i dont think they do all this fancy machinist magic, like taking measurements and machining anything in the Khyber pass.. :D File and handheld electric drill is about the limit of their tech... :P
wonder if i'd really have to remove the front trunnion from an already built ak if im wanting to retrofit a side folding stock.. trying to keep my labor to a minimum. should be able to measure, drill receiver, center punch, drill trunnion.
+callofgeorge It's been a while since I filmed this build... brings back fond memories. It is very easy to uninstall/reinstall an AK barrel if you have the tools (including headspace gauges) and press. That said, I see no reason off the top of my head why you can't drill the pivot pin hole in situ so long as you don't drill into the barrel. In other words, you will need to carefully measure and drill a stepped blind hole just deep enough for the pin to sit flush against the bottom of the receiver. The hardest part of this build is installing the spring that engages the latch.
+aleaddict yup, i've done a few scope mounts and etc that had to be certain depth in the barrel, so i've got some practice there.. i figured that spring it going to be a bish.. just ordered a Saiga. they have them on sale for $500 right now at TopGun supply. contemplating if i want to attempt side folder on that, or just turn a m92 pap into a side folder sbr. never cared for the UFs much.
Have you assembled this rifle yet? My question is have you had and problems with the latch working? I was wondering because I know the latch has to pivot back just a bit, that's why the shelf is flat on the AK-74 Trunnion. I noticed that the Trunnion on the AK-47 steps up closer to the hole. I have seen other builds where they have had to mill some relief on the shelf to either match the radius of the latch itself or mill some material off the shelf to match the shape of the AK-74 Trunnion. I am interested in doing this build myself with an M-92 Krinkov kit. Was wondering what you would suggest? Also how many thousanths did you have to take off for it to work or how many thousanths difference between the two Trunnions on the middle shelf? Any help will be greatly appreciated Thanks!!
Nice work, now how about the rest of the build, would love to see all your steps.
Hey Mel. Interesting video, just found it as I was gearing up to do this! You tube AI listens!
Good job dude ❤
I would love to see the rest.
Top 😊

Can you make a video on a build for a 80% receiver for a khyber build? .

Can I use a regular 74 trunnion for a 105 build doing this?

You really know what your doing with that mill. Are you a machinist or a millwright?
Didn't hear the dimensions of where to place the hole. If you're eyeing it, then why bother zeroing?
