The Civivi Ki-V is an Ostap Hel design. Great designer. It has the spirit of a Japanese Kiridashi. Simple and practical. Thanks for including it. Hogue's X1 Microflip comes in at just over two and a half inches. It's robust, fidget friendly, more than capable for difficult tasks. It's never far from me. CJRB Ria is a small traditional looking knife. An incredible slicer with a proprietary steel, that once you figure out the "sweet spot" will fly open and also drops shut with ease. Mine has green micarta and is usually with me. If someone can't source, say the Chris Reeves Mnandi or a Moki (beautiful Japanese built knives), the CJRB Ria is a fantastic option. Thanks for not flaunting The James Brand, Benchmade, Case and Swiss Army Knives. It's like beating a dead horse with another dead horse. "Carry On!"
I do love that one, they recently came out with a larger version of the ki-v which is even nicer but it's not really mini like the first model. They're both great designs. Another really nice little model to check out that I found is the Vouking Knives T03GRN in m390. I don't know if that's just the model name on the site i was on but it's a really nice little flipper/titanium framelock that many "mini" Chinese clones are copying. Check it out it's awesome.
@@SweetTooth8989 I was looking at Stedemon Vouking knives a few years ago because one of their designs really caught my eye. There was word circulating that their M390 wasn't legit. Maybe Frankie and Bird of BirdshotIV said it? That may have been fixed by now, but I would ask around before you move on it. I'm going to have a look at the Ostap Hel you mentioned. Cheers!

CRKT Pilar is my current favorite small knife. I've got the D2 version with OD micarta handle scale. It feels really good in my hand and I don't feel like I'm giving up much in the way of function compared to larger knives that I own.
Was just about to comment the same thing. When I bought it it was a toss-up between the Lil Native and the Civivi Odium but I decided on the blacked out Lil Native. I also own a first and second gen Dragonfly, as well as one of the G10/VG10 versions shown in this video. Another one I'd have included is the Spyderco Ladybug (and/or Manbug). I don't own a Manbug but do own several Ladybugs including two H1 versions, one of which I gave my wife to EDC. Of the 100+ knives I own the Ladybug is by far my most used! My third and final suggestion is a cool but lesser known flipper called the Bastion Braza Bro EDC flipper. It's a touch bigger than a Ladybug and has a D2 blade and steel frame. I bought 2 of them on their Kickstarter a couple years back.
Yep. I have the lil native and the Nerd. Yeah the Nerd is awesome and I do carry it more often but if I want to do anything heavier then cutting up small boxes it’s the lil native every time.
@@socjocke I think he didn't include the lil native because he put the nerd on the list. I have one of the M4 jade g10 lil native. You'll have a much harder time doing any damage to that than the nerd imho. I'm more of a 3-4 inch blade knife guy but if I ever need a fifth pocket blade I carry that lil native and I can certainly understand those that want a smaller blade. But imho, I think out of this list, the techno 2 is the best all around.
I'd throw in the Protech Sprint as well as the Runt. I never bought any small knives until the last couple yrs and I'm glad I did. They def have their place in the edc world.

I think it's the easy portability obviously, but i think it's being able to have a knife that is small yet still functional and versatile for edc tasks and even heavier tasks.
The Kershaw chive is one of my favorites of all time. It’s cheap so I don’t mind beating on it, the 440 HC takes a good edge easily so I don’t mind the sharpening, and it’s small yet comfortable and efficient. The Gerber Dime is also a wonderful small knife, if you count a multitool.
I've never been a big fan of any of those older Ken Onion designed Kershaws. I like how slim they are but was never a fan of their blade shape, just a little too stabby looking for me or something. They've been around a long time though so apparently a lot of people do like them.
The Civivi Odium was used as my daily for over a year and half at a factory job (forklift driver) where we pretty much cut plastics to insert shipping papers or plastic wrappers on the product we worked with. It performed flawlessly and the reason it stopped being my daily there was because it either got stolen or lost. I may have left it on my lift one day, it might have gotten snagged off my pocket on a trailer I loaded, it might have gotten taken out my locker, who knows? But it was such a solid knife and for the price it was great. Highly suggest!
Not done with the video yet, but I’ll say this: I have carried the Spyderco Dragonfly 2 almost every single day single I got it a little over two years ago. As you perfectly stated at the opening of the video, tiny knives are all you need for urban, package-opening EDC. The only time in two years that I’ve actually needed a bigger, stronger knife is when doing something outdoorsy, and even then my ESEE Izula- which is almost identical blade and handle length- does just fine. In addition to the Dfly 2 and the Izula, I EDC a Case Barlow or a Victorinox Fieldmaster. The Fieldmaster has a large and a small blade, and I actually prefer the small blade for my package-opening EDC tasks. Not only is the shorter blade plenty, but non-locking knives like slip joints or double detents function just fine for most urban EDC tasks.
For small knives to be considered small it has to fit my fifth pocket. For me the best ones in my collection are the Kizer Flip Shank, Kizer Mini Sheepdog (without flipper) and the Boker mini Kalashnikov dessert warrior. I was considering the Kizer Contrail too.
I was sent a 3 pack of Fury mini folders. Very tiny & effective - 1 in the pocket, 1 in the bugout kit & 1 in the car. 2" blade & very shape as I have used it camping. I have used it camping & cut the usual supply of postal boxes / packages open with it. The bottle opener has come in handy at Beer O'Clock to open a few stubborn caps.
I luv me cinder, has copper scales and looks good. Great little box/string/utility cutter. Surprisingly good ergos. Perfect size for the fifth pocket and doubles as the perfect bottle opener ... In my case we'll used 😉🍺
I’ve been loving my GiantMouse Ace Riv (titanium blackout version) 👍 I also have a couple Odiums and totally agree with you, it’s an underrated knife, I think.
Nice list Taylor, I have some on the knifes in that list… love specially the Dragonfly, Dapper, and the Techno 2… I might add other that you didn’t mentioned : CRKT Pilar, Benchmade mini Griptilian, Fox Knives Livri, Kershaw Auto 4, We Mote. I own them all and are formidable for the size they have, and plus they all look awesome. My Vox Dapper is fine with no apparent QC issues… and I bought it after seeing it in one of your videos.
Not as well known in the us but I love my Boker Plus Gemma. Demarcus, light yet strong, action is great and you will absolutely forget it’s in your pocket
The Squid was one of my first practical/non-tactical EDC knives. It's a tough little chunk of steel! There's an aftermarket micarta scale available, that would bring down the weight and offer a bit more personality to it.
My best mini knife is Buck Vantage Avid small with Sandvik 13C26 steel. My best mini budget knife that I carry and use more than any other knife is Sanrenmu 6040 I lost one down the side of the couch for a while had to get another, now I got two. I always have a SAK classic on my kys and I got mini bugout clone in D2 with Aluminium scales; it's ok but that doesn't really count. Knives are quite expensive here in NZ, original BM bugouts are like $300 NZD
Being from the UK where what we can carry is a little more restricted I would be interested in seeing you do a rundown of your top slipjoint knives no bigger than 3inch blade. Also you thoughts on the best nail clipper solutions would be good to know...
The small EDC knives I own and like are -LT Wright Frontier first fixed blade , LT Wright Patriot fixed blade , Spyderco Manbug , Great Eastern cutlery Little Rattler slip joint .
The Gerber Mini Covert Auto is my go to small knife. I carry the full-size Covert Auto most of the time, but when I’m in shorts or technical pants, it’s the mini.
I have a dragonfly with ruby embedded silver scales. I received it as a gift. It’s gorgeous and functional. I pretty much carry small fixed blades now to use daily and carry my dragonfly when dressed up or walking about town.
I luv me cinder, has copper scales and looks good. Great little box/string/utility cutter. Surprisingly good ergos. Perfect size for the fifth pocket and doubles as the perfect bottle opener ... In my case we'll used 😉🍺
The Quiet Carry Eddy is worth considering as an addition to this list. It’s also not fidgety, but it has good materials, good design, and is well made.
I just got an Odium from Knafsale. Satin blade with gray scales. Love it. Unfortunately it looks like Civivi is discontinuing it. Maybe they’re doing an upgrade on it or something.
Schrade 18ot...also a version made by camillus for a time. Excellent for whittling, can actually carve. I was knife trained by an uncle, when you get a knife any knife you peel a bushel of apples by the end you should have one long string of peel per apple. No cheating by cutting too deep. Pay off excellent knife control and apple pies.
I love my tuff lites and the one mini tuff I was able to find. The clip is not an issue for me as I usually carry them in a pocket. They are my hard use utility blades. "What'd I miss?" Now do this for baby fixed blades.
I really enjoy your content. I bought the Vox Dapper in Green Micarta and really enjoy it. Where do you get the leather and brass bead? I was hoping to add one to my Dapper. ( I might get a Titanium later) Also what knife do you think fits in the size range between Dapper and PM2? I wanted a Drangonfly 2 but got a Dapper because of your video. I'm happy I bought it. Thank you.

Hell yeah to longer videos I love big "best of" series!! ESEE Churp is my all time favorite little knife $25 D2 with micarta handles, pocket clip is very different from normal but I love it. The Civivi Minimus and the Appalachian drifter II !
Hey Taylor! I just got the Blade HQ Lil’ Native m4 natural G10. It’s been my favorite and I haven’t carried my PM3 since. Try it out if you can find one.
Indeed. I recently started carrying a pocket knife and the guy in the store really tried to tell me an Opinel is a great starter knife in terms of price, easy maintenance and sharpness. But I wanted the Buck 112. Really should have listened to the guy. The buck is great but for the limited uses I have for a knife, I should have gotten the €15 ($17.50) Opinel instead of the €50 ($62) Buck
@@tonykennedy8592 They are great knives, full stop. I have a moderate collection of knives including some that are much more expensive than my Opinel No. 8, yet I still find myself going back to my Opi time and time again for an EDC option. They are great slicers, and super easy to maintain.
i have a WESN titanium microblade very nice and beautiful but every three or for days the blade starts rattling....so annoying for a 2 inch tiny knife with 100 dollars price....due to thightening the blade frequently main screw lost its shape and get damaged so bad.....
Great video!! Once apon a time I owned a gerber LST 200 (not made anymore) That knife lived on my keychain and NEVER got in the way and was used daily. I have not been able to find a knife that I loved as much as that knife or fit me. I have purchased about a dozen knives trying to replicate the feel and real estate and have failed. Yesterday, I lost an Ebay auction at $80 for one NEW OLD STOCK. Guess the little $20 dollar knife should have had a bid of $100. I mean. I will most likely never find another.
It has already been mentionned but CRKT Pilar I, or the Giant Mouse Riv are great ! Especially the Riv ! Few configuration available. As for the Urban EDC Supply Vox Copita, it's not only available in titanium and blue accent.
I still use a SOG flash 2 everyday. But my Bastion and Spyderco roadie are getting more use. I don't use my techno 1 too much though. I always have a large and small knife.
Love the video and I have a soft spot for tiny knives too! Love my Civivi McKenna! I feel like it is one of Civivi's best buy quickly got forgotten as soon as the elementum came out. It's super snappy, fidget gem, great ergos, disappears in pocket, and super slicey bc of great geometry
For as much love as you gave Jesper Voxnaes on the video, not including his best small design, the Fox Suru, is a warcrime. Also the small Inkosi tanto is shockingly small (much smaller than the small sebenza 21/31) and would make my own list. (That Mnandi is something I need to buy for a gentleman's carry, tho!). One last one would be the Pena Front Flipper Trapper.
Thanks for the reviews. Really liked the way the Blade HQ Vox Dapper looked so I purchased one right after watching. Hope the lockout is not too bad. Cheers
I wish there was a gucci'd out Ki-v. Marble CF scales and a premium steel blade with a more side clip. That would be awesome/comical and disarming in the office.
You can’t beat the victorinox classic sd for a tiny knife. I know it’s definitely not your style but I always have one with me as a secondary knife because you just can’t beat them
I'm surprised that the Kershaw chive 1600 a Ken Onion design, wasn't in your pick. I also like the shuffle by Kershaw, it's not the chive. Another Kershaw is the Ember, lower quality all around, but for the price it is a beast. I do like the ZT 0022 A great knife build quality is unmatched for sure could have went 3\4 of an inch longer. The protech runt 5 is to fat. I own it but carry the chive over it. I have carried a lot of the knives you covered and I have to agree with most everything you said, but as you said your opinion and your entitled to it it's definately what is responsible for the huge array of choices we have on the market. I have my opinion and I hope that you will be enticed to try the chive if you havn't. I really like your channel and it's been a factor in several knives I have bought and now enjoyed so thanks for the work you do. I for one really enjoy watching. My favorite all time edc small knife is the Kershaw's chive 1600 BLK which has been discontinued . I probably own 50 or 60 of them and 5 of the 1600BG a stunning knife. the biggest down fall is the clips seem a bit week but a sturdier clip might outweigh the knife its self . I will have to find a way to get a Copita. lol. LMK what you think.
I've always loved my SOG Bluto. They don't make them anymore for who knows why. Great ergos and vg-10 steel. Also just picked up the blade HQ exclusive poliwog that recently dropped. A little pricey but it always intrigued me, and I like it a lot. You either love or hate the shape, but imo it gives it BIG cutting power for it's size 🐸👍
Not sure if you skipped microtech on pupose but I love my utx-70 otf. even more than my Runt 5 which I really dig. Also a big fan of my little Kershaw launch and maybe my all-time favrite the Spyderco Cricket. Great vid!
My favorite small knife I own is my small plain Jane sebenza 31. Because of how slim it is, it makes it feel a lot smaller compared to my para 3 considering they’re about the same size. I do love the dragon fly, but I don’t ever carry it

I just got an Odium from Knafsale. Satin blade with gray scales. Love it. Unfortunately it looks like Civivi is discontinuing it. Maybe they’re doing an upgrade on it or something.

Hey Taylor! I just got the Blade HQ Lil’ Native m4 natural G10. It’s been my favorite and I haven’t carried my PM3 since. Try it out if you can find one.
Been looking for a good small (i.e., under 3") EDC knife; your video has the best content related to this subject I've found. Thanks for posting!
Been waiting on this vid forever...great to see my beloved dragonfly getting the love it deserves
I have really been crushing on small knives ... My Ti. Banter, Halftrack, Mini Monolock have been in my pocket the most.
Tiny knives don't have to cost a lot of money. Opinel No. 2 through No. 5 make a good back up for most days. Also they are so inexpensive.
Fully serrated Spyderco Ladybug RIPS! 🔥
Love the Mcbee,do you know of any short pocket clips for it ?….great job !
It has already been mentionned but CRKT Pilar I, or the Giant Mouse Riv are great ! Especially the Riv ! Few configuration available. As for the Urban EDC Supply Vox Copita, it's not only available in titanium and blue accent.
Which one least interferes with putting your hand in your pocket?
This is great because i can only carry a knife under 2.5 inches at work and I have a natural affinity towards low profile edc items.
I still use a SOG flash 2 everyday. But my Bastion and Spyderco roadie are getting more use. I don't use my techno 1 too much though. I always have a large and small knife.
Great vid! Btw what watch are you wearing in the vid?? Love it.
I have a WESN microblade and it's pretty awesome especially for the size
Top video thank you.
I like a lot of those. I also like the Olamic Busker and the Microtech UTX-70.
Love my Dragonfly 2 in ZDP-189
Zero Tolerance 0022 is my favorite.
Buck Budgie (s35vn blade) is fun as well.
Cheers
I love my spiderco dodo in m4. Incredible small knife!
The kizer gemini mini is a good one. Sold out for now, but they will be making more
For a small knife I think the Spyderco Dragonfly is hands down the most useful small knife out there.
Better than civivi baby banter?
@@Phuong_Nguyen_ Yep
@@coobay4786 I have the BB, it’s very nice but I wish it had a sharper tip. So I might return it for the dragon fly
I wish there was a gucci'd out Ki-v. Marble CF scales and a premium steel blade with a more side clip. That would be awesome/comical and disarming in the office.
Thanks Taylor! Good job!
You can’t beat the victorinox classic sd for a tiny knife. I know it’s definitely not your style but I always have one with me as a secondary knife because you just can’t beat them
Favorite small knife is the Spyderco Chaparral. It's the only knife that I bought twice.
Did lil bro really just complain about the $40 price point of the ki-v while the previous knife costed $400??? Lmaoooo
Kizer Mini Sheepdog with the blade hole. Just appeared in 2021. Not even on your table and it should be top 3. Keep up man :)
Great content as always. How do you like the Marathon?
Not sure if you skipped microtech on pupose but I love my utx-70 otf. even more than my Runt 5 which I really dig. Also a big fan of my little Kershaw launch and maybe my all-time favrite the Spyderco Cricket. Great vid!
The Civivi Lundquist Lumi is my fav small knife.
What do you think of the B-2 Bomber knife (mini Knife)??? as a small backup striker to a ferro rod
Bestech goblin is my #1 edc little knife
There is the Dragonfly, the Ceo, the Mini Banter and so more of them ... ^^
The Protech are also interreting. I think the automatics are the futur !!
Happy to be a new subscriber!
Thank you, Cory
I like my CRKT Lightfoot Urban Shark. Perfect for me. Has a little knick in the blade, though.
My favorite small knife I own is my small plain Jane sebenza 31. Because of how slim it is, it makes it feel a lot smaller compared to my para 3 considering they’re about the same size. I do love the dragon fly, but I don’t ever carry it
