Definitely a fantastic dish. Brings back memories of my first visit to Chidambaram as a bride. Tasted this for the first time then, almost 4 decades ago. The gostu also travels well. Makes a terrific accompaniment to any rice main course during road travel. A dash of extra oil makes it easy to pack and serve during travel
Rakesh..we grow black brinjal at home ..but never knew ..we can do such a nice dish out of it..now we use ..all of them at home and every week do this recipe ..thank u and amma so much 🙏🙏
My ancestral roots are from Chidambaram and this literally added more flavour to the food. Of course with due credit to the chef. Lovely preparation I must say. Missed Madame Rama !

Hi, my family hails from Chidambaram and this is exactly how it is made in the temple kitchen, and also how my mother makes it. This is the authentic recipe. Thanks for sharing! All others either use onions or roast the brinjal on fire (nothing against that, just that it is not the temple recipe) .

I add equal proportion of small onion to this. Balance are same... Goes well with idly, dosa, bread. My all time favourite dish..
