For the rear view mirror, take off that trim right above the mirror and there will be a t15 under there that’s loose, tighten it up and it’ll be good as new

Good info, thanks for posting. Ours is a 2018 Yukon, and several TPMS tire pressure sender batteries have died. I recommend do all four when one goes. Give THANKS
My rearview mirror is exactly the same. I drive a 2017 suburban flops around hard to adjust doesn’t make me happy lol also I have what I think are transmission issues 3-2 downshift but GM says it’s normal. My my motor mounts were replaced as well. I love my truck. Solid as a rock and unstoppable in the snow. I’m in Canada.
Thank for this, glad to hear its mostly reliable. My wife and I are looking at possibly buying a 2015 Suburban. We currently have a 2013 Grand Caravan, and the minivan while functionally is fine. It struggle in carrying heavy items plus people. My wife is handicapped and uses a scooter, when we load the van with people and luggage plus scooter. The van struggles.
EPA forced GM to run a 180 degree thermostat in transmissions. Buy the $46 Sure Cool part #STL010 thermostat delete. Will keep your trans oil temp cooler.
Great video! We just traded my wife’s 2014 Durango for a 2017 Certified Pre Owned Yukon. I’ve always been a GM guy (my daily is a 2011 Silverado 1500 crew cab Z71), but I’ve never owned anything from this generation of GM trucks/suvs. Hoping it’ll last us a long time! It's important to note, several of those issues (if not all) were addressed by the later years. If you like this generation of Tahoe/Yukon, as I do, go for a 2018 or later model year. ;-)
Thank you for this! I find it crazy that this truck has so many issues. I have a 2008 lexus gx470, no issues... Not one. I'm looking at a suburban becausw I have a grown family and could use the room. Will def look at 2018 + instead
2016 Yukon XL SLT owner here (62k miles). I watched your video regarding the LED taillights. And I’m glad. Because the dealership (via GM) did replace it for free and it has a warranty too (I forgot the warranty mileage coverage). Nevertheless, thanks for these videos giving great info. Much needed and you definitely got a subscribe from em.
I have a 2015 GMC Yukon I bought brand new. I was even the first person to test drive. My ac went out, my vacuum line on my breaks went out, my circuit went out for my break lights. All before 85k miles.
The vacuum pump for brakes are under a recall. The brake lights in the back were a 30 minute fix if you are handy. Lots of videos on how to fix it. AC has condenser issues where side connections. crack. It was also a recall but only up to 65k miles I believe. There is also an AC line that comes out of the compressor that has a weird bend that cracks. Had to replace both. I have a 2015 Denali for reference.
Thank you! Very informative, I’ve had just about all these issues! Another major issue you didn’t mention which I’m hearing as a common problem, gas leak! I had to shell out $$$ the fuel pump deteriorated and I had a major leak 😵

Actually, I fixed the common issues they all will have, and the repair videos make more than the payments so it worked out . It’s been a very enjoyable and reliable truck. If you’re scared of working on cars I can understand this isn’t for you. For me it’s a great vehicle for my channel and my family. 🙌🏼
We’ve had most of these issues on our 2015 Yukon. Ours uses 1+ courts of oil every 2k miles. We are lucky to make it to 5k miles before the “add engine oil” warning comes on. The solution from the dealership is to get the oil changed more often. We finally got them to replace rings under warranty and so far the oil consumption is worse... we will see. Their other solution was to trade it in... lol
GAH. I have a dumptruck with 900000 miles that doesn't drank oil like that. Went to buy one today cash.. then watched some of these videos and comments.. Thanks for save garage man and everyone else.
LS/LT engines consume oil you need to change the oil before 3500 miles. What rings did they replace exactly? piston? that won't stop oil consumption there may be a leak in rear main seal or even oil pan. They're notorious to wear after 100k miles
Do you have any experience with power assist step problems on a 2018 Tahoe? My passenger side step will extend, but immediately retract before my passenger can get in the vehicle. Door still open and no apparent obstruction causing it to retract.
I have a 2015 yukon. I love it but the power seat and side mirrors both stopped working at the same time. I checked the fuses and they're not blown. Any advice?
How about mentioning the starter and the sqeak at intial startup. Sounds like belts or tensioner but it's not. It's annoying when you pay $70,000. Great video, thanks for sharing. Follow up it's the exhaust flap that chirps on intial startup 🙄
Mine had / has the same issue. Had to replace the rear modules and also the rear harness plug. They tried telling me that I had to replace the whole harness from the front going back to the rear but I told them that was a no go at over 1k just for that. I've replaced the rear sensors twice. My left seat vibrating warning system also went sending another side service alert.
Have a problem, brake and gas pedal won't adjust anymore. When you try to adjust, I get a clicking sound under the driver seat. 2015 chevrolet suburban ltz

The 2021 Tahoes' with the 3.0L duramax seem to have a crank no start problem. The starter cranks for 20 seconds then shuts off. restarts OK. Any recommendations on a fix
Great video I had some of these problems you mentioned in your video I got a question for you right now. I have a message in my dashboard showing service keyless entry everything working fine. I can start the engine with a remote without the remote everything working fine except just message any idea about how to fix this problem I already replace the battery in the remote control that didn’t seem to help.
Great video! I have a issues with my 2015 Yukon audio show to be turn off and won’t play dvd but it will play radio. I cycle the vehicle off a few time and dvd start to play. Any ideas what it might be?
Probably just the dvd system itself. On mine it sometimes won’t play sound until I go to the main menu, press MEDIA, go back into the video option and play it again
The overall size will be the same with a smaller rim and larger tire with more cushion. I went with AT4 wheels that were a 18" rim and the ride was much smoother th-cam.com/video/Jngnmm-wXnw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=fkcXT3OiKpig9wpI
Please help/advise! I want to remove the storage compartment from the rear section of my 2015 suburban. I’ve removed the seats and that storage thing is silly and useless. I can’t figure out how/where it’s attached. Can you help please?
On my Yukon 2015 you pull up a thin bottom mat inside the box. There are two plastic twist bolts . I just did it by hand and then the whole storage box can be pulled out..
Just happened to me there was so much mouse crud that it dropped down into the fan motor below. Had my mechanic to open fan and clean out the crud he also found a snake skin in there eeekkk.
2015 suburban with 140k currently. Side detection modules. ( NY salt) replaced both rear modules twice. Rear harness replaced as well. When the modules and or harness get bad enough it will lead to so many codes you can't start the vehicle or when running won't allow you to place vehicle in gear. Wheel bearings both front bearings replaced twice. Drivers seat vibrating warning system left side quit working. Radio is bat shit crazy and randomly changes. Bad ground to engine. Bad battery fuse. Defrost wires come off rear window. Side door panels fell off on highway before tape could be applied. Wheel clear coat came off pitting chrome. Good things. No engine issues. No leaks anywhere No transmission issues Great space for all the minions Looks great, even when it leaves you stranded! 😂
@@ericrocha4693 I believe they do. The dealer had to do all this work for me as I could not fully diagnose or program the modules. I've replaced both rear modules twice so far.
That’s my guess. You’ll have to take it in to find out. They had just replaced ours before we bought it. I want to say $800 or so, but I didn’t pay for it
@@kjkj6362 Well, it needs the Freon because it leaked out, but if it leaked there is a crack in the condenser or somewhere else. They will only know When they test the system and add refrigerant (usually also a die to see where it’s leaking)
How about whistling noise coming from the rear right D pillar at highway speeds 70+ especially if it’s windy. Do you know anything about it? I’ve tried just about everything and even had the dealer take the trim off and cut the excess urethane under the window so the trim would sit more flush. It’s still slightly higher than the window where the driver side is slightly lower than the window and no noise coming from it. Didn’t know if you had come across this or might have any insight. Thanks!
What about the radio? My radio is all over the place! I have a 2016 ltz Tahoe. It jumps from station to station and if the phone is connected it goes crazy too.
I'm having this same issue and it looks like there were about 25 different part numbers for the same radio. Looks like I've gotta pull it out so I can cross reference :/
2018 Yukon Denali - My stabilitrack light comes on, the digital display of park, drive, etc goes away, transmission feel like it is in neutral, if you pull over an wait about 10 minutes are restart it runs but the engine light is still on. Dealership said it was a bad wiring harness in the transmission, had it replaced - expensive fix, have driven about 1500 miles, now same thing is happening? Has anyone had this problem?
Can you make a video on the window not going all the way down please. Window goes up and down with no issues but when going down it does not go all the way.
No problems so far. Here is my collection of features and fixes including a common transmission harness th-cam.com/play/PLIjr-uSYDZi7J7EQ1ErTn1Yzi6ET_3Ssr.html
If it’s a tapping it may be from a bent or broken lifter. The cylinder deactivation can not always come back off and it bends or breaks the lifters. At some point I’ll need to make a video on deactivating or even deleting the active fuel management (AFM)
Thanks for the vids👍👍 ive got a 2019 suburban and the license plate lights went out on me along with so.e of the trailer lights, I changed a few bad fuses and got the trailer lights back functioning but I am stumped on the license plate lights, I believe this happend when I pulled my boat out of the water, guess I went in a little deep and exposed the harness adapter to water... any ideas on how to get this lit back up? I've had no issues with the rear running or brake lights... tested all of the other fuses and they are working... also do u know if the police fuse is for the governor 🤔 I checked around but got no straight answers... can't do over 110😉 thanks 🙏
I'm looking at a 2015 Yukon Denali on monday with 137k on the clock. This video was great for things to look for. Its priced at $29.995 do you think this is a good price for it with the mileage and what else should i look for? Thanks
Any ideas on why my digital display goes black between the speedometer and tachometer on hot days. If I shut the car off on a hot day and go to start it again, it’s black. Nada. Once cooled down, it will come back on.
I have a 2015 Denali XL and only problem were the plastic covers behind the windows. GM changed the clip design even though they did not admit to having a problem (everyone I know with this style escalade Yukon or Tahoe had the problem) after 2016 the clips don't break anymore. 100 thousand miles and problem free. Touch wood
There is likely a setting for automatic shutoff that you could have turned off in the vehicle’s tune, but it’s not a common feature to turn off. I would find a near by tuning shop that has a “dyno” and then with a hand held tuner like in the link below they can write a custom tune that turns that feature off. Maybe even call the company SCT in the link and ask them www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08VS3Q9SF/ref=as_li_qf_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=2004047-20&creative=9325&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=B08VS3Q9SF&linkId=569019563d9596ac0dd87eb2912d290e
Do you ever hear of problems with the air pressure in the car? Felt that when we would go over bumps the cabin pressure would fluctuate and bother my ears.
It’s either a bad shift solenoid or low transmission fluid. You can try adding fluid as shown in this video. Watch the end for the procedure to fill it. Is it a 8 or 10 speed? th-cam.com/video/Bu_isDRd9lI/w-d-xo.html
@@kirshawebb8957 It will be the same as in the video. You can try changing the fluid and filter (the fluid you need is in the video description). Hopefully it’s that and not the shift solenoid

I've had so many issues with my 2015 (pretty much everything you listed) in addition to some rattling sound that I can't for the life of me figure out. I'll end up at the shop but considering you pretty much touched on all these common issues I figured I'd ask if you've heard weather what I described is another known issue & hoping a somewhat simple fix? I found a service bulletin dated February 2020 mentioning a ticking, rattle and or buzzing heard from inside passenger compartment, possible fuel leak. On Yukon & Yukon XL 2015-2020 models

Is it a good deal to get 15’ Suburban with 475k miles (NYC VIP Taxi). It looks to be well maintained (100k on a new engine), new transmission, (minor scratches, paint good, no interior damage) for $12k
Allot of issues for a relatively new. I just bought a used Tahoe and somewhat regret it. I don't buy a newer vehicle for a project car! But I got one now.
Just purchased a 2015 denali with 98,000 miles. Noticed on the drive home a serious shake when the truck is in v4 mode and sometimes when it shifts. Seems as though the fix is a transmission fluid change. Have you experienced this?

I was so interested in getting a Tahoe of this generation, but now after watching this, I might go a different route because they seem to have so many small problems. Thanks for the video!
Yep. They are definitely good trucks if you’re able to work on cars. If your not, they may not be for you. I’ve been able to fix all the problems myself with hand tools in my own garage, but that’s not for everyone.
I like all of the information you’re putting up. I have a 2015 Tahoe ltz, I just replaced all the struts but now it’s too bouncy and I have no idea what to do next, any suggestions? Thanks
We are looking at a new suburban. We have a 2015 suburban with AC issues. Love the "bells and whistles" of the 2021 but worried about possible issues with the new models. Are you still having problems? We're also looking at the Sequoia.
Our a/c condenser was bad on the sales lot so they fixed it. I haven’t had any other problems over 2 years, but there is also some kind of bracket that’s supposed to help support what breaks. I need to look into that more. Being the 2021 is brand new, I would suspect some problems for the first 2 years or so

Ask about repairs. I have videos on a lot of things that go bad (tail lights, transmission temp sensor), trim pieces by the doors. They are just little things and then the suv is a great one! Some people complain about lifters in the engine going bad around 100k so just something to consider

I have a problem in my tahoe which i think is the same as yukon. My issue is that when i fill the fuel into the tank the pump shut off before the fuel indicator reach the top. So i don't know where the screen indicator is faulty or the pump sht off early. My car is 2019 tahoe 19000 km still under warranty.
Sometimes the angle of the fuel pump nozzle effects and triggers the pump to turn off. See if it happens at other pumps or try holding the handle at different angles
Well i tried again as you told me but still the same problem. What happens also is that the gaz indecator keeps moving up and down for a minute or so than stops somewhere in the middle. My second question is that i can't find AUX input in my tahoe, what is the alternative for that, because i like listening to podcast from soundcloud and other apps on my Samsung phone

Thank you for posting this and all your videos! They have been very helpful in fixing my taillight and a couple other small issues. I was wondering if you have ran into any issue with your rear wiper? Mine makes this awful almost grinding sound when I turn it on. I don't think it's normal, but thought I'd ask before making an appointment with the dealership.
It shouldn’t make a grinding noise but the wiper itself drags on the window and can make an unpleasant dry rubbing sound. It may have a bad motor for the wiper if it’s grinding
This was the first GMC vehicle we bought for my wife and is the reason I will never buy another GMC vehicle ever again. We had to go as far as contacting the actual office of the CEO for GMC to actually get shit resolved at the dealership because the first couple years we had the vehicle, we were in there literally every couple months. Transmission Issues, Torque Converter Issues, Fuel Injector Problems, Lifters, Cat Converter Failed, Magnetic Ride Suspension shot, A/C Condenser broke, Radiator Broke, Shark Fin Antenna leaking water into cab (worst F'in design ever-drain at the top instead of at the bottom), probably a few more I missed. 100% the biggest POS I have ever spent money on. The only saving grace was we bought the extended warranty which covered everything I mentioned above, except the front struts. I even paid for another extended bumper to bumper basically for the next 5 years and an additional 100K miles because I know I'll need it. OK, rant over, lol!!!!
When I have people ask me about the Yukon, I tell them it’s a good SUV if you’re willing to work on a lot of the problems it has. It has been a great track for my channel because I have been able to make tutorials, but definitely not good if you are spending full price to have a lot of little problems. Otherwise I have very much enjoyed our Yukon and it is a great vehicle. Sorry you had such a bad experience. Usually you can get a full refund and compensation through a lemon law
@@dannyjohnsonsgarage Ya, it has def been enjoyable when it was running properly and knock on wood, we haven't had anymore issues in the last year, probably because we replaced damn near everything, lol! We purchased it a couple years old, and it wasn't from a GM Dealer, so no lemon law available for us. Oh well, live and learn and thanks for the great video explaining everything
Thank you for letting us know about all these issues. I was looking to pull the trigger on a 2016 Tahoe with the 5.3, but I’m probably going to take a pass. Don’t have the time/patience anymore to deal with dumb issues like that anymore. Especially when paying such a high price for these vehicles.
Finally sold this POS back to the dealership now that used car prices are at all time highs. Having the shift cable fall off and strand my wife was the last straw. One of the happiest days getting rid of this turd

Their other solution was to trade it in... lol
Sorry to hear that!
Try adding an oil catch can. Oil goes up thru PCV then goes into intake manifold

How about mentioning the starter and the sqeak at intial startup. Sounds like belts or tensioner but it's not. It's annoying when you pay $70,000. Great video, thanks for sharing. Follow up it's the exhaust flap that chirps on intial startup 🙄
Did you figure out what the squeak was? We just got a 2016 Suburban and it squeaked when I turned it on WTF
i believe it could also be a pump near the front that could be causing that noise. Indeed it is annoying.

Question, I’m having a “service side detection system” alert, but the dealer says the car just needs a bath. That didn’t work. Any suggestions?
Mine had / has the same issue. Had to replace the rear modules and also the rear harness plug. That’s my guess. You’ll have to take it in to find out. They had just replaced ours before we bought it. I want to say $800 or so, but I didn’t pay for it
@@dannyjohnsonsgarage The salesman said it is probably Freon only needed charge. Is it possible that’s just the issue?

There is likely a setting for automatic shutoff that you could have turned off in the vehicle’s tune, but it’s not a common feature to turn off. I would find a near by tuning shop that has a “dyno” and then with a hand held tuner like in the link below they can write a custom tune that turns that feature off.
