    Tino rawe tō whakaako e hoa!!!.....excellent advice and guidance. I am currently completing level 4 and it is exactly as you describe. Some days I feel as if I am grasping the reo and on other days I feel as if I have learnt nothing. Thank you for your brilliant videos and encouragement!

    I think your idea for flash cards for phrases is brilliant. I know we all have to start somewhere but personally i hate just throwing a random maori word into an English sentence. I would prefer to learn the whole sentence!?!? I am from Australia and lived in NZ for 17 years, and I still think what everyone is doing to keep the indigenous language alive is amazing.

    So agree with you about the cards then on Quizlet. But yes need to korero without the words around me. Learn the kupu and put them in a sentence I can use daily.

      Kia Ora e hoa, I do apologise for the late reply. My bad. Scotty Morrison's Māori Made Easy books motivated me and have great step by step chapters to follow. Another book that I use is Te Wahapū by Ian Cormack. Easy to follow and big pages for simple people like me! There are plenty more and feel free to ask Māori 4 Grown Up's Facebook page - but thanks for your question and kia pai tō Rāhina, have a good Monday!

    Kia ora mo ena. Where can I get te reo cards koa?

    • @EmbracingTeReoMaori
      @EmbracingTeReoMaori  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Kia ora!! There are Reo cards online if you do a Google search for them however I found that these cards simply have one word and are aimed at children.
      That's why I made my own. It did take some time and effort however it allowed me to write full sentences down or Kiwaha etc. I haven't found any company or individual who is selling Te Reo flashcards which have full sentences on them.
      Ngā mihi e hoa and good luck!

    • @EmbracingTeReoMaori
      @EmbracingTeReoMaori  3 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Tēnā koe e hoa. I have been on a 5 day Noho Marae where I was fortunate enough to be exposed to some amazing older fluent speakers. Outside of this I have been reliant on the fluency of my Kaiako, but having more exposure to the Reo of the older generation would be a dream for me.

    Do you know what would be helpful, if when you said words that are not English, you either follow it up with the English or put subtitles in your video, because beginners have no idea what you are saying.
