    Today we’re going to talk about how to get rid of constipation. Specifically, we’re going to talk about what to do if you have constipation after starting the ketogenic diet.
    For people who have had chronic constipation before starting the keto diet, you may need a deeper evaluation by your doctor. A natural laxative may also be a helpful constipation remedy.
    Here’s what you could consider if you started having constipation after starting keto:
    1. Adjust your vegetables
    A. Try increasing or decreasing the number of vegetables you consume.
    B. Try different types of vegetables.
    C. Switch to fermented vegetables or consume some of your vegetables raw, and some of them steamed.
    2. Add bile salts
    3. Add potassium
    4. Add a probiotic
    5. Add an herbal laxative
    6. Add vitamin B1

    3, sun, deep breathing, stretching
    4, poop stool on bathroom
    5, use Vaseline when wiping
    6, skip inflammatory food, avoid certain veggies and legumes
    7, no sodas or junk food or fried food
    8, no late dinner
    9, go to bed early
    10, prunes
    11, oatmeal in am
    12, olive oil before breakfast
    13, water before breakfast
    14, skip hot food and chocolate and fried food and heavy fatty food
    15, early diiner, no breakfast until 13 hr later
    16, b1, potassium, magnesium citrate
    17, bile salts if needed
    18, pre/pro biotics if needed
    19, veggies, papaya...

    Magnesium esp. Magnesium Citrate resolves constipation. Magnesium deficiency can result in constipation.

    Not sure if you remember me. I'm the 70-years-old woman who spoke to you over the phone during one of your recent live Q & As regarding lifelong constipation. Since we spoke, I've slightly increased the amount of MCT oil a little at a time and seem to have found a balance that works. Also increased water intake.       @Clever OG You need, or should consider ingesting fiber slowly. Fiber is beneficial both for your gut (besides constipation) and for your system, I would consider searching what does a 0 fiber do to your body long term.

    Hi, I love your videos and often watch them daily! I would have thought apple cider vinegar would be on your list before meals to up the acidity and help break down foods? What about magnesium too? Or is that what the bile salts do? And also vitamin C? Thanks, Laura

    Thank you for valuable information. I have been constipated for years now. What helps in my situation is drinking coffee and baking soda with water on empty stomach, eating flax seed and beet. However, lately nothing helped. So what helped me is malasana pose for couple of minutes right after the meal. Cheers xx

    thanks for the video. Yes I have suffered too since starting Keto. Dried prunes also helped ...but then I'm taking fruits which i didn't want to do. I'll try your recommendations and see how that works.

    Glycerin Suppositories (for occasional constipation/use occasionally when really uncomfortable). Easy and works in minutes. It’s not ideal but it’s a reliable way to get relief while your body adjusts to your dietary and lifestyle changes.

    I think the key thing is that moving from a high carb to high fat diet creates these challenges. And let’s hope your suggestion about bile potassium and laxatives helps

    I started Keto a couple months ago and I love it. I have a tendency to get constipated so I control it by adding 1 Tbs Red Chill to my meal, walk (20 minutes) and do abs (5 minutes) after dinner and drink lots of water during the day. Very informative thank you.

    One way that helped me was to make a smoothie daily made with alkaline water, fresh blueberry, cranberry, strawberry, ginger, turmeric root, chia seeds, flax seed, almonds, mixed with mixed frozen fruit, ACV. I use the bathroom twice a day and lost 6lbs in 2 months.

    Normally I am quite regular, often (not always) to the point of diarrhea. But three weeks ago (after having blood in my urine from a kidney stone issue) and watching your videos, I added lemon water to my diet, cut down on my sugar and fruit intake and started eating more vegetables. Since that time I have gotten some light constipation (not going every day) so will have to try some things in your video. Thankfully I already passed the kidney stones, with the help of the lemon water.

    I was eating jusy cheese and eggs with spinch...started to have constipation...but then i added more boiled veggys...flexseeds...chia seeds...magnesium...and water...im back to.normal.

      I take 2 or 3 Tbsp of chia seed soak them for 10 to 20 minutes and 1 tsp of moringa powder at the same time 5 pm and the works for me makes me regular i also take 1000mg of magnesium throughout the day but when I don't take my chia seeds I have trouble going to the bathroom. I like your regiment better 😉. I also drink like 8 to 10 cups of water 💧.

    This is excellent, and so important. Emotional issues can cause constipation also, anyway that was mainly my problem. I myself, was on an herbal laxative by Nature's Sunshine for 30 years. It did not cause side effects at all. Just softened the stool slightly, and kept me regular. Years later, I sought a homeopathic doctor out for many reasons; one of them being, I could always stop pain and flu symptoms consistently with a mild homeopathic remedy for $10. I said to myself, "why not talk to homeopathic specialist about other problems." The homeopathic specialist I chose, moves one through the process slowly, looking for one's primary constitutional remedy. After a year on different remedies, my constipation went away. I no longer need herbal help, and it has been 3 years. I will tell you that I used to hold in my feelings

    Been constipated my entire life. Something that helps me is eating prebiotic foods to feed the probiotics. Also avoiding lectins

      I've read that probiotics are pointless without prebiotics. Makes sense to me if one researches it.

      @@ksc743 yeah before, when I just had prebiotic, it didn't do anything for me. Now I feel the benefits of the probiotic as long as I have my prebiotics.

      @@colinbourne923 they feed your probiotics and help them do its work. A very good prebiotic food is garlic. I have a clove of garlic every day. You can just buy the chopped garlic and take a spoon of that. Swallow it down with juice.

    Due to complex surgery where a mistake was made and which lasted 6:30 hours I now suffer from Alcock Syndrome. It gives me continuous constipation. Thank you very much Dr Berg for the advice. I already try several natural remedies; senna, psyllium, cranberry tea, mulberry leaves, chamomile etc,.. But I didn't know about vitamin B1. This is very valuable information! 👍

    I don't have a gallbladder, so the fermented food is a no go, also raw is a pain to digest. The only thing that worked a little bit for me is ginger juice shots on an empty stomach and ginger tea. Also cooked vegetables and potatoes!

    I have had constipation my entire life. My mum told me stories of taking me to the Dr when I was 5 or 6 because of it. What has helped me recently is using omega 3 supplements. 369 works better, but plain omega 3 will do as well. Fibre powder doesn't work, apolactulose doesn't work. The stronger ones are far too painful I did it once and almost fell off the toilet in pain with sweats. With the omegas I go to the bathroom the next day with ease, and sometimes go multiple times. Hoping this can help someone.
