Printing Florals on the Gelli Plate! Two experiments!

- In this video, I am experimenting with some floral prints on the Gelli plate! I’m using some silk flowers to print in the first experiment, and in the second I paint freehand right onto the plate!
I think they turned out pretty cool, and I can definitely see some future uses for these techniques in my mixed media work!
I hope you enjoy! 😃😃😃

I love the way both pieces turned out, but I especially love the black background. Thank you for sharing your experiments!❤
Thank you so much!!☺️
What a fabulous idea. Thank you😊
Thank you!!☺️
I have tons of fake flowers and leaves that I used to dress my fairies in~ I was going to get rid of them and now at least I have a use for some of them! Thank you for sharing this process! Yours turned out awesome! ❤
SO excited to try this!
I definitely recommend trying it! I love the way the prints turned out, and you can get some really neateffects!☺️
Wow, Melissa! What an incredible technique. I tried your basic technique of letting a layer dry before adding another with varying degrees of success. I think I’m putting on the paint too thickly…I see you really brayer the paint and take a lot of excess off the plate. Thank you for showing this, I really like how both of the pieces turned out.
You are so welcome! Yeah, I definitely find that it’s better to take some of the paint off. I basically will brayer until I can kind of see through it a little bit, if that makes sense? That’s where I’ve found the greatest success! Good luck!☺️☺️
@@ArtworkByMelissaReed Yes, that does make sense and I think that’s what I did with the one that came out the best. Thanks!🤗
The black based one looks awesome! Love the cracks in it too - gives it interest. I like the other one as well, but layering front to back would definitely have helped that be amazing
Thank you! I agree, that would’ve been really cool!☺️
I print with silk leaves and ferns too. 😊
It’s so much fun!!
Stunning❤
Thank you! 😊
Aloha, I for one love "experimenting" on the geli plate! This was a great experiment and I think you had a good outcome. I was a little worried when you pulled out black but it works! TFS 🤙❤
Hi! Yeah, I wasn’t sure what was going to happen, but that’s the whole point of the experiment, I guess, lol! Sometimes they end up great, sometimes…😳
Fabulous 😊
Thank you so much!☺️
I find that if I lay down two sheets of tissue paper at the same time, I rarly get lines. I take off the top sheet before it gets any of the paint coming through the bottom one. Thanks for sharing your tecniques...
That's a great idea!☺️
Beautiful prints! How long do you leave the tissue on when you pull it? I’m new to the geli plate and love this look
I leave it on until it is completely dry. (sometimes I cheat and use the hairdryer on cool setting, but I always edit that part out so it doesn’t bore you all to tears, lol! 🤣🤣🤣)
If you are using regular tissue paper, just be very careful when you pull, because it will tear. If you try to loosen all of the edges first, I found that that is helpful, but you still have to be pretty careful.
Wet strength tissue is much better, but it’s a little pricey and sometimes Amazon is out of stock.
