Oh God there are so many ways they could troll us with this series. Like they could have privated Ep 2, and then released Ep 3 "before" Ep 2, and then silently unprivated Ep 2 to make it seem like we all had forgotten about it. Cliffhangers are the least of our worries.
One of later tales states, that "victims" of 3125 are still human by all means, yet can be immediately recognized as not being such. I think you nailed it
Yeah, it's a complex concept to translate but i liked the idea of an empty shell, a puppet filled with hate for humanity, but still pretending to be somehow..human.
i feel like a decent way to illustrate that could be that those who "die" face towards you like they're trying to make eye contact, but they physically can't look at your face i'd assume 3125 would be practically controlling everyone, so for it to look at itself billions of times at once would be odd
I don’t think that fits the statement. It’s not as obvious as zombie like or robotic behavior. I think it is a kin to something like the uncanny valley where something is immediately off as not being human, even though all the parts are there. Something being more away from a human would be more like a comfortable and distinct thing to us than the highly controlled state they’re in. I think something like this might be hard to actualize, but if reality is clearly altered with coincidences of things a person could’ve done but rarely and all of them together becomes a clear bias with an ulterior motive would be better, like this: th-cam.com/video/AW7WhX92eWk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=pHpmtUbiwHV0a4u-
Well, you know how it is. The missile knows where it is at all times. It knows this because it knows where it isn't, by subtracting where it is, from where it isn't, or where it isn't, from where it is, whichever is greater, it obtains a difference, or deviation. The guidance sub-system uses deviations to generate corrective commands to drive the missile from a position where it is, to a position where it isn't, and arriving at a position where it wasn't, it now is. Consequently, the position where it is, is now the position that it wasn't, and it follows that the position where it was, is now the position that it isn't. Subsequently, making use of such principles, it is quite possible to contaminate SCP-3... oh give me a moment, someone's knocking on my windows.. on my 25th floor apartment
Just to clarify, you don't "see" SCP 3125. The moment you gain enough knowledge to know what SCP 3125 is, it detects you and erases you from all knowledge. It becomes you and you also never existed in the first place, and nobody remembers you, all information written down or recorded about you is incapable of being absorbed into human thought. You basically change to become more like SCP 3125, but it's so inhuman, you die in the process. Once sufficient enough knowledge of SCP 3125 enters our reality, it will become more reality than our own reality. It'll overwrite everything, even the very idea of "humanity", which might as well be the same thing as destroying it, and the entire universe.
@@cewla3348 Dunno why you're freaking out, I haven't done anything to describe SCP 3125, not really. Only people trained in anti-memetics can really understand the implications enough to be targeted. It's the difference between looking at an Elder Scroll and not really caring and putting it back down, and looking at an Elder Scroll, and it turns you into a severe schizophrenic and blind you. It depends on how much you know when you're exposed, and nothing I've commented is specific enough to "trigger" being affected by SCP 3125.
Textual media has a far greater ability to do info dumps than visual media its true some sacrifices have to be made but the description of the end of the world scenario - descriped in the 3125 entry (its not in the case colourless green tale) will be sadly missed by me. *""SCP-3125 is adapted for survival in an ideatic ecology considerably more violent and hostile than our own. (Here, "our own" refers to human head space: the set of all ideas which humans have or are biologically capable of having.) Because humans have no natural exposure to ideas as aggressive as SCP-3125, human minds have no protective evolutionary adaptations against it. Individuals possessed of SCP-3125 become incapable of entertaining weaker, "conventional" ideas, and become instead wholly bodily subordinate to the purpose of serving and disseminating the core concepts of SCP-3125. In addition, although undergoing no outwardly visible physical alteration, they cease to be externally recognisable as human. SCP-3125 is not yet entirely present in our reality. Upon its arrival, the highly interconnected nature of human knowledge exchange systems means that it will take no longer than twelve hours, possibly as few as four hours, to encompass, dominate and replace all human thought. At this point, "humanity" as an abstract concept, along with all attendant abstracts such as "civilization", "culture", "society", "community" and "family" will have ceased to exist. The Foundation terms such an eventuality an MK-class end-of-world scenario.""*
I love the implication that the signs of SCP 3125 have been there the whole time, specifically in the way we see things repeating themselves. That might not be quite the right idea but it feels like that's the decay, the slowly increasing symptoms of a disease slipping into reality as SCP 3125 makes people forget it's there. (as opposed to it being the side effect of all antimemetics) As a result, normal and mundane things repeat to fill the gaps as you catch sight of it. Super super cool to look at the previous episodes with that thought in mind, like everyone is in the way of a speeding car but there is no horn and no lights, just the reflection off the signpost behind them.
Thousands of people have probably already died in a division that has only ever had a few dozen people. It's been wittling them away. She realized, since the SCP's plan was almost complete, her plan must also be almost complete, and that she must have left herself a loophole in the containment procedures. Brilliant.
@@AndreaJoshuaAsnicar My best friend and former roommate is a film editor out in LA, but while we lived together he was making independent films. Of course, that meant I was doing all kinds of things to help on and off set, including sitting in on casting call for a script I wrote myself. (The whole thing fell apart because it turns out putting a complete novice in charge is a bad idea.) I bring this all up because I know finding the perfect actor is easy; getting them to actually join the project is another task altogether! You have to sell the story and the role, negotiate compensation, coordinate schedules, etc. You know all of this, I'm just spelling it out for the peanut gallery. So again, major props for the casting work. It might have seemed easy to you, but your choice for Marion has really raised the entire project to another level.
@@andrewjuby6339 nice work man! I think it's still hard. For whatever reason, finding Tanya Schnyder was actually easier than finding the lead of the next SCP project we have done. I think she came through a recommendation but I was like: YES THAT'S HER. With this casting, we had a very narrow set of parameters because Marion should look a certain way, so you cut out most actors. I don't know. Took us less time to cast her but the real hard job was building the rest of the project.
I can’t wait!!! We SCP fans are eating GOOD and it’s all thanks to you chef! The actress and actors are PHENOMENAL choices for their roles!!! I can see where the budget cuts came in but ehhhhh who really cares. Happening on a farm instead of a lake is a great “compromise”. Who cares that it isn’t set specifically on a lake. I would like to think all of us long time fans of the SCP series are more than willing to look over a few minor details when it comes to getting a production like this!!! I can’t get over how STELLAR the quality of all this is and I’m so thankful for you and everyone else who made this happen!!! I had thought for a long time we would never get something like this but here we are!! You and the crew did such a GREAT job here!!!!
maybe I'm stupid, but it may be because no coherent info is allowed in or out of the place? by having a ring it implies she has some connection with someone in some way, which is technically coherent info
Colorless Green came directly from my brain, love how you depicted this chapter. All the beats are in place: nonchalant start, then the cluttered room; two Marions, so different in their approach and feelings. I don't know if this chapter is more horror or tragedy - you can feel Marion's despair and how actually desperation is unnatural to her. Tanya Schneider is our Marion, love, love, love her portrayal, can't imagine the series without her face now. And the whole team made a great job of depiction the horror of that chapter - being in one place safe from your enemy, but being forced to face it almost immediately. In my dreams you get the buget to do whole shebang about the Red, because you'd totally nail it. Thanks to everybody bringing this chapter to film!
Man, thank you so much for your kind words. The source material was amazing and we put as much effort as we could in creating something that we could be proud of!
Ah man, it is *not* super often that I watch an episode of a series and *actually* say "wait no I want more!" I've never read There is no Antimemetics Division, so I have no idea what's coming, what I *can* say without any question is that Tanya and Liam are absolutely KILLING it in their roles here. Can't wait to see what comes next.
It's Cognitohazard Containment Unit 3125! The only inverted containment room! :) About five years back, I once did some thought on recreating that room, for a larp game. To be the setting in a one-shot larp (live action roleplaying game) similar to Call of Cthulhu. Roughly based on the Cthulhu Live 3rd edition rules. The pandemic stopped me working on that idea. But now I'm excited to see it done here!
@@calebh8452 , for Mnestics, for "remembering," the character "remembers" through the simple mechanic of the game managers telling the players the new information or giving it to them in writing. But for Amnestics, for "forgetting", that's harder. We use a card deck, like a deck of 3x5s. Each card represents a unique and irreplaceable part of the "character sheet." Attributes (like Intelligence), skills (like firearms use), talents (like cuteness or persuasiveness), connections (like bureaucratic knowledge), and key memories (like plot-critical computer system passwords, knowledge of SCPs) are all represented by a card. When the amnestic drugs kick in (or other events which cause forgetfulness), then the game managers take away specified cards from the player. Or specific cards. While the player may remember the gist of detailed cards, the character does not. And the game managers require specific cards at plot-critical locations and in certain events. If the player doesn't have that card, then the character does not know "it" (whatever "it" is) and cannot proceed or take a certain action. Beyond all this, we are just relying on players to roleplay the amnestic effects. Just like acting. :)
Didnt Douglas Adam havesomethign similar in one of his HItchhiker books, the inside of the house was outside of the asylum. Seems to be the inspiration.
One wonderful detail here is the focus on the recorded Marion's wedding ring. I know a greater reference to Adam would only be a distraction in so short a series, but for those who came from the tales, it's a great nod. Edit: I had to go rewatch this again just to soak in all the wonderful details. From the acting to the special effects to how claustrophobic the inverted containment room feels, it's all simply superb.
we need to get these guys more funds bruh Hollywood level budget, SCP itself is so big it has potential to have multiple shows with multiple seasons and all be in the same cinematic universe
I feel the main issue with a mainstream SCP based movie or shows would be in violation of the creative commons liscence actively gaining money from the SCP IP Just a whole lot of issues mainstream media doesnt want to deal with quite saddening
@@zabianreubens4989 You have the potential to profit from it, yet the same opportunity is available to everyone. Take my series, for instance-it draws inspiration from qntm's book. Although I sought his permission, the reality is, under the cc3.0 license, I wasn’t obligated to. This presents a dilemma for major studios; they're hesitant to invest in properties they cannot exclusively control.
I like how watching Marion giving exposition and monologue is absolutely NOT boring at all! QNTM did an amazing job writing this back then, and the actress did an amazing job portraying her. Also it's great that ep2 can be skipped without ruining the continuity and experience!
Yeah, this is a great Marion! Episode 2 does introduce the concept of the amnestic warhead, which we'll need next chapter. It also gives us our first introduction in how 3125 can be delayed, which we actually don't see here. But yes, that's very fitting isn't it? XD
I really, really love how these episodes have been progressively building up how all-encompassing and existentially horrifying memetics and anti-memetics as a concept are. From a predatory anomaly that makes it so the rest of the world can't perceive it, to one that kills you just by remembering it or knowing about it, to finally one that pervades the entirety of existence itself.
Man this shit could be a full ass TV series with the quality of production and the sheer amount of potential source material, and you are just putting it up on youtube for free. I am so glad you have. Not only is it just, great to see amazing art put out on youtube, but it is also in the spirit of SCP as a whole. Just a community of artists, putting out free shit for all to see set within an interesting universe. I do hope that this gets you noticed. I would fucking love to see you able to put more time and money into bigger and better productions, more ambitious projects.
Totally agree. I just came out of watching all of "3-body problem" and clicked on this by chance. Went into it expecting it to maybe start well but falter- but its terrific. I LOVE Tanya. She really holds this down. It never drops the ball. The sound and cinematography are very reassuringly competent for something that- may have been made on a will and a prayer? So good
I remember when a scp gmod machinima would impress everyone and now we have scp fans cooking up stories better than 90% of hollywood this series made me sub and i plan to stay here not only for scp but for also future projects ❤
I especially noticed the music in this one, really incredible composition and timing of the soundtrack with the events! In terms of acting, absolutely wowed by Paul's shift in body language that got me to notice something was off before he even said a word in the new tone And of course Marion's actress is perfect as always, I am so impressed with the range of emotions she portrayed as she played both present-day Marion and the one in the TV
From what I can see of the thumbnail it looks like this episode will cover case colourless green, which is my favorite tale in the whole antimemetics division series. Looking forwards to this one!
I'm just a huge fan of the subtitles. Just by having good, functioning subtitles that are chopped up well, you've earned your films a special place in my heart.
@@AndreaJoshuaAsnicar If you need a translator for the Turkish version I can do it if you want :p Not sure how we can go about it but I can translate it at least
Much respect for a tricky adaptation! The two Marions scene is a highlight of the series so far IMO. I have to say that, for me, this story works best as subtle psychological horror, and something is lost in representing 3125's victims as overtly "possessed". My headcanon is that the cues are easy to miss and the "wrongness" creeps up on you, rather than telegraphing "OI THERE'S A MONSTER HERE" with the usual tropes. That also makes the story more effective as a real-world allegory (cults etc). I appreciate that you've made a creative choice here, and you've acknowledged in other comments that it was a tricky balance to find. Anyway, I still LOVE that this series is happening and am definitely along for the ride.
Yeah, it's very a subtle concept but in the book is not a very subtle representation. Especially in 55555 they become very violent, very quickly. I imagined them as empty meat puppets filled with a humanity-hating concept that still needs to pretend to be human.
I keep seeing the term 5 dimensional meme or similar, but what are these 5 dimensions supposed to be? I would guess 3 for space, maybe 1 for time(?) and maybe one for some "idea" dimension, but is that at all accurate? I couldn't find any references
@@soupy58903125 is either from, or is the god of (still not clear on it myself), the Fifth Dimension. It’s meant to be a higher plane where it’s basically just ideatic space; that is, sentient ideas live up there and actively interact with/consume each other. 3125 coming down to standard 3-dimensional space from there has a few consequences: 1. You can’t perceive 3125 unless it’s pointed out to you, and even then you aren’t actually *seeing* it, since it’s everywhere in baseline reality. What Marion saw in this was it’s 5-D structure translated to something a human can barely interpret. 2. Human minds have zero defense mechanisms for 3125, since all of its offensive methods are built around facing off against other hostile, living memes and antimemes. We aren’t built for handling even non-sapient ones, making us incredibly easy prey. That’s why it’s so dangerous in this series; as we saw with Kim (the male researcher here), it can rewrite people with less than an instant of effort. Hope this helps explain it a bit, along with some of the surrounding details. Happy to help explain other parts of it if you need it.
@@soupy5890I think in this concept it’s actually another two dimensions of space beyond the ones we can experience. Essentially, to a 4-D being, we would look as “flat” as a 2-D one would to us. They could observe us, move us, whatever, and we wouldn’t be able to perceive them if they existed outside of our normal “flat” plane of regular reality. Then a 5-D being would be the same, but would even see the 4-D being as “flat.” To them, our existence would seem incredibly limited, like a single line of space.
@@soupy5890 so dimensions in mathematics and physics, as i understand it, are (at their simplest) equivalent to the axes on a graph, theyre measurable values a thing can have, so something zero dimentional is a point, it cant have any variables beyond simply existing/being defined, something one dimentional could be a point or a line segment, and could 'move' through that dimension. a scroll bar for a browser could be considered one dimensional. two dimensional objects are like a square or your mouse cursor. we've been ignoring time so far for the sake of simplicity here but we can address it now that we've got two dimensions. Time is a dimension, just like the spacial dimensions we've discussed so far, you could draw a time-line with only one dimension, just like the youtube video timeline, it goes at one speed in one direction under normal circumstances because thats how time normally works for us, but if we were obeying different rules (like you, watching the video) time could just be like any other dimension you could travel through and observe freely. ive realised this post is waay harder to finish than i hoped, so i'll leave what ive written so far and take a different approach 5d memes as a concept come from the meme of calling a plan or idea "playing 5d chess", the idea being its a concept outside the bounds of our normal 4d world.
Tanya is such a great actress. This is the first time I've seen her in something. I wouldn't want her to get typecast, but at the same time, I really hope Mike Flanagan discovers her and finds a role for her in one of his upcoming projects. His multiple Netflix series are some of the best horror I've ever seen and I really believe her talent could shine with his script and direction.
honestly, the idea that your job is to make sure no one should ever know the knowledge you've forgotten about is terrifying. By just looking at the SCP-2521 file there is this feeling that maybe you shouldn't be even trying to think what the symbols mean. Just merely thinking about SCP-2521 you're putting yourself in danger. Which is why I won't describe what I've seen on the SCP site.
@@ultrio325 oh y'know, the one that your not supposed to talk abou-OH GOD HELP ME *[gets hugged]* (Personally, I am quite partial to 2521's other name: .. I ..... I .. I . )
Genuinely, the acting is superb. Marion facing her defeated past self, her assistant being drained of the concepts that made him a living human, all of it was masterful. I also like the way the repeated shot was done in this episode. Previously, it felt jarringly repetitive. This time, however, there's this perfectly conveyed feeling of deja vu that fits the visual medium. Genuinely so proud of you guys, I'm impressed and thankful.
@@AndreaJoshuaAsnicar the censored entry would be a fun challenge. The full version is available on qntm's website somewhere if you haven't read it yet, might let you fill in some blanks, although maybe the ignorance is better.
I think removing the lines about Adam and the various nonsense words loses something, but I suppose it's one of those sacrifices you have to make if you're not adapting the 2nd half of the series.
I wonder if we will at least get to see some MTF ω-0 helping Marrion on the run. They also made quite a point to show off Marrion's ring in the recording sooo :) am looking to at least seeing him mentioned in some capacity.
The more I look at that and episode 2, the more horrifying it becomes. We have no idea how much time had passed before the two iterations of Marion in that chamber. Like, it literally could be 50 or 1 cycle before the current one when she recorded that message to herself. And what also hammers the dread in, is that we have no clue how much time had passed between that and the second episode of TINAD. It would seem like she became the host of 3125 after El, and does not know it, and if she remembers that fact, she will meet the same fate as he did. Not only that, but if ANYONE figures out the reason she was found where she was found in condition that she was found in, she is dead, and whoever figures it out, gets to be the next transmitter. So the idea was that they had to build the third Antimemetic bomb without knowing why, where, when, and how, FORGET ABOUT IT, then to contaminate Marion with 3125, so that it is brought into the Facility, and then, without getting to the point of enough knowledge of it, to figure out that you have the weapon to kill it by forgetting forever, and to actually manage to do it before it gets enough info about you to kill you. It's like a cat and mouse game, but all participants are blinded at the start, and the more you probe your surroundings, the more your opposition does, and the more chance becomes that it "shakes your hand", and when that happens, the game is over.
I really hope that this series will get millions of views and recognition throughout all the SCP Foundation community. Sometimes it even looks like a proper official movie with a big budget, and I am really thankful for all the effort you all put into your project
Episode 1 was impressive, but _this_ is a whole other level. Marion's actor did a phenomenal job, and the uncanny acting from the infected people is incredibly on point! My only small complaint would be that this adaptation cuts out the explanation of _why_ Marion in the recording was so much more defeatist than she is in the present, which is one of the most poignant scenes in the first half of the original tale series, but I'll reserve judgment on that front until after Episode 4.
Aaaah the cliffhanger!! Brilliant, the inside of the containment unit looks great. Thanks (again... and again... and again...) for making this and sharing it with us here!
Every episode has done a repeat shot at least once. Episode one the “new guys” food shifted twice, episode two the old director threw the same stone in the water, episode one the “new guys” food shifted twice. And a think a few more repeats happened but those are the one that stood out for me
@@terriblej6107 Was the "episode one the "new guys" food shifted twice" being repeated intentional (a joke about the deja vu), or was one of those supposed to be the coffee from this episode?
It just showed up it my feed and I was like "It us already out!!!" I don't care it is another 20 hours until premiere. I am just happy it will show up. I never, NEVER, had this kind of anticipation and engagement with ANYTHING on youtube before. Thank you!
Currently reading the book and the attentrion to detail and quotes verbatim from the book has me appreciating this so much. Love the acting and the indie vibe, especially the slight changes in episode 2. I can't wait to keep up with this series, it's such an amazing story SO FAR (only halfway through the book)
This is probably my favorite episode so far. You finally managed to perfectly capture the sheer horror of trying to fight against something you can't remember. Though, again, it fails a bit in explaining all the information such as why Marion didn't get affected when she got out of the chamber or why she was so different on the recording. On the other hand (lol) I am very impressed with the attention to details like the ring Marion's wearing.
Well, that should have come through by her holding her breath and the automated voice saying "memory decontamination process in 3..2..1". I can't really get Marion to say it! Tried to show, not tell!
@@alansmithee419to be fair I think in the book that isn’t quite explained either until the follow-up and is just kind of a something doesn’t feel right but you absolutely do not have the time to consider why scenario which imo really adds to the atmosphere, and I appreciated seeing here!
Yeah, the book doesn't explain this one. I think that later in the next tale in the book, Marion mentions that she can feel 3125 pressing into her skull as well, but she can hold out longer. It might come down to training, experience, knowledge of how 3125 works, or maybe just Marion's personality is that much more of a paragon versus 3125's hatred that she can resist longer.
@@CrazyFarseer I don't know if it's broadly canon, but "Find us alive" mentions a sort of memetic rating system for determining what types of memetic effects different people are responsive to. The main characters are all labelled 14b which prevents them from being affected by one of the main anomalies at their site. Maybe she's just immune to certain effects of 3125 which make her more resistant to its overall influence.
After three episodes and this series making me a antimemtics division fan, I have to say these two actors are forever the look and voice of these characters
I guess it makes sense that they cut Adam out of the picture so they wouldn't have to include 55555, but I feel like it would be neat if they included the mention of Adam and then pointed the viewers to the source material if they wanted to find out about him.
How do you build such a device, or fight such a problem? Heavy compartmentalize all parts and information. Have you ever seen the movie cube? You have those with in (or during time with in) act as overall coordinator for the project. They then have to send out individual requests, in a non sequential order, writing instructions on your arm before leaving. Any one contracted to do any part of this work can never be used again (ideally, amnestics are used regardless). If you don't have access to amnestics, or to improve effectiveness of compartmentalizing, take note from religious cults; have various arbitrary tasks required among the actual necessary tasks. Requiring blind algorithmic like work, that with out thinking will lead to a result when putting those parts together. This goes for actual construction, the work needs to be building and disassembling at all times with the final product actually being finished, in between those states with more "work" slated to be done
The "why are you like that? You're stronger than that!" reminded me that Antimemetic story is not only the best SCP, the best mystery novel, one of the best sci-fi I've ever read, but also a GREAT romance story. There's no place for it here, so it's unknown "why is she like that", buuuuuut.... "Adam Wheeler, an interloper" :,-(
Excited! My only note is I wish the way she deduced the container age was kept (she recognized the architectural design of Burt something ) Additionally, I wanna note that in the story, SCP3125 didn't take over Paul until after he made the realization she may not have properly followed the amnestic protocol, as quoted "then they replaced him" I could be wrong though, feel free to correct/discuss. I love talking about this hehe
I know not every line from the text can be included or it would take too long but disappointed the lines about Wheeler and her team being the only ones left was not included. "Every competent antimemetics research project finds SCP-3125's fingerprints sooner or later. ... " "Seven years ago there were more than four hundred antimemetics research groups worldwide. Government agencies, military branches, private corporations, university projects. Many of them were GOIs or subdivisions of GOIs. We were allied with most of them. We were at the spearhead of an Antimemetics Coalition which spanned the whole globe and thousands upon thousands of people. None of those groups still exist. The last one ceased to exist some time in the last seventy-two hours. "Three years ago, Foundation Antimemetics was an organisation of more than four thousand people. Now it's ninety.
and on the 3125 entry there is a similar description. ""Much data has been accrued in this containment unit over the course of successive visits by Foundation researchers. This data was brought from the outside in the hope of being useful and left here in accordance with containment procedures. In addition to this database entry, the reader will find multiple electronic copies of the Foundation database, academic data sets of all kinds and extensive public news archives. ...."" ""Memetics research is, today, a much-diminished science from when it was at its peak. In mid-2008 there existed more than 400 institutions pursuing research likely to uncover SCP-3125, including government agencies, military branches, private corporations, independent laboratories, university research projects and notable amateur groups. Many of these were GOIs or internal divisions within GOIs. None of these groups still exist, except for the Foundation's Antimemetics Division."" ""Almost nobody in the world is consciously aware of this decline, and explanations for the disappearance of these groups have not been forthcoming."" ""Simple deduction gives that all of these groups eventually discovered SCP-3125 and were consumed by it, and that this is, in fact, the inevitable fate of all competent memetics research.""
@@AndreaJoshuaAsnicar very true textual based media has a much easier time with boat loads of information and the scp fiction is very high concept. It's hard work and I still love your work!
my favorite part about the S.C.P. fandom, is that we are all out of the box thinkers. most people would take one look at the S.C.P.'s, and go "what's an S.C.P.?" and we would go: "oops, you weren't supposed to hear that. hey, take this pill real quick."
One thing im most excited about if it will be here is the z-class mnestics, otherwise know as the drug that destroys the mind's ability to forget. Every day your brain deletes countless little and insignificant thoughts, memories, feelings and data from the 5 sences that if you lose that ability suddenly, the amount of information would surely make you insane.
Even though I'm not into the stories of SCP, I can tell this is a really god ep. just because this 10 min video started feeling like a 2 min. video. time goes fast when you're having fun. Either that or the amnestic gas is doing the job. I will need to rewatch this until the next ep. comes out.
This series has me at the edge of my seat. I don't usually comment but I must congratulate all of you guys for the awesome work. Keep it up, this might be the start of something really big!
I LOVE this series! The actress for Marion is amazing! Seeing her watch and argue with her past self is an awesome moment to me. We need more adaptations like this! I've got a few SCP entries that i'd love to see adapted, either live action or animated, like SCP-3300 aka 'The Rain' or SCP-6005 aka 'Cascadia' or the best entry SCP-1730 'What Happened to Site-13?' though, i kinda feel like that one could be made into a movie. Seriously, the potential is limitless.
Warning for possible spoilers! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . For those that don't know, as I understand it, SCP-3125 effectively replaces the concept of "humanity" from those who are "posessed". It's more complicated than that, cause you are essentially always under the influence of 3125 unless you are in a safe room, and this effect only activates whenever you hold enough relevant information of the SCP. In the tale, Marion instantly recognises that, when she called the attention of 3125, Paul and all the others stopped being recognizable to her as humans. That is honestly the thing that creeped me out the most of the tale.
Ah, so it puts you in a schizophrenic episode. It would be much easier for an SCP to be able to just make one person affected think the rest of the world is infected by an SCP that they must fight and stop. Plus, it would be incredibly difficult to prove one way or the other since it looks the same from the relative perspectives.
@@AndreaJoshuaAsnicar i think it shows it quite well! The whole "there's something in your neck" bit is really well acted and it gives off the same notes as the tale did, imho.
I think you're mixing up two separate things... being possessed doesn't require you to know about 3125, and Marion was never possessed. They stopped being recognizable as humans because they became possessed, because when 3125 knows about you (because you know about it), it will destroy "you and everyone who thinks like you", and basically took control of the entire Foundation immediately, people who think like her. But Marion is immune, like David (and for the same reasons), so it has to send minions to take care of her
This series is fantastic. It's amazing how good storytelling can be in the indie world when you don't have 40 corporate executives meddling with the artist's vision and trying to shoehorn corporate-approved messages into it. Very, very well done.
It bothers me that they didn't mention Adam or his connection to [spoiler]. Hopefully, he's introduced later. Also I don't understand how 3125 got to Paul Kim before Marion broke containment. But the extended scene with Paul is well paced. It gave me time to let the horror of his bodysnatching settle in.
Re: 3125 getting 'out' before Marion broke containment, were you paying attention? 3125 was not in that containment unit. In fact, that containment unit was the *only place on Earth* that 3125 is not.
@@MCOmegaX123 in this case there is a containment breach when someone leaves the room without forgetting everything about 3125. Outside the room they become a target along with anyone who thinks like them. But Paul got targeted before Marion let the room.
@@andresomerville4896 Because 3125 is already everywhere but that room. Being near someone who left the room without forgetting is not a prerequisite to being possessed, otherwise nobody would ever get possessed unless they/someone around them did what Marion did. @@MCOmegaX123 "otherwise nobody would ever get possessed unless they/someone around them did what Marion did" Yes, that is specifically how the SCP works, nobody gets possessed until someone becomes aware of it, and it then takes everyone that "thinks like them". I think something like this might be hard to actualize, but if reality is clearly altered with coincidences of things a person could’ve done but rarely and all of them together becomes a clear bias with an ulterior motive would be better, like this:

But now I'm excited to see it done here!
i love this idea so much and how you blend the 2
only? others exist, you've just forgotten about them :)
How would you do antimemes and amnestics in a larp? You can't exactly use actual amnestics.
The actress remembered that. TBH, amongst the absolute chaos of production I forgot about that detail. She lived and breathed Marion

This is why I'm scared of 5 dimensional memes. There are several SCP 's that are just the leading edge of SCP-3125 entering the human no-sphear.
The concepts are so fascinating
I keep seeing the term 5 dimensional meme or similar, but what are these 5 dimensions supposed to be? I would guess 3 for space, maybe 1 for time(?) and maybe one for some "idea" dimension, but is that at all accurate? I couldn't find any references
@@soupy58903125 is either from, or is the god of (still not clear on it myself), the Fifth Dimension. It’s meant to be a higher plane where it’s basically just ideatic space; that is, sentient ideas live up there and actively interact with/consume each other. 3125 coming down to standard 3-dimensional space from there has a few consequences:
Time is a dimension, just like the spacial dimensions we've discussed so far, you could draw a time-line with only one dimension, just like the youtube video timeline, it goes at one speed in one direction under normal circumstances because thats how time normally works for us, but if we were obeying different rules (like you, watching the video) time could just be like any other dimension you could travel through and observe freely.
ive realised this post is waay harder to finish than i hoped, so i'll leave what ive written so far and take a different approach
5d memes as a concept come from the meme of calling a plan or idea "playing 5d chess", the idea being its a concept outside the bounds of our normal 4d world.

Oh the SCP-3125 containment unit scene is gonna be really good
i loved making it
The more I look at that and episode 2, the more horrifying it becomes.
It's terrifying and so well thought out, qntm's is a genius. I love the book so much!

Episode 1 was impressive, but _this_ is a whole other level. Marion's actor did a phenomenal job, and the uncanny acting from the infected people is incredibly on point!
My only small complaint would be that this adaptation cuts out the explanation of _why_ Marion in the recording was so much more defeatist than she is in the present, which is one of the most poignant scenes in the first half of the original tale series, but I'll reserve judgment on that front until after Episode 4.
this chapter was dense and I didn't want to keep 15min of Marion listening to herself so I made some cutting (with a chainsaw, I admit)
She looks at the blueprint and it's a schematic for making a sandwich. *oh, that's what I'm supposed to be making...*
There Is No Catering Division
Tanya Schneider is amazing.
She freaking is!
I was listening to the podcast 'SCP Archives' earlier today and one of the episodes was SCP-3125
Don't spoil the fun for others even if you know
uuuuuhhh!!
I want to see a tale about the guy who does the timecards for site 41. That must be a horrible job
hahahah
Aaaah the cliffhanger!!
Brilliant, the inside of the containment unit looks great. Thanks (again... and again... and again...) for making this and sharing it with us here!
Thank you for watching this and supporting us!
Marion is not the hero that we deserve, but the one we need.
I think she's also the one we deserve
Can't wait for episode 4. That cliffhanger is crazy. I also noticed that Paul dropped his coffee twice, some sort of time thing?
Memory thing. Deja Vu. The idea that you have done something before but don't have a memory of it so it feels familiar because you forgot.
THIS IS THE RIGHT ANSWER! I'm glad people picked up on it!
Thank you! We put lots of love into it!
Aw man no giant evil starfish drawn on multiple sheets of paper? It was a big moment in the tales...
yeah..we kept it simpler
It just showed up it my feed and I was like
"It us already out!!!"
I don't care it is another 20 hours until premiere. I am just happy it will show up.
I never, NEVER, had this kind of anticipation and engagement with ANYTHING on youtube before.
Thank you!
Thank you! We love bringing the community together!
Currently reading the book and the attentrion to detail and quotes verbatim from the book has me appreciating this so much. Love the acting and the indie vibe, especially the slight changes in episode 2. I can't wait to keep up with this series, it's such an amazing story SO FAR (only halfway through the book)
The book is phenomenal and worth buying to support qntm!
@@AndreaJoshuaAsnicar I think they mean why she wasn't "possessed" or whatever is happening like everyone else at the site.
@@CrazyFarseer
I don't know if it's broadly canon, but "Find us alive" mentions a sort of memetic rating system for determining what types of memetic effects different people are responsive to. The main characters are all labelled 14b which prevents them from being affected by one of the main anomalies at their site. Maybe she's just immune to certain effects of 3125 which make her more resistant to its overall influence.
This is incredible. The sets are perfect and the actor for Marion is absolutely KILLING it
She's amazing!
This is criminally underwatched, the cinematography and acting is on-par with big-budget TV shows, love it ❤
Thank you! We put lots of love into it!
This scp is basically the game.
mmm...is basically the book hahaha
After three episodes and this series making me a antimemtics division fan, I have to say these two actors are forever the look and voice of these characters
Thank you! They were great and I loved them
One must imagine the Antimemetics Division happy...
I don't know if they're happy!
This was my favorite part of the original tale & it genuinely looks like I imagined it. This series just hits all the right spots
Thank you! As a creator, your words warm my heart!
Yeah, these next two are gonna be the ones that I'm simultaneously the most eager and anxious for. (This is a compliment, to be clear.)
hahah the next one are good imo, still reduced from the original concept and adapted, but we liked them!
Poor dude, not a break since his "first day"
hahaha he secretly loves it!
I love the design of the inverted containment chamber, it fits so well!! Also the acting is amazing yet again
Thank you so much!
I guess it makes sense that they cut Adam out of the picture so they wouldn't have to include 55555, but I feel like it would be neat if they included the mention of Adam and then pointed the viewers to the source material if they wanted to find out about him.
I love the show regardless, to be clear.
you gotta kill your darlings
No way a Antimemetics Division exists, I'm calling the ISD to check this out.
uh ooooohhhh!
Case colorless green, I’m very excited to see this brought to life
How do you build such a device, or fight such a problem?
That was what they tried to do in 55555
The "why are you like that? You're stronger than that!" reminded me that Antimemetic story is not only the best SCP, the best mystery novel, one of the best sci-fi I've ever read, but also a GREAT romance story. There's no place for it here, so it's unknown "why is she like that", buuuuuut.... "Adam Wheeler, an interloper" :,-(
I think the short video format works well for an adaptation of this story. Love the cliffhangers
Thank you! We put lots of love into it!
I love this series. SCP isn't all MTF and cool effects. Sometimes it's just the drama of humans in absurd conditions trying to survive
I think so as well, love the psychological drama
@@AndreaJoshuaAsnicar
Excited!
My only note is I wish the way she deduced the container age was kept (she recognized the architectural design of Burt something )
Additionally, I wanna note that in the story, SCP3125 didn't take over Paul until after he made the realization she may not have properly followed the amnestic protocol, as quoted "then they replaced him"
I could be wrong though, feel free to correct/discuss. I love talking about this hehe
Yeah, planning to not do any of 55555 we cut down all mentions of future stuff just because somewhere we had to cut down and we started from there!
@@AndreaJoshuaAsnicaroh! Gotcha! This was an amazing production either way and I'm I'm excited for the conclusion!
I know not every line from the text can be included or it would take too long but disappointed the lines about Wheeler and her team being the only ones left was not included.
"Every competent antimemetics research project finds SCP-3125's fingerprints sooner or later. ... "
"Seven years ago there were more than four hundred antimemetics research groups worldwide.
I know but it would have become a monologue fest, way too long.
and on the 3125 entry there is a similar description.
""Much data has been accrued in this containment unit over the course of successive visits by Foundation researchers. This data was brought from the outside in the hope of being useful and left here in accordance with containment procedures. In addition to this database entry, the reader will find multiple electronic copies of the Foundation database, academic data sets of all kinds and extensive public news archives. ....""
""Memetics research is, today, a much-diminished science from when it was at its peak. In mid-2008 there existed more than 400 institutions pursuing research likely to uncover SCP-3125, including government agencies, military branches, private corporations, independent laboratories, university research projects and notable amateur groups. Many of these were GOIs or internal divisions within GOIs. None of these groups still exist, except for the Foundation's Antimemetics Division.""
""Almost nobody in the world is consciously aware of this decline, and explanations for the disappearance of these groups have not been forthcoming.""
""Simple deduction gives that all of these groups eventually discovered SCP-3125 and were consumed by it, and that this is, in fact, the inevitable fate of all competent memetics research.""
😂
One thing im most excited about if it will be here is the z-class mnestics, otherwise know as the drug that destroys the mind's ability to forget. Every day your brain deletes countless little and insignificant thoughts, memories, feelings and data from the 5 sences that if you lose that ability suddenly, the amount of information would surely make you insane.
No! that's the next episode with that
Okay, nevermind me then.

Incredible. I've got pure satisfaction after watching this.
Thank you! We put lots of love into it!
I love the decision to show antimemetic attacks as seeing something happen twice. Looks mysterious and disorienting.
That was what we added, i think the idea of dejavu works
Even though I'm not into the stories of SCP, I can tell this is a really god ep. just because this 10 min video started feeling like a 2 min. video. time goes fast when you're having fun. Either that or the amnestic gas is doing the job.
I will need to rewatch this until the next ep. comes out.
amnestic gas is fun as hahah but thank you!
This series has me at the edge of my seat. I don't usually comment but I must congratulate all of you guys for the awesome work. Keep it up, this might be the start of something really big!
We hope the SCP community enjoy. That's why we do it!
We got more coming!

Yeah, it's a very complex concepts to put into video without telling it. So, we made the people kinda behave like puppets!
But Marion is immune, like David (and for the same reasons), so it has to send minions to take care of her
I cannot believe how good this is, the quality of the acting, sets and music is top notch! This should be full blown a TV series.
Thank you! We put lots of love into it!

She threw herself completely in the role!

It's not my fault I failed the exam, if I study this and connect the dots, I'll die

All the actors and the whole team did a good job!
we love them
This whole "how do we fight an enemy without it realizing that and how we're fighting it" is also what's so great about the 3 Body Problem TV series.
i think this is even scarier as at least in 3BP they know they're coming and when
The timeline might be broken. I didn't see a Premier. I uh... Gotta go!
uh! 😂

There was really no point in mentioning Adam, Bart or what else because we never planned to do 55555 and so it's just another name thrown there.
Paul got possessed because he was there, not because of Marion.
@@MCOmegaX123 "otherwise nobody would ever get possessed unless they/someone around them did what Marion did"
Yes, that is specifically how the SCP works, nobody gets possessed until someone becomes aware of it, and it then takes everyone that "thinks like them". If it just randomly possessed people for no reason, it wouldn't really be an anti-meme and would have been 'noticed' immediately
If Netflix picks this up it's gon be one of the most famous shows in the world.
