      When you’re using a bridge rectifier to convert 230V AC to DC, here’s the calculation:
      1. Calculate the peak voltage of the AC signal:
      • Multiply the RMS voltage by the square root of 2 (which is approximately 1.414).
      • 230V multiplied by 1.414 equals roughly 325V.
      • This 325V is the peak voltage of the 230V AC signal.
      2. With a bridge rectifier:
      • The output will be pulsating DC with a peak of approximately 325V.
      It is always safer to use capacitors that are rated to the peak voltages just in case one fails and the other will go down with it.

    • @HaseebElectronics
      @HaseebElectronics  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      i already recorded a detailed video. it will be published in upcoming days. because many viewers asked this question.
      we can use both 220v capacitors in series but it is best to use single 400v capacitor. because in series the capacitance will remain 330 uf but its ESR value will increase and also the center pins will create parasitic inductance or stray inductance, which will decrease the capacitor efficiency

    Good idea! I would let the capacitors installed, just delete centre connection. As MOV on 230 V input usualy 275 Volt types are used. Why you choose 420 V?

    • @HaseebElectronics
      @HaseebElectronics  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      if we remove center connection, the capacitance will become 330/2 = 115uf. and the power supply will start fluctuation.
      we need to use 330UF capacitor
      it is good to use 275 to 480V RMS MOV in second stage protection. as it is connected in between EMI filters, so it protects form the ringing of the EMI filter
      higher voltage range as 330-450V is much suitable at this stage

    • @hugoegon8148
      @hugoegon8148 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@HaseebElectronics Did you test this? I doubt it, because the circuit after the caps "saw" these series caps before and worked fine. If you change only the way how the caps will be charged (from 110 to 220V) the capacity for the following circuit could remain the same.

    Hello haseeb, I have a 12v 40A power supply, it has a problem that when it is turned on without a load the output voltage is 19-21v and when a load is put it stabilizes at 12v, it has the KA7500 integrated, I already checked the feedback and Everything ok, my suspicions are in the transformer, when it is without load it makes a rather annoying high-pitched noise, what do you think it could be? the IC or the transformer?

    • @HaseebElectronics
      @HaseebElectronics  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      the ic and transformer are looking good. if it is providing enough output power then there is nothing wrong
      some power supplies need dummy load. if there is a dummy load resistor in output. check it
      if there is no resistance
      you can Install 100 ohms 2 watt resistance at output Terminals
      I think it will solve the problem
