My wonderful flute teacher is the 1st flutist here. Coming back as a more mature musician after playing in the young Israel Philharmonic orchestra- and with more appreciation the absolute greatness of the orchestra, the conductor. Feels surreal. Like I wasn't completely aware they were creating one of the best performances ever. We will keep the music going

I have loved the 8th since I was a child. It is the most colourful, passionate and energetic one. Even if the 100 singers in the 9th throw rocks at me: it is half as good as the 8th.

    • @TrollMeister_

The 9th is the most overrated. And the finale is a knock off of Mozart anyway.

Wonderful symphony including a loud moment with piccolos that almost interrupts like a second or two of a tea kettle whistle, and of course one of the best conductors and symphonies in the world.

In my humble opinion the father was no match for the son, not by any measure. The father's name was Melin. I didn't hear Karajan's performance a lot, but from what is stuck in my memory-this performance surpasses him. This piece is different with Mehta. Mehta is such a maestro. And I will regret forever not attending his last concerts, even though I had a reason (I anyway hated the acoustics generally in their performance hall. I remember attending to his Mahler's 2nd and sitting in the back. And man, I was like "seriously, I prefer listening to it with the bombastic headphones without the roundness of the acoustics. But the Beethoven 3rd piano concerto was more fitting to the acoustincs. And the 2nd movement was one of the most divine things I've ever heard and I was flying
