    Great Video, I dislike the 22” ride also. My 2006 XL rides better with 20” wheels.

    Problem with "factory take offs" is they are usually made of chinesium and made in the great PRC..... even when you get them from the stealership. That said the rims are a crap shoot, even with 18" rims they can still bend and crack. The dealership will sell you OEM rims but the price is enough to make you sick. Getting them used from the second hand maket is the best option

      chubby chicken These ARE used and purchased second hand. Take offs mean they came off a new truck. And with 18” wheels you are far less likely to have them crack than 22” because of the extra cushion from a larger sidewall

    Looks great to me and I hope the wife is happy with them.
    I learned my lesson with low profile tires ~10 years ago and it was an expensive lesson at that. The older I get I realize the engineers who design these vehicles rarely get things wrong. In my neck of the woods adding a "lift kit" is very popular, they will spend the least money possible and almost immediately regret it.

      poot111111 Time is one of the best teachers! My wife was so happy she told me to put them on rather than go to bed- usually the opposite when working on the Mustangs ha ha

    I buy smaller wheels so I can mount winter tires because I live up north.

    Just not seeing where you put a link for the tire size calculator.

  • @justin.c_svt

    Looks good. I’d just forget about the sensors for now. No need to unmount new tires for that (if that’s what you were going to do)

      Yeah, I agree. I do not want to open pandora’s box with everything otherwise perfect. I actually laughed a bit because when I see the low tire light it looks like an all-terrain tire, so I just say that’s how I know I have those wheels on 😅

      On my ext the tire pressure warning comes on every time I start the truck and will stay on until I switch it to display something different. Arghhh. 😂

    I am looking to do the same thing on my '22 Denali, but I am reading that the AT4 wheels will not work on the Denali due to the AT4 wheels rubbing on the Denali's brake calipers. Did you experience any issues like this?

    Same situation here. I run 22's and looking for 20's for a smoother ride.

      20s will be a little better. I for sure feel the difference on these 18” wheels!

      Same wheel I’m looking at for 99 Sierra. Downgrading 20s to 18s hoping to achieve better ride.

      Same. I have platinum Escalade 22’s bit would only switch to the newer alfredoibarra127@gmail.com snowflake 20’, 22’s.

    That crack can definitely be repaired and wheel still be used after or sell as is or repaired with disclosure of condition of wheel of course.

    How did you crack the rim? Would it helps if you put thicker tires? I think the 22 look better.

    • @dannyjohnsonsgarage
      @dannyjohnsonsgarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      It was cracked when I bought the Yukon. It probably was a pot hole. I like the 22s better for look but much better like the squishy sidewall

  • @ddellwo

    If the price was $1100 for the package that was a dang good deal - you’d probably pay that much for just replacement tires! Too bad the sensors didn’t work as that can be a pretty big expense by the time you break down the tires and remount them. I think I liked the look of the 22’s slightly better (more street - less off-road) but I suspect I’d also much prefer the ride of the 18’s. The noise issue can be a big deal on a “family truckster” vehicle - especially if you take a lot of long trips. But kind of like drone with an exhaust system, everyone has their own tolerance level.

      Just throw some Flowmaster 40's on there!

    • @dannyjohnsonsgarage
      @dannyjohnsonsgarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I like wheels since they can be easily changed out. I still have the 22s and they were my favorite wheel for the Yukon. I’ll likely repair the rim and use them around town, but weather driving and such I think I’ll be pretty happy I have the all-terrain tires for now.

    • @dannyjohnsonsgarage
      @dannyjohnsonsgarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I took the torx screws out but but didn’t pull them off fully in fear of breaking the tabs. I assume thats how they could be removed and cleaned

    why do you call them take off wheels?

    • @dannyjohnsonsgarage
      @dannyjohnsonsgarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is the term when they are new from a vehicle but then “taken off” as a new, yet “used” part
