I went on a cruise with the “friends” and an elder came along. We were forbidden from the comedy show, dance club, movies, magic show, and buying souvenirs with any semblance of the countries’ flags that we visited. Instead of going to the beach, we had to go to a meeting in port, IN SPANISH…we don’t even speak Spanish! Why even go on a cruise? That was the final straw for me.

You can't get remarried without talking to the elders first, to see if you are "scripturally" qualified to do so. Yeah, I didn't do that, and they weren't to happy that I was married to a "worldy" woman.. what an insult. I tell you what, she is absolutely amazing in every way...no regrets.

Growing up in this religion, I was that kid who had to sit in corners at any holiday. I remember feeling singled out and extremely depressed throughout my life. I'm 42 now and still have a lot of problems socializing and understanding most people. It's hard to hold a conversation for more than 15 minutes. I realize now how Important it is to allow children to interact with one another and to participate in school activities. As I became a teenager my depression was so severe that I resorted to drug and alcohol use. I'm better now but sometimes still feel disfunctional. Keep up the awesome work you two. ❤

Ya I had a best friend "worldy friend" in the 6th grade. The ONLY way I was allowed to go over to her house to hang out and do all the fun "girly things" was if I brought the Young People Ask Book to "place" with her. So I agreed. Went over there gave her the book explained the silliness and then we played and hung out the entire time not mentioning that silly book. I was able to go over there maybe 2 more times. And then when it was clear she wasn't going to be a JW then my parents stopped letting me go over there. Everything for JW children is a recruitment job. But I can say this, to this day I am STILL friends with her and also "worldy friends" saved my life. They are the reason that I made it out of that cult unscathed and living a good life to this day. I got out early and had somewhere to go. I was able to build a network of NON Jw friends. That is what saved me.

When I hit Puberty my body quickly got muscle mass every where I had muscles busting out of my shirt's and suit jackets and when a neighbor gave me a weight set and I used them I became ridiculously big strong and I never took any kind of steroids no Amino acids and hardly even vitamins but I was always counseled that bodily training was only beneficial for a little and don't be stirring up competition with one another envying one another I hardly worked out only every now and then but my body responded terrificly. I dropped out of sport's I was a record breaking sprinter and broke the All time sprint record's as a freshman and broke football strength record's for bench press squat etc. I was a natural athlete but I never heard the end of it and elders were jealous and envious of me and they disfellowshipped me and I did not a thing wrong I was merely lied on. I was shocked confused bewildered I didn't understand I beat myself for years trying to figure out what I did wrong I was gaslit like I was crazy. Finally the organization abolished All records that I was ever a Jehovah's witness. They covered their track's. Yes at the headquarters. It became known I was clearly done clearly wrongly disfellowshipped wrongly. For years I still believed they were the truth and lived like I was a JW standards even disfellowshipped. I didn't take a lot of job's. Made meetings best o could but because I knew I was wrongly put out I couldn't trust the organization anymore. I had cognitive disinence confusion but I always believed in God Almighty still to this day and still try to live a moral life however I know they are a power crazy Cult that uses abuses exploits people. But boy did the guy's hate me I was everything they weren't a real man to say the least. I was the one whom first started studying because I was looking for the true God already having been reading my revised standard version Bible routinely. I lost year's because of the jws. I dropped out of Chorus so singing. Dropped out of track. Football.

    1) My husband’s JW family said they weren’t coming to our wedding. He’s the only boy with 6 sisters! His mom & sisters showed up w/o our knowledge. We had our coordinator accommodate them with a table at the reception. We also included them in the pictures.
    2) He wasn’t allowed to play any sports.
    3) His oldest sister was dating a “brother” at the congregation but she wasn’t interested in marrying him. So, his dad setup one of his younger daughters to end up getting with him & getting married. Shocker, it didn’t last.

Wow. I think it’s up to the congregation too because some of the stuff you’re saying like you can’t donate to the Salvation Army. I I have never heard of that. I think that’s one of the reasons why I left those because I found out over the years that congregations have different rules. They only teach the same when it comes to the watchtower, but in the morning meetings before the watchtower meetings everybody gets taught differently as far as the college thing that’s changing. A lot of witnesses are going to college now, I live in Florida and it’s like free for two years while you’re in high school so they’re saying you can go yo college now. But you guys teach me a lot because a lot of the things that you both are saying are things that I was never told for example you can’t donate to the Salvation Army. I was never told that but like I said before that, some congregations are stricter than others and so everybody gets talked differently. I’m glad my kids never went. They did go when they were young, but I’m glad that they decided not to go as they got older. I guess that shows that sometimes they’re smarter than the parents. Ha ha.

When my 6th grade best friend as an adult many years later had a conversation with me publicly on facebook about the silliness of my childhood recruitment process(it was around the time Leah Remini did the JW episode) my sister saw our back and forth conversation and got upset because I told my friend that it wasn't my parents fault and that they were told to do that by Watchtower....she said I made them look bad. lol
I was like HOW did I make them look bad when all I am doing is speaking the truth about how it all works? The only ones making you all "look bad" is Watchtower. And them making you do all of that nonsense. Me talking about it isn't the issue. So silly!

I had to quit this religion in order to reach my goals in life.
I join the military at 19 in which they were against/ opposed..!!!
Today I have things laid out for me like a king, just because I joined the military.
My mother and many other family members were Jehovah witnessess.
My mother was never against all this money I send to her when I was in the military😂😂😂😂😂.
My mom was the only one in my family that respected me who was Jehovah.. witnesses.
My mother had a very high status as a Jehovah witness. She bragged about me with everything I had done. Even when I joined the military, which they were totally against.
My mother didn't care about none of this when these hundred dollars bills was coming in thoes envelopes.
My mother bragged all about that money. A lot them had envy but they couldn't touch my mother when it's about the bible..!!!!!
All Christianity/ christian religions are designed to cripple the black people..!!!
This Jehovah religion is definitely not for black people.
My advice to people in this religion is to go college/ university to educate yourself; if not you will be extremely poor...😮😮😮😮😮.

One day they decided to buy some drinks and gather up at someone's house. I don't know that got out that it went straight to the elders ears. Everyone got reprimanded and so on. Weeks later, there's another gatherings. Another gathering of the same circumstances -involved Alco- but the crowd was older-30 and up. Well, no one said anything about that "gathering" because elders and MS were participating in that gathering. If you're spiritual it's called a gathering. I'm not a JW bit I have study with them and I agree with you. I know people who are JW who don't vote but have food stamps go to pantry say they participate Government

I remembered I got counseled on the way I was dressed. I was told I look like a prostitute. The reason why they would think that is because I love wearing tight and snug fit clothes to the meetings. And after being counseled the third time I was given clothes by the sisters that made me look frumpy looking. The frumpy look was not for me or my style,

Wow. I think it depends on the kingdom hall. The elder with whom I studied said they don't police members' dress & groom habits. The only time they'd say something is when the sisters are on the stage. I do believe that Jehovah's Witnesses have the true faith, but if what you're saying is true, then that's going too far. Being told you look like a prostitute and given "frumpy clothes" is a little intrusive.

@6:35 lol that JW urban legend.
The. Way I heard it was a kid snuck his Smurf doll to the hall and during the meeting, it came to life and ran out the Kingdom Hall

5:46 omg this is SO true its almost painful to think about. A few days ago, a friend of mine came over to our house, and the Bob Markey movie came up in convo. My mom got all excited, tryna figure out when the best time is to go, but my friends mom interjected and said she wasn't comfortable with her daughter watching the movie because of what he "represents" (it was the ganja. Iykyk 😒). Then my mom quickly changed her tune and said it was a bad idea (this friend of mine has a dad who's an elder so honestly I don't blame them.) But I felt personally offended that she reduced Bob Markey down to his consumption of Zaza. He's so much more than that. And they do that with other things that originated in the Black community too.
There was smth that happened to me a few years ago during the George Floyd era. To keep a long story short tho, I got on trouble with my parents for posting smth Blm related (which is kinda dumb cuz we're one of the few Black families in our hall so they should understand the most, but apparently not). They said I wasn't being "politically neutral" cuz there was smth politics related in the post. I'm sorry, but do u really expect me to pretend there's nothing going on when a manliterally died?!?! Anyways, this comment went on for way too long, but I dont like how they hide their racism under the guise of "neutrality" or listening to "clean" music. It's tired 😒

Yes absolutely agree!! And they don’t like what bob marley stood for?! He literally stood for peace and love. More than can be said about 75% of witnesses lol. That’s terrible. Nobody wants to be reduced to something so unimportant. But yes the blm era was a wild time. Same happened when everything happened with Rodney king as well no witness was supposed to have an opinion on any of it.

@AwakenTruths I find it absolutely wild that a bunch of old White dudes in New York feel entitled enough to tell Black ppl how to feel when police brutality is so harmful to us. Like I don't live in the states, and this issue isn't too big where I live, but I fo have Black American family members. I can only imagine what the George Floyd era was like for them. And even if you're not Black, most people would feel some type of way when they see a man being killed in the brutal way George Floyd was. But yea, watchtower is filled with a bunch of wackos who refuse to educate themselves on issues affecting certain communities (some of which are followers of their religion)

If JW’s can’t go to YMCA because it’s founded and funded by Christian organizations, should they or could they be allowed to go to hospitals with Saint names that are also founded and funded by Christian organizations?
