Story 5 - There's a bittersweet update to this whole story... Boss and Peg where eventually let go, as well as some other people. The hospital gave OP a settlement. Apparently the toxicity was stewing long before the entire debacle happened, and Peg was apparently trying to make it look like OP was the one ASKING for the food and then refusing to eat it. There where group emails started by Peg about OP's food and how he "just has no taste", because he refused Peg's food, and it seems more than just food was implied in those emails (lewd comments). OP had to file a restraining order against Peg, who continued to stalk OP after she was fired. OP passed away on August 21st, 2021, from esophageal cancer :( He married his husband a few weeks after the diagnosis. R.I.P. Ben. God rest your soul.
That's good because Peggy's Harrasment and stalking is not legal, same with the food theft etc.... And that boss was probs secretly banging Peggy. Etc...
Story 5 - The boss's handling of that is something that HR would be VERY interested in, I'm sure. It became harassment when Peggy wouldn't take "no" for an answer, and continued to try to bully the OP into accepting the food.
Seriously. Holy crap the boss could get fired easily for that. That is how companies end up in expensive lawsuits and HR needs to be notified immediately. Also OP should refuse to meet with the boss or the coworker without HR present from now on.
In Germany you easily would be supported by the appropriate union, bcs unions are part of our work culture...I feel pity for every single worker in the US of A-holes.
@@erikstolzenberger1517 y'know, retail work fucking sucks but I'm at least thankful that my workplace is part of a union, even if they feel like they could do more.
I would never, ever pay for a meal for someone, that tried to scam me like this. I would rather throw a scene knowing, that I'll never come back to his pricey restaurant.
I was going to say split the check still, but with their attitude, I'd have pointed out that it is THEIR meals that remain listed on the check, therefore it is THEIR bill to pay. And then left before they could.
If I were the parents from story 1, I would've done one of two things: 1. Pay for half, then inform waitstaff that they did not bring money to pay the bill. 2. Since my meal was already paid for, walk away with my free lunch and tell waitstaff that they did not bring money to pay the bill. I would NOT be paying for their expensive dinner in full. Eff that.
@@TheDarkCatYT I'm still trying to figure out how they showed up without any way to pay. My driver's license is in my wallet, so I always have my wallet. If I don't have cash, I have an ATM card and a couple of credit cards.
Story 5: what you do with that is say very loudly “I don’t feel comfortable being forcibly involved in your feeding fetish please stop trying to feed me for your sexual pleasure”
Or in Canada, just say "do you know about protective grounds? Did you know that asking me about my medical history is a violation of federal discrimination?" While you need to actually have a condition to back it up, like OP has, no boss actually dares to press the issue as they wouldn't be provided the answer, but HR will (and would have to keep it confidential)
I believe her theory is that since she cannot be asked to abandon her children for work, she is covered. But (not knowing the act), this would most likely only apply if an employer threatened to pick up a shift or get fired... regular shifts don't count.
FMLA has very strict rules that must be followed even if you have a legitimate chronic condition that causes you to miss work. You can’t simply say “FMLA” and use it as a get out of jail free card.
@@kaiseremotion854 I dunno what state this applies to, only what was said. However, if it is in an at-will state, it would make sense as it gives a stipulation against such firing. Again, my point was that IF she found a clause in the FMLA that mentioned kids, it would still not apply to scheduled hours.
@@Maninawig FMLA is federal. It is all states. The rules are the same. You can't just claim FMLA. You have to go to your HR and get paperwork and take that to your doctor. Your doctor has to fill out the paperwork.
"NO" is NOT a full sentence. The shortest sentence in the English language is "I am." "I" is the subject of the sentence and "am," being a non-action verb is the predicate telling what the subject is doing. So, now that you have a better understanding of the English language, I hope that you can comprehend that "NO" is NOT a complete sentence.
@@kbramlett6877 Definition of “sentence” ₁Merriam-Webster : “a word, clause, or phrase or a group of clauses or phrases forming a syntactic unit which expresses an assertion, a question, a command, a wish, an exclamation, or the performance of an action, that in writing usually begins with a capital letter and concludes with appropriate end punctuation, and that in speaking is distinguished by characteristic patterns of stress, pitch, and pauses.” ₂Cambridge Dictionary : “a group of words, usually containing a verb, that expresses a thought in the form of a statement, question, instruction, or exclamation and starts with a capital letter when written.” So by definition, yes, “No.” is a sentence if the context is sufficient. Also before you say anything, usually doesn’t mean always, and 1 does counted as a group. Citing the same source; Cambridge Dictionary : “a number of people or things that are put together or considered as a unit.” So, now that you have a better understanding of the English language, I hope that you can comprehend that “No.” IS a complete sentence.
Where is the subject and the predicate? So, what you are telling me is that I can write the word, let's say, "Door" and put some sort of punctuation after the letter "R" it would make it a complete sentence. Which would make complete sense to someone with an incomplete mind.
Story 5: Best to leave the Toxic Workplace behind, overstepping boundaries is not a nice thing to do and people need to learn that (I'm looking at you My Entitled Brother!)
Story 5 - If someone offers you food and they won't take "no" for an answer, just take the food from them and toss it in the garbage right in font of them. Do this every time until they get the message.
Story #5 really ticks me off. I've had food forced on me so many times in my life, and I was brought up in a culture where food is always pushed on people. I've given or thrown away half of what I've received, because I can't eat it all, or it's stuff that I really don't want to eat. And now, with food allergy issues, there are things I can't eat. People need to realize that this kind of action from Peg is not really about the OP's health, but about her showing herself being "a good, caring person". The OP already said no over 20 times, yet she keeps pushing, and making unwanted judgements. When OP escalated, Peg and people on her side, including the boss, attacked him. What, people can't say no to something and have that be respected?
The supervisor needs to be reported for retaliation immediately. This is NOT excepable behavior! Tell HR unless this is handled immediately you will speak legal counseling. You have a huge case.
RECORD ALL MEETINGS WITH HR AND MANAGEMENT, I can't stress this enough. It doesn't matter how much of a "friend" your boss or HR rep may seem today, you need to record ALL interactions you have with them because tomorrow they can turn on you just like that, I've seen it and even been a victim of it. I wish I'd have had a recording device on me 30+ years ago when some of the crap I saw/heard go down happened, I'd be fucking rich from the lawsuits I could have brought.
You have to be careful with that. It would only be legal if you are in a single party consent state. If not, that recording would not be able to be used as evidence and the one recording could be in legal trouble.
@@oldmanjim2376 Wonder if it would stick if you were open about it. You pull out a recorder set it down between you and clearly state, I am recording this conversation and will not talk to you unless you consent to it. That should cover it.
Yes! I keep a little black book for my job and even when I *don't* have problems with management, I use it to record my clock in and clock out times as well as my paid hours on my paycheck to keep an eye out for wage theft. Last time I called the union, they even recommended I include the names of any witnesses to my recorded events in case of further escalation. It's something I HIGHLY recommend everyone does. I got two of these little notebooks online for $6 total and they're small enough to fit even in a woman's tiny back pocket (speaking from experience).
@@oldmanjim2376 I would still record it, after all you may never need it but it's better to have it and keep it secret than not have it and end up playing "he said, she said" with no witness to back you up. I personally knew one guy who had to be taken back into employment because he had a meeting recorded, never got the details but I knew he got to come back and his old manager got fired.
There was an update; They did lawyer up, and Peg and the boss (and a few other collaborators) were let go and a settlement reached. Alas, the summer after this happened, OP passed away from cancer. :(
Story #5, it is time to go back to HR about what the Boss said and did (implying that OP was the one harassing Peggy and had told OP NOT to report it, etc. and that the retaliation is deserved), what the co-workers are all now saying and doing (the harassment and throwing out OP's lunch), and inform HR that OP will now be involving a lawyer in this situation. And then immediately go to a lawyer that is well versed in workplace harassment cases. Yes, OP will still most likely have to leave this job, but let's face it, it is so toxic now, that OP won't be able to stay anyway. So might as well go full on legal r/ProRevenge on them.
I really hope op does get a lawyer. I'm 5'5" and only about 105 lbs due to health problems and this kind of bullcrap would really mess up my mental health. As the story went on my jaw just dropped lower and lower. It's beyond inappropriate to comment on a person's weight EVER.
@@nyxspiritsong5557 Sadly the OP of story 5 passed away in -21 from throat cancer. :( Googling the username turns up a post from the bf-turned-husband about it.
I remember reading story 5 when it was first posted, and I remember the update that eventually came. The boss and Peg were both eventually fired and OP got a settlement for the harassment. However, OP died shortly afterwards from cancer. The update was from his husband
Story 5: A coworker giving out food to someone else repeatedly without being asked for it and not stopping after being asked to cease the behavior *IS* harassment. It looks like a "minor misunderstanding" but it is not. While one or two times can be regarded as "good intentions", 23 times in a month is not.
Story one: I would have told the waitress to split the check and I would pay for my and my spouse's meals and the other couple could pay for theirs. I don't like being scammed and won't tolerate it.
I'd have said something along the lines of, "That fine. Separate checks. We are ready to pay for our meals." That would still put the other couple and only the other couple on the hook for a $40 meal. And yeah, the waitress would have seen right through this other couple's BS. And if they didn't bring any money, then they weren't even planning to tip the waitress for their service. Scene be damn. I'd have paid for our meals without the coupon applied, tipped the waitress well, and wished though two a good evening. Because odds are they had cash. They were lying about it. They weren't about to risk arrest.
I would love to know what hospital allows people with medical issues to be harassed about their resulting body. My daughter has the same issue and the has been body shamed for medical conditions too often.
Bullying is incredibly common in the medical field. So much so that Nursing is considered the occupation most at risk for workplace bullying. Studies estimate that 44% to 85% of nurses have been victims of bullying by coworkers....and 93% have witnessed it.
Story 5, “so let me get this straight, I am being harassed, I’ve asked it to stop almost 30 times and you expect me to apologize? You have 30 seconds to rethink that before I walk out of here and call a lawyer”
OP never should have gone into either of those meetings without HR represented. What his boss did was illegal, as was shown by what someone else posted as having come from an update they'd read.
The story of the very small man: coworkers don't know his health conditions so trying to force him to eat what she provided was very inappropriate. It was none of her business. The rest of the staff especially HR and her direct boss were very much out of line and deserve to be sued for discrimination.
For anyone wondering, there was an update to the Peg story from the husband (OP and his boyfriend got married). The boss, Peg, and some others who collaborated with them were fired for the shit they put OP through. It got so big, the owner of the hospital couldn't ignore it. However, they still needed a restraining order against her. There is still some sad news: OP died of cancer in August 2021, hence why the update came from the husband. (The owner did help pay for some bills).
Wow, Story 5 is a lawsuit waiting to happen! OP refused politely multiple times and tried to involve his manager for a peaceful resolution but got nowhere with it, so he involved HR (that's what they are there for after all). And NOW his manager has an opinion on it and is retaliating against a victim of workplace bullying. Tell this story to a lawyer and they will start salivating half way through!
UPDATE STORY 5 : OP passed away due throath cancer. The boss and Peggy where let go due obvious reasons. OP had to file a restraining order because Peggy, even after her firing, kept stalking OP.
I would have asked the neighbours in the first story for the difference in price. The parents would’ve had the same price, and the neighbours could’ve had a meal for 10$ each. That seems fair to me, since the coupons were theirs. But letting the other couple pay 10$ more for food they didnt eat is not fair
NO! Dad should have said I'm paying $60 for mom & me. Those guys are going to have to do $40 worth of dishes! Then leave! Since Neighbor Lady Tricked them On Purpose. She knew what mom assumed, because that's the way she worded it!
Honestly, the father should have never paid for their meals. All that does is enable them. And the restaurant failed to do right by the parents…which makes the story even more annoying for me.
FMLA stands for Family Medical Leave Act. Emphasize the second word, MEDICAL. Daycare is not a medical situation. Being a mom myself I’ve had a handful of times where my kid gets sick or I have to come late to work due to my kid. I call ahead of time and explain the situation. I also find someone to cover for me and I’ll work the rest of that person’s shift.
story 5: they are open to a massive lawsuit and HR should inform the boss and make notes so if they were to be fired they can easily prove it was in retaliation. and OP should look into suing the company
It’s been over a day since the video was uploaded, so I’ll give you a pass since I can’t see exactly when you made your comment, but please…read the comments. Multiple people have already come back with updates from the story, and let’s just say…it didn’t have a happy ending.
An update revealed the OP had died from cancer. The boss was suspended then fired, Peg and any associates of hers perpetuating the harassment were also fired. The husband of OP had to put out a restraining order on Peg after she was fired because she began stalking the OP and harassing him.
If he was an obese person, and people were leaving him diet beverages and foods, supplements, and other things...they would be fired. It's a weird double standard.
in my country it is not directly considered as meat, "meat" is only used for animals living at the land....shrimps are "seafood", so I can understand the confusion if maybe there are different cultures interacting with each other....besides the hissy fit about it is strange anyways
@@insideAdirtyMind well... You can say shrimp is not considered as meat in your religion/tradition, but stil it is meat. And like OP said: meat is part of a once living thing's flesh(es). That is a rough definition about meat, but true. Also about the woman... I think she is not a religious person, rather a kinda lunatic person who do/did diet out of fashion. Sometimes these kind of people sounds more extreme than what the story tells.
Shrimp have eyes, legs, feet, a tail. They propel themsrlves around w/ their appendages, & eat other items. Also, they are classified under Kingdom Animalia, not Plantae. They are animals. So are fish, for those who think otherwise, despite their upbringing.
Story 5: To deter anyone continually pressing food on you, I'd suggest: "Oh, thank you, I'll give it to the homeless person on the corner" - and I'd *do* it, too, very publicly.
For Story 4, I often remind people that they didn't put up their placard when I see people without permanent license plates in the disabled spots. A couple times they've thanked me and gotten their tags out. Others tend to give me attitude. They get reported. Often they are gone by the time the police show up, but every once in a while it works out.
@@kelleyk28 That is an issue. Lots of disabled people can look fine for a short while. Which is why I focus on if they have a tag or license plate. If they do, I'm just going to move on.
Police don't have to be on the spot to give Karma. They can look up the address from the plate and then send a "nice little letter" about it and problem solved..
I had a bit of a similar incident. When I was in my late 20's, I had a cool setup where I got a "free" apartment (landlord had gotten sick or something and quit collecting rents... go figure) and I drove cab and had a roomie take care of utilities. So most of my income was disposable. I had a strong crush on a starving student and took him out to his favorite chinese restaurant on many occasions with me picking up the tab! Also drinks at the club, etc etc. You get the idea. Fifteen years later, we find each other online in Las Vegas where both of us were now working. He said we should go out to dinner and so we go to Black Angus (my favorite!). He proceeds to go on and on about his successful career and his now 6 figure salary. Bill comes and he says "So how much is mine...." You could have pushed me over with a feather! I thought "Shees, I must have spent HUNDREDS and HUNDREDS on this creep and he can't pick up the check? Especially since he was now making many times MORE than I was???? I never talked to him again......
Story 2 she overslept and then said she couldn’t find daycare? Wouldn’t she have had daycare lined up if she was scheduled to work that day? Ahh...perhaps she burned her daycare too many times also. These Karens need to get their lies sorted before they start telling the lies. 🤦♀️
Very likely the day care has a cut off where kids can be dropped off. Since she slept in 2 hours late they probably wouldn’t take them. Still that’s not FMLA
Story 5: What would happen if the OP was overweight & she kept offering him low fat or diet foods. Telling him he needed to eat less. Would that have been considered harassment?
Yes. Body shaming is body shaming no matter if you are overweight or underweight. A lot of people try to body shame me for being overweight and give me grief about exercise and diet. I have several medical issues that I like to keep quiet. Medical problems should stay between the person and their doctor.
That is exactly what I was thinking. They were too nice. I would have told the server to split the checks and just taken care of my bill and let them figure out the situation.
Story 1: OPs parent's should have just walked out when the waitress came back with the adjusted bill. THEIR meals were already covered by the coupon, by being the lesser valued meals. Plus it's general conduct that when invited out for a meal, the one who made the invitation is the one to pay unless another agreement (split pay, separate bills, etc.) is established beforehand. The entitled witch should have had to face the consequences of trying to scam them for free food.
@@condorboss3339 Agreed, given that she has tried this Stunt/Scam 5 times already, I guess it's true that you can't teach an old Dog new tricks, this story also reminds me of a Prorevenge story where Karen was too lazy to go to work and was eventually forced to resign, she claimed that her resignation was due to a "Toxic Work Enviroment", the School which Karen had worked at told everyone Karen's exact words stated in her resignation, mainly the part where she claimed to have mental Health issues, Karen later tried to sue and OP made it look like Karen won, but this lead to a Domino effect that ruined her life permenantly
In the first story if I was OPs parents I wouldn't have accepted the invitation to dinner at all. They should have known something was up when the old neighbors contacted them out of the blue. They should have followed their instincts well at least they never have to deal with them again. Some people are just pure assholes. Anyway love your videos Peace and love to you and your family 💙💚💙
It’s weird what the neighbor did. Like why would you bother people you haven’t seen in years out of the blue to go to an expensive restaurant with you that they most likely wouldn’t afford? Especially after you tell them you would pay for the food? Like wtf🤨
Story 5: I really hope OP has done a very good job documenting all that bullshit and uses a really good lawyer to file a giant lawsuit against their employer.
If the woman who was screaming about can't fire me because she has kids should just shut up. She was on the schedule to work so she must have had child care arranged. If not she was lying about the sleeping in, which is another reason to fire her.
Story 3: Would you enter someone's backyard, build a play set there, and then declare it your property? Nope. It would be their property and you could be charged for trespassing. Same logic applies here. The trail basically became OP's Grandpa's property and the neighbors can't do anything legally about it,
I deal with poachers nearly every single year. Same story "I've been hunting this land for years! I have permission from the owner!" Yeah, I've owned it since 1995. Then remind them that the Castle Law covers my entire property. Trespassers are met with an armed response.
@@carljacobs1837 They're lucky you don't shoot em on sight. After all, they entered your property with a loaded weapon. That definitely goes beyond the bounds of trespassing.
If I was the OP in this story, I’d put up trail camera. As long as the line and “No Trespassing” sign is entirely on OP’s property, they have to trespass to take it down.
There’s a real easy solution for the lady pushing the food. All OP had to do was to take the food the lady gives him and then, while she’s watching say thank you and turn right around and put it in the garbage can in front of her. If the lady says anything, all OP has to do is say I told you I didn’t want it you didn’t listen. Lol
Story 2: FMLA has to be applied for and agreed to. It isn't automatic whenever you don't feel like going in and can't find a sitter. I know this quite well because I had to use FMLA at one job because I had angina while on the job and had to get treated for it. Oh, and using FMLA, while it protects your job, does NOT guarantee that your boss will like you for it. My boss held that FMLA against me as long as she stayed at that location. Story 5: OP needs to be talking to a LAWYER, not HR at this point. The boss has really screwed the pooch on this one. OP was _working with a physician_ on their weight issues. OP didn't need some maternal busybody inserting themself into their business. OP tried to make this clear, and did so at least 26 times, every time Peg brought some snack or meal. There IS such a thing as being on doctor's orders, and trying to get someone who is working with their physician to mitigate allergies and other problems to put weight on SAFELY and HEALTHFULLY to just indiscriminately stuff themselves with whatever crap she wants to foist on them is harassment of the first order. The only thing I'd go to HR about at that point would be to point out that the boss didn't seem to think HR's policies should affect him, and that it wasn't OP's choice to make a big deal out of things, it was HR's. OP just wanted to document the interaction. But HR RIGHTLY saw it as a the actionable issue it was. OP could, and SHOULD, sue over this. And sue for a seven-digit amount if the issue leads to a termination, which the Boss probably will try. Gotta wonder if Peg isn't giving the Boss a little sumpthin'-sumpthin' for HIS delectation, knowwhatImean? ARRGH, I positively HATE cliquish office politics! I worked for a company that claimed to have a "flat management system", where everyone was equal, but was actually about as equal as Orwell's "Animal Farm". Everything there was ruled by cliques, clout, and influence. If you were in the cool clique, you got the best of the billable projects. If you weren't, you got the leavings. If by chance you drew the negative attention of the cool clique, pack your desk and start your job search, your days were numbered, and there wasn't a manager you could go to. If they chose to, they could cobble up whatever excuse they wanted and put you on "probation", and even put the person harassing you _in charge of your probation._ This is just an RCH away from that.
For story one: I cannot stand when people use FMLA like it's a get out of jail card. I had to deal with tons of red tape to get FMLA benefits for my diabetes and bi-polar disorder/anxiety. You can't just claim it, you have to have the paper word and medical notes all filled out by doctors and/or therapist. In the case where you have a sick kid, you still needs a doctor's note, you can't just claim it, there has to be a paper trail. I don't think people know how much government red tape there is to get FMLA benefits. Story five: People try to force me to eat foods I cannot eat all the time. I'm diabetic and I've had gastric bypass so I follow a KETO diet for health reasons, it's very low carb. People shouldn't take it personally when people declines their food, some people are on medically directed diets like myself. Some people are on specials diets for ethical reasons like vegans. So with so many diets around, people shouldn't be shocked when someone refuses to eat their food.
the last history: if i was OP i would have said to her when she said the shrimp wasn't meat, "So, you're saying to me that shrimp is a plant now, not meat?
I am VERY grateful to the Subway worker. I had to take my wife to a doctor today and had to park my van a fair distance from the building because all the handicapped spaces were full and I needed enough space to get my wheelchair out and load it back in when we were done. A year or so ago, this wouldn't have been a problem but I've since done serious damage to my shoulder so pushing my chair that distance was very hard on me and screwed up my shoulder again, making my comments here a pain to type. That said, folks need to know where they park does have repercussions.
What that boss did has a name: GASLIGHTING. That pisses me off even more than everything Peg said and did. And she has the nerve to talk about OP "sabotaging a happy workplace"... f-ing hypocrite. Yeah, that workplace is toxic and OP needs to leave ASAP.
for the entitled dad and crotch spawn trail blazers, I would have sent them a registered letter saying that the property line is marked and is being monitored and any further trespassing would result in charges being laid. Then you setup a rope and sign a few feet inside the property line with a trail camera watching the area. Then wait for them to go rip the rope and sign down and when they do you call the cops and have them charged. This sends the message that you will not let them do as they please.
story 1: I would have called the waitress back and told her I'd pay for our two meals and the other couple can keep their coupons and figure out their own way to pay.
the correct resolution to story #5 would have been for them to accept the food and get all gushy in accepting it, and then right in front of her face, throw it away in the garbage. oh and walk away.
Cool thing about living so far away with private land: you most likely have the right to shoot trespassers if you give them warnings and they still come back after receiving said warnings. 😊
#1 - I would inform the waitress that I would pay for my and my wife's meals, and the coupons were NOT part of our transaction, please bill my neighbors as you see fit.
The update on story 5 is really sad, it was made by OPs husband. OP was diagnosed with esophageal cancer, not long after they married. Unfortunately OP only had 3 months after diagnosis. :( However, husband informed that Peg and Boss were both let go, along with other collaborators. Investigation revealed Boss reacted poorly to OPs HR complaint, began to remove OP from work emails, project updates, wouldn't respond to attempted communication, taking his submitted work & presenting it as someone else's. Much of this was documented by the automated message system. As for Pegs reaction to complaint, sendt out mass texts to others about hypothetical situation about ungrateful friend forcing her to cook but not eating it, group emails spanning months before complaint/investigation, discussing his food saying he has no taste because wouldn't take what she offered (husband said the phrasing was lewd and implied more than just food). Husband also filed restraining order on Peg as she stalked and tried to contact them after her firing. OP was eventually given settlement and new boss was actually quite nice, accommodating of his medical leave when time came and promised him he'd have his job upon his return. Mostly terrible situation all around, I'm so sorry for Husband and for OP for having to suffer so much with so little left.
So sad to hear that OP in story number 5 passed away from esophageal cancer. He told PEG many times he was not obligated to tell her anything about his health! He was most likely only able to eat certain foods and couldn’t eat what Peg was offering. PEG and the Boss where eventually fired when HR found out how OP was treated afterwards. I hope all the employees who harassed him and threw out the only food he was probably able to eat are now ashamed of their actions RIP BEN . PEG I hope you have seen this post and regret your actions!!!
Peg: Is your boyfriend happythat you're starving yourself? Me if I were OP: Will your husband be ok if your baby doesn't look like him? Peg needs to be knocked down a few pegs. Saying what she's doing is a "kind gesture" is like someone making a very hurtful remark and saying "it's just a joke" despite no one laughing. I hope OP finds a better job without such hostility, and then sue the bricks off that company for blatant disregard for his well-being. If he ate anything Peg made and got very sick or hospitalized, OP would be 1000% right to sue Peg for pressuring him to eat it and the company for encouraging it. God forbid OP eats something and dies, then the company and Peg would be in the chopping block for wrongful death or something like it. I loathe people like her. She would probably pressure a skinny diabetic to eat a double chocolate cake she made just for them... Freakin twat muffin that woman.
Last story: In the city I'm in, most restaurants say "protein" these days instead of meat. So things like tofu and plant-based meat substitutes are covered under the same price, but they're still additions. You have the basic price, and the price to add extra ingredients. Whether you call it a meat or not is irrelevant, you're adding an extra ingredient.
My friend has a family restaurant and a Karen once tried this. My friend's Dad took one look at her and said "That's a Savile Row suit which costs a thousand and fifty pounds, there's NO way you don't have money but if you insist on trying that yarn, you get the Pauper Treatment. Now, what's your choice;dishes or the Police?" She paid up and left.
When I was in the Army we had a guy who regularly would invite folks out to eat, claim he forgot his wallet or didn’t have money, and expect someone to buy for him. Well it came my turn for this and luckily for him we were only going to McDonald’s. Well after I ordered my meal he tried jumping in and ordering his on my ticket but I stopped him and made sure to pay only for the stuff I ordered. After I got my food he just stared as I chomped into my two Big Macs, he didn’t starve though as someone else from the group eventually paid for him. As far as that couple, with the audacity of them saying “we should do this again”, I probably would’ve referred to them as “C words” after walking off and forget they existed!
For the first story I personally would have just said "look I'm going to pay my half of the check, but I won't be paying yours, you should have brought your own money, and you'll need to figure out how you're going to pay for your half, bye!". No way would I be paying the whole $95 for the food & tip for the server. Entitled people like that need to be forced to take responsibility, it they aren't they just continue getting away with it
Story 5: Peg is veering dangerously close to criminal harassment. And the manager is enabling it. OP is right to be updating his resume. In that situation, my first, last, and only warning to Peg before going to HR would go something like this: "Not that my medical conditions, diet, or appearance are any of your business, but I am following a carefully constructed plan under the qualified supervision of my dietician and my family doctor. I do not feel that it is appropriate for me to discuss my private medical records with a coworker, regardless of how well meaning your actions are. Some of your comments have made me uncomfortable and others have been mildly insulting. Thank you for your thoughtful gestures and offerings, but I'd rather stick to the slow and steady gains of the professionally constructed plan I've been working hard to follow. So please stop offering me food, I'm not about to pass out at work. And I'd hate to feel forced to make this a bigger issue than it needs to be."
UPDATE STORY 5 : OP passed away due throath cancer. The boss and Peggy where let go due obvious reasons. OP had to file a restraining order because Peggy, even after her firing, kept stalking OP.
Story 1: I'd make sure it was perfectly clear as corroborated by the waitress that we had the cheaper meals, which were free by the coupons. We did not order the pricier food and we did not eat the pricier food. Not our problem, here's a nice cash tip for the waitress's trouble, have a good night. But then I don't mind causing a scene when I'm getting ripped off.
I watch these videos and listen to 'em when I need to settle for the night. Great way to wind down with a coke and a warm blanket, and drift off to sleep. Thank you so much, Fluff! I'll try to get some stories out to you, I've got a couple from my work!~
Story 6: To be fair, where I am from fish is not considered meat. (Outside of the law, you know, cooling chains and so on...) Since shrimp is a sea creature, I would consider it a fish rather than meat (before googleing it, if this is actually the case). Her surprise was somewhat understandable for me, her reacton was not, tho.
My cousin from out of town was visiting a friend. The 2 decided to go to an expensive restaurant nearby. My cousin called and invited me to go with them. When the checks came, the friend paid for herself and my cousin, and my cousin blithely looked anywhere but at me. So I had to pay my bill for the lunch I'd been invited to.
Story 1: That man was nicer than I would have been. I'd have called the waiter and explained the whole situation to him. Then I'd have said, "I'll pay for you for my meal and my wife's, but I'm not responsible for these two deadbeats. If I were you, I'd call the police on them." Story 2: In what universe is oversleeping a legitimate excuse for being late to work? Story 4: Not long ago, I pulled into a Chick-fil-A parking lot. I saw an open parking space, but the sun was shining at just the right angle where I couldn't see it well. However, I did see it well enough to park in it. When I got out, I saw some distinctive marks on the pavement, and I suddenly realized I had parked in a handicap space. What did I do? I quickly got back into my car and moved it to a different space, of course. See how simple that is?
Story 5: Fluff says "...definitely sounds like it's time to leave that toxic workplace..." AND POISON YOUR FORMER COWORKERS! Fluff, you can't just give half of the needed advice. OP needs to make everyone who opposed them as unhealthy as they are in order to foster future empathy.
If I were the dad in Story 3, I would've dug six holes 8 feet down, set down 12'00" long 3" diameter tool steel pipes, filled them with quick-set concrete, welded a _No Trespassing_ sign onto a 3/4" thick tool steel plate, welded together a barricade with the bars spaced 2" apart, and welded the sign to the barricade. I'd then repeat this entire process for every new trail the kid made. Every last pipe would be filled with concrete.
I used to work at a Subway that was in a shopping complex. I cannot tell you the number of times some entitled butthead would park directly at the curb in front of the store, clearly painted red with the words "FIRE LANE NO PARKING" stenciled all across the front of the building! I refused service to dozens of people that did that
Exactly it's ridiculous when trespassers threaten to call the police on you. I always tell them to go ahead, it saves me time. Then I have them arrested for trespassing.
1st Story: From the description, it sounds like they made it sound like they were treating his parents to dinner. So they pulled a real @sshole move! I would have smiled and wish them fun chasing bubbles at the deep sink! (of the kitchen)!
My wife would get flustered and pay. If it was a real friend, I'd be like "wth dude?" and probably pay. If it was a neighbor I barely knew I'd be like "sucks to be you" and leave them hanging.
Story 5, oh momma! Give me all that food lol. Coming back to the OP, his No should have been respected and that itself would have resolved the matter. If it were me though, Peggy can spoil me crazy lol 🤣
that first one, so damn entitled, the fact that they contacted OP's parents and claimed "don't worry we have these coupons where we get 2 meals free if we order 2 meals" when OP's parents were worried about costs. either they are complete scam artists or they are genuinely clueless and will probably end up accidentally robbing a bank in the future.
If that boss had said that bullshit to me in a hospital setting I'd of brought down the legal hand of god in the form of hostile workplace harassment, like oh HELL NO you don't cross those lines!
For the fifth story I'm thankful that while a couple of my coworkers are nosy and pull the I'm just an older woman (with a large family so I mother a lot) to ask question and pry into how I'm going just because I'm more tired one day then I was the other day, that I've not been pestered to that extent. He's totally not an asshole, and there was the option to tell her it was medical before he blew up but frankly that's none of her business to begin with. Unless she was seeing behavior that was actively harmful to himself she should have just taken his no and left it, or brought her concerns up with management/hr, for them to address in a proper way. And given her comments about his appearance she didn't actually care about him she just wanted to feel good about herself for 'helping' a coworker.
UPDATE STORY 5 : OP passed away due throath cancer. The boss and Peggy where let go due obvious reasons. OP had to file a restraining order because Peggy, even after her firing, kept stalking OP.
I tell you, some people just are dumb. I normally mind my own business but when I heard a customer who is in front of me saying is vegan and said that want shrimp in its meal. I just couldn't take it and said "Miss. Do you know shrimp is a kind of meat?" And she turned white as a blanket
Story 4: As someone who have a disabled parking permit in my country. I really like this employee for not serving the customer. The "I am just going to...." excuse is just so common.
I would have paid $40.00 at the cash register, getting my receipt as proof of payment. Then given the person who served me an appropriate amount in a cash tip....purposefully pointing out that it was THEIR tip (not to be put towards the other couples bill). After that, I would thank the other couple for inviting us out for dinner (loud enough for everyone to hear), then walk out.
DarkFluff: you mentioned that no trespassing signs never stopped people from trespassing. It does, a little, but what it really does, its main job as a warning sign, is it acts as a witness against trespassers when they're caught. When caught trespassing, they can't proclaim innocence or ignorance because there was a sign posted. Otherwise officers often have to let them go with a warning because it could have been a mistake or misunderstanding. With a sign there is no doubt it was deliberate and they can be immediately ticketed and fined without additional warning.
OP passed away on August 21st, 2021, from esophageal cancer :(
He married his husband a few weeks after the diagnosis.
R.I.P. Ben. God rest your soul.

Also the boss is harassing OP as well.
Not to mention if the boss lined himself with Peggy. What else is that boss doing? Sexual harassment? Favoritism?
And the boss reaction was totally hostile work environment
this story is heartbreaking...so many people tend to take the side of harassers
There's an update on the account, apparently when OP took it further they all were essentially "let go".
Story 5 needs to lawyer up and report the retaliation to HR. This is going to get very nasty, very quickly.
Seriously. Holy crap the boss could get fired easily for that. That is how companies end up in expensive lawsuits and HR needs to be notified immediately. Also OP should refuse to meet with the boss or the coworker without HR present from now on.

I'd pay for mine and my SO's meal, and leave. To the Hot Place with those entitled neighbors. 😡
Flag the waiter, ask for a new, split check, then pay for my side and leave. Let THEM make the scene.
I was going to say split the check still, but with their attitude, I'd have pointed out that it is THEIR meals that remain listed on the check, therefore it is THEIR bill to pay. And then left before they could.

Or in Canada, just say "do you know about protective grounds? Did you know that asking me about my medical history is a violation of federal discrimination?"

What did Karen not understand about the Family MEDICAL Leave Act? Oversleeping or failure to find child care is NOT medical.

@@Maninawig psure employers can't do that kids or not

@@kaiseremotion854 I dunno what state this applies to, only what was said. However, if it is in an at-will state, it would make sense as it gives a stipulation against such firing.

@@Maninawig FMLA is federal. It is all states. The rules are the same. You can't just claim FMLA. You have to go to your HR and get paperwork and take that to your doctor. Your doctor has to fill out the paperwork.
Story 5: it's basically 'Body Shaming' and harassment. 'No' is a full sentence.
@@kbramlett6877 calm down and also... go
@@summerhall5163 It's totally "Go." (also fuck that boss and Peg)
@@kbramlett6877 Definition of “sentence”
₁Merriam-Webster :
“a word, clause, or phrase or a group of clauses or phrases forming a syntactic unit which expresses an assertion, a question, a command, a wish, an exclamation, or the performance of an action, that in writing usually begins with a capital letter and concludes with appropriate end punctuation, and that in speaking is distinguished by characteristic patterns of stress, pitch, and pauses.”
₂Cambridge Dictionary :
“a group of words, usually containing a verb, that expresses a thought in the form of a statement, question, instruction, or exclamation and starts with a capital letter when written.”
So by definition, yes, “No.” is a sentence if the context is sufficient.
Also before you say anything, usually doesn’t mean always, and 1 does counted as a group.
Citing the same source; Cambridge Dictionary :
“a number of people or things that are put together or considered as a unit.”
So, now that you have a better understanding of the English language, I hope that you can comprehend that “No.” IS a complete sentence.
Where is the subject and the predicate? So, what you are telling me is that I can write the word, let's say, "Door" and put some sort of punctuation after the letter "R" it would make it a complete sentence. Which would make complete sense to someone with an incomplete mind.

The story of the very small man: coworkers don't know his health conditions so trying to force him to eat what she provided was very inappropriate. It was none of her business. The rest of the staff especially HR and her direct boss were very much out of line and deserve to be sued for discrimination.

Story 2: I guess Karen thought that FMLA means "I can keep my job and just be lazy all day"
I would bet she tried the same with her next employer, too.
@@condorboss3339 Agreed, given that she has tried this Stunt/Scam 5 times already, I guess it's true that you can't teach an old Dog new tricks,
this story also reminds me of a Prorevenge story where Karen was too lazy to go to work and was eventually forced to resign, she claimed that her resignation was due to a "Toxic Work Enviroment", the School which Karen had worked at told everyone Karen's exact words stated in her resignation, mainly the part where she claimed to have mental Health issues,
Karen later tried to sue and OP made it look like Karen won, but this lead to a Domino effect that ruined her life permenantly
That's the way I would have been too.
It’s weird what the neighbor did. Like why would you bother people you haven’t seen in years out of the blue to go to an expensive restaurant with you that they most likely wouldn’t afford? Especially after you tell them you would pay for the food? Like wtf🤨
I’m going through really tough time in my life and dark fluff’s voice always calm me down.❤️
Story 5: I really hope OP has done a very good job documenting all that bullshit and uses a really good lawyer to file a giant lawsuit against their employer.
Sadly the OP of story 5 passed away in -21 from throat cancer. :( Googling the username turns up a post from the bf-turned-husband about it.
@@carljacobs1837 why do I feel that shooting the trespassing poachers would be justifiable?
@@carljacobs1837 They're lucky you don't shoot em on sight. After all, they entered your property with a loaded weapon. That definitely goes beyond the bounds of trespassing.
The son made a trail on their land, zo he was not only trespassing, he damaged the property. I would hold hij accountable tot IT.
So with so many diets around, people shouldn't be shocked when someone refuses to eat their food.
the last history: if i was OP i would have said to her when she said the shrimp wasn't meat, "So, you're saying to me that shrimp is a plant now, not meat?
nah, shrimp must be a fungus.
Sadly, OP passed away from cancer
@@nancyomalley6286 That's sad to hear... and it makes me hate those people even more.
Hi Fluff and Stevo, thanks for all your stories!😉❤️
for the entitled dad and crotch spawn trail blazers, I would have sent them a registered letter saying that the property line is marked and is being monitored and any further trespassing would result in charges being laid. Then you setup a rope and sign a few feet inside the property line with a trail camera watching the area. Then wait for them to go rip the rope and sign down and when they do you call the cops and have them charged. This sends the message that you will not let them do as they please.
YAY!!! Another Darkfluff Gem!
story 1: I would have called the waitress back and told her I'd pay for our two meals and the other couple can keep their coupons and figure out their own way to pay.
the correct resolution to story #5 would have been for them to accept the food and get all gushy in accepting it, and then right in front of her face, throw it away in the garbage. oh and walk away.
Cool thing about living so far away with private land: you most likely have the right to shoot trespassers if you give them warnings and they still come back after receiving said warnings. 😊
Even if you have a free meal coupon, you still have to tip anyway!
The 5th story piss me off, peg is a insensitive jerk and the boss needs to be fired
There was actually a final update. Peg and Boss got fired, along with some others...
@@chanku18 good!
sadly OP passed away from throat cancer :(
#1 - I would inform the waitress that I would pay for my and my wife's meals, and the coupons were NOT part of our transaction, please bill my neighbors as you see fit.
Story 1: I'd have told the waitress: We don't use coupons, please give us seperate bills.
Love the 'shrimp wiggle' hand gesture in the last story!
HIS RESPONCE SHOULD HAVE BEEN."THE TWO LESS EXPENSIVE MEALS ARE FREE. THOSE WE ATE. YOURS ARE NOT FREE. YOU INVITED US. IN A POLITE SOCIATY YOU PAY"
The update on story 5 is really sad, it was made by OPs husband. OP was diagnosed with esophageal cancer, not long after they married. Unfortunately OP only had 3 months after diagnosis. :(
However, husband informed that Peg and Boss were both let go, along with other collaborators.
That boss probs was banging Peggy.
Sadly OP passed away
Now, what's your choice;dishes or the Police?"
She paid up and left.
A complaint with the EEOC needs to be filed and hire a lawyer to sue the company.
This seems to be a thing, if you can't afford to maybe having to pay for your own meal don't go.😅😊
Story 1: That man was nicer than I would have been. I'd have called the waiter and explained the whole situation to him. Then I'd have said, "I'll pay for you for my meal and my wife's, but I'm not responsible for these two deadbeats. If I were you, I'd call the police on them."
Story 2: In what universe is oversleeping a legitimate excuse for being late to work?
Story 4: Not long ago, I pulled into a Chick-fil-A parking lot. I saw an open parking space, but the sun was shining at just the right angle where I couldn't see it well. However, I did see it well enough to park in it. When I got out, I saw some distinctive marks on the pavement, and I suddenly realized I had parked in a handicap space. What did I do? I quickly got back into my car and moved it to a different space, of course. See how simple that is?
Loved that logic worked out in-the end
Story 5: Fluff says "...definitely sounds like it's time to leave that toxic workplace..." AND POISON YOUR FORMER COWORKERS! Fluff, you can't just give half of the needed advice. OP needs to make everyone who opposed them as unhealthy as they are in order to foster future empathy.
OP died due throath cancer in 2021.
sadly OP passed away :(
Me: How do you steal someone’s land?
My dad: with an excavator and a dump truck!
First story should have said yes to doing it again and this time you pay as we paid this time
On story 5, I'm really confused. Why is it wrong to refuse food that could actually hurt you? _OP literally has a gluten allergy!_
Too much work, too much expensive, not enough entitled b*tch getting shoved in police cars.
I used to work at a Subway that was in a shopping complex. I cannot tell you the number of times some entitled butthead would park directly at the curb in front of the store, clearly painted red with the words "FIRE LANE NO PARKING" stenciled all across the front of the building! I refused service to dozens of people that did that
Backhand the neighbour a solid one. Or if you prefer pay and say loudly on facebook about them, let the social circle they have eat them alive ;).
I hope you n Steve are having an great day!
that first one, so damn entitled, the fact that they contacted OP's parents and claimed "don't worry we have these coupons where we get 2 meals free if we order 2 meals" when OP's parents were worried about costs. either they are complete scam artists or they are genuinely clueless and will probably end up accidentally robbing a bank in the future.
The woman who wouldn't show up was screaming "I GOT KIDS!" just made me flashback to Heath Slater's last WWE run. 🤣😂🤣😂
@@someguy7629 that is very unfortunate.
I'd have paid for my meals and tell the waiter that the coupons weren't being used
Story 4: No BS, I like that
I would have paid $40.00 at the cash register, getting my receipt as proof of payment.
