    You have a very valid point with the thumbstud. I do remember my great grandfather's sharpening there blades at the angle you have it at to sharpen it. They always went at that angle and did circle on an old stone.

    I like it, but I agree about the thumbstuds. I have a 112 LT and a couple of classic 110s, along with a 55. Will see about getting a Slim Select and that Sport. Yep, I am a Buck fan.
    Thanks Isaac!

    Good video, I'm buying one next week. These are beautiful. Most of us carried a Buck 110 when I was on board the Destroyer USS Davis DD 937 from '73-'77. These are pure Americana. I like your video, it was down to earth.

    Great follow-up on the 110 sport. I often carry the Classic 110, 110 slim, or the 110 lite. I am looking at getting the 110 Sport in the next month or so. Your first review and this have really helped a lot. Thank you.

    I've been thinking about picking one of these up at some point. I even like that the heat treatment & steel is stamped on it.

    • @isaacs_knives_and_knowledge
      @isaacs_knives_and_knowledge  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's got a great feel to it. Buck puts the steel type with the Bos logo on all their premium products. It's printed on though and not stamped like their standard 420HC steel products. Makes me wonder if the premium steels are too hard?

    Great job Isaac I did love to look and I bet it feels really nice in hand but I agree I would like to see a version of that without the thumb studs that will take care of all of the weight issues of the original buck 110 give it some flair and style but at the same time keep the absolute function of the entire blade like the traditional buck 110

    It looks like the anodizing is holding up on the bolsters. I haven't carried/used mine enough to know. I like the knife but I'd prefer removable thumbs stud. The weight savings and the take apart feature are BIG upgrades. I agree with you, the traditional blade is perfection. I've been brutalizing my standard 110 w/ S30V blade in this month's BCUSA one knife challenge and it has performed fantastically.

    Looks like a great knife with modern materials but I wish they would have put the thumbstud closer to the frame of the knife. Thanks for the look see and keep making sharp things fun and enjoyable

    • @isaacs_knives_and_knowledge
      @isaacs_knives_and_knowledge  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think that's possible with the size stud they use. The curvature of the handle would prevent the knife from closing

    Been curious how this one would sit on a hone. Haven’t had to hone mine yet. Thanks for the very helpful review. Still too heavy for my pocket, though, so my clip is gone and it gets carried in a sheath.

  • @drgallup
    @drgallup 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've got about a dozen 110's with different handles, customization, etc. None of them have the pocket clip or thumb studs and all are heavy. So I was excited to get this one. Unfortunately, the lock back spring is WAY TOO STIFF. I can not open it one handed with the thumb studs and it is nearly impossible to close. I would absolutely love this knife if the spring were not so extremely stiff. None of my other 110's take even half as much force to close.

    • @isaacs_knives_and_knowledge
      @isaacs_knives_and_knowledge  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd suggest putting some oil in both the lock button and blade pivot area then repeatedly open and close the knife. Maybe that will help. Mine is stiff on opening but haven't had any issues with the lock.

    Are the thumbstuds removable on the sport like the Limited Edition carbon fibre model? I still like it though.

    • @isaacs_knives_and_knowledge
      @isaacs_knives_and_knowledge  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, it would take quite a bit of effort to remove these. They are pinned through the blade and if removed you would be left with a tiny hole where they were.

      I didn't buy that one. Blade shape on the carbon fiber was different like to he slim 110s. It had S45VN steel though. Probably very similar weight

    Just got the 110 sport as a birthday gift,
    feels great in the hand but the hinge is super stiff. Anyone else have this issue?
    I did oil it and figure it should break in as time goes on..

    If they end up making one with a nail nick instead of thumb studs, with a drop point blade. I would get it. But for now, I’m gonna wait. Especially since one hand opening is weird legally where I live.

    I don’t want to angry-up any 110 purists, but I’d give this phosphor-bronze washers, an axis lock, and a discreet flipper tab. You’d preserve the blade shape, get anything out of the cutting path, and the knife would be one handed operation all the way around. I could also envision it having the type of frame lock where the scale conceals the lock bar. Buck need to commit to a truly modernized production 110 to compliment the classic original, or forget about it altogether. Still going to buy one to support the effort. 😂

    • @isaacs_knives_and_knowledge
      @isaacs_knives_and_knowledge  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Buck is way behind the market on modern designs. I really only like one of their modern knives, the Sprint Pro. I think the knife you described wanting them to make is sold as the Benchmade Crooked River 🤣🤣
