- Playthrough with Ryo Sakazaki. Ryo is a hidden character in this port, who can be unlocked by inputting a cheat code at the Takara logo screen. Unlike the Neo Geo version, you can use Ryo in the single player mode on the SNES.
I upped the difficulty to the highest setting, since it's really easy to beat the game with Ryo. The CPU can't seem to deal with his fireballs most of the time. I also fight Ryo at the end of the game -he's a hidden challenger who you can face if you beat the game without losing a single round.
The biggest problem I have with this port is the responsiveness of the controls. I can do most special moves OK, but any that require a charge motion to do (like Ryo's flying kick) seem really hard to do, for some reason.

Is no one gonna talk about the music in this port because I love the music in this port. Ryo’s theme sounds very different compared to the arcade version.

How is the SNES version better than the Mega CD version? The sprites have more animation and so do some of the backgrounds.

@Fernando Palmeira, the Sega CD version is hot garbage. Less animation frames on characters, no background animations, missing announcer, and stages like Jubei's has no paintings you can break. The SCD port was done by a western team that had no source code to work with, and tried their best to reconstruct the game from the ground up, but ultimately failed.
There's another CD port, the PCE Engine CD version, and it eats the SCD version for lunch. You're crazy if you believe the SCD port is better than other ports. This SNES version absolutely wipes the floor with the SCD version.
The SNES version of Fatal Fury Special is definitely the best and most complete SNK fighting game on any 16bit system, I like its gameplay with the two additional buttons for the lane switch/attack even more than the Neo Geo original's gameplay. A great port, just like it should be!
@@Bloodreign1 right, the Sega CD version is very simplified: no parallax scrolling, no background animations, crap fighter animations, ugly coloration, hitbox troubles, missing announcer. The only good thing is the original music - but I even prefer some of the SNES version's remixed tracks.
Is this version easier than the original on Neo Geo? I played this on Switch and it’s hard because the cpu always read my movements.
Yeah, it's much easier, and quite playable as the CPU doesn't read your inputs.
Bloodreign1 I’ve beaten the original on Switch about 10 times by now on a lower difficulty. Sad you can’t play as Ryo, though.
@@josh6453 you can play as Ryo Sakazaki in the original too! You have to input some cheat, just like in the SNES version.

How do you unlock Ryo? I’m trying to input the code on the Takara logo but nothing seems to happen. I’m playing the US rom on SNES mini.
The code should be: Down, Down-Forward, Forward, Down-Forward, Down, Down-Back, Back, X.

I even prefer the SNES port, it has also very good gameplay and the additional shoulder buttons are very useful for the 3D move/attack (in the original you have to press two buttons simultaneous for it).

How an SNES port is better than a sega CD one XD?
The Sega CD port was lazy programmed and unfinished. It has the original soundtrack, but that's the only good thing vs the SNES port. No parallax scrolling, poor coloration, a dumb AI, loading and more missing animations makes the Sega CD version inferior.

@@ariesmercurio1869 well, that's because they were obvioursly not motivated to make a good port, it's similar to the case of the Saturn/PS1 ports of Mortal Kombat 2, where the 16bit SNES version is even better than its 32bit counterparts. Development skills count!

genesis port just have better game play and character looks a little better but have many missing detalis in ff1 and 2 and missing characters and fonts stage on genesis looks like 8 bits
