Good point on covering equipment. The Amish have a saying you pay for a barn whether you have one or not--your tools rust if you don't.

I bought the stx26 when it came out and then bought the stx38 the day it came out. They let me use the prototype. Drastic improvement. My big stumper rarely goes out as my Dingo and Stx38 can travel on the same trailer.

I agree the 38 especially with the rhino wheel is a drastic improvement over the 26 but I can still get into some tighter spaces with the 26 and it’s good at stairs and obstacles so I tend to use it more. The output with the rhino wheel is amazing, I put 109 hours on one set of teeth!

I got a stumper sp-H20 walk behind 20hp works great for full time job, I know patience is key but passing out business cards where I see stumps is that a good idea!!

I appreciate Your video. How do You handle 811 utility locates. I know You briefly mentioned it around the 6 minute mark. Do You call for every stump? Thank You Sir

How long does the Toro 26 take you to do your largest target stump of 30”? Do you charge extra to haul away the debris?

It depends on the variety of tree, but typically it might take 30-40 to get it down below grade. And yes we definitely charge to haul debris. Most people are fine with a pile where the stump was to not pay excavation/hauling fees.

"I've only been stump grinding for 15 years." Only! Sounds like you have some experience.

I guess 15 years does sound like a lot, I know there are a bunch of guys on here doing it longer and I have been trying to be focused on the entry level aspects and how it can be lucrative.

@@siberwolf33how so? He started the video talking about where you live/cost of living affecting what you’d bid a job at…

@radioguy801 just spitballing here but maybe if that was the intent of the question a better ask would be what city are you in. The difference between Portland and Bonanza will be about as stark as any two places in the country.

They do it so they don’t get any sponsorship, (no commercials) I happen to like this song, but I agree it’s a bit quirky
