I dont mean to be so off topic but does anyone know a method to log back into an instagram account?? I somehow forgot the password. I love any tricks you can give me
@Chaim Larry thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site on google and I'm trying it out now. Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.

Thank you for such a genuine caring personality and an intuitive way of teaching and relaying instructions. I am a very small framed, 63 year old man battling a Parkinson’s related disease called Oromandibular Dystonia that has taken away most of my ability to speak and chew and swallow, my neurologist has said that learning to play an instrument like a guitar could possibly help heal the nerves and synopses in my brain. I plan to try and invest more time in learning to play, thank you and God Bless You.

I've been watching her video for a month or two. She is very good when teaching. I took banjo lessons for years. But this way is great to learn and I'm 60
Lauren I absolutely enjoy your style of teaching, it's always positive and upbeat. I'm starting at 55. I truly believe that anyone can play as well. Music is a gift that gives to everyone, listen, play, or create, it always makes your soul happy!!!
I am 72 years old. I have picked up my acoustic guitar many times over the last 50 years. I’ve given up every time. Your video has given me the confidence to continue playing as bad as I do and maybe I’ll get past this stage. So many of your points describe what I’m going through as if you watched me. Thank you.
You are amazing Lauren. When most people give up on the older generation because they think we are a waste of time and unable to do very much, you are a bright shining light we have been looking for. Thank you for explaining things so clearly and allowing us to believe in you and your teaching method. I have just turned 67, been learning for 10 days and really enjoying the journey with your teaching skills
Lauren ! You are an awesome teacher !!… I’m 72 with Parkinson’s and was about to give up … but you’ve inspired me to keep trying and your tips and advice are without equal!!
Man I feel for you I know what you are going through I'm 56 and I have Pasrkinsons myself my problem is the shaking and sometime when you are trying to hit just that one string. I wish you well and good luck my friend don't let it get you down I don't let get me .I WISH YOU WELL AND A LONG HAPPY AND HOPEFUlly not to much problems with your parkinsons I will pray for you.
I am a doctor in Mauritius graduated from Bordeaux,France and i started last year at age of 61.after 6 months i started playing and singing .I am doing well and having fun, impressing my friends and public. I follow and like your lessons on TH-cam.thanks.
I had no idea there were so many students my age or much older learning guitar, and it is such an encouragement to me! Lauren I want to commend you because you care enough to amplify these lessons and make learning the guitar easy and fun. You dot every i and cross every t, these are great tips and I'm improving, little by little. THANK YOU SO MUCH, anyone can teach, but very few actually CARE and are willing to work with students to help them accomplish their goals and you are one of a kind!
I only started 6 years ago when I was 44. I stopped playing last year when my Dog passed, but now I want to get back to it. Thank god for patient teachers like this because when I started I went to lessons for a few years & the teachers had no patience at all. I was so frustrated wanting to learn chords etc.
Almost 60 years old, got my first guitar, lauren is my chosen teacher, I'm starting to make basic music already, finger tips really are really sore, can't wait to get back to practice,
Lauren has been so helpful in helping me to begin leading worship at my church. I’m 62 years old and in about 4 months she helped me refine the skills I had from taking lessons over 15 years ago. I am so appreciative!
This woman is a true teacher. As a professional guitarist & victim of a stroke I am determined to play well again. Lauren is a Godsend. She's a truly talented teacher. I'm not ready to try playing in front of my friends or anyone at this point but I feel more & more motivated as I watch each lesson. Bless you Lauren. You are helping someone return to their life's passion.🌹
I think I've seen every "beginner's lesson" here on youtube and I don't think I've ever heard anyone else say, "Yeah, you're going to suck for a pretty good stretch. Don't let it discourage you because it's what beginners do. Just aim for incremental improvement and it will come together." As someone who struggles with what is often times debilitating perfectionism, this message was a revelation. There are many people offering guitar lessons here but few, if any, actual teachers like yourself. I'm so happy I found your channel.
Lauren your an excellent & inspiring teacher I know one day I’m going to transition cords without even thinking & go “what did I just do that was almost perfect?” 😊
Very inspirational video. Being 56 and went back at guitar after 30 years at 50. the struggle is real! But… just nitpicking: if you get 1% better every week, that’s 68% better after a year, mathematically speaking😊
Fantastic vid Lauren, a 71 year old ex guitar player. You are most encouraging. Gave up 12 years ago after a 5 th car accident robbed me of the use of my ring finger and pinky on my left hand. Plan to get the old axe out and have a go again...I guess it's going to be a long process, but interested in using my index and middle finger....got to be done. Thanks for the encouragement. Kind regards from London.
I'm almost 65 (January) and I just bought myself a concert (I also have tiny hands) guitar as an early birthday present for myself and I find your videos really, helpful and encouraging. Once I get my basics down and improve my dexterity I will deffo be looking at your lessons. I consider this to be the warm up period. Thank you
Great tips. I'm 62 and just started a week ago. I have found the 3 finger chords near impossible...but now I am going to concentrate on your 2 finger chords and increase my confidence and I just know that this is the best approach. Thanks Lauren....Cheers.
I’m not an older student (late 20s), but have nerve and tendon damage in my left hand, so learning has been a little slower than it has been for my peers, this video was very helpful, thanks! Wish I had a teacher like you in my area.
GOD HAS BLESSED YOU MY CHILD WITH WISDOM AND KNOWLEDGE YOU ARE A. GREAT TEACHER IN GUITAR LESSON FOR OUR COMMUNITY THANK YOU.LORD KEEP.HER SAFE AND HAPPY IN HER LIFE
Thank you so much, Lauren! Because I'm 76 with arthritic fingers, I've been mad at myself for not learning sooner and had given up my dream of ever learning . Your approach is perfect for us older folks - you've given me renewed hope and incentive!
Where have you been all of our lives?!!? Thank you so much for your amazing way of teaching us! My older brother played years ago until an accident that left him handicap. Long long story short, I found you and now we are learning together ❤ Thank you!
I’m 73 and started playing again 11 years ago. I started with lighter strings, but now I’m able play with heavier gauge strings now. I play a baritone guitar now that has 16-70 gauge strings now.
Wow! You really connected with me with this 7 tips video. Having raced motorcycles for many years. I know the importance of equipment "SETUP." THAT tip alone will help 99% of beginning guitarists... don't ask me how I know.
Tip #7 really hit home with me. I had a younger teacher who I think was intimidated by my previous music experience in other instruments. I STILL NEEDED HELP! Looking back on it now, I realize he was just a really bad teacher, but changed to someone else who basically tested me on what I already knew and then went from there. It was such a difference and I learned more in 6 weeks than I had with the prior teacher in 6 months.
I can see where I'm going to be watching a lot of your videos. You seem to be the teacher everyone wants to learn under. Great stuff, and thanks for the help.
Hey also from Boston here.. but I really do love how you simplify the chords. It really does help to get muscle memory and repetition as you Progress .I watched alot of guiter tutorials and no one has ever introduced that. Great videos! your a great teacher
One more thought. I watch you hold the guitar. I set and just hold the guitar. I do it all the tie. I don't play it I just hold it. the more I do it. It increases my comfort haneling it. You have some great tips. contrary to some ads. a person can learn guitar by watching and following the intrnet.
Approaching 80. Played guitar since teenage. Until now working on chords and theories and where it should fit in a song. Yet am still poor in the styles of finger pickings and soloing and strummings. Your tutorials , tips and Systems is very helpful and it is not too late for me to catch up and make use of my retiring period & during the Pandemic . Will seriously follow the lessons on "finger picking" cause it will help me to play related songs especially to play it with our local songs here in the East. Thanks Lauren Bateman
@Lauren Bateman, really loved the end of your video when you state about modern music being bad. There used to be an advert that stated the following "You can't sing, You can't play, You sound aweful". It does sum up a lot of music, when playing an instrument make sure it can be heard, and the same is for singing you do not need to eat the microphone or scream making it difficult to understand the words or notes. My first guitar tutor was my uncle, his encouragement was you will be a better guitarist than me. Have not played either the piano or guitar since he died. Though have not given up in picking up where I left off. Great inspirational video, having patience makes all the difference between being an alright teacher and a great teacher.
I'm 64 been playing at guitar since about 10 have known your basic four cords forever without knowing their names every body has always played to fast for me to figure outwork on sweet home forever though countless instructors with no luck learned them you one day now practicing to get faster
I bless you everyday! I took lessons years ago. Just turned 60 and because of you, I have started to pick up the guitar and practice again. Please don't stop posting. Your videos are so educational, and your teaching demeanor is simply amazing! Thank you so very much for giving so much to so many !
I just turned 71 and decided to take up the guitar. I take weekly private guitar lessons, however I've been looking on the internet to find videos that can supplement my lessons and help me on my new "patient" journey. Lauren's videos are the answer! Easy to understand, encouraging, and very helpful. Wish I lived in the Boston area so I could take private lessons with you, but the videos will have to suffice. Thanks much Lauren!
Wow this is just what I've been looking for! I'm 56 and I don't plan to be a pro - ever! Still, the perfectionist in me appreciates the permission to take it easy and enjoy the ride! Your videos are so helpful. Thanks, Lauren. And you live in Boston - where I lived for 16 years. :)
Lauren, your comments are right on for older players. I’ve purchased several learn to play courses and while they teach the basics they seem to focus on making their students rock stars. Your right 71 year old fingers and reflexes don’t move like a 21 year old and you need to have fun by playing simpler songs. Reality to me is small hands with rather fat fingertips make playing a challenge but by focusing on what you can do is positive and fun. “Enjoy the journey”
Every one of the 7 tips is golden. Thank you Lauren. I wish I had known them earlier (I'm an "intermediate" beginner, I guess, now trying to cross barre chord hurdle). I would just add: play the songs you love. As soon as I learned chords in the key G, I started learning the song, "Country Roads, Take Me Home" (with Fmaj7 version), which I first listened to over short-wave radio from Voice of America, forbidden at the time in China (taking about older learners, lol). I had tears in my eyes the first time I could play through the whole song. That's what keeps me going.
Lauren, these are fantastic tips! Most of which I follow. I started my guitar playing journey when I turned 50. I just turned 57 and I'm just now starting to feel comfortable with my playing. The thing people need to keep in mind, it's a journey not a destination. Enjoy the learning process and don't be hard on yourself if you can't play something. Overtime, you will get to where you want to be. Although, I'm lucky not to have health issues such as arteritis, I warm up for 10 minute every time I practice by doing various "spider" exercises. Overtime, they make a huge difference. Things my fingers couldn't play a month ago now come so much easier. My speed and finger stretching has improved tremendously by just warming up the fingers before each practice. You are so right about repetition. As boring as it is and as short our attention spans can be sometimes, I've discovered this to be one of the most important things in my practice routine. Our brains and bodies are amazing. Your are absolutely correct when you say anyone at any age can learn to play. The trick is shutting up your inner critic that says you can't. One thing I might add if I may. You touched on it,. Based on my experience, this can't be overstated, take things SUPER SLOW. Like REALLY SLOW. I'm currently learning to play some blues licks. One of the licks has a three finger pull-off using fingers one, three, and four. I literary practiced it everyday by doing each pull-off one finger at a time each one for one beat at a super slow tempo. After a couple of weeks I can almost play it at speed. It can be frustrating, but you are so right. Take it one thing at a time. I may add, don't over practice what you already know how to play, and add something new every few practice sessions. I've been following your channel for a while, it has really helped me with my rhythm and strumming on the acoustic guitar. I know it takes a lot to create videos, so thank you for caring interest and effort to create these great lessons.
Hi Lauren , I'm 65 and played the guitar in my younger days. I learned by ear. I was in an accident, and I shattered my metacarpals in my left hand, I am a right-handed player. I have been frustrated every time I tried to play! I am going to begin with your exercises, play for 15 minutes and TRY to have fun. Thank you for talking about older players as I used to love to play and sing, and I miss it dearly!! 1/16/22 here we go!!
Lauren I am taking your 7 level Beginners Course and love it. I am 51 and have been a beginner for 20 years. Product from jumping all around youtube and getting too much information and then getting down when I can't play those things. I like your short chunks of information and your encouraging demeanor. Just when I get a little disappointed you come around with a video like this!!! 🙂
As an old timer myself I wished I`d knowd about these tips before! I started pickin the banjer because its much easier on the fingers since their tuned to open tunings (which you can do on guitar as well btw). You are a blessing to this world!
Hallo Lauren I‘am 54 years old and try to learn Guitar playing since one year . I Play for one Hour at the most days. Your lessons are Great for a beginner like me, because i also learn the Englisch Language too . My First Language is German . Greetings from Hamburg Germany Stephan
Definitely an older student here, knocking on the door of 60. I tried learning on an acoustic as a young teen with stubby, fat fingers and couldn't master the frets so I gave up instead of finding a guitar that fit with me. The song that inspired me to try to learn was Chicago's "25 Or 6 to 4" with the incredible (and criminally underrated by the media) Terry Kath on guitar. Now I have the urge to learn again, picking up a Squier Affinity Stratocaster with a gorgeous Sienna Sunburst finish and maple fretboard that lured me in. With HSS pickups and a tremolo bridge, it gives me some flexibility in what I can learn to play. I picked it up from a well-known retailer with their luthier setting up a low action and lighter strings for the music I enjoy (classic Chicago and Steely Dan). I'm going to try your finger exercises (your video "Get FASTER Fingers and Chords In 1 Week With My Guitar Finger Exercise") and give your older learner methods a try. Thank you, Lauren, for giving hope to us older folks!
Yes that faster fingers video is great for beginners. Helps to get those fingers moving. Glad you bumped into to me and glad to be a part of your guitar journey. ☺️
Thank you for your encouragement and your kind words! I'm 57 and just started learning again after 35 years. Yes my hands hurt a lot but I won't give up this time. Great job!
Such thoughtful and helpful content. In my late fifties and took 3 years off due to a quiet ordinance in an apt. I was surprised by how much I lost skills. Lost a lot of flow in guitar like strumming and chord changes. Also, dexterity differences. Any tips on chord changes. I am slow with that and especially with Barre chords. I might place 2 finger placements of the positions but not all or miss the proper string etc.... And, I try rotating index finger to Barre but not there yet... Any videos on Barre chords and quicker chord changes and changes that involve barres? Thankyou for this great content, tips and strategies!!! So appreciated. Your passion for teaching and music is so inspiring! 🎸
Hearing I should expect 12 months before I even sound (relatively, I know) decent really helps set expectations. I appreciate this so I don't get frustrated!
Great lesson. I will be 72 years old and played guitar for about 30 years and stopped for around 20 years and just started playing again about three years ago. I appreciate your positive attitude. Interestingly, even after playing off and of for all these years, I still can't hit an F chord without barring it. Your strumming recommendations are terrific. I really never thought about how important that is. You mentioned you liked the music around my era. I don't know if you ever heard of Moby Grape. They were really good.
I'm 70, and an avid golfer. When Covid hit, I decided to learn something new... Guitar! I began my guitar learning with a local shop owner who sings like John Denver and can play cowboy chords and sing amazing. After 7 months he sent me to a different teacher because I was asking things he didn't do himself like Travis Picking, or Music theory. I now have a very well classically trained teacher who hammers Music Theory and plays Jazz, and loves the Beatles. (which are all over my head). So I spend a lot of time on the Internet learning from great teachers like you. I have learned a bunch of new songs and am working on Travis Picking with your videos. You are in a class by yourself when it comes to breaking down hard things and teaching them. I am active on your FB channel and in your 7 level class, but your "How to" videos are SOOO helpful. Thanks for your hard work and insight. (Ps Saw that new guitar!! I still love you Crafter, and you can make such great tone with it. And for all you who think 70 is too old, I have passed my 2 grandsons ages 13 and 16 who started before me but only do Rock guitar riffs. It requires a lot of practice and dedication. Lauren will get the most out of your practice... which is the secret to learning at our age. Probably at any age...
Darth, wow! Thank you so much for sharing your story. I am happy to accompany your lessons with your teacher. Glad that they are working for you and helping. Thanks for being a great student.
I started 6 years ago at the young age of 58. The best thing I did was tell myself that I would practice every day, even if for only 10 minutes. I also found that as strange as it sounds my muscle memory would kick in when I wasn't practicing. By that I mean I would practice for 30 minutes or so on a particular chord or picking pattern and struggle. I'd put the guitar down and come back an hour later and as if by magic my fingers knew what to do.
Lauren . . . . I'm 77 and just starting out. I paid a young man who was well intentioned but really had never worked with anyone near my age. I met with him once a week for four weeks but he really had nothing to offer me. He only served as a motivator in that I felt I needed to show some improvement when I saw him every saturday. if you lived closer, I would hire you in a heartbeat.
I’m 80 years old and bought a left-handed Martin acoustic two months ago. I do have arthritis and notice it feels better since I began practicing. I like country music. I know G, C, D, Dm, A, well. I’m working on a couple of others that I still have to look at the shapes first.
Hi Betty, oh that's fantastic. Short practice sessions are helpful. Have you seen the two finger chords yet? th-cam.com/video/WGIcfDCWysQ/w-d-xo.html&t
@@LaurenBateman Yes, I saw the 2 fingered chords. But I have mastered three-fingered chords so far. All of those I listed. I think there are some difficult-for-me chords ahead, so I’ll be looking for the easier ones for those. I’m practicing your strumming patterns now. Thanks for that because that’s where I’m messing up! And YES! I can’t sing and strum properly, so I’ll take your advice and hum! I need to get faster at changing chords, also. Too many pauses.
Hi. Saint Lauren. I don't teach anyone but at 75 and playing 66 years as I said before I really admire you. You know that anyways. I am so bored at home I went to my garage studio and ripped off 2 or 3 hours of Stevie and Clapton on a Tele and 1500 watt Marshall. I use a hand strength gripper I squeeze on especially my little finger. Really keeps strength up. Got a few calls for help on some albums. Time to have some fun. Really like to see that your subscribers are going up. I just enjoy your demeanor and clarity of expression. You use these qualities to truly be a great teacher. To your unparalleled success. The old guitar player.
I’m 79 and know theory inside and out. I can play all the pentatonic scales both major and minor. I know all the notes on my fretboard but just can’t seem to make my own music. I think you have convinced me to start all over. Thanks.
56 and just picked up a guitar about four months ago....I wish I would have heard this on day one... We as adults want it now....we can't understand we need to crawl before we walk...we need to approach this with a mind of a child....once we are able to do this we can step back and take a big breath and a sigh of relief and then move forward with learning.... For me I was drawn to the blues and with that said...I have found the dominant 7 chords....A, D and E can be very fun along with a few enhancements...12 Bar Blues for me.. ;) Let me say this, your patience is a gift from the Lord God. I will also say as a born again Christian by the Spirit of God, a blood bought slave of Christ, I have met many Saints who are not patient...they are anything but patient...which leads me to who is a saint. The word of God, His holy scripture says a saint is anyone who has been saved by the Lord God. Not those in the Roman Catholic religion who has placed an emphasis on certain individuals...so if someone has faith in Christ and believes He is the Son of God, God the Son, the second person of the trinity then that person is a saint. So, darlin' your patience is God given as He gives us all our attributes from what we look like to how we act and who we are. And i give thanks to the Lord God Almighty for giving you the ability to be graceful and patient with us older folks. I wish I could find some one like you here in TX to take lessons from, it would be a real treat for I have the heart and desire to learn and sing praises to my God. May the Lord God continue to bless you and if you do not know Jesus as Lord may He touch your heart and call you and draw you to Christ so you may have life eternal in Jesus. Romans 10:9-10 9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; 10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.
@@LaurenBateman you are welcome and let me say this will all confidence I have from the Lord God. John 3:27 New American Standard Bible 27 John replied, “A person can receive not even one thing unless it has been given to him from heaven (God).

I am now learning to play guitar via YT videos and am so happy I can across your channel....I've been doing he finger exercises and they do work. Thanks so much!!
At 65 it is no walk in the park. After two years I have developed a level of compatancy. The warm up is so important and keeping the practice short and manageable. Remember rewards will come!
Excellent tips for the mature players still trying to learn to play. At 66 i am a classic example of a new player that has tried and failed many times to learn to play even the basic chords. Age is cruel to your hands, your advice is most welcome.
I'm 51, and somehow managed to luck into most of this, especially the warming up and practicing in short bursts. Now that my fingers can take a little more punishment, I hop between exercises to get more practice in (fingers getting tired/sore? Time to practice my strumming - I don't even need my fretting had for that). One thing I found very helpful - in terms of staying motivated and making it fun - was to learn a simple tune I could pick out on a string or two, like _Ode to Joy,_ _Amazing Grace,_ _Seven Nation Army_ (which you can play on a single string), and finish sessions with that. That way, when grinding chords got discouraging, I could play (part of) an actual song, and feel a sense of accomplishment while I waited for slower, less-perceptible progress. Whenever I get frustrated, switching to something that is recognizably a song reminds me I _can_ play guitar - just not well. Yet. Peace, all. \m/
I restarted at 69 should have never stopped at 16 but I did. Now as a retired chiropractor I encourage the older beginners to just start and have fun. Pain is your friend, stop if it's too much there is tomorrow. No pain no gain is not true! Mild discomfort only. Yes, you have the patience of a Saint.

Btw....you write so well.... you should consider doing it more often. Share what you going through. I will follow you

Thanks for watching!
Lauren must have been sent down from heaven to teach us golden oldies, im 67 and listen to every word.
Thank you for that 😃
I am 72 years old.

Tyrone, I always loved my older students. They were so dedicated. Plus, you have better music. 😎

What a humble person. We are all different and learn at different rates. Clean and understandable. See you again tomorrow.
Absolutely!
David you're so welcome. I love my older students. You're music is so much better 😎😉
I only started 6 years ago when I was 44. I stopped playing last year when my Dog passed, but now I want to get back to it. Thank god for patient teachers like this because when I started I went to lessons for a few years & the teachers had no patience at all. I was so frustrated wanting to learn chords etc.
Almost 60 years old, got my first guitar, lauren is my chosen teacher, I'm starting to make basic music already, finger tips really are really sore, can't wait to get back to practice,
Michael thank you so much. An honor to teach you.
How to get rid of pains from finger tips?
Lauren has been so helpful in helping me to begin leading worship at my church. I’m 62 years old and in about 4 months she helped me refine the skills I had from taking lessons over 15 years ago. I am so appreciative!
So happy to have you as a student Pam. It's been great watching your growth over the year.
I am 64 but look at your advice is so simple. I feel hppy and more confident.
Wonderful! Glad I was able to help
You got this George!
Well said Mark!
Lauren your an excellent & inspiring teacher I know one day I’m going to transition cords without even thinking & go “what did I just do that was almost perfect?” 😊
Thank you very much :) I know you can do it!
Of the dozens of guitar tutors on TH-cam there are 3 that really stand out for me. Justin Guitar, Steve From Guitar Zoom, and this lady.
Aww thank you. Honored to be considered alongside Justin.
Very inspirational video.
Being 56 and went back at guitar after 30 years at 50. the struggle is real!
But… just nitpicking: if you get 1% better every week, that’s 68% better after a year, mathematically speaking😊
Yes, yes, I know 😉 Most people aren't math people. 😎
Well I be darn!!! I never understood math @ all beyond the basics! Thank you for that 'lil equation, it's very encouraging!
Oh my goodness. I'm so sorry to hear that but glad you're inspired to play again.
Thank you
Have fun!
Speaking as a student of guitar and speaking from experience, tip #7 is HUGE.
Great tips. I'm 62 and just started a week ago. I have found the 3 finger chords near impossible...but now I am going to concentrate on your 2 finger chords and increase my confidence and I just know that this is the best approach.
Thanks Lauren....Cheers.
Rock on!

Feel better today. 😊😊
Glad to hear that. Don't give up!

I’m 73 and started playing again 11 years ago. I started with lighter strings, but now I’m able play with heavier gauge strings now. I play a baritone guitar now that has 16-70 gauge strings now.
Awesome!
She's a good guitarist teacher... Very interesting lesson.
Thanks! 😃
Wow! You really connected with me with this 7 tips video.
Having raced motorcycles for many years. I know the importance of equipment "SETUP."
THAT tip alone will help 99% of beginning guitarists... don't ask me how I know.
Rock on Tom. I never raced, but I did drive a motorcycle for many years.
It's important to find the right fit.
The queen of you tube guitar instruction. ABSOLUTELY nothing more need be said.
Aww thank you!!!!!

Hey also from Boston here.. but I really do love how you simplify the chords. It really does help to get muscle memory and repetition as you Progress .I watched alot of guiter tutorials and no one has ever introduced that. Great videos! your a great teacher
Glad you like them!
That's a great idea!
It's never too late. Keep going!
Peter, glad to inspire. Thanks for watching.
I'm not an older student but I've been feeling very demotivated lately. I needed to hear this, thank you so much for the words of encouragement:-)

You are so amazing Lauren💜. You definitely have the gift of teaching and such a beautiful lady to boot!
Thank you so much!
You got this Fred, Enjoy the journey 😃
Every one of the 7 tips is golden. Thank you Lauren. I wish I had known them earlier (I'm an "intermediate" beginner, I guess, now trying to cross barre chord hurdle). I would just add: play the songs you love. As soon as I learned chords in the key G, I started learning the song, "Country Roads, Take Me Home" (with Fmaj7 version), which I first listened to over short-wave radio from Voice of America, forbidden at the time in China (taking about older learners, lol). I had tears in my eyes the first time I could play through the whole song. That's what keeps me going.
You're so welcome!

That's great! Check out my other videos for begginers th-cam.com/play/PL10FTzm-zsiKn_Ja0XQ5DkkVq9qHdGbQW.html
Rock on Mark! Sounds like you have a good plan. Go slow for sure. Glad you are enjoying your guitar journey and following this advice.
It’s almost like she’s talking directly to me. I quit years ago because of osteoarthritis in my left thumb. Thank you so much

You're so welcome. If the fretting hand truly gives you issue and you are a righty, you could always switch to lefty.
Lauren I am taking your 7 level Beginners Course and love it. I am 51 and have been a beginner for 20 years. Went through multiple you tubers till I found Lauren. Far and away the best.

Donna, so happy to help. Glad you are getting back into your guitar playing and happy to be part of your journey.
Hearing I should expect 12 months before I even sound (relatively, I know) decent really helps set expectations. I appreciate this so I don't get frustrated!
You're welcome. I always tell people, you gotta commit to the year.
Joseph I have not. Will look I to them. I have many students who aren't able to do barre chords because of their arthritis. Fmaj7 works fine for me!
over learning is over whelming. I'm guilty of that Lauren. You are so right. Need to do one step at a time.

"You say today's music is total crap"...MY SENTIMENTS EXACTLY!
Ha ha ha!!!
Frequency and repetition are actually more important than the amount of time. Those short sessions add up.
Lauren . . .
Aww thank you. I do have a course. Many of my students claim it's better than their in person lessons.

Hey Paul, thank you so much. That makes me so happy that you enjoy my videos 😊
I’m 79 and know theory inside and out. I can play all the pentatonic scales both major and minor. I know all the notes on my fretboard but just can’t seem to make my own music. I think you have convinced me to start all over. Thanks.

Your message of hope is a blessing, sweet lady
Thank you so much!
For me I was drawn to the blues and with that said...I have found the dominant 7 chords....A, D and E can be very fun along with a few enhancements...12 Bar Blues for me.. ;)
Let me say this, your patience is a gift from the Lord God.
Romans 10:9-10
9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;
10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.
Oh wow, thank you so much for the kind words. Yes I would like to think my skill for teaching is a gift from above

I love your videos!!! I am 70 years old and come from a musical family. I learned to play piano in school and learned how to play Autoharp during the Covid lockdown. I am now learning to play guitar via YT videos and am so happy I can across your channel....I've been doing he finger exercises and they do work. Thanks so much!!
Linda, glad you found me. Welcome to the channel!
At 65 it is no walk in the park. After two years I have developed a level of compatancy. The warm up is so important and keeping the practice short and manageable. Remember rewards will come!
Awesome!
Excellent tips for the mature players still trying to learn to play.
At 66 i am a classic example of a new player that has tried and failed many times to learn to play even the basic chords.
Age is cruel to your hands, your advice is most welcome.
Glad to help!
Yet. Peace, all. \m/
You got this!
Hi Lauren, I’m so happy to meet you here because I’m a 65 year old man and just begun to learn guitar! I love your lessons!!
Welcome aboard!
Amen Louis. Thanks for chiming in.
