I'm a Kama'aina from Honolulu, Hawaii. Soux Falls is beautiful. Stayed at the Hilton Hotel and Holiday Inn over looking downtown, visited the parks, several restaurants and toured around. People were friendly and welcoming. Everywhere you go there will be positive and negatives but if you do your research you should be fine. Soux Falls, you won me over with its small town charm. Loving it..
I've been debating between Rapid City and sioux falls to raise my family. But I've read alot of comments about crime rates. I have 2 young daughters so this is a major concern.
How are the cops there (hwy)? Thinking of moving in the falls area for a job and run freight from there , busy all week long. Cost to register bigger pickups , business(llc)? Weather compared to Colorado? How are the American indigenous communities treated? Thanks
I live in Sioux City with is 80 miles South. If my wife would move, I'd relocate to Sioux Falls. Spend a lot of time there and have yet to find a big negative.
In my opinion there is not many negatives here at all. I was born and raised here and I absolutely love it. I don't see myself ever moving away. 😊I highly recommend moving here 😉
I will be visiting Rapid City SD early next year, but I visited Sioux Falls several years back and It's a beautiful place and nightlife is indeed fun. Greetings from California!!
I grew up there in the 50s and early 60s. I went to Mark Twain school and Patrick Henry. My dad managed the Sears store there. Our family loved it and thought it was the perfect town, back then. I haven't been back there since 65 and am afraid to see the expansion and changes, preferring to remember it the way it was.
I love to hear that! I absolutely love it here. It's all I've ever known but I'm totally okay with staying for the rest of my life 😊 are you far north or just a small town outside of sf?
were from the burbs of chicago and lived all over but when we moved here it was estelline first now we built on the south dakota side of hendricks . go to sf every 2 weeks is to bang sams and cascto . hope the day is going good for you
80 parks, and 75 of them have drunk homeless people passed out under the trees. Downtown has lousy parking, and homeless people everywhere begging for money. During the spring/summer/fall smithfield makes downtown smell like death and hotdogs. Crime is skyrocketing. Half the schools are horrible. Daycare is becoming none existant, daycare are closing or full.
Sioux Falls what a joke I've seen better places than falls park that is 10 times better than their and the people know they're not all that great who are you trying to kid
We are seriously considering it. We left Oregon to get away from how liberal and worldly it has become and moved to conservative Kansas (or so we thought) just in time to watch it become an abortion destination state with ZERO restrictions. Also taxes are a bit high here. We have been researching S. Dakota and like what we've seen so far, except that y'all are trying to legalize weed. I hope you don't do it! That was what pushed Oregon over the cliff. Once it was legalized in Oregon the state filled up with homeless druggies and crime. Anyway, thanks for the invite, and who knows, maybe we'll join you and become S.Dakotans next year. 😎😁🤠 God bless!
The summers get decently humid, spring and fall are perfect weather. Winter can get cold because of the wind chill but last year we didn't get too much snow
Sioux Falls is the hidden gem of the Midwest. My company (Dakota Tech inc.) stays very busy helping people & businesses troubleshoot technology issues here. Sioux Falls is rated #1 in the nation to set up both a business or trust. The city has massive potential for growth in the next few decades. We have 2 massive hospitals headquartered here as well as an Amazon city. Exciting stuff!
I'd love to move up there full time but there don't seem to be many higher paid IT jobs. I'm fully remote now but if I ever got laid off it'd be nice to know there are six figure IT jobs up there. I haven't seen many in my field. Is that your experience?
South Dakota doesn’t have a state income tax. But like every other state that doesn’t you’ll more than make up for that with super high property taxes and sale taxes. So when you retire with a lower income, there is no benefit with no state income tax. You’ll still be paying super high property taxes and sales taxes. Oh and wait until winter!
I would still take all those "negative" things over the traffic, population, crime, etc of the BIG cities. Plus the winters aren't that bad 😊 I've been here my whole life so it's all I know anyways 🤷♀️
I am paying 5.5% sales tax, property taxes aren‘t cheap, 52 Cents a gallon gas tax, and state income tax. Looking at SD annual vehicle registration I would pay $50 less than I am now. All in relatively the same climate...
South Dakota is #2 on the list of states as far as how much of your money you actually keep. That include sales tax, property tax, income tax, etc. etc.
Sioux Falls sales tax is near on par with everywhere else and property tax is lower than here Nebraska. (Sales tax is about 3 cents less in Nebraska as its state level and city level not county level collection) No income tax is big. The other taxes most don’t think about that penalize retail, stifle business, and regulate you to death (say hi Omaha). Example: as a mechanic, you must pay a tax on the value of your tools, equipment every year. Most don’t know that. Your county will collect. Also, death tax. Own anything? Die? You’ll probably end up selling it to pay the tax. It’s not ridiculous, it’s terrible. This is why SD is so stable and downtowns thrive.
We've been on Oahu for the past 20 years, and Sioux Falls is #1 on our list at this point for relocation. Looks like Paradise!
I don't know if I would say paradise but it is a great place to live! :)
Winter would shock you coming from Hawaii.
@@ian2372 shock them with how beautiful it is! 😉🤣
@@ian2372 Yes, I understand it gets a little cold for a spell? We'll be sure to bring a windbreaker or two, and maybe a couple of sweaters. ;)

I am debating Rapid City or Sioux Falls too.
I am in love with South Dakota. It's the most gorgeous place I've ever been, and the people are great

Relocating from Dallas Texas July 29 2024. Dallas has gotten too crowded, too hot and too violent.
Well, welcome to Sioux Falls! If there is anything you need help with, please reach out!
I’m sold! Sounds wonderful!

Lady, have you been taking advantage of the new cannabis laws there? Either way, good video highlighting all the reasons I'd want to move there.
I love Sioux falls
YES!! Love to hear it! What is your favorite part about Sioux Falls?
I'm Korean American. Would I have a hard time settling here?
I don't think so at all! We have sorts of different ethnicities here
The winters alone ruin South Dakota. We'll stay in San Diego where the weather is perfect. 😊
I will come at the end of this year. I think you will give me a tour of the city😊
I absolutely can! What brings you to sioux falls at the end of the year?
@@lifeinsiouxfalls to live by the way am from Ethiopia nice to meet you 😊🤝

She's a real estate agent. They'd sell the last acre of land for a commission check if they could.
I would move for number 9 alone. It all sounds too good to be true
