The right way to do this is with a squirrel cage fan on a cart, aimed up where you can push the fan up (closer) to the drone. SCF will give a wider pocket of air, unlike the lead blower which is directional and can be aimed at one prop at a time.

Ken You're amazing. Mini and his voice is amazing. It packs punch despite lightweight. I own a mini. It's withstood quite a wind force in my region in Tamil Nadu.
I knew the Mavic 3 would do really well in this test, but I was somewhat surprised at how bad the Autel Lite did. I have the EVO 2 Pro and it does a good job in the wind. Great video, very entertaining. So entertaining I'm going to watch it again. Thanks for sharing Ken.

The evening before hurricane Harvey hit Houston a buddy and myself where down on Galveston island and the winds where already EXTREMELY powerful, palm trees bent, branches and trash flying through the roads and we flew a Phantom 4 Pro in that wind and rain, hundreds of feet up and filmed out into the ocean and basically watched as Poseidon himself was getting angry. Drone flew great, insane video we got and all the water never messed it up.

The mini 2 would have performed at lot better if it was in sport mode. As you can see at 8:30 (top left corner of screen N mode is normal mode) the mini 2 was being tested in normal mode, and can't resist as much wind since the motors are restricted to spinning at their full potential to counter act the wind.
All the quads stood up to the wind as well or better than I thought they would have. Ken was mad at the Mini2 and punched it out of the sky, but just like a Phoenix, it rose from the ashes and flew again, unscathed. Hurahhh

I would want to see a cheap drone the same size of the mini, like maybe a knock-off and see how each perform in high wind/leaf blowers. Just to see if DJI is what is whats making the mini do so well. Even though the answer is prety predicatable.

Great video. Next time could you do it with the original autel evo? I used to own one and my dumb azz sold it (regret) and wanna buy another one. The reason I want the original over the 2 is the geofencing. I don’t want anyone to be able to tell me where I can and can’t fly.

Yes, and it probably would be a little more balanced and not do as much 360's if it was real wind, not the very directional wind of the leaf blower.

I have a Mini 2 on the way qnd this gives me hope lol my friends got one and its awesome in normal winds.
Considering the relative amount of air, it did well. They all handled it better than I expected.

the nudge on mini 2 triggered the turn off propellers if you rotate the drone about 90 degrees sideways. its a feature i think.
