My mom used to always quote the 'Bad association spoil useful habits' scripture. But, we were out casted in the Hall. Everyone was sexually active, had worldly friends, and lived total double lives. I had my "worldly" friends that was cool with me.

Can’t even be a friend to a JW while being a JW. I confided in my “friend” about my husband at the time and told her I was thinking about separating from him. Why she run and tell the elders what I confiding in her about and they wouldn’t let me auxiliary pioneer talking about I was bad association cuz I told my “friend” about what I was going through at home smh. I pretty much faded after that 🙄
Wow!!! Definitely don’t blame you. But nothing can just stay between you and another person. The gb creates such a guilt ran society nothing seems genuine.
Since coming out I’ve come across terms like narcissism, gas lighting, love bombing and trauma bonding! Being a Jehovah’s Witnesses is like being on a rollercoaster ride and even among ones in congregations there are ones who can play and toy with you! Would be good see what you could come up with about this. Was in for a long time and have seen all this happening, I can see it by being able to look back over years I was in. When I came out my husband said he always saw the friends I had were fake.
I keep thinking I can’t be floored anymore than I am already, and suddenly there’s more.
I ask that you pray for my friend who is under that system and who I love so much. I worry about her every day because the "control" of the cult is so dangerous, Her well being is constantly threatened by the mind games.

But in a SINFUL World we will have Deceitfulness in Religions, in Churches. Remember what Jesus Christ had to deal with the Pharisees. As Jesus stated to the Pharisees: "Woe to you , teachers of the Law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the kingdom of heaven in Men's faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to."
I've been loved bombed by old jw friends for months. After I went to a memorial service but did not fill out an application and set a date to start a bible study, gradually I heard less and less from my old jw friends. And when I do hear from them, it is always to invite me to a special event at the hall or their family functions where almost everyone keep asking me when I am coming back to Jehovah. First of all, I never left Jehovah God because I still believe in Him. The sad reality, I must agree with you both, they are not my friends. 🥲 I'm a worldy. Funny skit!!! 😂🤣😂
I work very closely with a JW… During the holidays we had a team meeting and our manager asked everyone what is our favorite Christmas show… (we were on zoom) my coworker is one of those smiling JWs. You know the ones that’s so nice and kind and smiles all the damn time… (wolf in sheep’s clothing) well i had to hold back my laughter because she had this look on her face was trying not to smile and it made her look so funny, like a beaver😂😂that was super strange to watch….When it got to her she was like “I don’t partake in the celebration of Christmas, WTh!!!🤦🏽♀️

They label their own as bad association if their fellow witness wasn't going out on service, etc. So joining them will work for a bit until you start to slide backwards. It's not even like they accept you after that unless you live up to their expectations of who they want you to be, look like and what you in your spare time. They divide themselves

I know of an instance where a newer family to the congregation had a daughter who knew the truth behind a certain situation...She spoke up, anyone questioned stuck with the lie. So she,at the very least, was treated differently from then on, her credibility would have taken a hit. I was too young and don't recall the consequences but felt terrible once I knew the truth...

So so true I called to check on a ex coworker that is a witness. I asked her how was she doing and then she started with the Bible and I told her I didn’t call for that you don’t have to count time anymore. Just calling to check on you and I don’t need a bible study over the phone.

I noticed that I was the main one to contact everyone in my life and when ever we "spent time" it was in service or some small gathering. I stopped calling these people and haven't heard from them 1 time in 2 years now.

I have been a witness for over 10 years now. ( Currently pimo) I have not one time try to pull my "Worldly" friends in because we were friends before I got sucked in this cult. But I did on occasion invite them to the memorial ( you know we can't Miss this)😅😅😅

This is absolutely true, in fact in my experience my brother who is a drug dealer and user and with multiple felonies who is self centered is treated better than me by our JW relatives because I am a Christian and he has no faith. I'm considered as an opposer of Jehovah and he isn't.

LOL! I have had a few best friends who were JWs (both are dead, sadly). I studied with them when I was a kid and teen and wasn't buying what they were selling. (JWs are like Amway.) That did not affect our friendship. There are a lot of JWs who slip and slide.

I lost the love of my life unexpectedly in 2022.
Trying to survive minute by minute, I came in contact with some seemingly nice JWs who sensed I wasn't okay then I feel tried to EXPLOIT MY GRIEF to get me to join their club. It was humiliating bc I completely fell apart in a public space and they thought they were "helping" by telling me that she (we're lesbians) is "asleep" or something about jehovahs memory or whatever. I didn't even want to talk about that. Is that a thing or were they just terrible?
No, that is textbook JW "comfort" for when an outsider is experiencing grief and loss. My JW mom did the same thing with her coworker when their mother died, just gave them some JW pamphlet junk and a superficial "asleep in death" explanation. I deliberately avoid the topic of death with her, not because of any fear of death on my part, but because I know that she'll just see it as an opportunity to try and drag me into her cult. I'm so sorry those people took advantage of your grief and I'm sorry for the loss of your wife. I hope you found/will find peace on your own terms and in your own time

As a Christian I don't feel better than anyone else, I am in fact a little lower because I am a servant to everyone else. The humanity of others comes before theology because everyone is an image of God so if someone doesn't come to share my faith they deserve my respect and concern as an image of God. I have dear friends who are Atheists, Muslim, Scientologists, Mormons however JWs won't be my sincere friends though I love them

I am 49 years old and I lost my mom and sister to COVID in 2020 and 2022 ,I'm still battling grief. I'm in therapy though.

The good Samaritan had different beliefs than the naked, robbed & beaten Jew he cared for. Humanity comes before theology, loving your neighbor as yourself is without condition and regardless of what they believe or don't believe because they are an image of God and whoever says they love God who they can't see yet does not love their brother or sister who they can see is a liar. Just found out some of JW still doing 50 hours a month pioneering time in certain areas such as in Georgia. They not aware no longer to door to door or less preaching time. I was told pioneer must do 50 hours a month sitting in front of a cart??!!

Great video. I would add that you all need to delve into the difference between real religion and cults. Real religion doesn't manipulate people through information and relational control. Cults twist the Bible. For instance, the Bible doesn't say that everyone is a child of God, but rather born in the image of God. Yes, God hears everyone's prayers, but they don't enter into a relationship with God until they chose to through faith by means of being born again and adoption by YHWH (not Jehovah). People are not adopted because they join the JWs but through faith (Eph. 2:8-9).
Anytime I shared anything it was then told to my teacher I studied with. And the teacher acted like an op. Very pushy and needed to know anything and everything about my life. I said I can’t do this op stuff no more. I’m out. Never baptized, only studied and stopped.
I learned that the hard way as I fell in love with a Jehovah Witness and it was an odd situation as I met her Thanksgiving day in 1984 at my Mother's Home, and she was a friend of my Sister who is atheist and not until 4 months into the relationship she informed me that she is an inactive JW(more likely a Desfellowship JW) as she was previously Pregnant and gotten an abortion sometime before she met me. We ended up getting married, and there after I realize I made a GIGANTIC BIG MISTAKE, AS SHE WAS PRESSURING ME TO BECOME ONE OF THEM (JW) AND THATS A NO, NO FOR ME AND SHE KNEW THAT . I NEVER EVER SAID I WOULD BECOME A JW, AS I DID SOME RESEARCH OF THEIR HISTORY!
So jws do believe in competing but they're competing with each other on jw spiritual matters and they kind of keep score then right?

I was going to add, where you say they “aren’t really JWs” it could be that they THINK they are, but don’t follow certain things, so, like, in my case, I didn’t think it was right to not be close to people outside. I didn’t agree with shunning either. So, I believed certain things, but thought the leadership had stuff wrong, so, well, had a bunch of real friends. I did think, however, somehow we all were going to have to have things figured out in the end to survive Armageddon, so had all this worry, guilt and rear, because I did the the religion probably was at least in the right place, but with errors. I had a lot of confusing and conflicting feelings about it all, had spent time inactive for a long period. I still didn’t celebrate things, and believed and prayed in the theology part. After I saw Geoffrey Jackson and heard about the child abuse, well, then decided to research, and after that, could not agree with the religion or ever go back! All the negative aspects now made sense to me, that it wasn’t a good religion, or God’s “True Religion.”

If the God of the Bible is real and has provided evidence of himself and revealed himself in history and in written word and he is perfect love wouldn't you want perfect love in your life and to have the fear of death obliterated in your life since Jesus in his historical death, burial & resurrection shattered the death barrier? If Jesus is alive today it is possible to have a real relationship with him not a religion.
What kills me about those that were once Jehovah's Witnesses is if they hated being Witnesses so bad why do they still keep up with what's going on in the organization long after they have left? They pull no punches and investigate questions so hard that Billy Graham's faith was almost destroyed by them in his his life. Josh McDowell's Evidence That Demands A Verdict is also a book before Lee Strobel written to disprove Christianity and C.S. Lewis's Mere Christianity, C.S. Lewis was one of the greatest minds in the world and staunchly Atheist, Mere Christianity is about his dismissal of religion in general and specifically Christianity and how and why he became a Christian, C.S. Lewis was a brilliant mind that could not be converted by only testimony or religious dogma or influence but by intellectual propositions and evidences irrefutable.

I really wish you 2 would listen to Professor John Lennox and Sr. Stephen Meyer because I've heard you two talk about how old humanity is and young Christianity is. Modern science resulted from the Christian worldview not the Atheistic one and much science is in classrooms in public schools is pseudoscience, I myself am educated in Industrial Sciences which includes mathematical physics and am writing peer review articles for publication. The geological table is not science neither is Darwinian evolution they fail under the scientific method! This will likely sound contradictory to you but following Jesus leads one to real science and it did me and continues to. You 2 are beautiful people who really care about people and it's my hope that you both will see Jesus not in the way JWs do for I care about you whether you come to share my faith or not.
Evolution is a fact . It’s such an obvious fact that college sophomores can evolve short lived organisms with short generation times in the lab. I did it 50 years ago ! Creationist organizations like the JWs lie about basic science. The complete geological column can be found in at least 25 places on earth including some in the USA ! People who don’t understand science shouldn’t criticize it.
And BTW I’m not an atheist! Atheism has nothing to do with science!

I had “returned to Jehovah” (trying to atrend, do the best I could, three different tries, but never could sustain it. I was a born in, but even as a kid, hardly had a chance to have JW friends, so was since a kid I made friends outside. It was secretly at first, but by my teen years, my mom knew us 4 had hardly any JW friends because there weren’t many, and sometimes because of the clicks. So the ones outside WERE real friends to me, me to them. The last try going to meetings, in around 2010, unfortunately I did talk my friend into going to some meetings. So, I did do that. But she got me to vote just before that. lol So, was going to say that there are going to be JWs, that are by degrees. I was kinda PIMO about some things. So, just wanted to point that out. Unfortunately, there is this feeling that you are “supposed to” get them “in the truth.” As JWs, I think we were soooo confused about so many things and had so much inner conflict with things JW.
