past had a large strap that I use as a caring strap (duffle style) that I use with my rolling case. The best decision you can make is what type of travel you're taking and choose accordingly. Besides, the more bags you have to choose from the better!

    I love how you are "only" taking 36 L. I've seen people take almost double that for the same amount of time (or even less). I think I could go with even a bit less, for example the tops. Since they have no sleeves, you could wear them several times before washing them. You can also wash them by hand and if it is hot around there, they'll probably be dry the next day. Of course the hiking equipment and the big fluffy towel take up a bit of space. Some of the toiletries you could maybe do without but it is of course a personal choice.
    Good video :)

    So happy for this trip! Still looking forward to watching you travel through Argentina someday!
    I'm going to Europe for the first time in December and I thought of buying a backpack with wheels but the weight makes me indecisive. Besides, in one of my flights I've got a max of 12kg for the carry on AND the personal item together so I'm terrified haha

    Just saw this and I was like I have to tell you when you get to Australia to see family, check out the High Sierra brand. It’s an Aussie company, amazing backpack/roller case. I love mine super robust and durable, the backpack straps pack away into a zipped area when not in use, there is a seperate area for shoes and it opens up like a suitcase like your previous bag. I swear by these bags they are the best. I used mine in South America travelling through Patagonia, Chile, Argentina lots of hiking and it was so good 😊 they usually have them on sale too…. Maybe your sister could pick once up on Black Friday for and early Chrissy pressie hehe

Are you managing space wise ok? I had the fairview 65 with wheels in Canada and it was BEAUT but I also plan to travel hand luggage only going forward.

    interested to hear if they do weigh your bag and how much you need to pay! I am looking at a 7KG limit which is a bit worrying especially considering any decent bag seems to be at least 1kg... i wouldnt mind paying a bit extra if thats allowed.

    I work at an outdoor shop in Canada that sells Osprey and I have the Sojourn 45L that your talking about and it would’ve been perfect for you! The reason why you had so much trouble finding stuff is because Osprey is redoing designs that aren’t quite done yet so they have very little stock available for the public!! I’m patiently waiting for their new releases 😅 should be around Christmas!!

  • @sbkpilot1

    I had one of these packs, called the Osprey Soujourn, I don't think they make it anymore. The issue is that due to the wheels and frame it feels really uncomfortable to wear it. So these types of packs are mainly meant for rolling and the occasional backpack use. My experience has been very different from yours, even in Europe i've felt that having a backpack is immensely more beneficial - your hands are totally free, you don't have to worry about dragging stuff and watching it when you use kiosks etc. and you can run up the stairs to catch a connecting train with ease. I absolutely detest rolling luggage for that reason. But to each their own :)

  • @lucylawson4260
    @lucylawson4260 ปีที่แล้ว

    I absolutely love your packing videos thanks. So impressive going with just carry on. But I always thought disposible contacts had to be in the liquids bag, and that all liquid had to fit in one of those tiny 10x10cm airport bags? Plus, I had a metal nail file(!) confiscated in Medellin airport this year, did you get those nail scissors through? Can't wait for your first video. Enjoy every moment 😀

    • @BackpackingBananas
      @BackpackingBananas  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nope I don’t think the contacts have to go in your liquids 🙌🏼 at least I didn’t separate them and it was completely fine 😊 my scissors got through to Colombia but then when flying back out of Bogota to La Paz, the scissors were confiscated 🥲 it was nice to try tho haha

    • @lucylawson4260
      @lucylawson4260 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BackpackingBananas ah, shame about the scissors but great work with the contacts 👏 I'll have to pluck up the courage to try it next time. When travelling with my family I use the kids allowance to take liquids 🤫 but really struggle when on my own.
