For those interested, here is the math: Rarity 12 Decorations can only drop from Sealed Feystones. The chance for a Sealed Feystone to contain a rarity 12 Decoration is 8% (7.998% to be precise). The chance for a purple Investigation reward to be a Sealed Feystone is 80%. (for tier 3 Monsters) This means that an Investigation with 5 purple rewards has an expected value of 4 Sealed Feystones and with that an expected value of 0.32 Rarity 12 Decorations, meaning it (on average) a bit more than 3 of these to get an unspecified Rarity Decoration. An Investigation with 4 purple rewards has an expected value of 3.2 Sealed Feystones and with that an expected value of 0.256 Rarity 12 Decorations, meaning it (on average) a bit less than 4 of these to get an unspecified Rarity Decoration. Investigations with 3 or less purple rewards are never worth it, as there are Event quests that always drop 3 Sealed Feystones and have a very small chance for some more. (in fact so many more, that in these Quests you can theoretically gain 7 Sealed Feystones in one Reward, but this has a chance of below 0.1%). The Chance for not getting a Rarity 12 Decoration in the first 10 Quests was ~5.82%. The Chance for Giddys event (not getting a Rarity 12 Decoration in the first 10 Quests but then getting one in the 11th Quest) was ~1.35%. In Conclusion: always(!) do Investigations with 5 purple rewards on tier 3 when hunting Rarity 12 Decorations. stay safe
Addendum and correction: In the afore mentioned Eventquest you can get up to 24 Sealed Feystones but this will never happen. HOWEVER using a lucky Voucher for one of these Quests raises the expected value of Sealed Streamstones to 3.77, making it still worse than investigations with 5 purple rewards but a good bit better than investigations with 4 purple rewards.
You also gotta keep in mind the time to complete. The tempered elder dragons event quests are usually faster to compete and load into as they are area quests as well as sos always being available ensuring 4 player hunts. So depending on your individual time discrepancy it might be much better to do the event quest over the 5 box tier 3 investigations :)
@@robinbruce7838 It depends on a couple of things: If you have a lucky voucher if fully agree, the event quests are the best for farming. If you dont it depends on your build and on how well you can utilize the area. As far as i can tell, the monsters in the event quests are not noticably different from normal investigation tempered elders, meaning that using roaming ballista and dragonrazor with heavy artillery 2 will generally make this quest easier than a normal investigation. HOWEVER: the difference in expected values if you don use a lucky voucher isn't nothing, its almost an entire Sealed Feystone per Quest. That means you would have to run the quest 4 times for the same(ish) outcome of 3 runs of an investigation. Firing SoS introduces a lot of randomness into the runs duration and success rate, i would (if you really want to farm efficiently) do it solo or only with a regular group. Also take into account that every Quest reset takes some time (eating, steamworkds, short breaks, refilling items, posting quest). Also the amount of time you have makes a difference. If you only came online for one hunt, do the investigation. If you came online for a 5 hour hunting session, the difference is not that obvious. In the end it comes down to preference. With a good endgame build i would say that investigations are a good bit better, but then again you usually farm these to GET an endgame build, so the cannons etc. in the event quest can offset the shortcomings of your build (just remember to pack in heavy artillery)

@@ToraXII The laws of probability are fucked up like that. On the plus side, I've had two Attack +4 decos drop in the last week after coming back to the game. I never had a single one drop during my thousands of hours preceding that.

So funny story. I’ve only recently gotten into Monster Hunter. And after 300+ hours, I finally get the last attack 4 jewel for my builds. What makes it funny is that the quest I get it from was Alatreon Blazing Twilight. Literally the only gem I got from soloing him.
Speed Eating would've saved me as well. The mushroom eating animation was just a little bit too slow. But I do think Stun Resistance is better than Speed Eating when it comes to Mushroomancer combos :)
I found it was better to farm the Tempered Kushala Daora Event quest. If you look into how to "head lock" him, clearing a quest can take about 2-4 minutes with HBG or GS. I managed to get 4 Attack Boost 4 decos, 2 Expert 4 decos, 3 Crit Boost/divine blessing (I think?) and only 1 Challenger 4 in around 180+ kills! Good luck to people still playing! Nice to see YT still recommends new MHW content lol
Not sure how rare it is to happen but the blacksmith straight up gave me a rarity 12 critical eye jewel. Still don’t know what for to this day I think it was something everyone gets I just happen to get an ultra rare jewel lol
I think technically tempered kushala is most efficient because you can permadown him with spread hbg but most people run “day of ruin” taostra, which I believe is overall the most efficient. Plus always people farming it so ez sos for chill mp farming
Fun fact I believe nergigante repopulates asexually, so they are all more or less clones of eachother so my head cannon is the second one remembered what you did to it and got it's revenge 😂
My most memorable luck will always be me getting two attack decos in the same quest in high rank. Was the only person in my friend group that had 7 attack jewels lol

I have like 900 hours in the game and I have a lot of lv12 decos! There is an event quest where you hunt a tempered furious Rajang and after you do it you get celestial melding tickets which have the highest chance of droping lv12 decos
There's 3 Event quests that give ALOT of high tier Deco: tempered teostra, lunastra and kushala daora in the velkhana arena ! Those missions , with the right party or solo setup tend to only take 5-10 minutes per try. That will give you atleast 40-60 Deco per hour.
As an endemic life expert who has caught every single rare one in multiple sizes, including the Wintermoon Nettle, that Emerald Helmcrab fail was painful to watch 😅
I don't plan to watch the entire video, but I just wanna drop by to say that one of my first level 4 gems was rarity 12. An Expert Jewel+, giving 2 levels to Critical Eye. Perhaps one of my favourite decorations in the game
Im sure it may have been a lost cause anyway, but at 1:30 did you know you can shorten your stun time by rapidly move left and right and it causes you to recover faster
I have about 5000 hours across several monster hunter games and I've mained Swag Axe in about 99.999% of that time (got into hammer and heavybow guns in World). You did really good with switch axe, the only mild critique is that 360 jumping attack in sword mode isn't worth the the damage for it's super long animation and okay motion value, usually getting you hit, when you can get 4-6 regular swings in the same time frame that would charge your Zero Sum Discharge faster.
We REALLY need to get you your Fatalis headgear for full Stun Resist. Grinding with being able to be stunned is not fun. Also when you get enough decos and Elder Spiritvein bones you should try melding like loads of Sealed Feystones to see how many Rarity 12s you can get from them.
trust me, Fatalis gear is a life saver. Me and a friend have grinded for those evil eyes (very painful btw), but afterwards we handle monsters A LOT better now with that stun resistance.
The SA makes hunts too much one sided so I put a seal on it to give monster a chance, and other weapons a chance too. However when situations demand force I pick it up again.
Wow, i haven't done investigations since base World. The tempered elder event quets give much better odds for rare 12s and you never need to worry about losing the quest to a failed hunt. Kind of a shame that the IB event quest killed the need to do investigations.
I have a question 🙋♀️so me had somehow gotten a earplugs 4 decoration in the base game without dlc (don't ask me how I got that through the story line It just popped up in my box😐) and I'm wondering if that could even be equipped with any base armor/weapons or I cannot without dlc armor pieces? When you're out on a quest, pick up "gold scales" tracks. They'll get you a new purple exclamation mark (!) above an NPCs head in Astera. You may have already done this, check the Gathering Hub quest counter to see if you have a recon quest!
i didnt realize they had rarity so i decided to check my 1200 hour account after seeing this. i have 4 1 for 2 levels of earplugs 1 for 2 levels of attack boost 2 for 2 levels of critical eye
1. depands how much effort you put into grinding 2. depands how lucky you are to be honest I got 5 Attack +4 jewels in round about 100hrs 3 on my LS main and 2 on my IG😅😂 everything I did was grinding the event quest "day of ruin"
i've farm for so long my hand is tired my blood, boiled Teo after Teo left in my wakes as i awaits the good drop I am John Iceborne, blade of the 5th fleet and I never got Attack jewel +4
Ooooh so that explains how I have a critical eye 4 jewel. I was wondering where tf I got that from cuz I'm still in early iceborne so I'm only dropping ancient stones and they don't drop rarity 12 ones
It took me like 1 week to get 3 expert 4s and 2 attack 4s…. After 600 hours of NOTHING I still need challenger 4 jewel. Btw got them all from Fatalis oddly enough
@@GiddyFoxGaming I think it was a huge string of luck too.. because I had 80 or so fatalis kills with no good gems then in the next 10 kills I got those gems. You only get 2-3 gems at a time
You really need to trick the desire sensor of the game if you wanna get some rare decos. Like make it think you are farming for rare monster parts but in reality you are secretly working on getting juicy jewels lol
Btw you might remember that I was having some difficulties with Alatreon. I did bunch of safi runs with randoms (man i love this community, ngl.) and got the full set. I killed alatreon with ease in like 6-7 hunts. My physical damage (or damage in general was not enough, he was about to die ;_;. He did killed me with escaton once. But I prevailed. Next stop is solo fatalis, like alatreon solo.
Doing Day of Ruin for 20 Hours over 3 days, only to get 1 Agitator Jewel+ 4 has gotta be the most aids experience I had in Monster Hunter World, using a HP mod to perfectly stun lock with a semi-maxed out HBG build to make it the most efficient. (It was worth it)
@@GiddyFoxGaming Lmao but yeah, Day of Ruin, The Kushala Daora one and The Lunastra one all get you Rarity 12 Jewels most of the time you do a run. Kushala has the best Hitzones for HBG but Teostra is much easier to perma-stun, especially with Heroics. A HBG spread build is really easy to setup allowing for comfy Jewels to be added. When i was farming, i was averaging about 3-4 minutes per run. my runs ended up being 2 and a half minutes in the last few hours of the grind.
im the only one who wants a only punchy run? just the big monsters , so you can skip the jagras and kestodon fast and start working on punchy the greatest of hunters xD

Pin my comment for visibility please: With more than 1000h in MHW (both PC & PS4 combined) the easiest way to farm such decos is doing the Event Quest: Day of Ruin (Slaying a Tempered Teostra in the Seliana Supply Cache Arena). Bring a HBG Spread build and shred him up within 5 minutes (solo). You'll get all the decos you need. I'm willing to share my build in case someone is interested. Happy hunting folks! 🥰
rarity 12 aren’t THAT rare... It’s getting a SPECIFIC one, like attack+, agi+ or handi+ that can take hundreds of hours of farming. There’s a guy in here with 3500hours that still hasn’t seen 1 handi+, and another that got an attack+ in only 30 teostra runs

The rarity 12s have really good skill combinations. And the best rarity 12s are things like Challenger+4 or Attack+4 which are used in a Ton of builds 😊

To be fair Ruiner Nergigante is the easyest Elder Dragon in the whole series, even normal Nergi is harder.
Try doing a fatalis or alatreon solo with switch axe ... you will then find every other monster surprisingly easy

Im sure it may have been a lost cause anyway, but at 1:30 did you know you can shorten your stun time by rapidly move left and right and it causes you to recover faster
Edit - Yes at 4:00 you are able to escape that stun MUCH faster, i assumed i just couldnt hear your keyboard on the last clip!

I have about 5000 hours across several monster hunter games and I've mained Swag Axe in about 99.999% of that time (got into hammer and heavybow guns in World). You did really good with switch axe, the only mild critique is that 360 jumping attack in sword mode isn't worth the the damage for it's super long animation and okay motion value, usually getting you hit, when you can get 4-6 regular swings in the same time frame that would charge your Zero Sum Discharge faster.

We REALLY need to get you your Fatalis headgear for full Stun Resist. Grinding with being able to be stunned is not fun.
Also when you get enough decos and Elder Spiritvein bones you should try melding like loads of Sealed Feystones to see how many Rarity 12s you can get from them.
I would really like some Fatalis gear. I definitely need to set some time aside to get some Fatalis taken down
trust me, Fatalis gear is a life saver. Me and a friend have grinded for those evil eyes (very painful btw), but afterwards we handle monsters A LOT better now with that stun resistance.

I got one on my first tempered Zinogre event quest with 80 hrs in. This is my second save tho, I dont have a single Atk+ deco on my 900hr save
The SA makes hunts too much one sided so I put a seal on it to give monster a chance, and other weapons a chance too.
However when situations demand force I pick it up again.

Wow, i haven't done investigations since base World. The tempered elder event quets give much better odds for rare 12s and you never need to worry about losing the quest to a failed hunt.
Kind of a shame that the IB event quest killed the need to do investigations.

When you're out on a quest, pick up "gold scales" tracks. They'll get you a new purple exclamation mark (!) above an NPCs head in Astera.
You may have already done this, check the Gathering Hub quest counter to see if you have a recon quest!

i didnt realize they had rarity so i decided to check my 1200 hour account after seeing this. i have 4
1 for 2 levels of earplugs
1 for 2 levels of attack boost
2 for 2 levels of critical eye

@@GiddyFoxGaming I think it was a huge string of luck too.. because I had 80 or so fatalis kills with no good gems then in the next 10 kills I got those gems. You only get 2-3 gems at a time

Btw you might remember that I was having some difficulties with Alatreon. I did bunch of safi runs with randoms (man i love this community, ngl.) and got the full set. I killed alatreon with ease in like 6-7 hunts. My physical damage (or damage in general was not enough, he was about to die ;_;. He did killed me with escaton once. But I prevailed. Next stop is solo fatalis, like alatreon solo.

Doing Day of Ruin for 20 Hours over 3 days, only to get 1 Agitator Jewel+ 4 has gotta be the most aids experience I had in Monster Hunter World, using a HP mod to perfectly stun lock with a semi-maxed out HBG build to make it the most efficient. (It was worth it)
I didn't even get an Agitator 4 gem 🤣 I got something much worse haha
@@GiddyFoxGaming Lmao but yeah, Day of Ruin, The Kushala Daora one and The Lunastra one all get you Rarity 12 Jewels most of the time you do a run. Kushala has the best Hitzones for HBG but Teostra is much easier to perma-stun, especially with Heroics. A HBG spread build is really easy to setup allowing for comfy Jewels to be added. When i was farming, i was averaging about 3-4 minutes per run. my runs ended up being 2 and a half minutes in the last few hours of the grind.

With more than 1000h in MHW (both PC & PS4 combined) the easiest way to farm such decos is doing the Event Quest: Day of Ruin (Slaying a Tempered Teostra in the Seliana Supply Cache Arena). Bring a HBG Spread build and shred him up within 5 minutes (solo). You'll get all the decos you need.
I'm willing to share my build in case someone is interested.

rarity 12 aren’t THAT rare... It’s getting a SPECIFIC one, like attack+, agi+ or handi+ that can take hundreds of hours of farming. There’s a guy in here with 3500hours that still hasn’t seen 1 handi+, and another that got an attack+ in only 30 teostra runs
i got one 140 hours in after hunting zinogre like 10 times in total(attack jewel 4+)

The rarity 12s have really good skill combinations. And the best rarity 12s are things like Challenger+4 or Attack+4 which are used in a Ton of builds 😊
