  • This is a basic breakdown of the common Titan swap and front suspension and drivetrain for Nissan Xterra and Frontier trucks. Be advised that there are gearing issues you will run into if you swap in a M205 diff into a stock Xterra. For more information contact Nissteclifts.com and they will be more than happy to help!

    some additions to the Video. For a titan Swap there is a bit more that goes into it as far as making sure you have the right gear ratios, extended brake lines etc. That being said Nisstec has done all the hard work for you and has a full kit that is 100% bolt on.

      I say trade in the 2WD for a 4WD Frontier. It'll be a lot easier to buy a 4x4 than converting a newer truck like yours into full 4WD. Lots of electrical work there, bud. Not too mention transfer case, etc.

    • @Dagrootx
      @Dagrootx  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No. If you were to swap just the upper arm the tire would be extremely crooked. The titan swap moves the wheel out 3” on each side. So if you just installed the upper arm the top of the tire would be set out 3” and the bottom would stay stock.

    • @Dagrootx

      The front will bolt in. However, since the titan rear axle is wider you will have to cut off rear leaf spring mounts and weld on new mounts. Also, there will be different rear brakes in the rear. You are better off installing a rear axle from a pro4x model. They bolt in and have the 3.63 gearing that you would be looking for.

      Caveman Mario technically yes. You must consider your gear ratios though when installing a differential. Secondly, brakes and spindles won’t work without a bunch of other mods so keep your stock ones. They work fine. Lastly, stock Titan shocks will not fit. They have a different top hat on the coilovers. Companies like nissteclifts.com Prg and rugged rocks sell Titan length coilovers with the frontier/Xterra top hats.

    • @GAPrime
      @GAPrime 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm in the same boat. And you are correct. No M205s came with 3.69s and there are no gear kits for that ratio. The easy solution is to upgrade to 4.10's in both axles or if you're going to go bigger, 4.56s. With the 3.69s going to 35s and 4.10s puts you a bit better than stock. It's effectively 3.78 when compared to stock. Which is more than ample for driving and wheeling performance.

    Is the M205 based on a Dana Axle like the rear is? Just curious, I am very familiar with the rear as I have pulled it apart when I installed my Grizzly locker... haven't had reason to dig into the front yet. Also, is the M226 actually a 8.9 inch gear unlike the 8.5 of a conventional D44? Should of measured it when I had it out but didn't think to. Just curious, not important. I may swap out the front and rear gears at some point for 3.73, but it's fine for now.

    • @Dagrootx
      @Dagrootx  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Daniel Arledge in my opinion waaaay better option. The 6 inch is more of a suspension drop. No extra performance. The Titan swap gives you more travel and much better performance and shock options! If you really want to run 35s run a 2” body lift with the Titan swap and run 4:10 gears.

      vincent barnett so they way it works basically is that if you have the Pro4x version it comes with the same gear ratio as a Titan 3.36. So you can swap in the m205. If you have a manual then you have a different gearing. 3.69 I believe. If you Don’t have a PRO4x then you would either run the longer axles for the r180 or regear your front and rear diffs. You can swap in a pro4x rear axle as well. That’s a common thing that happens due to it having the rear locker as well.

      anthony cook, the steering column only needs to be extended when doing a body lift. you can get away with doing a 2" body lift and there is enough play in the steering shaft for you to loosen the bolt on the shaft and slide it up and lock it back in. Hey, the best place to start is nissteclifts.com. Also, ruggedrocks.com. Both are great companies who support Nissan trucks. Also, for some of the general Overland stuff. Frontrunner.com has some great stuff! Good luck and feel free to reach out if you have more questions.

    Thanks again for this video. It convinced me to get a different daily driver car and save my Xterra for a Titan swap. I'll check your shop first. Cheers

      Gear ratio on frontier and Xterra pro4x is the same with the Titan m205 4x4 models. 3.36. If you don’t have a pro4x frontier then you can run the stock front differential but you will need extended axles from nissteclifts.com

    • @Dagrootx

    • @Dagrootx
      @Dagrootx  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Alex Rodríguez basically. The Radflo shocks are hands down a far superior shock in every way. Valving is much better and provides much smoother ride as well as internal protections for heavy hits when off road.

    • @Dagrootx
      @Dagrootx  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, it’s much stronger and you get a lot more travel. And the travel is where it makes it so much better. I suggest the RADFLOS due to them being the best application. They were specifically designed for the Titan swap application. Also, NISSTEC is the best place to get them.

      @Sm0k3y707 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      DaGrootX yah I’ll eventually do it, just don’t have 2k in spending money to drop on a full swap, and labor. Also I just bought rock sliders that are specific for the oem ride height. Wouldn’t I have to remove them once or modify them once I do a titan swap?

    • @Dagrootx
      @Dagrootx  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Greg Williams. The Titan swap would not change anything with the sliders. Your probably thinking of a body lift. That’s something different entirely.

    Does the Titan sway bar work with the swap or do we need a custom sway bar?

    • @jkutyna
      @jkutyna 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. sway bars will go away due to where they have to bolt up to the subframe. You can't even run a Fronty with the sway bar and simple 2" spacers in the front for lift without some sort of modification. That said, if you're raising your truck or going the route of a Titan swap, a sway bar is one of the last things you want on your truck. It'll absolutely kill your ride and completely crush your wheel articulation which is already limited due to it being an IFS.

      First of all, Cummins makes a 2.8L diesel that will drop right into a Frontier. Watch TFLnow video where they test drive a Frontier with a Nissan rep. Second, you sound like a triggered little CONservative crying those big snowflake tears over what whole government is doing to clean up our vehicle emissions, not just Democrats. Finally, not all plants like CO2. Are you a scientist?

      DaGrootX that being said the “titan swap” is actually doable on a pathfinder ?

    • @pra3t0rian

      DaGrootX only the V8 pathfinder came with a 205 and hybrid cv’s. The V6 pathfinders front end is exactly the same as the xterra and frontier. So yes a titan swap is doable.
