This is absolutely fascinating to me. Lebron is such a student of the game and hakeem has turned into one of the best teachers the post position will ever see.
its because kobe had these sessions with hakeem and lebron just followed the footsteps.. btw kobe did this with ease, still, not as good as hakeem though
They were going through the motions.... I mean why would they be going full speed when hes teaching the technique... As a student you go through the motions until it because natural...its natural for Hakeem Lebron was learning the move now that he has perfected it we see in his game today at a much faster speed...
Bol needs to seek him out and learn how to be a pro, and a go to shot. like a jump hook in the post. Bol is Dinka so he'll never be thick. I see him playing more forward so gaining more strength is more important than weight.
It's so strange to me that these guys don't hit up the greats. No one does Kareem's skyhook... Like it's sad. That as a fan you clearly see that if someone learnt it they would be unstoppable like he was. Bol bol should call up kareem then go call up dirk. Then go call up A.i to teach you how to cross people. Man how to bigs leave the NBA and still can't dribble.... Idk I just feel like 90% of these players aren't doing shit when they could be stars if they really wanted too
Hakeem was the best big man ever, speed foot work and skill and power! The guy was phenomenal and got better as his career progressed. I enjoyed watching him torch guys
Hakeem foot work is flawless, it's no coincidence that Kobe also worked with him had that same kind of footwork. Over the years we've seen LBJ execute these post moves in real games action.
he looks like he could still play competitively which is amazing for his age, but i think the main thing tha twould give him problems is the long schedule. its a lot easier to look good at a relaxed pace for a few sesssions than it is on a 82 game schedule. still impressive though
I'm a power forward in a point guard's body, and watching this video has helped my post game exponentially. The Dream is still the best athletic center of all time in my opinion.
The science behind The Dreamshake. He’s so beautiful. His game so smooth and graceful. At a time when the game was dominated by great centers he was hands down the best. All those fast post moves AND could bounce away and make a 20ft fade away jumper.
Imagine being such a great player that when you retire, one of the best players ever to live while still in his prime, comes to you so you can train him to continue and help him be the best player ever to live, At the same time, using your moves, you taught him to perfection to continue to climb that mountain Rushmore list! That has to be a great feeling
Well you have several players in history of basketball that have experience in soccer growing up. All of them tend to have alot better footwork than typical bball players that never played soccer..
if u watch carefully, lebron is actually paying a lot of attention to what hakeem is telling him. compare this training session to dwight's and you'll see how dwight wasn't really listening and didn't humble himself like lebron is doing here. thats the difference between the goods and the greats. the greats are always willing to put aside their pride and learn.
honestly though lebron doesnt apply these moves as much as i think he could. and its a shame because if he moved like hakeem with the quickness and strength that lebron has, i think thered be stopping him. lebrons still great though
lebron STILL hasn't mastered it.. watching him play today he's still stiff as a board with his movements.. the only footwork I've seen that are sweet as Olajuwon's are is Jordan's
I hated Olajuwon for a long time just because he decimated my childhood idol Patrick Ewing and my hometown NY Knicks in our only legitimate opportunity to win a title in my lifetime. As I've gotten older I've learned to appreciate this Mans game and Skill set. I'll still never forgive him for dunking on Ewing like 90 times lol
Cypha Are yoo I'm with you on that fam. I'm a die hard Knicks fan and I remember watching that as a kid. But Hakeem was a different breed and he's one of my all time favorite players
Man that was a great 7 game series. Hakeem was just too much at that time. I was 18 at that time in Houston. I remember thinking that other teams had to hate Hakeem because he would just make these impossible moves. Always good to hear some people appreciate him that hated him at once. lol

At this very moment I am watching the Lakers @ Boston on TNT. It's only the first quarter and I've seen Lebron use Hakeem's post up baseline move two times. The first time he kept the ball and scored on a reverse layup. The 2nd time he recognized the defense and made a pass along the baseline to the coffin corner which resulted in an assist on a made 3-point shot. Lebron, one of the greatest students of the game, continues to utilize lessons he learned from the Master, Hakeem Olajuwon!
Just got through watching Lakers at New Orleans, Sunday March 1st. Once again I could see LBJ using the "signature" moves that he learned from Hakeem. Of course, he didn't do it EVERYTIME he posted up. But there were specific times down the court where I could easily say "That's one that he learned from Hakeem." It's a signature flow of motion that is clearly visible. And in this game LBJ was killing people. I saw him use a couple of moves AND some of the counter moves that Hakeem was demonstrating in the video. And while his footwork was no match, he was extremely effective! He even did it a couple against Zion, one on the baseline and another one in the paint. The young man couldn't do anything about it. At least not on those occasions. As a huge fan of Hakeem, it was a beautiful thing to see.
6:52 he used that in game 6 vs Boston in the ecf that same year when he dropped 46 points shooting like 75 percent. Shot it right over the smaller defender, didn’t waste no time, no flashing moves or anything because he was hot that game!
Hakeem really is one of a kind, the only player I've seen that's retired and still just as good. On a side note, this video shows what seperates good players from great players, Lebron James absorb the things he learned and applies them in the games, while players like Camelo plays exactly the same way as when he first joined the league
Also, after retiring. Wilt Chamberlain also worked out a ton to keep his body in shape. He actually said he felt better at 50 then near his retirement days.

Crazy how statistically, Hakeem should be remembered for his DEFENSE. Dude was the complete package at center.
Olajuwon was a Soccer player before he got into basketball. That is 1 of the reasons he has exceptional footwork.
Moses Malone made Hakeem an animal.
No you're wrong. Not football. I think it was volleyball. He started training for basketball, then 5 years later he's In the NBA. That's how amazing he is. He must be a genius
No, Hakeem was originally a team handball player in Nigeria. Check it out ... (other teams) th-cam.com/video/odvocVSnaAU/w-d-xo.html

this is an incredibly beautiful video
This is absolutely fascinating to me. Lebron is such a student of the game and hakeem has turned into one of the best teachers the post position will ever see.
@bep 2 wow ok bitch
@@mjg6233 This guy 'bep 2' isn't anything more than a troll. Posting inflammatory comments to get a rise out of people.
You know how they are. smdh
its because kobe had these sessions with hakeem and lebron just followed the footsteps..
btw kobe did this with ease, still, not as good as hakeem though
The GREATEST skilled center of ALL TIME!!!🏀
#Olajuwon34
Bro I can't believe what I'm seeing. The Dream got me mesmerized, he's so smooth it's ridiculous.
Who's here after Lakers 2020 NBA Champion?

Btw everyone that is able to read this comment is here after Lakers are 2020 nba champion
Learning from the man that dominated Robinson, Shaq, and Ewing. 👍🏽
Abdul-Jabar, parish, all of em
There's only one person who could beat Hakeem Olajuwon one on one and that's Rasheed Wallace!
3:52 Hakeem's signature move🏀
Damn, Hakeem making Lebron look slow. And the dude is old!
Only time you old when you in the dirt youngster
I'm telling you
Dude bronsexual can’t even take those type of comments GL
They were going through the motions.... I mean why would they be going full speed when hes teaching the technique... As a student you go through the motions until it because natural...its natural for Hakeem
Lebron was learning the move now that he has perfected it we see in his game today at a much faster speed...
@@jaypierre8992 2011-2012 was after this training session...
Olajuwon is amazing this video. The footwork is so fluid and smooth. It is like poetry in motion. Now I know why he is called the dream.
Bol Bol needs the Dream.
I wish he was a bit heavier. his moves are quite fluid
Idk I just feel like 90% of these players aren't doing shit when they could be stars if they really wanted too
why does everyone look so clumsy next to hakeem?
LeBron is the greatest of all time 💯
Intelligence Injection for someone that has intelligence in his name you sure lack intelligence
Juan Alfonso Torrevillas 😆 seriously! I thought the same
Loooool
LeBron has 0 footwork
Hakeem was the best big man ever, speed foot work and skill and power! The guy was phenomenal and got better as his career progressed. I enjoyed watching him torch guys
Hakeem foot work is flawless, it's no coincidence that Kobe also worked with him had that same kind of footwork.
Over the years we've seen LBJ execute these post moves in real games action.
Hakeem is probably the only guy who could make a successful comeback in his fifties
i think jordan could do it if he trained some for it.
Keep dreaming mate
Watch Wilt at 50 on yt. You'll take it back.
Wheelz wilt could bench 450 in his 50s
he looks like he could still play competitively which is amazing for his age, but i think the main thing tha twould give him problems is the long schedule. its a lot easier to look good at a relaxed pace for a few sesssions than it is on a 82 game schedule. still impressive though
I'm a power forward in a point guard's body, and watching this video has helped my post game exponentially. The Dream is still the best athletic center of all time in my opinion.
If you have a point guard's body you need a handle. No way around it. Learn post moves second. Sam Cassell was a great post-up pg
Who better to have a training session other than Mr. Hakeem the dream. Great vid
The science behind The Dreamshake. He’s so beautiful. His game so smooth and graceful. At a time when the game was dominated by great centers he was hands down the best. All those fast post moves AND could bounce away and make a 20ft fade away jumper.
damn, over 7 feet, over 50 years of age and still got it!! #NBALEGEND
He’s finally mastered that 360 spin in 2018. Practically unguardable move.
But he is not really quick as mj did all day.. MJ is unstopable and unguardable and perfect footwork.
7:48 the only 2 players I've seen using this move are Mike and Hakeem. That's just some mad footwork.
@Nicholas Garcia sheesh tmac was nasty at these moves too
You forgot to include Kobe
@@KIBOYG who you think he learned it from lol
ONLY PLAYERS WITH THAT MOVE IN ARSENAL ARE :
DREAM (BEST MASTER IN IT) KOBE (LEARNED FROM DREAM) , GARNETT (HE IS MOST SKILLED PF EVER) AND MJ
You haven't watched basketball in 2011-12 then when Kobe did it against the Knicks. Not the only ones.
Imagine being such a great player that when you retire, one of the best players ever to live while still in his prime, comes to you so you can train him to continue and help him be the best player ever to live, At the same time, using your moves, you taught him to perfection to continue to climb that mountain Rushmore list! That has to be a great feeling
Crazy how smooth his moves are. Everybody else looks really robotic, even if they are faster than him his moves look so much better.
@@mvpmvp2980 he does the spin move often

It was great watching him play in his prime. That’s awesome to have that expert training from a coach that will sweat alongside you.
Hakeem in the post is simply terrifying. How is anyone suppose to guard those moves?
That's why his nickname "The Dream". Because one could only dream of having his kindve game! 😎
Ostertag did a good job in defending hakeem
Dee Man that and the fact ‘dream’ rhymes with ‘hakeem’

I hated Olajuwon for a long time just because he decimated my childhood idol Patrick Ewing and my hometown NY Knicks in our only legitimate opportunity to win a title in my lifetime. As I've gotten older I've learned to appreciate this Mans game and Skill set. I'll still never forgive him for dunking on Ewing like 90 times lol
Cypha Are yoo I'm with you on that fam. I'm a die hard Knicks fan and I remember watching that as a kid. But Hakeem was a different breed and he's one of my all time favorite players
Thank Moses Malone for that.
Moses Malone turned Hakeem into an animal.
Zilly Mo Passion Moses Malone man!! Your totally right he was a beast
Man that was a great 7 game series. Hakeem was just too much at that time. I was 18 at that time in Houston. I remember thinking that other teams had to hate Hakeem because he would just make these impossible moves. Always good to hear some people appreciate him that hated him at once. lol
A legend training with a legend
Even the way Hakeem catches the ball is impressive. Smooth as butter, strong as a vice.
Very smooth and athletic hakeem...I wish someone plays like him today...still in shape granpa lol 😋😋😋

Hakeem is so smooth... incredible
With the first pick of the 2021 draft, the *insert team here* select Akeem Olajuwon from some random gym in Texas. The Dream looking smooth as ever in this clip, thank you TH-cam for showing me this video 7 years after someone decided to upload it. Better late than never 🤷🏾♂️
I wonder who Zion Williamson gonna work out with for player development?
It will be Zach Randolph
julius randle
Al Horford lol
Hakeem will be one of them. He gotta pay the money tho. He probably work on low post improvement by year 3 or 4. Right now, he will out athlete everyone.
Charles Barkley 😂
For fuck's sake, Hakeem is just too ridiculously good.

brett robbins no body is good at first
Are we talking about practice? Y’all talking about practice?
Hakeem had great footwork because he played soccer growing up.. that requires a ton of footwork.. I think this really emphasizes the need for cross sports for young kids.. cant be just uni sport.. cross sports is good training overall

Hakeem moves like a dream!
I think hakeem is able to play in the nba right now
Alerk Ablikim maybe if they only played half court.
He would get tired easily. Not everyone can be above 40 and still play like Vince Carter. That guy is unbelievable. Still dunks like he's in his prime.
that's true but i think he meant like the style of play back then would still be very useful in this time
Could only play one game/week at most. Recovery time for 40+ is no joke. That's why they say that Father Time is undefeated.
Dont Kidd urself..there's a reason y hes retired...nonetheless hes a BEAST...
But there were specific times down the court where I could easily say "That's one that he learned from Hakeem."
It's a signature flow of motion that is clearly visible.
I could watch this all day
Hakeem covers so much ground so fast, so effortlessly.
Olajuwon is more fluid than Lebron...
Of course...

What gets the majority of us guys up in that age bracket is the knees. If it weren't for knee issues, we'd still be able to kill.
@Devin Patterson ... I actually got rid of mine by skating and doing tricks. It strengthens your body and helps with balance.
Hakeem was so quick and his footwork. He had to be a nightmare to guard

Basketball= the most beautiful sport on the world..💯
6:52 he used that in game 6 vs Boston in the ecf that same year when he dropped 46 points shooting like 75 percent. Shot it right over the smaller defender, didn’t waste no time, no flashing moves or anything because he was hot that game!
Guarded by rondo I remember like it yesterday
Makes it look easy & so graceful because he also played soccer...... footwork..!!
