Creme Dela Creme Miller is a far better daredevil writer than Batman. Dark knight strikes back and All star Batman and Robin ruined his reputation with the character.
Yes, Frank Miller he also wrote Sin City, 300, Batman Year One, but even then I don't really liked Man Without Fear

I like DC because it's dark and gritty but I like Marvel cuz' it has "better" characters that I could make a whole storyline with. But DC is still my fave.

Watchmen is such an amazing read. Same with V for Vendetta although it wasn't included in the list. Say what you want about D.C. Movies, but they're comics are golden, can't be beaten.

Wow hey let's reply to a two month old comment, but i think the art of V for Vendetta is absolutely unbearable. If someone else like Tim Sale or or perhaps even Steve McNiven would re-do it, i think i would be ten times better. Watchmen is (partially) as fantastic as it is because of Dave Gibbons incredible artwork, and would suffer if done otherwise. Am I alone on this?

Alex Ross’ work is just breathtaking. Every page in Kingdom Come is literally a work of art.

Kingdom Come has some of the best comic art I've ever seen
anything done by alex ross is nothing short of incredible. I also recommend "World's greatest superheros" and "Justice" as he did all the art for those books too.
And has one of the best versions of Superman,Batman & Wonder Woman.

weeellll, for us italian Watchmen is the Divine Coemedia of comics. After, comics never be the same.
With the exception of Kingdom Come everything on this list is pretty much available as an animated movie or an actual movie.

Sandman is better than watchmen it added the endless, lucifer, mazikeen (Who was way better in the sandman than the tv show) and had characters like boss smiley aswell whilst watchmen only added what rochack and dr manhattans

the animation was crappy because they took the look from the comic itself and the look was terrible in the comic to begin with

I bought the killing joke and watchmen on the same day, but I finished reading killing joke in a day and watchmen in a month. Overall I honestly think watchmen is THE best dc graphic novel of all time.

I just purchased a copy of "Batman: The Killing Joke" at my local comic book shop just last month, and it was quite dark yet awesome for a Batman story worth reading. :D

Is it just me, or is Identity Crisis overlooked on these lists. That story while not as intense on the "super" aspects if The Justice League, is brutally a brutally real look at how being heroes affects their private lives. Awesome novel.

You guys got the info about Watchmen flipped. Alan Moore wanted to use the established characters but DC didn't want him to use them in such a dark story. If you find the list of characters he wanted, you'll see that each Watchmen is similar.
Alan Moore and Frank Miller were to DC Comics what Hulk Hogan and Macho Man Randy Savage were to the WWF(E).

Even though it was recent, I think Injustice should have gotten a spot on this list. It may not be a classic, but it is an intense and extremely entertaining series. If not that, I think Flashpoint would have deserved a spot.
So I’m just now getting into reading graphic novels and the first 2 I bought are “V for Vendetta” and “Watchmen” I want to get “The Killing Joke” next. Do I need to read any other Batman comics prior to “The Killing Joke” to understand it? Or can I start there?

Watch All Star Superman. The ending in the animated movie is better than the graphic novel. Read Superman American Alien hailed as the "new" All Star Superman for current times.

Watchmen, Killing Joke, and Returns are masterpieces. I'm sort of new to comics. I'm planning on reading Death in The Family, V for Vendetta, Sandman, Maus, or Daredevil Born Again next. Which should read first? Also I want to read a great Spider-Man book. Any recommendations?

Story arcs and mini series are not graphic novels. When collected, they are trade paper backs. You should know what you are talking about before you do a video about something. Just sayin'.

Could be either. A Graphic Novel Is a stand alone original story, usually 2 to 3 times larger than a normal comic. If the material has been compiled into a single volume from a run in a comic series or a complete mini series, it is a Trade Paperback or Hardcover. If the material is taken in part from various sources and compiled into a new publication, it is an Anthology. At least in terms of the comic book industry. So their inclusion Dark Knight, Teen Titans, Watchmen are not correct.
Jay Willy well ok then I've always just called them graphic novels because that's what they were called when I searched them I guess it all comes down to what you prefer to call them
They probably just make it easier to find by using a common term, but I've collected comics form 1978 until now and those have always been the different classifications that the industry has used as far as i know.
Trying to sell product by lumping them in the same section with similar items is not the same as creating a misleading title for a video where you claim to be discussing one specific format and then throw in everything that's put into a big book. And sounding smart is nothing I have to try to do, especially on TH-cam.

Aswin V Ramarao That is Alex Ross' art style, which looks like a painting and I personally find very beautiful. You'll find it in pretty much every work he has done, this specific picture being from Kingdom Come.
Last music if from Koyaanisqatsi written by Philip Glass. Weird in a comic film. :)

Neither was more than half the list technically. The fact that you can buy Knightfall as a single thick book means it is a now a "graphic novel". Same case for Judas Contract which is in the list.

6:07-Oh my gosh. My all time favorite story in all of comics. Kingdom Come!!!! My favorite version of my favorite superhero. The Kingdom and Kingdom Come. Sorry Silver-Age, but KC Superman is just better for me. 6:47-That was a good one. If only for the shock value of how I almost had to mourn Batgirl.

they are mostly classic. you can find it every comic store in England or america. or, maybe in a very good german store.

Just finished Kingdom Come and it was great. Also finished Batman: Long Halloween and was kinda disappointed with it. The art was all over the place, sometimes really good and sometimes I couldn't tell who was who. The story started out really good, but got really confusing and the ending wasn't satisfying and was really vague as it seems even the audience never really finds who Holiday actually was. And you never find out what Catwoman's part in this was at all.
I think i have that new teen titans comic, man now i have to go look lol.
