Superman wielding Mjolnir and Cap's Shield is perhaps one of my most favorite comic drawings ever. There is nothing more epic than that in all of comics.
Superman also held Captain America's shield at the same time as Mjolnir. If there was a crossover film with this scene it would get even bigger roars and cheers than Cap holding Mjolnir in Endgame.
Thor wanted Superman to use it - Odin agreed, disabling the worthiness enchantment. Cap sitting out the fight (when he's an on-field commander) just so Superman could get the shield, was even dumber.
@TigerClaw! Kinda. He has some of the worthiness qualities being a good guy who can do the right thing. And since all he had to do was whack a barrier, Odin allowed it - but didn't allow it after the barrier was destroyed. Now if the best way to stop the threat was to smash Krona's head until it explodes, Superman isn't doing that.
BTW, Thor had to lend Superman his hammer with special permission from Odin, otherwise Superman wouldn't have been able to use it. That's right, SUPERMAN of all people is unworthy to use Mjolnir. Why? Because he's not okay with killing.

The point, as usual, was that good triumphs over evil. Virtues like humility, strong will, might, and trust were put in display. The overall concept wasn't about everything coming down to superman because they would have failed if it had been left to any hero, alone. The idea was that teamwork was the key. I think an interesting story could be made when you mix Quicksilver's natural speed with the Speedforce enhancing it. You know, if this hasn't been done already.

Why can't you get off that horse and enjoy the FICTION of the idea? If the writer wants Quicksilver to be "chosen" or whatever other criteria makes you eligible for the speedforce, then Quicksilver is eligible for the Speedforce. Chill.
Chris B. I think that's what they did with the first flash Jay garrick.....he ended up having a metagene that allowed him to move fast but as far as going to different dimensions he later was taught how to access the speedforce

Apparently, Bruce Timm has expressed interest in an interview in doing an animated adaptation of the JLA/Avengers comics. If he were to be able to get such a project greenlit, do you think he would write an entirely new animated universe, each, for DC and Marvel or use one of the multiple existing ones of each? And if the latter, which ones do you think he'd most likely use? (It's worth noting that, according to TV Tropes, both Marvel and DC comics have had occasional references to this event without actually making any copyright-infringing namedrops)
Marvel fans seem to take it hard seeing Supes wield both Mjolnir and Caps Sheild in a majestic fashion, which in the end came out as the guy who made it all possible. I mean honestly, who else would Thor throw his hammer at, everyone is almost beaten while Superman is also barely hanging in there but he's open and available, and who else would you put your faith for a chance to win other than the guy who is most capable atm. Superman has been beaten before, he's not the strongest, but he is one of the most capable to get a job done.
Shanks nah the fan base and the comics make him that way he originally wasn't even supposed to fly I honestly love D.C. But superman is a alien not a god he really doesn't make since it seems that the writers just want to make him immune to everything he's to over powered and it honestly needs to stop

I don't understand why no one in the marvel universe is disturbed by all these cosmic beings who silently watch everything you do. They don't get involved, they don't help, they simply want to watch you.
It should have been noted that the giant was Avengers villian Terminus and "the star fish"was Justice League villain Starro.A contrast was shown in how the League, who often outwits or out strategizes used mainly brute force or outpowered Terminus, the prime method that the Avengers usually employ. The Avengers alternately used a League/DC ploy to defeat Starro, namely "finding a weakspot" a classic DC solution for defeating their villains.

Kryptonyan I agree. I know star wars isn't indie stuff, but if I want to know about something other than the Big Two, I should be reading it. I wouldn't mind Rob focusing on Marvel and DC and occasionally dipping into other comics like Star Wars and the Walking Dead. Variety is the spice of life.
The funny thing is the reason Superman is not worthy is one of the most iconic parts of his character.... he refuses to kill and as such does not meet the warrior requirement. Even Captain America who has in 2 instances wielded Mjolnir has proved himself to be a warrior and has killed.
***** Not only is it more recent [in canon anyway since it happened before in a what if story], it was complete horse shit when compared to what has long been established....since it involved stripping THOR Odinson of his name and on top of that NOBODY that was considered worthy being able to lift it due to the enchantment changing itself. On top of that while she has not killed she has proven herself to be willing to if needed by using Sif's sword to fight with while she was on side kick duty and has both been an Asgardian and had Sif inside of her. Also killing doesn't have anything to do with it having the ability to do so when needed IS part of being a warrior which is explicitly a required characteristic. NOBODY with a strict no kill rule has been capable of doing so. Spiderman is the closest to one and even he has blood on his hands... He used Whisper as a human shield to protect himself causing Whisper to die, back when Strange lost his comic for a bit and the solution that made neither fanbase happy of forcing Spiderman to have to go to Strange for help constantly led to him erasing someone [the Shade] from existence, and the obvious Morlun..... The 2nd closest is Cap who has been very open about the fact he has killed people [mostly during war but there were a small number of times he has done so outside of war including shooting people to death based on instinct before he even realized he did so. No kill = no worthy... there are a TON of requirements established to be worthy, being a warrior is one that while mentioned a number of the people that are worthy it is not obvious right away due to the life they lived beforehand [such as being an emergency responder]... A universal trait they have all possessed which is generally something considered to be a requirement of being a warrior is they will kill when needed.
Anthony Angelosanto Bad writing that goes against Marvel's history of the hammer, Odin, and Thor. Odin decides who is worthy by his enchantment. That's why he's grabbed it from Thor, and beat Thor's ass down when he was trying to teach him a lesson.
LSSRoshi Technically Mjolnir decides who is worthy but Odin had the ability to override the enchantment at any time. BRB for example Odin didn't decide was worthy since he didn't even know who BRB was until after the fact.
Superman fell to the dark side, stole Thor's hammer, Captain America's shield, the ring of power, made 7 horcruxes, and is on his way to release the Xerogen Mist. It's been nice knowing you.

Superman is normally not worthy of lifting Mjolnir. But I must admit, it's interesting watching people trying to come up with theories (other than what's actually explained in the comic and video) to try working around it.
AVATAR STICKMAN Exactly. I originally misread what you wrote and had to change my comment, but you are dead on. In addition to the nobility, you would have to have that warrior spirit. Normal worthiness would be determined by the Viking standards by which Odin, Thor, and all other Asgardians exist by. Being a good or pure person (like Superman was) wouldn't be enough. You would probably also need to be considered a warrior/soldier (or possibly have the heart and spirit of a warrior) by Asgardian/Viking standards; something Superman has never been in any of his mainstream continuities. The enchantment also allows the hammer to be wielded by someone if Thor is incapacitated and the battle must be won or if Thor wills the hammer to them; as Thor does in this case. Superman was in a position to continue the battle and Thor wasn't, so Thor tossed it to him.
wrong answer. I own that book. it isn't concluded that Batman vs Captain America would be a draw. Batman states that Cap could beat him but it would take a long time.

During the first few episodes of The Weekly Pull Benny and Sal pressured him into incorporating more DC into the mix and Marvel Explained died and was reborn into what we have today as Comics Explained. If there are Rob Corps rings out there I gotta get one to promote the man where a lot of my comic book knowledge comes from.
Mitch Yelverton You know the Guardians of the Galaxy in the DC universe¿ The little blue guys who made the green lantern corps and say they’re the oldest beings in the universe. He’s one of them, except he obviously gives no fucks and amassed an insane amount of power. He very simply wants to know where and how everything started. And is willing to kill each and every universe he comes into contact with to find said answer. Spoiler. He does eventually find Dr. Manhattans giant floating blue hand creating the DC universe. :P Though I’m not sure how he got out of his egg form or if it’s a completely different continuity..
To all the people that think that part of Mjlonirs "worthiness enchantment" comes from "killing" let me prove all of you WRONG right now. Jane Foster, a woman with cancer and whom of which NEVER KILLED ANYONE became the new Thor. #MindBlowing Now also remember that the hammer is sentient! It also dictates who it allows to wield it. For the love of Jenova, keep to the facts.
It's not that you have to kill to wield it. You have to be willing/able to kill. It's unlikely that Eric Masterson, Red Norvel, and Simon Walterson had killed people prior to picking up the hammer.
SumWytGai/En Grey/ TinyTitz It's called bad writing. This was a crossover, not canon to Marvel. The main origin of the hammer tells of it being forged with the core of a dying star by dwarven blacksmiths. This is just a new direction with writing. Odin made the enchantment with a warrior being worthy in mind. Wonder Woman is more worthy than Superman as far as Mjolnir is concerned. She lifted it in an earlier crossover.
FoneyBone1 Superman is noble, and good. It goes against the core of his character to go and kill. It's just not who he is and why he isn't a warrior worthy of welding Mjolnir... As opposed to Wonder Woman who has no problem killing if that's what it takes.
JLA/Avengers is the only canon crossover, DC vs Marvel was canon but was retconned. It's also canon to both DC and Marvel as the story has a direct sequel in DC and this crossover is what caused Scarlet Witch to go crazy and cause House of M. I agree with Wonder Woman lifting the hammer and not Superman since he's not normally willing to take a life. Whatever Fury told Thor actually made him unworthy since he lifted an alternate Thor's hammer that could only be lifted by the unworthy, and Odin was still able to lift it. He has however regained his worthiness since then though but I believe Jane still has the hammer.
Could Odin not lift it? I read somewhere he could but if that's wrong then him telling the hammer something might be the case. It could also explain why Jane can lift it despite he not really having a warrior's spirit or whatever. The willingness to kill (at least as far as I know) is from Walt Simonson when he was talking about Beta Ray Bill lifting the hammer. He said in his opinion Superman couldn't lift it because he wasn't willing to kill someone (quite the example), however he also said he didn't believe Captain America could lift it and he's done so twice so take that as you will.
I'm a DC fan, but I would so have loved to seen Captain American give Batman the smackdown. so tired of Batman, that I would vote for a trade of characters between DC and Marvel. Batman for which Marvel character. Wouldn't mind Iron Man.

I think an interesting story could be made when you mix Quicksilver's natural speed with the Speedforce enhancing it. You know, if this hasn't been done already.
No its never gonna be possible why?, Because speedforce only works for chosen ones, and QS will never be choosed by the speedforce because the speedforce belongs to Flash family and DC universe not Marvel
then why were there a bunch of people getting zapped and getting the speed powers (speedsters)... i wouldnt know.. i dont read dc... just saw it on the comicstorian page
NakedSaru Santahound Explain the Godspeed plot line then when random citizens were getting struck. All "chosen ones"? Why can't Quicksilver be a chosen one then? Why can't you get off that horse and enjoy the FICTION of the idea? If the writer wants Quicksilver to be "chosen" or whatever other criteria makes you eligible for the speedforce, then Quicksilver is eligible for the Speedforce. Chill.
Chris B. I think that's what they did with the first flash Jay garrick.....he ended up having a metagene that allowed him to move fast but as far as going to different dimensions he later was taught how to access the speedforce
There was a series of comics in the 90s called Marvel vs DC, eventually characters from both universes fused...
you know the ussual stuff
Man dude keep up the great work! Thanks for sharing these. I've really been catching up on things I've slightly knew about.
omg this is an awesome crossover wow
love how batman and cap bonded, bothing losing people, smart fighters, knew who had to win
awesome final battle, every villain vs the heroes, so fanservice gold
figuring out Superman's weakness with help of the other side, so good
feels seeing all the wrongs they'll do and deciding to keep fighting
Apparently, Bruce Timm has expressed interest in an interview in doing an animated adaptation of the JLA/Avengers comics. If he were to be able to get such a project greenlit, do you think he would write an entirely new animated universe, each, for DC and Marvel or use one of the multiple existing ones of each? And if the latter, which ones do you think he'd most likely use? (It's worth noting that, according to TV Tropes, both Marvel and DC comics have had occasional references to this event without actually making any copyright-infringing namedrops)
Bruce Timm would make it all about Batgod which the comic was more nurtured than Bruce Timm's vision.
Bruce Timm is the fucking GOAT
You forgot that infinity and kismet, the embodiment of the to universes, in the background basically made a cosmic baby this whole story.
I know,thats the best part.
Maybe some details were omitted to encourage people to read the story themselves? Support the industry etc etc
JamcalX *Eternity
I love hearing about crossovers and when others wield Mjölnir.
this is a better marvel vs. DC scenario. better story they should do it again
It was utterly fantastic, I really enjoyed seeing the Avengers and Justice League join forces to defeat a common enemy.
I love how you run back on characters backgrounds so new fans can get a better understanding. great videos man.
But superman is a alien not a god he really doesn't make since it seems that the writers just want to make him immune to everything he's to over powered and it honestly needs to stop
of course he made it possible Beacuse of Thor and well Odin
"majestic"???
Supe's biceps look like butt-cheeks.
He is the stronest
@@nigelwilliams7179 deadpool never killed the entire marvel for real, that was only in a dream. Deadpool isn't immortal either, he was temporarily banned from death for a while. Deadpool is actually one of the weakest characters.
I like how batman realizes that the avengers and the justice league are just pawns for a bigger scheme
I'd love to see JL/AVENGERS to merge forever as a super team.
Sammy Lane NO, just no. :/
Irvin Fuentes why
Sammy Lane
superman is such a "silverspoon superhero" he is ok but such a boring hero

Love your channel bro. I never got to read comics as a kid. I'm learning a lot watching your videos.

I always love George Perez's artwork. Not to mention he worked on both the Avengers and JLA.
Why isn't Hulk in this story?
Because Hulk would kill everyone?
+Andrew Singleton Lol almost everyone...
Kearns y who cares. He's like Doomsdays' good twin, with rage issues though.
I think you've got that backwards, Doomsday is more like Hulk's twin, the green guy pre-dates him by 30 years.
Sean Kearns cuz he woulda punched out Supes....
Wow comic book story telling was so complex it hurt my brain just to watch this video. That was so cool!
Absolutely love the way you say "Beastly!" at 30:33.
The Watcher, aka the Voyeur.
Shadysif lmao
Shadysif there's Heimdall too
That sounds like it would be the Dark Horse version of him lol.
I don't understand why no one in the marvel universe is disturbed by all these cosmic beings who silently watch everything you do. They don't get involved, they don't help, they simply want to watch you.
Watcher only shows up when he sensed battle about to go down :)
Those small starfish were on Batman Beyond, Superman episode!!!
I miss your fake laughs.
madara is lame, he needed his homies cells to be fleek
so much narration - my head exploded at 19 minutes... x.x
OMG YES you finaly did JLA vs Avengers...u have no idea how long i've been waiting lol
23:20 Superman made a spinal tap reference. Game over, gg, life complete.
It should have been noted that the giant was Avengers villian Terminus and "the star fish"was Justice League villain Starro.A contrast was shown in how the League, who often outwits or out strategizes used mainly brute force or outpowered Terminus, the prime method that the Avengers usually employ. The Avengers alternately used a League/DC ploy to defeat Starro, namely "finding a weakspot" a classic DC solution for defeating their villains.
omg Supes qouted Spinal Tap, I never realized that!
"Sorry but in my world the dials... go to ELEVEN!" roflmfao
Finally that video came out on the internet! For months I've been looking for an explanation and opinion for this crossover besides my own. Thanks!
can we get a run down of the time doctor doom and doctor strange went to hell to save doom's mother
I am so glad that your style is way less essay like. Thank you so much for the change.
I love Thor's smug look on him at 31:45 at the bottom right corner. Haha!!
Yeah me too but more like 31:57
THANKS ROB! I absolutely love this story, nothing compares to George Perez. I love how they show flash being far superior to quicksilver like it should be. ⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️
Less star wars more of this :)
I like star wars.
There's a place for both of them... ~_~
Kryptonyan
I agree.
I know star wars isn't indie stuff, but if I want to know about something other than the Big Two, I should be reading it.
I PERSONALLY watch you so I can learn the history of the two core universes, as to better understand the context of the new stuff I buy every week.
That seems like the safest perspective from which this channel could come.
I wouldn't mind Rob focusing on Marvel and DC and occasionally dipping into other comics like Star Wars and the Walking Dead.
Variety is the spice of life.
Yes. Keep it spicy.
~_~
I'd love to see another crossover like this today considering the way both lines are currently
23:31 wow did Superman just quote This Is Spinal Tap?!
I wish DC and Marvel would do another crossover. Just them chilling and hanging out. That would be nice...
Im going to guess its going to be mentioned that Superman was not in fact worthy and that the restriction was lifted.....
kingknotts expect fanboys to ignore that part lol.
Grand Master is in Thor Ragnarok not GOTG 2.
I have a pet theory that Wanda struggling to use DC's magic in the DC universe basically broke her mind and led to Avengers Disassembled.
Superman fell to the dark side, stole Thor's hammer, Captain America's shield, the ring of power, made 7 horcruxes, and is on his way to release the Xerogen Mist. It's been nice knowing you.
Releasethezazen don't forget he trains Yautjaa in stealth sport hunting , planted the seed that would become Weiland-Yutani ergo engineering the xenomorphs WHILE schooling a youngling named Yoda in the ways of the force.....Fucking Superman.....geez....xD
He never stole anything. Odin gave him permission to pick it up. Superman was not worthy.
@@drdoom1805 why you crying?
General Zod: I was bred to be a warrior, Kal. Trained my entire life to master my senses. Where did you train? ON A FARM?
Supes: No, in the construction site.
sometimes comic writers just write not so good stories, it's a discipline and craft , subjective to be sure
i feel like when Captain America saw Robin's costume it reminded him of Bucky's old WW2 outfit
you know i read somewhere where Disney tried to buy WB, who owns DC. The deal didnt happen WB rejected the offer as ive read. But if the sale happened, this wouldve been possible on the big screen.
idiot not gonna happen
Thanks for the synopsis. I always wanted to read the JLA/Avengers crossover but was never able to. I liked it and no doubt in this age of superhero movies no doubt a version of it will show up on the big screen someday.
The joker remembered the first cross over
Thor + Superman = OMFG best partners ever!!!!
Well theres a reason why superman is the first EVER SUPERHERO!
BK ThE DEFINITION no he is no such thing! 1st hero was Crimson Avenger in DC. not super powered though. that was Dollman who was only 6" tall! part if Uncle Sam's Freedom Fighters who traveled from earth 2 to earth X! where WWII had been ongoing for 40 years!

ozzymandistwenty14 Superman was the first super hero in action comics in 1938
this was a nice story. I'd like to see you do more marvel/DC cross overs in the future.
Superman is normally not worthy of lifting Mjolnir. But I must admit, it's interesting watching people trying to come up with theories (other than what's actually explained in the comic and video) to try working around it.
MVG How wouldn't he be worthy? He is like the nicest and most heroic of all Superheroes haha
izzythefizzy 4.0 because of the things to make you worthy is you have to have the will to kill that Thor has but Superman doesn't.
AVATAR STICKMAN I guess, but he will kill someone if that's the only way. Although I am assuming it more of a "just kill them" type of deal?
***** that's called bad writing and it's because of something having to do with Mjolnir's history.
Superman is lifting thor hammer with odin's help. Without odin help he can't lift it.
wrong answer. I own that book. it isn't concluded that Batman vs Captain America would be a draw. Batman states that Cap could beat him but it would take a long time.
Demetrius Holley he said be could! batman could win! that's a draw.
@@Ozzy_2014 no Batman admitted that cap would win agreed to be friends and then carried on as super friends.
@@drdoom1805 yeah. Cap would win. But only because his super endurance, super strength
Long time watcher. First time commenter. Just want to say youre doing a great job. Love the openers that jump right into the story! Sounds like you the audio levels figured out to match your deep voice. Would love to watch a video on The Wheel The Bell and The Jar. In fact, all the items that were taken would make a great video series. I only know marvel stuff. Love to learn more about DC! Great job!
Superman would be worthy of the hammer, surely.
He isn’t willing to kill anyone. It’s the reason wonder women is worthy and superman is not.
Thoroughly enjoyed this. Thanks for putting it together 😊
THOR "God Of Thunder" > Superman "Man Of Steel"
Love the music! Well thought out storyline.
If they made this into a movie it shut up all the fanboys and make a billion domestically (as long as Zack Snyder isnt involved!) 😅
I just read this story about a month ago, and it quickly became my favorite story ever. Just wish it featured The Hulk more.
Giant Machine?? That's Terminus.
Chris B I gotta agree bro that story would be legit. great idea.
Hal just becomes the Spectre there at the end? Why didn't he just do that before and wipe the floor with everyone?
It’s not really explained in the video but basically Barry Allen and Hawkeye were kinda killed and it triggered Hal becoming parallax for a second again and then he was replaced with Kyle because that part of the reality was kinda repaired so he became the Spectre again 💁♀️
hey Rob! nice review as always. did you know that this story is the only one to actually be Canon even though it doesn't have any reminiscence of Prior stories so that means basically this actually happened in continually unlike previous stories.
why didn't u talk about eternity and kismet in the end....I was waiting for people to know about kismet
Baisil Sunny b/c he's not a DC guy and doesn't know about her. superman stories deal w her.
I'd like to know about Kismet.
Don Chong check her out...is a really interesting character and concept...DC's equivalent of both eternity and infinity.... however not much info is available on her.
ozzymandistwenty14 what do u mean ..he literally wrote a book on Supermans history.
Love this comic. It's a TON of fun to read.
So I've been a part of the Rob Corps for a while now but when can I get my Rob Corps ring?
I though nobody was going to acknownledge this. Rob Corps, god damn it! I love it
Leo Beastmode Me too I found him a long time before he was "Comics Explained", he was just "Marvel Explained" refusing to do any DC stories.
This would be an epic arc, just imagine how many movies they could come out with.
what color are the rob core rings
Thomas Wayne Jr. Brown due to his love of Coffee
+Henry Navarro or maybe that's the insignia of the core is a mug
Great video! ✌️
Lol Superman bodies thor XD
Captain America: These kids can fight pretty well.
Wonder Woman: Ok.

You know the Guardians of the Galaxy in the DC universe¿ The little blue guys who made the green lantern corps and say they’re the oldest beings in the universe.
Fucking awesome you did this.
And they will upset the cosmic balance and they need to face The Living Tribunal and the other cosmic entities
Think you
Niiiice...I always wanted a crossover with a wicked battle. Good work!!!
To all the people that think that part of Mjlonirs "worthiness enchantment" comes from "killing" let me prove all of you WRONG right now.
Jane Foster, a woman with cancer and whom of which NEVER KILLED ANYONE became the new Thor.
#MindBlowing
Now also remember that the hammer is sentient!
33:30 Superman is Spinal Tap fan confirmed.
I'm a DC fan, but I would so have loved to seen Captain American give Batman the smackdown.
so tired of Batman, that I would vote for a trade of characters between DC and Marvel.
Batman for which Marvel character.
Wouldn't mind Iron Man.
