I got home from running errands and said, “Ooh! Melissa will have posted her video by now!” I couldn’t wait to watch! Thank you so much for doing this video. I had heard the exact same things that you did, and hadn’t had the energy to do this experiment myself! Knowing that we can do an inkjet transfer, it also tells me I can photocopy a magazine page on an inkjet, when that magazine page doesn’t have the right ink to transfer on its own. I’ve been running into that lately as well. Older mags transfer great but many newer ones don’t.
Wow, thank you so much for saying that! It made my day! Yes, this opens up so many possibilities! I was thinking about doing a photocopy of a newspaper, and then transferring that onto tissue paper to use. There are just so many ideas!☺️
Fun to watch you experiment, Melissa. Thank you. The papers came out great! (love the cat art on the wall in your introduction and the little meows during the video)
Such a great video- I've not seen this technique of image transfer. So cool! I have a laser printer myself and still don't have consistent success with transfers. I think I will try this method with it. Thanks so much for the share and for trying it out so many ways- gives us so many great ideas of ways to play!
You are so welcome! My success rate with the laser prints is honestly about 50-50. It doesn’t seem to matter what I do, sometimes they just don’t want to work. Obviously there’s something that I’m missing, but I have no idea what it is, lol. I’m so glad you enjoyed the video! ☺️
You can think of it like acrylic paint but without the pigment. It’s not exactly the same thing, but it functions in much the same way. Many collage artists use it as an adhesive to glue down their collage papers. It can also be used as an additive to acrylic paint to make the paint more transparent!
@@ArtworkByMelissaReed I think pigment inks work because they won't be reactivated. I have watched so many videos I can't remember. I have a Canon that is pigment and an old HP laser I am going to try.. I want to transfer my own photos.
Thank you for sharing this video! I have an ink jet printer so I am going to try my hand at your techniques.
I was really excited to try this technique! It just opens up so many new possibilities! I hope you have fun with it!
Great experiment ❤
Thank you! Cheers!☺️

I love this technique! They all turned out great, but I liked the first one you did the best. I think it came out the clearest.
Thank you so much!
Finally, great techniques and I'll get back with you when I try this. Thanks Melissa!
Yes, definitely let me know how it works out for you!☺️
Thank you Melissa, good to know that I can use my old inkjet printer. You made my day :)
You are so welcome!🤗

What is Matt gel medium? Thank you.

The fresh print looks a lot lighter to the 😮
What kind of paper are you printing the ink jet on?
I’m just using regular copy paper here.
@@ArtworkByMelissaReed Thank you! I will try this today.
What type of ink did your inkjet printer use? Dye or pigment?
@@juliekbrooks I have an HP printer and I buy the HP 63 ink. I Google searched it, and it says that it is a pigment based ink.

Hi, could you please add the link to the free photo source site, I don't see it in the description, thanks
Oh, no! I totally forgot! Here it is, and I’ll add it to the description!
Thank you for letting me know!

What kind of paper are you using for the first prints? It looks like rice paper.
Hello! It’s actually just regular printer paper!☺️
