    Nice video, and it’s a fantastic light that might just be the best $60 mod on a JL. Suggestion, though. It’s cleaner to run the wire through the hardtop itself, rather than the window weatherstripping route, using the same hole the existing wiring and washer tube is routed through to the port where those disconnects terminate. The LED light cable is the perfect length to terminate in that port (for ease of removing the hardtop), and that portal can be popped out to make it easy to fish the cable through those holes. Rather than wiring into the dome light power, you could also hardwire the power into the 12v power with a push button or rocker switch mounted in the plastic housing around the base of the roll bar that will give you on demand light with a cleaner install than the plug in cigarette adapter. A bit more of a flexible and clean installation option for camping, etc.

      Thank you for this awesome feedback. For this video this was my first time seeing a JL and only had a few hours to install and record this video. After reading your comments I have seen other JL owners install as you mentioned and I could not agree more. Looks great and the 12v hardwire is a great idea as well. THANKS

      If wired through a rocket switch mount, could you turn the light on through the remote control still even if the rocket switch is off?

      I accidentally did this way and it's great. Don't even see the wires at all. There's a bit of black electrical tape you just need to remove, run thru the chinese fingertrap looking tube, pop off a bit of the roof liner and slide it down the driver side to the port. I'm having a bit of a time getting that plastic pipe on the rear window to clasp down properly. I'll give it another go this weekend.

    I'm so glad the instructions that come with this product say to install the light so the wires are on the passenger side. Thanks, Brawlee.

    A couple tips. This item has changed some since the version he is putting in - he doesn't show pulling the wire through the little door next to sport bar and then coming back out other side to get started going up the sport bar. 2. There are Torx screws on both sides of the bar at the top near the light. Also doesn't show current version of this light which uses Bluetooth controller. 3. Its important to connect wire from light with the arrows (very tiny) pointing at each other on the controller. There is a very cheesy 4 pin adapter in with the Bluetooth controller, about the size of a dime in the bag, very easy to lose! Without it you're dead. So look for the tiny adapter, look for the tiny arrow on the wire from the light and the tiny arrow on the white Bluetooth connector. Once connected tape that together - it WILL come apart easily otherwise. You will still be able to disconnect the light to use the 12v plug if you want. Last, theres a sticker on the BT connector bag with a couple lines of text, there is no reference to this in the install guide. When you first start the BT controller app on your phone it will ask you a couple things, the sticker on that bag shows you the answers. The light can be quirky - mine will occasionally go through the whole color cycle randomly when shut off. That brings up something else not mentioned. The light can be any color of the rainbow you want and can do a light show of sorts if you want - maybe fun at a car show. I think the flashing red could be useful when you are pulled over on the side of the road. Its a great mod - you will love it!

      The RGB install is a completely different video. We believe we capture all of your concerns on the video. One is certainly the arrows on the Bluetooth controller. Thanks for watching. th-cam.com/video/1CAVn0Mt950/w-d-xo.html

    I think this light bar might be my first mod! Thanks so much for this, helpful seeing it on your own Jeep model.

      Absolutely this is a inexpensive upgrade that has been so helpful in helping others setup their camp sites, cooking, or just finding stuff in the back. Thanks for watching.

    This is exactly what I needed to see. Saved me from running a second switch up front for manual use. I can unplug the hardwire and use the 12V for longer term lighting! Great video!

    • @JeepsRoc
      @JeepsRoc  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you. Yes the long term is what we liked most. Because standby mode in the Jeep is not long enough for camping. One of our favorite add-ons. Thanks again for watching.

    Can I make this lights stay on for longer than the dome lights? Ex. for cooking on the tailgate

    • @JeepsRoc
      @JeepsRoc  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The easiest way would to use the DC adapter that you would plug into your DC/Cig connection if you have one. We do that especially when we are cooking or getting ready to setup camp in the evening.

      @@JeepsRoc so hardwiring it is basically useless 😂

      @JeepsRoc  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s great for unloading and loading. The hardwire is good for daily routines and unplug and plug into DC for camping.

      Thank you for the kind words. This was our first JL to ever see in person and we had less than 1 hr to get familiar with the new look and feel for Jeep. It sure does look good on a JL.

    Could you please show exactly where the wire from the dome connection comes out of the plastic housing/Roll Bar housing? I am looking to hide it as much as I can. Thanks.

      I will look at some my additional footage and see if I can provide a clearer exit point. I only had this JL for filming so I don't have access to it to check the install again. Sorry.

    I have a JL 2018 Rubicon. Is this light bar curved a Little? Or straight?

    • @JeepsRoc
      @JeepsRoc  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Curved a little. It has to be to have a nice fit. Follows the same lines of the hatch

    Has anyone installed this for the front windshield? Or can this be installed on the inside front windshield?

    • @JeepsRoc
      @JeepsRoc  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is designed for the rear hatch, but it is ultra lightweight and can be attached by 3M tape not sure if you will achieve the right angle but it’s worth a try. We have another one mounted on the front of the rear support bar to provide interior lighting. Thanks for the question.

  • @james2004TxVet
    @james2004TxVet 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    What are the floor mats you have on the back of the rear seat?

    • @JeepsRoc
      @JeepsRoc  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for the delay on response. Those are the factory MOPAR mats. This is a Rubicon edition.
      They have what I would call snaps that connect to the back so when the seats are folded down they do not get the back of the seats dirty. A nice edition to the JL.

    I installed and noticed when I dim the light down to 25%-50% per the remote, the light tends to have a flicker effect. Does anyone else have this issue? Its hard on the eyes almost like a dim strobe.

    • @JeepsRoc
      @JeepsRoc  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No I have not seen that. If you are dimming it should dim in a matter of seconds and be done. I set mine to around 25% and leave it until I am ready to use it that way it is not blinding in the dark.
