Try to teach more songs of hope and faith and love like the old fashioned folks songs that Christian people would sing 100 years ago. Songs found in early Southern Christian Churches like FARTHER ALONG.
Im 64 and have just started playing in my retirement and i have to say that you have the best instructional videos. Please keep them coming, god bless!!!
This is useful. I was finally able to play this song thanks to this video and the elaborate explanation on the rhythm and swing in general. Thank you. The rhythm is always a struggle for me as a beginner, and most of the lead youtubers don’t talk about it.
Thank you to our guitar wizard, you always find a way to make it so simple and easy for us all. Please stay safe, keep well. Love and blessings from the Kruger National Park, Phalaborwa in South Africa.🤗🤗🇿🇦🇿🇦
My friend sounds n like Neil Young n loves him he a karaoke singer this is a great song I'm going to learn n surprise him thks love ur awesome Mrs. Lauren.
Nice break down, I love Neil Young's music shame I can't listen to it on Spotify any more. Lucky for me when my mother moved she game me all her CD's so I can still listen to him.
The way I learned on this song I did was D and D/BM, and I had fun doing it and that was the best way I learned it but thank you for teaching me this song I had so much fun just doing this song but thank you again 😊.
When you did that up chord, that reminded me of a Ozzy Osbourne song that he wrote for his son,its a beautiful song on one of his solo albums, when you hit that melody,it was a throwback thx for sharing 🥰
Greetings Lauren... I'm visiting family in Cork, came across a family of Bateman's interred in local cemetery, they were born in late 1840 just following the Irish Famine... I wonder are you connected... Keep smiling
Love the way you teach. Lots of songs are above where I'm at. But, you have a way of teaching songs I enjoy at a basic level so I can be practicing and learning at the same time. I do have a request Jamestown Revival's song "Young man"
Thank you, Cecil for the recommendation. I get lots of song requests so I cannot guarantee that I will get to it, but I will definitely add it to my list.
Salu Lauren, a very good Lesson for Beginners. The Original is a little bit to complicated for Beginners, cause you have to use Drop D Tuning and the Harmonics on the 12th and 7th fret for the beginning of the Song. To spice up the Song I'm using the Emin7. Sounds wonderful. Keep on rocking Lauren and have a happy weekend. Greets from your northern Neighbor ☺☺🎸🎸
Another great lesson from one of my favorite TH-camrs! I learned this song in drop D tuning, but your lesson is so much fun, especially for "beginners" who never heard of things like drop D tuning. Cheers, Lauren! :)
The upper fret variation you used reminds me of the Everly Brothers intro riff for Walk Right Back. I wonder of Mr. Y had that in his head when he wrote this song ( please don’t report this). Fun song to play.
Fabulous... love it... I wish you taught how to play 'Southern Cross' by Crosby, Still & Nash... great guitar song :-) I will continue to cross my fingers
Thank you, Pat for the recommendation. I get lots of song requests so I cannot guarantee that I will get to it, but I will definitely add it to my list.
@@LaurenBateman Thanks for replying. Even if you don't have a chance, your channel is awesome and thank you so much for your guitar lessons 🙂 I really enjoy it
Class sounds coming from the new Taylor, how are you finding it compared to your other guitar? thanks again for showing us the actual intro as done by Mr Young, I'm working on it at the moment on the 12 string guitar, which I keep tuned down a full tone,a bit easier to sing for my baritone voice.
The Taylor definitely has a warmer sound than the Crafter. I'm still partial to the crafter because I like the placement of the strap tab much better and I also like that my crafter has a built-in tuner. 🤣 Sometimes it's about the ease of use. But I think the tailor sounds much better on these finger-pickings songs. A much more balance tone.
Not a song I'm familiar with Lauren but a great lesson. Have you done a lesson for Willie Nelson's version of Always on my mind? I'm trying to learn it currently but none of the videos I've seen or the chord sheet I'm using clarify how many beats each chord is played for and it's not obvious listening to the song. The way you break the songs down would be perfect for that song! Keep up the good work, always enjoy watching your lessons 👍
Hi. ...Been watching your videos for a while..Brand new subscriber. I very much enjoy you. I've taken an online basic guitar lesson course...can comfortably play a dozen or so chords and have three or for strumming patterns that I'm competent at. BUT HONESTLY what I enjoy most is trying to improvise over backing tracks. I can competently navigate 5 different 3NPS scale shapes...but I'm not very good at making those scales sound musical over the backing tracks. ANY advice on how I can improve? Thanks.
Hi Eric, I have a lead guitar course as part of my Stage 2 items. You might find that helpful starting with the pentatonic scale: www.laurenbatemanguitar.com/stage2
Sounds fine to me. Are you one of those music purists that prefers to make things harder than they need to be VS making them easier to understand and fun?
It's not about being a purist. This instruction is wrong in a few areas pertaining to this song. The comment is correct but your reaction to an unfavorable comment is wrong. There is no E minor and B minor? He may be a purist but there is an element of fun in expanding the skills of the student beyond his or her ability. This is what separates a teacher from an opportunist
I think this is just a basic idea of the song so the student can get the gist of it. Later when you’re more comfortable, you can get a more precise tutorial, which are available. That’s what I do. In the 10 years I’ve been playing live, nobody has ever come up to me saying, “you played it incorrectly!” lol! Thanks for sharing the lesson Lauren

Yes you can do drop D tuning. I decided to stay in standard. I hate having to change tunings when I can just stay in standard

I actually haven't done any Willie Nelson. I should.
Have you ever tryed flamenco guitar?
I have not
How come there isn't any sheet music tabs to follow and print? I feel like I can't perfect the song without print out
You have to pay for sheet music so the money can go to the copyright holders. Try Music Notes or Hal Leonard for an official chart.

This is not correct…not even close….he plays in Drop D and does not use any of the open chords you stated at the beginning.
