He is chaotic as fuck we know that he is more than what he says he is and everything that says to dany are actions that leads to chaos. I dont think he is alone but i count him to be a part of the whole consept.

      Why not Moqorro? His origins are ambiguous enough to hide the immortal background, and in Lovecraft's works Nyarlathotep often takes on the form of a man whos skin is literally black, like Moqorro's.

    With all this talk of Nyarlothotep, I wonder why no one has made the connection to Euron as the personification of the Messenger of the Old Ones on earth. He is an agent of chaos, delights in torture and pain, and wants to become a god. He also made a deal with one of the Great Old Ones for power and knowledge. He laughs at the gods of mortals and mocks them, in Aeron's vision he is seen towering above all of them, while they are impaled on spikes, dead and defeated. But he is not himself anymore, but the drowned God/Cthulhu.
    Euron is no mere member of the Church of Starry Wisdom. Euron IS Nyarlothotep personified, the agent of the Great Old Ones, harbinger of a time where the Gods of Men will be cast down and the world remade in chaos, in the eternal cycle.

    I definitely get the impression that the world of ice and fire is in some sort of conflict between multiple supernatural entities. The likely conduits for them are the black oily stones (not sure if its the same/different as obsidian) and the weirwood trees.
    The Ironborn have their seastone chair, so they have likely been pawns of the dark god for some time. The preview chapter with Euron Greyjoy suggests that he is a likely candidate as host for otherworldly consciousness.
    The Ironborn were also the ones who built Harrenhal, which I believe will one day be home to the army of the dead. I mean, nothing else could possibly fully man it, and it IS said to be cursed. . . .
    but yeah, this ties nicely with that.

    • @stephaniemomma
      @stephaniemomma 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Supposedly, the oily stones that are randomly all over the place fell from the sky. & obsidian is terrestrial, @ volcanoes.

    I loooove the videos on the Lovecraft references in ASOIAF. It really enhances the understanding of George’s themes and view of the world, at least the one he’s created. I’m not saying you NEED to understand Lovecraft in order to understand the books, but knowing his works is again a great enhancement. Thanks again! These are great theory videos and have definitely inspired my own fantasy series (or two).

  • @devinschaftari3169

    Good Video! One of my favourite topics.
    Definitely a few places mentioned in WOIAF going very deep underground and mentions about people who travel in these tunnels/cave systems going mad. Leng, Lorath, House of the Undying, Bran's cave maybe Winterfell crypts all have potential to serve as entrances of tombs or prisons of some types of old gods, or lead to some R'lyeh type underworld maybe?

    It doesn't state one way or the other if the caves have been reopened. However, Leng rose up and separated from Yi Ti 400 years ago (Oh, roughly around the time of the doom). They set up a dynasty of god empresses of Lengii decent and she claims two male concubines.
    Again, that is not to imply anything was inaccurate. Just makes it a little spookier.

  • @SquishyEggo
    @SquishyEggo 7 ปีที่แล้ว +15

    To get you off your obsessive thought with Lovecraft influence in ASOIAF. It is most likely that living beneath the ruins are the Children of the forest. And influencing the rulers in the east just like in our story.

    • @lennysmileyface
      @lennysmileyface 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      because the influence is obvious. Do we even know if the CotF exist outside of Westeros?

    • @SquishyEggo

      Seems a bit forced on this channel. Not everything has to do with lovecraft, you know?

    • @SquishyEggo
      @SquishyEggo 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) We don't know anything. It's all speculation. Children could be down there, a government facility from the past, or balrog from lotr is down there. No one knows. I'm just getting kind of tired of every mystery on this channel being answered: IT'S LOVECRAFT

    • @lennysmileyface
      @lennysmileyface 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah I do get what you mean. Even though, this one has a lot more going for it. 'The Church of Starry Wisdom' is pretty much ripped right out of the Cthulhu Mythos.

    • @JerodimusPrime
      @JerodimusPrime 7 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      @Aaron Garcia
      If you've read any Lovecraft you will know that these are direct references to the Cthulhu mythos. It's not force but is clearly intentionally placed there by G.R.R Martin- who is a self confessed Lovecraft fan. Martin is simply paying tribute to one of his influences as a writer.
