Yes. That is so tragic. When my dad died )he was not a JW), my JW Bro could not attend. When my non-JW mom died, my JW bro stayed outside but could not enter the Chapel where a Catholic priest gave a blessing. I was out by then and felt sorry for my bro and wanted to comfort him but he could not speak with me. It is a sad, family dividing Organization under the umbrella of religion for tax exempt purposes.

Thank you for this. I have family in the Witnesses and they are, by far, the most miserable members of the family. Mental illness is rampant among them and my sister, a member, is so unethical I no longer feel that I can have any kind of relationship with her. In addition, she pretty much ruined her son. So sad.
It truly is sad to watch. Once you wake up the right way (not afraid of dying, disappointing or allowing JWs to shame you) observing JW family and friends is like watching aliens who are just passing and getting by as they reside among you. It is too bad that you will never get to know that family member deep down. You just have to tolerate and play along to get along. Even if they do lash out at you to put you down as they are trained, it should not hurt as much as you count your blessings to be normal.
This is sad, and yet so common. I talked about this in a previous video, about how I had to leave myself because I did not like the person I was becoming in the organisation. They encourage being unethical and mental illness is rampant.
I hope your family can leave one day and heal from this traumatic experience.

I got out in 2002 and the one thing I noticed when I was in when I was fading out was how many brothers and especially sisters that were on medication for depression depression is huge
And this was in the early 2000s. It must be even worse now.
If you belong to a large family that has been in the organization for many years chances are you are in a collusive situation where you know something ain't right but you ain't say nothing because you have to go against your whole family.
And that is the trap right there, family! The cult pushes for people to recruit family and friends so that if you want to leave, its very hard. Once you start having doubts, its like being in a prison within another prison.
I helped someone out in 2020 and she said everyone in the cong was on anti depressants. She was still pretty much believing most everything but she could see her own health and the health and happiness of her children was going downhill so she just wanted out.

As a former member who was born in and disfellowshipped at 18 years old, I feel confident to say there is a significant number of publishers who remain "active" in the organization because they are afraid to lose their entire social network. The shunning practices force people to stay in and pretend to believe the doctrine, otherwise their family and lifelong friends won't be allowed to associate with them anymore. This is something they try not to advertise and even former members are afraid to talk about it, because they don't want to hurt the people they love who are still locked in. But it's becoming more public and they won't be able to pretend it's normal for much longer.

I think the fact that they stopped publishing the yearbook every year is pretty telling. I mean it was always exciting to get the yearbook and look at the numbers. It must be bad. Yay!!!

I think for me, its always 1) the minimizing of Jesus role, 2) the insensitivity of the organization 3) coldness 4) CSA cases, lying in court etc 5) finding out verses were removed and added in the NWT and the constant twisting of scripture...there's a ton more but these were major. And when I read Crisis of Conscious, it was a stone wrap, ESPECIALLY after the whole Malawi incident. I couldn't pick my jaw up from off the floor! But I look at all the death among bro and sis all over the world regarding publications and blood. Bros and sisters have died! have died! have died! placing publications that are now either out of print or the congregations were instructed to get rid of them. And the organization just treat is as nothing. That draws tears for me just as much as bros and sisters dying over the blood issue. Now there are people who aren't religious at all who don't want blood. But the organization put this on God, and on the backs of brothers and sisters based on a verse in Acts that was not talking about this at all when you do the research and the Greek terms. Yes blood is sacred and im sure doctors know how sacred it is and can save lives. When the bible says to "abstain from blood" one greek term referred to "violence". Another commentary mentioned that Jehovah did not want blood consumed as a FOOD SOURCE. Blood is considered and organ, and its thoroughly cleaned and put back where it belongs in the body and the liver will continue to do the job to clean the blood. White blood cells take over. But sooooooooo many bro and sis and children have died when they could still be here, and its touted as being "faithful to Jehovah" when its really following the whims of men. I always got into trouble when i used to say "let the bro and sis choose for themselves". thats between them and God.

Let's remember that the figures are reported yearly in the service report, which is published each January. In there it shows which countries have growth and which do not.
Yes that's the figures I used in conjunction with older Yearbook figures. Some people are a bit hung up on this and my intention was not to mislead but to use the most recent and available information. And whichever figures we use, all of them point to the same conclusion.
I just found your explanation a bit confusing. The bottom line is that over 100 lands have had no growth at all, mainly because of peoples access to the internet. But there is still growth in Africa where the figures are relatively high, and so it averages out to a worldwide growth of just 1.3% which is a small increase from last years figures.@@MonicaRaseroka

Most of the growth is from Children Born into the religion, not new converts, so the actual REAL growth is much smaller, and at the rate that those born into the religion leave, the faith group is not sustainable in the long run.

It depends on the Gemeente (community(?)). I have seen three Koningkrijkszalen (Hall of the King) in the Netherlands. The furtest two buildings were ~100km apart from each other. Although there is the same kind of vibe (they receive the same message from the Watch Tower), there is still differences in thoughts and expressions.
I feel bad for a couple of people there. My time there was short, but they are honest and trustworthy people. I was just an extremist. I have a lot of hate in my heart for my fellow human beings. I am harsh and commanding towards others. The Jehova's Witnisses felt that from the start. Still I was welcomed, but they were at a loss what to do with me. I could get their organisation destroyed due to juridical reasons. So one of them said to me he would prefer his life with Jehova as it was before he met me. So I respect his wish and do my best do respect those of the others as well. It find it difficult to leave them behind. I know things that they would appreciate knowing.
But I trust in the Lord that all good things will come due. Wether it is a reward of my faith, or punishment for my sins.
My problem is that the moment you have some problems in life they will light shun you.
They will trow you under the bus to save themselves.
The friendships and brotherhood you teach about is basically build on sand. It takes nothing for it to collapse.
This cult needs to change their members numbers online, they have been saying for decades they have 8 million members. Maybe in the 70s or 80s but in (2024) 8 million members? yeah right! They are holding on to the old glory days.

I don't think the governing body wants to know the real truth about the way this organization has affected negatively so many people. So they switch to not reporting hours so they can stick their head in the sand even further. But remember they never go beyond the things that are written although that's what they were doing the whole time when they had required their followers to report their hours and field service
They need to be held accountable, all of them (the governing body members). Even the ones who have left or been kicked out. I too think they don't want to know because look at how they are quick to lie when speaking in court.

YEA!!! number 1!! lol. Japan no surprise because the JW's are getting hit hard there to a point I heard there's a letter writing campaign like they tried to do in Russia. I was surprise Norway wasn't on there because they just completed a two week trial last Friday.
USA probably because the Australian Royal Commission (I had doubts for a long time but that was my full awaking), and after seeing the lies on these trials about "We don't shun, we don't encourage baptizing young (a lot of good that did when the Norwegian attorneys played the videos during the trial).

The number of jehovahs witnesses in Australia showed an increase of 1.6 percent 71 thousand 850 publishers. Plus 120000 thosand memorial attendance. Baptisms have increased. In my home area morisset kingdom hall there has been a massive increase in attendance now 216. Members. Also many new ones are having bible studies,plus many who once left are returning to the fold. As part of the WT literature (aka by JWs Bible studies) Watchtower used to give out reading booklet and in exchange for gratefulness got baptized to this org!
The conditions in Puerto Rico in this years made many flee to New York and New Jersey- not knowing English very well Latin speaking JW would visit these g family that most of them felt happy to meet new Latin speaking and became friends- WT took advantage of this too!

It's the latest service report and older Yearbook (2017). I didn't know there was a difference and that they stopped producing Yearbooks.

How does this yearbook work ? Do the members physically/electronically sign it?
It's a book that was released yearly. Members don't fill it in, men in the organisation who held certain positions tallied up our hours of preaching, how many active members the congregation had etc. These are all tallied and added with other congregations, regions and then nationally. That's how they manage and calculate how many members they have.
The last Yearbook was way back in 2017. Nothing since then.
