Thanks Amy. I'm actually headed that way tomorrow for a job interview or two. I moved from Michigan to North Dakota last November only to realize the brutal conditions during the Winter in that state. At 58 its a little much when I have to drive 40-60 miles or so to the nearest town to work. As you know, wind becomes a real issue when the land is almost entirely flat. I'll bet there's more trees down your way too.
I'm going to keep my little house up here but I'm not staying. I really like the southern part of South Dakota and plan to rent an apartment down there somewhere. Sioux Falls looks awesome and your presentation may just land me there for good.
I actually left a really nice town in Michigan that is also pretty conservative and cutting edge. I just tired of all the traffic as the surrounding area exceeded a million people. It became ultra popular too with people moving in and tourism etc. Sadly, the price for everything skyrocketed as a result- apartment rents rose easily by 40% across the board over the last five years.
Anyway, I'll be headed your way soon enough. Definitely looking forward to checking out a few of the places you highlighted in this video.

You’ll also find lots of great places, restaurants to eat in Sioux Falls. Explore that area and you’ll be amazed at the difference between Sioux Falls and Fargo. Even the suburbs have some fine restaurants. The Monarch Steak House and Lounge in Renner, just on the north edge of the city has the best steaks. Brandon, just to the east has some wonderful restaurants. The costs are reasonable too.

Sioux Falls is the hidden gem of the Midwest. My company (Dakota Tech inc.) stays very busy helping people & businesses troubleshoot technology issues here.
Sioux Falls is rated #1 in the nation to set up both a business or trust. The city has massive potential for growth in the next few decades. We have 2 massive hospitals headquartered here as well as an Amazon city. Exciting stuff!

I grew up in Sioux Falls back in the 1970s...my Dad was transferred due to his job, otherwise we would have stayed. Currently living in the Twin CIties Metro and we visit Sioux Falls every few years as we have some family in the area just across the border in MN. Considering relocating/retiring there in the near future.

In the summer of 2022, we held a family reunion in Sioux Falls; as we all moved away 50 years ago
when we were all under 22. Periodically we go back, but 18 of us and spouses went back for 6 days. It still is sure a nice small city. We have all had careers that have taken us all over the USA; but our hometown is still such a nice place as was said in this video. I have heard for years that the winters are much tamer now than in the 60s. That is good, but it sure was harsh in. days. One
of us actually retired and moved back to SF recently. We all say it was a fine pace to grow up.

I live in Brandon. The area is hilly and beautiful. I like it because I'm close to rural areas with cattle farms and horse stables. Lots of wooded land along Splitrock Creek and the Big Sioux River. I think it's Sioux Falls' best suburb.

Great insightful video. I am looking at this from Oahu, Hawaii, and am very impressed with the area, a divorce and getting full custody of my 3 kids and selling my place here, as well as the cost of everything has me looking in that direction. Although I DO have to admit at this point, it's a toss up between Sioux Falls and Omaha (Gretna, Pappilion). All look very attractive. SD is leading though because of the lack of state income tax and lower property taxes. Just looking for something completely new and different. Encountering kind, unaloof, and humble people would be a nice change of pace!.

Coming from a suburb of Dallas Texas where my property tax is 2.35%. On an assessed value of 288k I paid 6370 last year. This year our appraised value went up again from 288 to 315k. This year's taxes will be around 6700. I only have a quarter of an acre. Too many people are moving here and driving prices through the roof. Since I can remain fully remote, I've been seriously looking at Sioux Falls. I've already visited a few times. The only thing I'm worried about is how I'll adjust to the winters.

      Dear Amy,
I'm looking for an affordable place. See I'm what's known as a workaholic. However, I made a bad choice of getting into Credit cards (I highly don't recommend anyone get one). So I'm kinda strapped for cash at a forever young age of 38 (just repeated 15 years thus far, lol... oh). My debt consolidation program is over soon (last withdrawal was 3 days ago, YEA) and final creditor payment is Sept 23rd In which I won't need this body killing fast aging job anymore. So in the last 9 years me and my fiance have been living in the Coldest city in the USA 🇺🇸 (for winters), now we are hoping to move there ASAP (which ever county is the best for Men of a "certain age"). She has 11 grandchildren and most live within 3 hours (I believe) of Sioux Falls. She just had major open heart ❤️ bypass surgery. We want her to get more Family, before is too late. We do (she does) own the Mobile home we live in (needs to be sold), but I'd like to move there ASAP.
I've been working in J R Simplot for 9 years August 26th (via Kelly service) 9 years under Simplot October 7th. As well as Simplot I've done Side Gigs up the Wausau, however stopped them all 2021 April.
So now that I found you, one with such a positive outlook and seemingly great Spirit. I'm hoping you might be able to assist (please 🙏) with our next move, journey, adventure. She's a Finlander, I'm a Native American Indian. She's from north of Minneapolis, I'm from the beautiful Pacific northwest. 701-500-0825 is the best way to reach me, and a text at 1st would be great so I have a heads up. I'll only have my car payment/insurance that will follow me. As far her She's had major anxiety and depression disorder since I met her, now the heart issues. Neither smoke, nor do drugs (Well I enjoy liquor with a Coke Cola). She's not supposed to drive anymore, she can barely walk. Her closest darling Daughter lives in Brandon.
I know I wrote a book, but just wanted you to know my situation and hope You are willing to assist me. I say me because although she knows I want to get her close them ASAP, she doesn't realize how hard I'm trying.
Well dear Amy thank you for your valuable time, assistance and consideration, sincerely Robert J Landon

While not the most diverse city, Sioux Falls is gaining in that category. The three largest minorities are: 4% African American, 3% Hispanic and 2% Asian. As an Asian in Sioux Falls with many Asian, black, and Hispanic friends and acquaintances, I have never felt judged or discriminated against, or known anyone who has expressly felt this way in Sioux Falls.
