Wow! This is perfect. Never even thought about a set up like this in my office. We have a hard shooting videos because we are busy and taking and putting up lights and equipment take too long. Thanks for the sharing and going to be buying this entire parts list today :).
Built one of these today for work and my Zoom meetings... my clients LOVE the clarity of my SL3 and Sigma lens, but getting all that out of the way and organized is awesome. Thanks! for this video, it’s perfect!
I just added this video to more than 10 lists of youtube, audio, lenses, recording studio, lighting, recording studio, etc. This video is by far the best of 2019, congratulations!
HI there.I know this video is almost a year old, but guess what. Its super relevant to me at this exact moment. I have made my TH-cam studio on a stand and I am thrilled about it. I think maybe (even though I know your not strapped for content) to make talk about what you’ve learned from these older videos, give us some updates, and new ideas. The info is priceless, thank you!
I am looking to buy my first TH-cam use camera.... and I think this has pushed me over the edge for a A6600 when its released. If you happen to see this Id love to know if there is something better in that price range for TH-cam videos. 99% in my home for product reviews and how to...
Just started my build and gotta say, thanks Caleb. I live in a small apartment and this is exactly what I was looking for but didn't know till you made it. Been seeing other creators now credit you as inspiration behind their own build and its no surprise - this thing is *amazing!* You're the man 🤟
I built this thanks to your video over a year ago, and it’s been SO helpful. One note- I use a Canon C200, pretty heavy, and thought I’d use a more expensive head, but the cam weight pulls the smart clamp arm down, so the cam is not level in that direction. Ball head is the way to go.
I was put on to this video and love it. Thanks. But much of the clamps are not available. I tried to get most of it but also have a tmp-100 teleprompter. Should I just use the tripod? My goal was to wheel this around the office. Thanks b
Thanks for all work on help amateurs like me to DIY good enough setups, or even incredible setups, spending money in the correct stuff ! I would like to see video classes small rooms setups, to stand up filming, with teleprompter, with 1 or 2 cameras, plus pc screen, recorded output to post-edition. Best regards from Brasil !
This is the single most helpful, remarkable setup I’ve seen amongst the hundreds I’ve watched from you, Sean Cannell, Potato Jet, and a host of others. Thank you Caleb. Thank you so much.
The best TH-cam channel I've ever seen Filled with clever informations and insights Clear and simple explanation for viewers Thank you very very much In Arabic شكرا جزيلا بارك الله فيك وجزاك الاسلام والجنة
OK. Out of all of your crazy “ultimate ...” this is by far the most practical of them all! I film in my office which is 16x16 but I share with another person so efficient use of space is a must!
Really creative. I enjoyed this video. I have learnt a thing or two and I'll definitely apply some of I have learnt to my set-up. Thanks for making this video.👍👍👍
Awesome video Caleb! I’m wondering about the camera settings and any LUTs that you use to get the same quality as this video? Do you have another video talking about this? Appreciate the help 🙏🏼
this is awesome content coz you make the way more shorter for someone who's thinking about some kind of setup and doesn't know where to start, so you give us a great ideas and then we can adjust the setup as our requirements and needs which makes our work way easier .. thanks a lot for such a contents.
First comment I've ever made on TH-cam - but BEST VIDEO EVER. I looked everywhere for something like this set up. I literally said out loud "He!! YEA" when it started! Ha. Amazing. Well done, well described, and so helpful. Many thanks! Liked and subscribed! - kelly
I saw this video when it was originally released and enjoyed it. But now that I'm looking at livestreaming from my office - THIS IS GENIUS!!! I'm ordering the goods today!
What would be ultra awesome is combining the rolling stand and desk studios. Pop it off the desk and onto a stand and vice versa. I might try that as I really need both. I would also set it up for voice over/audio interface with a laptop So many possibilities. Thanks, great idea.
Awesome. I just might do this, because it would help me a lot with an autobiographical piece I’ve been thinking of doing in various locations in my home.
I keep an eye on this channel, not a videographer but always like your presentations. This one is brilliant, loved it. Really appreciate the physical putting together of all the parts and full description of what they are. I don't live somewhere where I can visit a store packed w/ accessories (or even just a plain ol' camera store), so this approach of yours really teaches me in a most complete fashion. Thanks
OMG! You are a life-saver! I've been trying to create a compact solution for extremely small space ... then I saw this video ... cheaper light and I'm there ... THANKS!
Ever since I first saw this video I've been daydreaming about an outdoor/mobile/portable version of this. I travel full-time in an RV and film almost exclusively outdoors. Any thoughts on that, or has anyone seen someone do a portable studio setup? It'd need to fold up easily and it'd need to be able to be used on uneven surfaces. Thanks for a great video! Love the desk version, too.
Thanks for what you do. I'm exploring setting up a TH-cam channel for work purposes, and your advice helps. I travel a bit so a setup like this as I move around every couple of months would be helpful.
Awesome video as always. FYI, there’s a company out of Kingston, Washington, an hour northwest of Seattle by car and ferry boat, that sells stands just like you created, their name escapes me, I met them at cine gear, LA this year, and when they told me they are out of Kingston, I said WASHINGTON?! They said yes! Why are you so excited? I live in Seattle!! Their product is very affordable, durable, users friendly, and awesome! Soon as I remember their name I’ll shoot it your way! Continued success!!
Hi Caleb, this looked great in your video. I ordered exactly that, and the stand parts arrived one hour ago. Now, everything is mounted, and it looks like the one in the video. And: it WORKS as shown. Thank you for this inspiration! Best regards from GERMANY, Michael
This is an awesome setup. Purchased the whole thing with the exception of the camera, mic and light... Can't wait to put this thing together! Thanks for the video...
OMG I've been trying to create something like this (but for a webseries) for about a year now and was so close...this has given me SO many ideas to work from! Portability is what I'm going for
Nice! Working at home and will be teaching 100 students online this fall at my university. Also, my daughter is a counselor and doing remote work. Might use this setup for her.
Very clever! I recently built my own version of Adam Savages rolling tool cart to get more organized in my workshop, and this strikes me as the video kit version of that same project. I may have to do something similar for my own talking head shots. That may be my side project this week.
Caleb I just received my very first super clamp in the mail today. Grip equipment has become very addicting. What you can do with it is only limited by one's imagination. Again thank you for sharing. I always love your videos. Especially set up videos like this. Long-term subscriber. - Will
I could see this working great for corporate interview setups where you have to cram everything into a tiny office. I would love to see if this would be stable holding something like the 120d with a light dome as far off to one side as possible and maybe something like a 2' quasar tube as a hair/back light opposite. Thanks for the gresat content caleb
This is awesome! [Side story: I actually saw this old guy w/ a DIY wooden variation of this filming a wedding years ago. Made me chuckle (and cringe a little) at the time then I realized he might look goofy AF but is carrying no weight for the duration of a lengthy wedding ceremony, is really mobile, and has a rock steady shot the entire time too (not to mention the ability to do pseudo dolly and gimbal moves)].
wow! you were GOD SENT!! I was looking at building the perfect youtube setup and I found this video! I honestly don't understand how you don't have a million subscribers already!!! Thank you so much!!!
Great solution! I've been wanting to build 3 of these for a while to solve so many studio or on-site problems. Glad to see you break it down in detail. Thanks!!!
Just when I thought it could not get better, comes Caleb and sets the bar higher one more time. Now I’m loving these new set ups. How about a multi camera set up? That would save so much time.
Well done Jay, awesome video. Great instruction and well presented. Would it be possible to add a teleprompter to this? What if you wanted to stand instead of sit and talk?
I have seen this being done with a 231cs from Manfrotto. Bit less sturdy but easier to handle, and thanks to the grip mounts it takes 10 seconds to go from sitting to standing perspective.
wow, i watched some of your previous videos before, but I never subscribed to your channel. This video just earned a subscription. This is exactly what I need for my home office. Good job sir!
Caleb, I've been watching and using your informative vids for years to help build up my filming kit. Without a doubt your custom rig vids are my favourite but they were never that practical for my use cases. This however is absolute genius and I am going to copy this ASAP. Nice one!
Make it the ultimate portable blog stand: Mount the background lighting on swing arms and use a battery bank source mounted! Then take it different places and shoot videos!!
Thank you for this video. I had just bought two C-stands so I could hang some stuff off of them in the hopes of reclaiming some floor space in my small studio. It never occurred to me to go one step further and mount my camera on it too. I can now walk again in my studio without being a contortionist and having to duck and weave through a jungle of light stand legs and tripods.
Another great one. If you have a couple of these in the studio you’ll be pretty lethal. For me I love to build a setup where I can just turn on the light and camera and record. This is the one.
This is the easiest and the most awesome 👌 doable and manageble video I've ever seen on the platform, would have been great though if u had shown the camera setting as well, I have a6000 and I'm still trying to figure out the camera settings in manual mode for video that will easily light me well and blure the fairy lights in the background...
Una idea genial!!! Me encanta! Veo que puede ser una exclenete idea para el contenido de limpieza que hago. Muchas gracias por compartir!

This is great film!!! One of the most difficult issues is ergonomics in the recording and you showed how you can do it without losing energy. I look forward to more such films.
Great video as usual. One possible modification: You could save the $140 for the stand and buy something like a $40 dolly for the tripod you probably already have. e.g. on Amazon, a Dolica LT-D100 Professional Lightweight and Heavy Duty Tripod Dolly with Adjustable Leg Mounts (and locking wheels). Depending on what model tripod, could be way more flexible.
DSLR Video Shooter yeah I really need to get this. I sent the vid to a youtuber friend of mine Andrew Huang as well cause I know he spends a lot of time on video equipment setup. (We spent about 3 hrs one day setting up for a video together. I’m pretty sure this would have cut that at least in half.) This is such a useful idea for a regular content creator.
Hi. I run a successful (non-photography) youtube channel and I would just like to thank you for your hard work and excellent content, I realise and appreciate just how much work goes into putting quality work together. And whilst I run a full studio, Rather than needing this excellent idea, I have found your channel truly helpful and a little expensive at times I must add, but it has definitely helped me chose the right gear and create the quality I have been striving to achieve. Thank you again and you deserve the success of this channel. Thank you. Andy.
Amazing! I’m just setting up a new studio and have been looking for solutions to elimate the clutter or stands and wires…this takes it to another level. Thank you! Amazing content!
Great idea. I have most of these parts so I am going to build one. I will add a laptop stand though as I think this will help for live streaming options
Awesome Caleb. This content is super helpful for people as a starting point. I really like this setup and can see some improvements I could make. I’m gonna build it out!

Does the Intellytech light come with the soft box you used? I saw on BH it comes with one but it looks different from yours?
Looks very nice but was surprised that you did not attach the mic stand to the super clamp. Given the square shape it looked like a perfect fit!
DSLR Video Shooter An awesomely wonderful and beautiful invention. 😊🎉One question how do you get your audio to sound so good?
You're the king of these ergonomic all-in-ones.
also dont forget yourself :)
Agreed! Genius!
Big words coming from Gerald
are you the prince?
Ha! Thanks brotha!

Thank you so much for the support!
Man - I’m so glad Peter McKinnon and Aputure invented this a year later!! 🤣🤣😜
I was thinking the exact same thing when I saw Peter's thumbnail.
This is... exactly what I've been needing for a setup or two. Holy cow. You just changed my world.

The audio with that Rode is really pretty good. Great idea as always, Caleb. I'm part of the way there. The LED softbox is the hard part.
Wow Caleb, this is exactly what I need to do in my studio. I despise spending so much time on setup and whatnot for my videos. Damn... this is cool.
Thanks Grant! It is so easy to setup!
Exactly my thoughts. Now I'll have to figure a low cost version, because 1500 USD or € are a little bit out of my monetary league.
Gustavo Mendoza DIY Perks has a video on making those kinds of LED light panels for way cheaper than you can buy them.
