Tbh, he was drafted by the wrong team for his development. A Rookie like him could get much more minute somewhere else. He had ROTY potential.

In a Turkish podcast Alperen said Hakeem did the same workout he did when he was training Alpi. Hakeem is such a great athelete, he can still compete at the age of 60.

Next to Kobe, Sengun will probably end up being Dream's best student. Everything he'll teach will be soaked up because his skill and basketball IQ are both off the charts. Can't wait to see where he goes.
I have to agree. Good point about Kobe and Sengun being best beneficiaries of Hakeem's work. I wonder if Sengun is only goimg to work with him this one time or will they be meeting say twice a week. Hopefully they get get lots of work together!
LeBron was also a pupil of The Dream’s. I saw a video where he had LeBron doing the same spin drills. I’ve seen him use the Dream Shake and other moves learned from Olajuwon.
@@emanon2208 Yeah and so was Dwight. The thing about Lebron is that it took him years to get everything down to the point where what he learned looked smooth. I think Sengun will soak up things much quicker. Almost as quick as Kobe.

Definitely needs to teach him how to be a smarter defender… that said, I think Sengun will be the franchise player for the Rockets over Jalen.

Hakeem telling another guy to replicate his quickness is like Superman telling a human to imitate his flight.
Quickness maybe so but the moves sengun looks to them right and with hoe defenders can't guard the post.mvoes cause they don't teach them he should still have great success

So cool to see a legend passing on his knowledge to a young guy that is one of the foundations for the franchise to build on. Also, I could watch The Dream doing moves and explaining them all day.

Love to see him and a few of our other young guys grow 1-4 inches more too. But at 6'9" -6'10" I would see him at the 4 PF not 5 Center position. But I hope he keeps getting better and he earns starting role. He may be slower on defense, but he is solid and can weak side block and block often after being beaten off dribble. But the Bigs are pushing him around too much right now imo.

I had a smile on my face the entire time watching this. I love seeing Hakeem passing knowledge.
one thing I am excited with about Sengun is the fact that he already has amazing vision for passing a la Jokic and even a decent 3 ball. Dream had to learn with time to pass out to teammates with the double team. If he can absorb everything he learned from Dream and be just a fraction of his post game greatness, Sengun is going to be a central core piece for years to come!!
He could be the next dream but replace the elite defense with elite playmaking

@@nickpagano7134 no he wasn't. He had better teams. You swap Dream for Kareem in those repeat championship years, Houston doesn't win those titles. Moses Malone showed how to defend Kareem with physicality. That New York front court would've punished Kareem, and Kareem wasn't the defender Dream was. The following year, Shaq would've steamrolled Kareem. The only center that "possibly" could've done what Dream did was Chamberlain and Shaq, but of course that would've been Shaq vs. Shaq. But what we'll never know is if Shaq could've defended a player like himself.

Man Sengun is blessed to have that kind of knowledge his disposal. I meet Dream when I was 9 years old and I was able to demonstrate the dream shake. Too bad that I only topped out at 5'11. I send his old games to my young big men to watch his footwork
Hakeem Olajuwon will always be my favorite athlete of all time. I am so blessed to had grown up watching Dream in his prime as a Rockets fan.

It's crazy he's not fast like a young man fast but he's so efficient with his moves, so honed in skill that he looks lightning quick

Workout more interesting than the entire reg season
Everything Dream did offensively was based off the jump hook to the middle. Then it was the spin to the baseline. Then it was the baseline fadeaway, which made him unstoppable. Then he added a face up jumper, crossover and drive to the post where it all started all over in the post. This made him a freaking ALIEN.
Hakeem might not be top 5 for every pundit, but if you leave him out of your All-Time Top 10 I can't respect your opinion!
My favorite all-time player and the player I'm most excited about moving forward and looking forward to watching for years to come.
Always nice to see a great young talent in Sengun working with my favourite player of all time in Hakeem the dream Olajuwon and by the way I never got to see Hakeem play because I was born in 2002 but watching videos of him playing is just amazing.
In the video I saw as a retired oldie hakeem still do the spin moves faster than Alpi😂 quickness is a talent cant be taught. But at least Alpi can improve his quickness and add new skill sets from hakeem to become better. Smart people use his own experience, smarter people use experience of others.

It’s incredible that as a teaching authority for NBA talent, there really is no great like Hakeem. If you go see him and work on your footwork, he will bring out the best version of yourself. Kobe, LeBron... the list goes on. What a well of wisdom, and the humility to teach it to the new generation.

This just so happened to pop up on my recommended. I’m a bulls fan, but I think the rockets are going to be very lucky to have Alperen. Watching him this season he already has an advanced skill set for a rookie

It's great to see Hakeem, the man I grew up watching, and made me a Rockets fan, now teaching Alperen.
Hakeem lost a lot of weight recently. It's so nice to see him working with the young uns. I know I'll be doing a lot of spins next time I'm at the park 😁. Sengun is looking better than I thought.

Sengun needs a new translator. That guy barely translated anything. He was standing there just watching the dream in awe. I mean, I get it, but you still gotta job to do lol.

I think they cut out all the parts in which he translated it.
He isn't just a translator, he is also a coach. He was there to learn so that he can continue the lessons and drill Alperen.

With the emergence of Nikola Jokic, Alperen Şengün is going to lead the next generation of big men and will be one of the best in the league if not the best. The return of the post big men but modernized will be the new wave(post player + shooting + best in league passing and great package all around). The excitement post players create is a breath of fresh air to old heads from the 70s-90s and also amazes the younger generation because we have been so 3pt curry obsessed that a sexy high-level post-play is now very rare, refreshing, and alperen as a rookie has one of those every night and will only become more dominant overtime on top of his elite passing and soon to be elite 3pt shooting. Throughout the years he will continue to prove and remold what a big man is in the modern NBA and I could not be more excited about the constantly evolving and diversified NBA game that a kid from Turkey, Slovenia, and Serbia can be some of the best players in the league all in the same decade

In the off-season i feel like there will be a progress session to see how far he’s come, but like he said alp is already a complete player now
Hakeem is on the coaching staff. It will not be a one-time thing.
Hakeem is part of the coaching staff which is why Dwight Howard, Clint Capela, and get this Omer Asik and Chandler Parson were all able to train with him for free
