Phase angle firing an SCR ... bug problem with this circuit is that the the load is turned on mid cycle and if the load is inductive you get shit loads of RF generated. Simple but effective though. Ideally build but design it so that that the switch turns on at the beginning of the cycle and is turned off at the variable point. It’s the opposite to this but requires a different means of switching. A thyristor will stay on until the applied voltage drops at the crossing voltage, ie when the input swings negative

hello. thanks lot for this breakdown. please I don't understand the language but I tried my best to follow the schematic. i only have one problem. please is that a 10k resistor that you placed between the 110-volt output pins 5:11 ? if it is a resistor what is its watt? thanks once again.

Look at the curve form => not sinusoidal ! Load it and your 120VAC appliance will not work and will not have the power as on 120VAC ! Theory is good, prove your the function is better.
