It seems as Vevor has changed the software because I have the same display but it doesn't work like this at all. There is no way to enter the settings mode in mine. I only end up in the first timer settings and nothing else. I baught the heater recently.
Would be great if you could get one of the newest 3 button controllers that look exactly like this on the Vevor 2KW but the functions seem to be very different/limited. I keep trying to do what you do here but not working - I can get no further than the timer setting, it's driving me mad! Thanks
Sometimes they're unwittingly anchored too close to a wall preventing sufficient air intake for the fan to operate effectively. The sensor will either disable the unit or (As I've learnt) burn out the motor as it didn't have a sensor.

Thanks for the video, really considered content and easy to follow. One question - I believe I have a very similar if not the same, heater with the blue cap. I can't seem to find any fuel line but I'm wondering if you can also periodically pour in diesel via the top blue cap? If it does indeed have a fuel line, where might I need to be looking to find it? This was a super helpful video! What i'm struggling with though is the slowly dropping voltage during startup - and it trips out with E01 after a short 30-60. Tried different sources (living vs vehicle battery) with no luck. Any tips?
Hi Jeff. When the heater goes through the startup procedure, it draws a lot of power. Thin power cables or not enough current will cause the pump to give the error E01. Try connecting it with thick wires as close to the car's battery as possible. I had the same problem.
I'll mirror what he said. Long lines and/or undersized wires will cause excessive voltage drop. I'll give two examples to illustrate the effect wire size plays into voltage drop. Both calculated at: 13vdc starting voltage 15 feet of wire 12amp load (glow plug and fan). How do I change the altitude? My other controller is different than this one and I have to put it in plateau mode. The controller says it's 856m and it should be set at 675m.
I have three different kinds of these heaters and four different display modules. It is frustrating to fail in pairing the remote control to one of them. The guide is a miniaturized booklet with bad images and has guidance for six different display modules, but the one I have is not there. These models all behave differently. I am a bit confused of the incompatibility and mixup caused by the manufacturer in this matter. Maybe I will sort this out later. Thanks for these advice
At 8:04, you say the 20C is the target temperature of the room you’re trying to heat. On my heater, that appears to be reading some internal temperature? I see it increase up to 180C+ then shuts itself off. What am I missing?
Thank you! We’re currently road tripping across the US and don’t have our owners manual. Do you happen to know if you need to adjust the heater in higher elevations??
I'm not sure to be honest as I live very close to sea level and never tried it. it does have the symbol for it for it though and It should just do it automatically when your altitude changes. There is no longer a need to set it manually when you travel
How do you reset the heater control on the remote? Haven’t used mine for a year, it’s primed but heater not kicking in or ‘ticking’ do I guess it needs a reset
Just got this on the Vevor unit and the only buttons/configuration that seems to work is setting the clock, priming the pump, pair the remote. I hold down the power but unit fan comes on, glow plug indicator comes on then after a few seconds I get E-02. Have fuel right to combustion as there’s drips even out the exhaust pipe. Brand new unit and can’t get to light
Hi mate, so normally if it is a 12v heater running off of a 12v system and you get an error code 2 it means your battery is very low or has a damaged cell inside. Could your batteries need a good charge?
@@vanlifesurvivorsguide thanks! Had fully charged batteries (tried a couple actually) and with a bit more research I learned that the supplied power wires are insufficient. Went up to allot thicker guage cable, clamped on and the unit fired up (albeit allot of smoke from being flooded), heated up, controls actually work and good to go. The video will be on my channel shortly and thanks again!
Sadly they changed the controller software. I bought a 2kw heater that served me well for over 1000h but it was damaged due to an electrical fire. The old controller had pulse mode and I was able to adjust the amount of fuel vs the airflow which was super helpful since I spend a lot of time in the mountains. Absolutely not happy with the new version, quality wise however I'd still pick a vevor heater over any e*ay noname brand. I'm seriously considering reviving my old heater, the mainboard itself and the controller are still intact, just the harness burned. Also A**Express sells all kind of spare parts and different controllers, might be worth getting into that!
Hi there, great video, very clear 👍 I have two questions if you don’t mind helping. I’m using my heater for the first time (used vw multivan t5) and there is a lot of smoke coming out from the exhaust outside the van. How can I resolve this and is it dangerous ? And also, when I set the temperature the screen shows the desired ambient temperature up top and also below another temperature (I presume the output temperature) but that climbs up really high during the heating cycle, to 156+C degrees C. Hi mate, yeah you might have over primed it and the excess fuel is burning off it should clear. if it doesn't let me know it could be a setting problem. This is the same control panel as mine but mine won't come on. Can I buy any replacement panel or does it have to be exactly the same from the same company please?
I had an old controller that looks identical to that one however the settings menue was completely different and allowed for fuel amount adjustment and fan speed. The newer controllers do not have these options anymore. Maybe you can source an mainboard and controller with the rather small and round 3 pin connector that was used on the og controller.
Were not sure, we can't see it anywhere but if it has the mode it should just adjust your settings depending on your altitude you don't need to put it into the mode.
The only thing I can figure is the heater automatically goes into Alpine / plateau mode above a certain elevation, I am at 1550 meters. Another black controller with extra set or ok button can be switched between normal and Alpine mode.
I have this controller too, but mine shows a wifi symbol, but I can access the menus but I don't know what any of them are, also if I hit the down arrow on the remote or the lcd half the time it shuts my unit off other half it turns the temp down
I found your recent video really straight to the point helpful thanks buddy but is it possible to get a permanent voltage display, as I feel it would be super helpful - just like the temp display?
I get the error 5 code. I can tell my heater is running high cause it chews the fuel and gets very hot. It’s an 8kw portable diesel heater with 3 button lcd screen. I have reduced the temperature to 18 degrees. It’s sits outside though which could be 3 degrees so not sure how to stop it working so hard. This is why I think we get an error 5. Any guidance would be super
There's a lot of videos on TH-cam about how to use the various types of controllers & virtually everyone always mentions the priming mode. The majority if not all are self priming. Switch it on & wait no need to press two buttons together.
That will work fine if you've already primed the line before the pump manually. Using a syringe or similar. If you just keep firing it until it lights, your fuel pump will not appreciate that.
I have the same controller and Im stuck, I cant get into any of the settings. the only things I can do is turning the fuel priming on or off and turning the unit on, once the unit is working I can change the fan speed from 1-5 and that is it. On top of everything air temperature coming out of this is barely 150F
@@vanlifesurvivorsguide its exactly the same controller, previously I had webasto installed in my truck for past 12 years, it was 2kw unit and had no problems heating cab in below freezing temperatures, now this chinese heater can barely keep up in above freezing. When I start it up it shows 025 what is that about? Does it mean something? Can anyone here tell me if the error code is E03 glowplug does it mean that the fuel pump does not click as the system has closed it down? I tried to prime it just to see if that was the problem but the controller on this Vevor XMZ-D1 is not exactly the same as the one above. I am new to this and struggling to understand exactly how it all works, I just got this one about one month ago and it worked fine then suddenly started acting up. Thanks for any hints :)
I have this controller on an 8k vevor though it says it's 5k in the settings with no option for 8k. Mine is in Alpine /plateau mode with the lower left mountain icon lit and I can't figure out how to get it out of that mode. All other functions work the same as the video.
When I set the temperature to say 20° the temperature crept up to 32° . Should it maintain the temperature that you set it up to? Dies anyone else have this problem, if so how did you resolve it. Any tips welcome
It'll go to its lowest power setting when it reaches your desired temp, in a lot of situations this is enough to keep the temperature climbing though. It also seems quite slow to catch up to temp changes so it can sometimes be well over the set temp before it realises
Can’t for the life of me get the fuel priming to come up, I’ve disconnected it from the battery unplugged the control unit, gone through every setting and can’t get it onto prime, no countdown nothing, please could I get some help. Plus are there not instruction manuals for these controllers can’t find on on the web and never came with one
@@randomasalways Yea I tried to follow that video when I was setting mine up. The only thing that worked the same was the pump priming. My top leds only display the ambient temp in ⁰C, and I can only change heat output from levels 1-5. I don't have error codes, and I can't get into advanced settings. I'll try to get a video tomorrow or Monday
Also, I have an 8 kW heater there’s not a setting for eight there’s two and there’s five there’s no setting for eight that I can see in the programming. Anybody else have this issue?

How do you turn off the voice prompts? My 2kw came with the same controller and a voice prompts when I turn the heater on or off.
find the lil speaker and probe it with something pointie😁
I have the same controller and Im stuck, I cant get into any of the settings. the only things I can do is turning the fuel priming on or off and turning the unit on, once the unit is working I can change the fan speed from 1-5 and that is it. On top of everything air temperature coming out of this is barely 150F
that sounds like a different controller, are all the icons on the screen the same or are there different ones?
@@vanlifesurvivorsguide its exactly the same controller, previously I had webasto installed in my truck for past 12 years, it was 2kw unit and had no problems heating cab in below freezing temperatures, now this chinese heater can barely keep up in above freezing. Only reason I switched is because repairing and servicing webasto cost as much as new chinese heater
@@marcinpawelek9066 if it was me I would swap the motherboard and controller to ones with better control. then change the settings for a 2kw

Are You in running mode or set mode. To go into the setting you have to be in setting mode and my lcd would not work but the plus button on the remote did.
@@trellgoebel9670 i dont know how to tell the difference
Mines like that but the left button is a cog.😢 I can't set the temperature or timer.
Thanks for any hints :)
so is there no hz settings on these controllers
No but p1-10 is this controllers version of it. that is the constant power mode on this model
@@vanlifesurvivorsguide is that the same function as the hz mode or different?
I don't like this kind of controller. Can I change it to a more user friendly one, similar to the universal one?
How do I connect a new controller to this one
I can't change my temperature on this exact same control box, Can anyone help?
How do you put the control unit to English, please
Is there ANY dieselburner with a normal timer. I mean that repeats heating every day without fiddling with a shitty timer
How to connect it to Bluetooth app?
How do I get it to turn my heater on?
Just long press the power button
Many thanks, turns out my battery was low power and wouldn't start it 🙄😂
I have this controller on an 8k vevor though it says it's 5k in the settings with no option for 8k. Mine is in Alpine /plateau mode with the lower left mountain icon lit and I can't figure out how to get it out of that mode. All other functions work the same as the video.
Thats the mode im trying to get on to. I cannot find out how to do it. apparently it will run more efficiently and slightly cooler on Alpine.
How do I switch it off, I can’t find the off
I need ya help if ya can
My controller looks the same but works slightly differant and its got me screwed
Can you go through this again without pushing the wrong buttons please
Can’t for the life of me get the fuel priming to come up, I’ve disconnected it from the battery unplugged the control unit, gone through every setting and can’t get it onto prime, no countdown nothing, please could I get some help.
Plus are there not instruction manuals for these controllers can’t find on on the web and never came with one
None of these features are available on my 3-button controller! I just received mine last week
it might be a different controller there are a few that look the same
Did you find anything? I've got the same thing and these don't work for me either.
@@randomasalways nope, not yet unfortunately. I might look into buying a different controller
@@jakefye9805 I found one that seems to work for mine, it's a bit different but I just got mine started th-cam.com/video/SbunOk1jjLY/w-d-xo.html
