    Very sensible advice. I'm 48 and have tried every diet under the sun. Once I made peace with food and my body & focused on nourishing myself- that nothing is really banned- that is when I lost weight. I grew up in the 80s/90s toxic diet culture & it really ruined my relationship with food for more than half of my life.

      Agree! You are so smart to use your mother's wisdom and your education to get across some very important nutritional advice. As someone who has struggled with finding a good way to eat and dealing with Type 2 diabetes, heart disease and high cholesterol I watch this and marvel at how easy your mom makes it look.

    I'm American and I'd say absolutely, the French are better educated about healthy eating. Entire industries in the U.S. have a vested interest in keeping Americans ignorant about healthy eating. We are sick as a nation. I don't mean to be a downer, but it's a bad situation.

      I'm intelligent and I'd say absolutely that there is a general difference between America and Europe in this area. Yes, stricter European laws keep the food safer and the tradition of markets and cooking at home is healthy.
      America allowed to be convinced that chemicals are the best nutrition, just like they allowed to be convinced that vacations and access to health care are a very bad thing, but a demented criminal at the center of power is a wonderful thing.
      This particular woman is Harvard style nutritionist (a vegetarian at best "with eat grains and grass" training) pretending to promote French nutrition just because the illiterate swoon about everything French.

      Its a 'culture', and by no means accidental but in fact, engineered.
      It's cheap, families in poverty, it's mass produced, it makes people sick.
      AND it's been 'done' to them.
      Perfect 😑

    It seems to me that most "naturally" thin people are people who learned about healthy eating pursuant to a healthy lifestyle early in life. A healthy lifestyle is a skillset. With that in mind, it's no wonder so many diets fail. People are trying to do a thing they never learned how to do properly.

  • @ruthg8799
    @ruthg8799 ปีที่แล้ว +14

    With intermittent fasting for me I just have a mental association with “feeding time at the zoo” 😂 and I just can’t shift that mindset…I think all days are fundamentally different in terms of our activity levels, our energy levels, our emotional state, our obligations to friends and family so to have a time bound window of eating is in theory time efficient but in actuality for many it is somewhat restrictive and does not account for responding to our unique/individual hunger cues.

    I love how your mom is willing to learn from you, and is also naturally an intuitive eater. Fun Fact at 11:19, carbs are essential for moving the amino acid tryptophan to your brain to help form melatonin and serotonin, both of which make you sleepy. If youre going to do low carb for one meal for any reason, it's best to not do so for dinner!

    A++ I Love Your Mom!! This was so fun. I wanted to ask about soil in France? The way farming is done in the US a doctor said most people are not getting the nutrients they did for example in the 70's. They put a lot of chemicals on the fields and that takes away from proper nutrients we all need. Which adds to weight gain. How do u feel about this? I'm thinking in France it's like it's always been.😊💖💖💖

    You lost me at “incorporate sugar”. You guys need to read Gretchen Rubin who talks about moderators vs. Abstainers. Your advice only works for moderators. Moderators feel deprived and will rebel if they can’t eat something. They will feel sick if they eat too much sugar. Abstainers find freedom in just not eating something as they have more control and can stop having convos with themselves about when to eat something. Also, they don’t have that feeling of being sick when eating too much of something. They’ll happily finish off the ice cream or chocolate instead of just nibbling at it.

    I enjoy your videos and listening to your mother as well. However, the dumping you do on "Americans" is annoying, as if 372 million people all eat the same and badly. You live in a country with only 20% of our populations, and much less the land mass. So, please do not stereotype us. I love the fresh produce in France, but I live in New England and we also have many, many farmers markets with fresh produce, and fresh product in our stores. Our particular farmers market has produce, baked goods, etc. from local farms and privately owned small bakeries. I can go out to eat at restaurants in town and get a lovely, unique vegan or vegetarian meal. That is very difficult in France from my experience, unless I just want to eat uninspiring vegetables. So, please stop lumping all Americans together as if we are all the same.
