      what happens when you touch your desk? does the footage move?

    • @NatesFilmTutorials
      @NatesFilmTutorials  หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you rest your arms on the desk, there will be some shake. However, for light taps or placing things down, it's barely noticeable, and the camera stabilizes after a few seconds. In short, while it's hard to completely eliminate the shake without mounting the camera separately, this setup works pretty well overall.

    Love this setup, just one thing to keep in mind, if you're an artist or are doing anything where the desk could vibrate/move... that will result in shaky camera. If you have a heavy-duty enough desk, you might not have too big of an issue. Just something to keep in mind if you're a creator of that kind.

    Great video! Do you notice a lot of camera shake with it being mounted to your desk for the overhead camera? I had a cheaper arm at one point mounted to my desk but my sony was just wobbling all over the place so I've tried a ceiling mount lately lol. But if this isn't giving you a lot of shaking when you're moving things on the desk I may have to check it out!

  • @tyronethegenius

    The beginning of the video says it all. I have a set of tripod sticks that I refuse to take down because its setup right where I need it. Even though its the only set of sticks I have, I would rather it stay there and I figure out how to prop the camera up for other shots than keep tearing down and resetting for various content shots. Same for my lights which is nothing more than a humble ring light, a work light modified with barn doors and a can light with black aluminum foil wrapped around to shape the light. I'll eventually have a setup up that is more routine and streamlined.

    I've just realized I needed a setup like this. The family moved to a new flat and I had to rebuild my whole studio again. The room is smaller and I needed to tinker with the setup so I get at least one shooting angle with more space behind me. At the same time, I'm on... tripods, C-stand and my setup is for three cameras filming at the same time. In 9 square meters I'm being aware that whatever I want to do, I need to move something. The studio was finished a week ago and I moved the stuff more than I filmed anything. Your video came as recommended in my feed so I guess the YT Gods were with me. Your solution here gave me some great ideas and luckily most of the stuff you mentioned is available in the EU (I'm based in Sweden). The top down shot is new to me as you've solved it so big thanks for that. Also, thank you for sharing those extra tips about filming and using the desk, slider, lighting in those special ways. Neat!!

    You may consider switching over to the El Gato Key Light, which comes with a desk mount, to avoid the need for a Softbox Mini. It's smaller, lighter and bright enough for your use case. Additional unnecessary set-up would be to add the Atem Mini Pro recorded directly to SSD. You'd be limited to 1080p, but you could switch to the overhead or front camera as desired and potentially have it recorded in a single take. Especially if you use something like a Parrot teleprompter clipped onto the front of your lens and using your cellphone to scroll your script or bullet points.

      Thanks for the feedback, and glad you found the video helpful! Yeah, there is a bit of shake, especially when typing, but I’ve found that once the camera settles and I’m not resting on the desk, it’s pretty stable.

    You should build on this video. It seems to score the best amongst most videos at the moment. So Make one on "How to Build an Entire TH-cam studio on one desk" I know the content would most likely correspont with this video but it would adress a totally different audience.

    Thank you for this review and desktop showcase. Do you recommend your light setup for video calls? Aka, an aperture 120d and the softbox you have?

    • @NatesFilmTutorials
      @NatesFilmTutorials  6 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Yes, absolutely! the 120D is no longer available new, but you can get the amaran 60ds which will work well!

      @@NatesFilmTutorials Thank you for replying to my question. I will look into the Godox SL-100 Bi-color. I looked for the softBox that you have recommended, Godox S85T, and it is no longer available. Any other recommendation for softbox?
      I also wanted to ask if the light from the softbox is something that bothers eye or strain the eyes if used for hours per day during video calls?

    Mind if I ask how you achieved the lighting on the back blue wall? And what are using as your practical/rim light in the shots where your key light is in the background? 2:36

    • @NatesFilmTutorials

      Appreciate it! I have an amaran 200x geni.us/imnsu with the amaran spotlight geni.us/4u2s to give it a bit of texture on the back wall.
      The lightsaber looking light is an amaran t4c, and I used an Aputure Mc, to add a bit more of a backlight for that specific shot.
      Hope this helps!

    Good walk through of your setup. I'm curious at 9:30 you mentioned the dual camera setup, how do you align the two video clips in post production? I tried it once and it's a nightmare trying to line up all the clips. Am I right in thinking in the film industry, that is why they use the clapper boards to make a sharp sound to help them align the clips in post?

    • @NatesFilmTutorials
      @NatesFilmTutorials  14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That is correct! That way still works, but now most software can automatically sync the cameras together!
