Listen, this whole series is a ridiculous fantasy. I know everything there is to know about the SCP Foundation, and I can tell you with absolute certainty, and after a thorough review of my notes, that there is no Antimemetics Division.
Remember folks, never ask Marion how she got her last name... Stunning finale, I'm still so happy this miniseries exists at all and the fact that the execution was so good only elevates that feeling. Excellent work y'all!
you captured perfectly one of my favourite scenes. "you're alone against an immortal, unkllable idea" "ideas can be killed" "how?" "with better ideas" GOOSEBUMPS!
The ending here makes sense given what a beast the next part of the series would be to replicate in film. Instead of it being the wrong machine, Wheeler does manage to “win” in some capacity which is much happier than the actual ending. Loved this!
I just want to say that along with everything else this is a solid adaptation, in the sense that this story was not meant for film but you're doing a great job of choosing what to add/remove/rearrange/recontextualize to make it work in the medium. From what I've seen elsewhere I assume that can't be easy, a lot of tough choices that call for you to seriously understand what makes the original important to people. Also having a lead whose seemingly hitting so close to how people imagined the character helps the needed changes be accepted just a little bit easier. Bravo!
Yeah it was a nightmare, because the main villain is a concept more than a monster. A lot of the ideas and a lot of the story gets pushed forward by Marion (and then Adam) thinking process. Although 55555 it's easier to adapt action wise is just difficult on a visual level
@@AndreaJoshuaAsnicar Dude, honestly? I think you can pull it off. Tanya Schneider was consistently a great actor throughout all this, the directing, editing, props, location, all fantastic, I'd kill to see more of this
LOVE all the little nods to fifthism, the bomb's outer plated being pentagons, there being 5 people in the room when it was detonated, the mention of "probably five more" when counting antimemes in the first episode. Not catching them doesnt detract from the experience but noticing them is a lot of fun and shows the dedication behind the production. Incredible series!
@@centurionpan3400 Fifthism and the Fifthis church is an antagonistic faction in the SCP universe, which basically worships higher dimensional entities. Think cthulhu cultists, but for godlike SCPs like SCP 3125. Generally their aims are unscrutable but goals include summoning such entities into the physical world with the hope it makes things better or for power or suchlike. They're obsessed with the number 5. In particular, their symbol, a pentagram with tentacles coming out of each vertices, is reminiscent of a writhing octopus, which has some connections to how SCP 3125 is portrayed as a big tentacled thing. There's quite a few traces in the original "antimemetics division" story about Fifthism but nothing direct, but 5 is a very important reoccurring number in the series. For example, the SCP listing itself, 3125, is five to the power of five, or 5x5x5x5x5.
Amazing job all around! Massive props to Ms. Schneider for perfectly capturing Marion throughout. I hope you can one day get to the rest of the stories in the Antimemetics hub. Marion's story has a bit more to it--including two prequel stories--there are more memory twisting scps to meet (including guest appearances from another recurring villain: fifthism), an extinct species, an MK-Class End-of-Human-Consciousness Scenario, crazy biotech, and a classical violinist hellbent on destroying a deity. It is seriously one of the best serial stories to come out of the SCP foundation, and worth being adapted.
@@AndreaJoshuaAsnicarI just read about this Antimemetic Division. I can't remember all, but isn't she ends up being 'non-physically' exist in the end, can only exist as apparition or avatar like Darkside?
@@AndreaJoshuaAsnicar That's messed up. She's no longer a human, just consciousness. Shall you proceed the continuation, we might not see Tanya Schneider as MC again, possibly as cameo. I think, in many many short films I have seen, Tanya is one of the best actress I've ever seen. Not only she delivers the dialogue and manifest her emotion well, she also looks like she truly devoted with this project. I was being recommended with her acting reels after watching your previous shorts, and I was like, "Wow, she went from being typical housewife and white-collar woman, to this kind of arching Sci-Fi"
If TINAmD was animated, I would’ve imagined the Mnestic Overdose to show semi-transparent images of worms & shadowy monsters flickering in & out of the scene to show (visually) that Marion (& the viewers) was seeing things that always existed but could never be perceived. You did a great job substituting that by having the Mnestic Overdose be Marion replaying her memories over & over again (like the deja vu visual cues from previous episodes) with the added effect that the memories are looping too rapidly & too erratically, perfectly illustrating (audially) how her mind is racing as a result of her memories being overstimulated by the overdose. Great job! A perfect example of using a medium (in this case, audio & visual editing) to its strengths in order to adapt something that can’t easily be translated from a different medium (ie text/imagination) !
Not gonna lie I paused the these last two episodes atleast 15 times furiously drinking beer and thinking of abstract pataphisical containment concepts to contain and dismantle a thought to its conceptual level. Then the line came clear as a bell “you’ve had it all this time”. Brilliant!! Had me furiously talking to myself over a concept that was already solved but by its nature in a constant limbo.
Thank you for making this! This series is by far my favorite SCP story and you have done it every bit of justice. It's one hell of a story to try to adapt from writing where we can understand the character's thoughts, but you nailed it - editing details where necessary to tell the story or for budget constraints, but keeping the most important bits. The environment here is dead on - I'm surprised you were ever able to shoot film in such an industrial location. The acting was superb, camerawork was superb, editing was superb. It's a masterclass in adapting difficult media.
Hell of a first day. Alas poor Marion, at least there's a canon out there where she gets some proper vindication instead of only putting the snooze button on scp-3125 Kudos on adapting this part in particular, while it's probably impossible to fully convey certain aspects of this story outside of mediums that allow you to hear internal monologues (like how z-mnestics make it impossible to forget even what you would normally filter out), I feel like someone whose only experience with TiNAD is this series would still for the most part get the complete experience.
I would love to have seen the part where she starts noticing small worms swarming the entirety of the lift - being a species of anti-memetic organisms so successful that every single square inch of the planet is covered in them, even the foundation sites. Thankfully, they are completely harmless, if a bit gross and the fact that thousands are crawling all over you and your chair right now.
As someone who had no idea this existed and hour and forty ago I gotta say I barely understand but enjoyed it. I get she wiped reality of their existence but the nuance of the process on how she got there was just about lost on me until I spent and extra ten minutes per episode aggressively sifting through comments for missed context. This last episode in particular was the most frustrating to get because every high rated comment is joking about forgetting. All-in-all I still enjoyed and your estimate has 60% accuracy. Pretty much on point.
I doubt this series will go beyond Your Last First Day, but this is still a fantastic adaptation of the story! I am loving every episode. I hope somewhere in the future you get the chance to adapt 55555, those stories are my favourite of the bunch.
I would love to see what you guys would do with 55555, but I completely understand wanting to tackle something different. (Plus with how much of an absolute mindfuck the second half of this series is, I feel like it would be almost impossible to pull off a full adaptation even on a full Hollywood budget.)
@@AndreaJoshuaAsnicar I don't blame you one bit. "This isn't happening Paul. You and I never existed. There *is* no antimemetics division." Stunning. Sends shivers down my spine when I even think about it.
This is one of the best SCP material on TH-cam. I really enjoyed how we get to see the "inside" of a site - complete with all the standard office-building layout, but properly branded as a believable Site interior.
I find it very depressing and sadly fitting that this is how it ends. It was just like El said in episode 2, there is no beating or containing SCP-3125. The whole division is stuck in a loop, erasing their memories, and doing whatever they can to buy time. An enemy that you can only stall at best, but never get rid of entirely. This series was such a wonderful creation and kudos to you and everyone who worked on it.
I like this ending better than the written version. It's more thematic. I was expecting a shot at the end, where Marion is old and grey. Paul is sitting next to her with a needle and says, "Marion, remember me?"
Over already. It's too bad. There were some interesting ideas introduced in the first episode that didn't get a chance to be used after that. Her, having a memory eating monster on the inside, didn't get a chance to really come up again.
It does matter a bit in the book but in a far more subtle way. It's needed for the plan at the end, but it is ironicly forgotten but still effects things.
Imagine how wild it would be if there was an antimemetics division! Think of all the things you wouldn’t be able to think of. Of course there isn’t one, there’s never been an antimemetics division; at least, that’s what they told me on my first day, I think. Seriously great series though!! And to anyone watching this without knowledge of the original story: This is not the end of the story, there is a sequel series called 55555 for anyone to read if they want to figure out what happens after marion hydrogen bombs herself to delay 3125.
Okay, now we're fucking talking. Holy shit I love what you did here this one (and the finale is fantastic! Give our proprs to all the actors involved. They knocked it out of the park.
Tanya is amazing
I still love that you managed to cast O5-8 exactly like he's described in the story: "An O5 never looks like you imagine."
He's clearly unusual and high in status, but indeed-I wouldn't have ever imagined one looking like that.
ha! Thank you!
I always think of the O5s as never revealing their face, so I was a bit surprised for Marion to be able to have a face to face talk with an O5 and walk away without being dosed with amnestics.
@@TheFunnyHatGuy thing is, I don't think they ever really leave the Foundation grounds. their house is just upgraded into a fortress and they always have bodyguards, so who cares if you know what their face looks like? or maybe I'm wrong, this is just what I've picked up.
@@solarisNT-v4jeh, it depends on the story, I think. Marion is so high up in the hierarchy that I think she would meet them face to face, but I don’t imagine anyone else in her division ever would

The greatest part about an antimemetic series is that you can always enjoy it like its the first time. Great stuff!!
Agreed! Thank you so much for being part of this journey with us!
How did you fight an ancient, omnipresent, lovecraftian evil?
Marion: drugs
overdosing to be specific
@@jqkurtz Fun fact in the og story its not actually death by overdose *technically*. The thing she took chemically removed her ability to forget *anything.* Which is like complete oversensory to a factor of 10, and is thoroughly fatal to the human brain.

mnestic pills!
We don't have antimemetics division

Thank you so much for being on this wild ride with us!
you captured perfectly one of my favourite scenes.
"you're alone against an immortal, unkllable idea"
"ideas can be killed"
"how?"
"with better ideas"
GOOSEBUMPS!
thank you! That was an amazing line in the book!
The ending here makes sense given what a beast the next part of the series would be to replicate in film. Instead of it being the wrong machine, Wheeler does manage to “win” in some capacity which is much happier than the actual ending. Loved this!
This is how the series ended originally, it was the wrong machine, Adam finds the right one
I can’t wait to forget this episode
😂😂😂😂
Maybe not immediately, maybe it'll take some time for technology to continue progressing; maybe you'll even pull off the breakthrough for it. Maybe you just need the concept to percolate in your brain for a bit. But after watching this? Yeah, you got dis.
I know it's nonsensical, but I always get so excited when I see someone who got started on TH-cam making S+ content on TH-cam.

I just got an amazing idea - What if you made a series on There Is No Antimemetics Division? I don’t think anyone’s made one before...
😂😂😂
LOVE all the little nods to fifthism, the bomb's outer plated being pentagons, there being 5 people in the room when it was detonated, the mention of "probably five more" when counting antimemes in the first episode. Not catching them doesnt detract from the experience but noticing them is a lot of fun and shows the dedication behind the production. Incredible series!
What’s fifthism? Worship of 5?
@@225Reaver wow that’s intriguing
Amazing job all around! Massive props to Ms. Schneider for perfectly capturing Marion throughout.
I hope you can one day get to the rest of the stories in the Antimemetics hub. Marion's story has a bit more to it--including two prequel stories--there are more memory twisting scps to meet (including guest appearances from another recurring villain: fifthism), an extinct species, an MK-Class End-of-Human-Consciousness Scenario, crazy biotech, and a classical violinist hellbent on destroying a deity. It is seriously one of the best serial stories to come out of the SCP foundation, and worth being adapted.
the book is amazing. We're thinking about and we're coming up with a plan but it's a big maybe
@@AndreaJoshuaAsnicarI just read about this Antimemetic Division. I can't remember all, but isn't she ends up being 'non-physically' exist in the end, can only exist as apparition or avatar like Darkside?
she goes to the noosphere and the she (SPOILER ALERT) becomes Wild Light to kill SCP-3125
Thank you so much! There were things we couldn't do visually that were out of out budget, but I think it worked here!
Can’t wait for the finale. This has been wonderful to watch. Thank you for taking the time, effort, and energy to give it a proper adaptation!

Last night I had a dream that this premiered and was 5 hours long. My dream self was so excited to sit down and watch through it all 😂
Was it a dream or a memory erased by some antimemetic anomaly? We'll never know.

Thank you so much for your kind words. That location was a waste treatment plan, it was great to film into it
Hell of a first day. Alas poor Marion, at least there's a canon out there where she gets some proper vindication instead of only putting the snooze button on scp-3125
Kudos on adapting this part in particular, while it's probably impossible to fully convey certain aspects of this story outside of mediums that allow you to hear internal monologues (like how z-mnestics make it impossible to forget even what you would normally filter out), I feel like someone whose only experience with TiNAD is this series would still for the most part get the complete experience.
We had to do a bunch of monologue or it would have been 10 min of her frowning hard! It was hard to translate the book but we did our best!
Well, she does in the end... kind of.
We are not making anything from 55555 yet. Thinking about it though
@@AndreaJoshuaAsnicar yaaaaay
I would love to see what you guys would do with 55555, but I completely understand wanting to tackle something different. (Plus with how much of an absolute mindfuck the second half of this series is, I feel like it would be almost impossible to pull off a full adaptation even on a full Hollywood budget.)
@@AndreaJoshuaAsnicar I don't blame you one bit. Although I'd love to see you adapt 55555, that's going to be a much more ridiculous production (although if you open crowdfunding I'd love to contribute.)

@@AndreaJoshuaAsnicar I won't blame you if you don't. Five Five Five Five Five is so much weirder and nonlinear that it might just not translate to the screen.

This series was such a wonderful creation and kudos to you and everyone who worked on it.
it' terrifying as well!
Thank you so much for being part of this journey with us! More SCP stories are coming.
I like this ending better than the written version. It's more thematic. I was expecting a shot at the end, where Marion is old and grey. Paul is sitting next to her with a needle and says, "Marion, remember me?"
hahahah that would have been cool
Over already. It's too bad. There were some interesting ideas introduced in the first episode that didn't get a chance to be used after that. Her, having a memory eating monster on the inside, didn't get a chance to really come up again.
Because it doesn't really, that happens more in 55555! but thank you!
It’s not a huge factor in the book, it’s important for a chapter, and then it’s gone
Antimemes are my favorite thing in the SCP universe as I love things that mess with memory. This has been one of my absolute favorite things to watch. It’s fantastically directed and acted as well. Truly made something beautiful here. Great job!!
