They pulled off an amazing port with this. The control was much better then the SNES or Neo Geo versions. I also liked the way they made the fights last a little longer by decreasing the damage a bit.
That last bit kind of makes me angry a bit at the game, not you. I hit the CPU when it's low on health, but it's like the opponents just keep getting up until I eventually knock them out, or they get me.
I honestly feel like it’s better than the Neo Geo too. I know that sounds crazy but it just “feels” better to play. It’s faster and smoother and I even like the music better. This is probably the only Neo Geo game in history that I can legitimately say that I prefer the “inferior” genesis version.
@@turbogear7776 Way better than neo not only because sega genesis is the original one but also because it has better music. Neo is a joke that changed everything great in this game. That's what they do with other games too as Mortal Kombat 2. Sega Genesis MK2 was original and great with amazing music. Neo changed that and put voice on the characters which ruined the game. Neo doesn't exist for me they're garbage >:(
The Neo Geo version is the original, the Genesis version changed things in this game, not the other way around. The Neo Geo version also slaughters all home versions of the game due to being on much more powerful, and expensive hardware. The Neo hardware is legendary, and has cult status for a reason, it helped change the game for how home ports on consoles should be with the AES console (which provided arcade accurate, or near accurate ports of the original MVS games). The Neo Geo ran off the same guts as a Genesis (the Motorola X68000), just with more RAM, a much superior soundchip, and better graphics chip. Sorry, but the Genesis version does not sound better than the Neo Geo original, the only great home port of this game came for the PS2, where it is emulated on Fatal Fury Battle Archives Volume 1. I admit though, you did give me quite the laugh when you claimed the Genesis version of this is superior to the arcade original, and an extra chuckle when you said the Genesis version was the original......for two arcade originated games. MK2 was also not original, it too was an arcade port. Might want to do a little research next time Jack, that way you can get the straight facts. Oh and if you think the codes to break this game are great, think again, they aren't. That's why I never use the codes, I'd rather play this game the way it was meant to (and do play my copy the way it is meant to be), without juggles and combos, this game was never meant to be combocentric.
Great gameplay. Brings back SO many memories. Also, Terry's theme, "Kurikinton" has an AWESOME Sonic The Hegdehog vibe on this port (well, it IS a Genesis port after all) if you listen carefully. 😊
I definitely recognise the music on the last stage, its the song that played in that one episode of Regular Show where Skips accidentally killed Rigby.
Billy Kane's music never left my mind no matter if I played this game for only a weekend when it first came out. So it was like, last year that I looked for it to finally listen to it again.
SNES had some things the Genesis didn't have either. Seems the programmers wanted you to buy both versions, so each one had something the other didn't have, and if you wanted everything, you had to buy both.
FF2 on the Sega Genesis is a very faithful playable home port. The original Neo Geo port MVS or AES the CPU is very cheap and unfair making the experience unenjoyable.
The arcade version was hard to make you pump more quarters in it to continue. SNK had to make money after all, games were not cheap to make, nor were the arcade units.

Mega CD version was handled by a western developer, and had no source code,. This is why no western company should try and port over a Japanese made arcade game, they always screw something up, either by incompetence, or not having access to source code (happened with the GBA version of R-Type 3, the Italian devs had no source code, and had to rebuild the game from scratch, to messy results).
People think I'm crazy but I'm telling you I had fatal fury special for the Genesis i got it at blockbuster I think it was an exclusive rental that they wasn't supposed to sell
I've heard rumors about a Fatal Fury Special Genesis version but have never seen it. Can you remember much about it, like did it include all the characters?
There is no FF Special for the Genesis, but for the Sega CD, and it was likely the worst port of the game as it had so much missing from it (meanwhile, the PC Engine CD port was fantastic).
@@mikeeone5649 I have a Fatal Fury 2 cartridge which includes the bosses. It is exactly the same as the original, aside from the expanded rooster. Perhaps are you referring to this one?
There's no character endings in this version of the game, a major bummer if you ask me. Same thing happened with the Japanese MD version of Power Instinct.
+Colton Mask As soon as your character's health bar is flashing red, you can use a DM whenever you want. I think there is an option in the cheat menu which lets you use DMs whenever you want to, but I didn't use that in this video.
Fatal Fury 2 is far better than Mortal Kombat, at least this had some depth in what you could do. MK was more notorious for it's gore, and that's all it had.

Best use of combos and death moves I've seen..

For some reason the jumps doesn't seem as awfully floaty as the snes version.
