You have Doubling Season and Calix with 2 counters. You make a token copy of Doubling Season. Instead you make 2 tokens. These enter play, triggering Calix twice. Calix adds 2^3 = 8 counters for each Doubling Season, so adds 16 counters (total 18 counters) You again make a token copy of Doubling Season. This makes 8 tokens that copy Doubling Season instead, putting you up to 11 total Doubling Seasons. This triggers Calix 8 times, each one adding 2^11 = 2,048 counters on Calix, for a total of 18 + 2,048x8 = 8,210 counters on Calix. In your madness and lust for power, you again make a token copy of Doubling Season. This makes 2,048 token copies of Doubling Season instead, putting you up to 2,059 total Doubling Seasons. This triggers Calix 2,048 times, each one adding 2^2,059 counters on Calix. The total number of counters added to Calix by these triggers amounts to 2^2,070, which is a 623-digit number (~1.35 x 10^623), which renders the initial 8,210 counters that were on it a rounding error at best. That is to say, Calix would have more than one hundred billion trillion googol googol googol googol googol googol counters on it, solely from Doubling Season tokens entering play. Each additional enchantment that enters the battlefield would add another 2^2,059 (or ~6.6 x 10^619) counters to Calix.
It makes somewhat less tokens thanks to Arena's token cap, but you still go into absurdity, there is just no other answer, the counters that will drop are enough to make Calix able to kill everything all at once Where was this when the Eldrazi and Phyrexians were causing disasters?
To put this in perspective, if you multiply the age of the universe in seconds times the number of atoms in the universe, you get ~5x10^97. So, if everyone second that passed in our universe resulted in the creation of another, identical universe, then the total number of atoms in all of those universes would only be -1/30th of the counters out onto Calix
@@Grombrindal you could Animate the Saga with Zur, Eternal Schemer (Then you might copy it with Hulking Metamorph or similar to keep it as creature) When it leaves the battlefield as creature, exile it with Kinzu of the Bleak Coven Now you have a Three Blind Mice Token that is also Toxic

I always knew my MISSION with a deck - "I built the deck to do THIS"... but didn't know HOW aggressively or cautiously to approach playing my carsa
You know, I don't play MTG anymore, but I really appreciate the quality of this video. I love how you breakdown what each card effect does, both in direct definition as well as simplifying it so that people who are newer to the game can understand. I don't know if I'll ever try to get back into MTG as I haven't played it in half a decade, but this was very fun to watch regardless!
Turn three in the first game, more optimal to play land, Utopia Sprawl, use your lands on Calix, then play Dryad with your Sanctum Weaver that now taps for 3. It didn't matter for the game in question, but even so, there may have been games that it would have mattered that we didn't see. That said, great video! Love the deck.
I am just going to round some numbers here: 2 ^ 10 = 1024, let's estimate it as 1000 = 10 ^ 3. Now you got like 240 DS on the board, so 2 ^ 240 = (2 ^ 10) ^ 24 which, going by the estimate above, is (10 ^ 3) ^ 24 = 10 ^ 72. The real number is probably a couple of oders of magnitude higher, so we can say it's significantly more than a number with 72 digits. Just to give a ballpark: the number of atoms in our galaxy is estimated as 2.4 × 10 ^ 67 and the number of atoms in the known universe is estimated to be between 10 ^ 78 and 10 ^ 82. So we are looking at somewhere in the region of "the number of atoms in the universe" amount of counters on those mice. I am not surprised that Arena decided not to calculate that.
These videos are extremely cool, and because of that, it would love to see longer versions. So much cool stuff, like the wraths and the pillow fort matchup would’ve been cool to see in a longer form
Phil, I had to come here and say that I love this deck. Enough so in fact that I built it on Arena (after decided to re-install it more or less just to draft whenever an interesting set is available). It's been a blast, kind of hilarious, and I wanted to share with you a really sweet game I played with it (and really wish I'd recorded): I ended up matched up against a Shrine deck. I didn't see a Calix until late, and still haven't seen the Doubling Season, but just one copy of the Three Blind Mice from Mythos of Illuna got me there. The best part is the game was super close--they were one turn away from draining me to death when they finally conceded to the triggers of some 18 or so copies of Three Blind Mice.

It's great that we're getting more unique/weird sagas like that, the princess takes flight and sorceror's apprentice ones (with a "bad" last chapter), read ahead, kamigawa saga->creatures, etc. I actually would love to see something like that for standard (a bit more serious of a deck, but still janky? Maybe that would encroach more on Seth's style of videos, but I'd watch both of you play it even if it's 100% the same deck tbh). Maybe BW Braids? UR with some bounce spell for the last chapter?

7.06xE72
That's probably more than arena's system can handle by around 4 times, assuming it uses 64 bit memory addresses for counters

It’s not *quite* as bad as Mondrak/Ratadrabik, which consumes the universe if you hit six death triggers at once, iirc, but 2^(2048+11) is more than the universe.
i used to break the stack overflow in MTGA by mutating a Parcelbeast and/or Migratory Greathorn onto a Scute Swarm back in the Ikoria days. Good times.
I laughed so hard at Sparky's "Hmmm" when seeing 132 mice 😂
Absolute epitome of MTGA that everyone conceded rather than watch the glorious chaos unfold
Really good content!
The music… good Lord, the music… absurd and superb
I run this in Commander. Swinging in with a 39/39 Calix on turn 6 is absolute gold.
Not even Sparky sat out to watch the full thing.
"Unless someone board wipes... which uh....happens a lot.."
Yeah I can't imagine Farewell bodes well for this deck. I feel like you need some counterspells, because you can make mana of any color with either the Eidolon or Growth Spiral..take care of those board wipes
