Love from IRAN🥊🥊🥊🥊🥊As an Iranian fighter pilot who served in war, watching Bernard Haitink conduct Beethoven's Symphony No. 7 feels strikingly familiar. This symphony's dynamic shifts-its sudden crescendos, calm adagios, and soaring climaxes-remind me of flying a fighter jet. Just as a plane takes off in a sudden climb to 30,000 feet, the symphony ascends with immense energy, then levels smoothly, almost like reaching cruising altitude. Yet, just as a jet suddenly dives or performs loops, Beethoven’s score plunges into intense, syncopated rhythms, pulling the listener in every direction. Like Haitink leading with closed eyes, a pilot often operates on instinct alone, even under the intense force of a 7 to 10 G dive. His mastery and the orchestra’s precision are breathtaking-demonstrating, like in combat, how skill and instinct become one🍀🍀🍀🍀🥊🥊🥊🥊🍀🍀🍀🍀🥊🥊🥊🥊
How a man coping with the loss of his hearing created this is beyond my comprehension. After the beautiful pastoral symphonies (6th) he really showed a new level of ingenuity
Whilst my father lay in a coma from which he never woke I played him the Deutsche Grammaphonen Beethoven symphonies...his favourite being No7. After his death I discovered from those who cared for him that his life signs changed and he seemed more restful to them. I cannot hear this without missing him and bathing in the overwhelming beauty of such a masterpiece. Thank you for sharing this.

I was very fortunate studying in London in the 70ties to be able to go to the Proms in Royal Albert Hall with Bernhard Haitink, he stood out, you are quite right he did serve Beethoven's music in a wonderful way and didn't in any way push himself forward, a wonderful conductor❤

I have had the great privilege of being in the Prom at the RAH many times over forty years when Sir Bernard conducted. I was present at his last Prom. Watching him leave the stage for the last ever time will live with me for ever. He caught my eye as he left. This performance, the sound quality, the camera angles are all up the the wondrous ;level of the performance itself. I must say, he takes the last movement a bit faster than I would like, but I loved it all. So glad he performed all the repeats - it makes such a difference ! RIP Sir and Bravo, Bravo.
I have the 9 symphony CD in my car and always tell my daughter that it’s the greatest piece of music ever written. However, when I listen to the seventh, I feel like I have to change my mind. The second movement, is so incredible. It says if I have to be in a special place to listen to it. It deserves that much attention. The last movement of the symphony so incredible and upbeat. Back in college, the seventh symphony was my number one and, I can see why. As I lay in bed, on my birthday, I’m enjoying this entire performance. Please share this with his many people you can. I know, for sure, but they will thank you
This composition is astounding particularly when one considers that Beethoven composed this symphony when absolutely deaf. That can, as an understatement, only be genius. Bravo!
Love this symphony, I just got through a major surgery. The master helps me feel emotions like no other musician. Listening to it brings tears to my eyes.
No. Beethoven wasn't completely deaf when he wrote this, though he definitely only had partial hearing at this time. He became fully deaf around 1815 and this was premiered in 1812.
Beethoven had a direct telephone line with heaven. The fuge in the second movement is the essence of beauty exploding into magnificent aesthetics waves.
In a shopping mall I used to work in,in the 90’s,there was a cut price bookshop that I used to pop into during my lunch breaks. They sold various classical cd’s for a pound. I bought a lot ,just to teach and culture myself on historical music. I immediately fell in love with this piece.Absolutely beautiful. And I was into “techno” at the time.
I will always love & thank my dad for teaching me all about music & to love all music, but this symphony is beyond description, Beethoven was truly one of the greatest geniuses who ever lived!
My late mother saw him once on Dutch tv. She did not know much about classical music. But when she saw and heard Bernard Haitink she sat down till the end. Then she said: this is so beautiful. He knows how to make the music
Second movement is resurrection music. Insurmountable odds? Crushing weight on your shoulders? Wonderful. There is work to be done. Worlds to be created. Gods to be born.
FINALLY put a name to this music that I know well enough to sing along with!!! I did not grow up with Beethoven despite having one parent, two uncles, and both sets of grandparents who were performing professional musicians!!
Isn't it amazing? There was a day not long ago when if you longed to hear music you had to be fortunate enough to know someone who knew how to play an instrument...well! To find an orchestra able to play a piece like this... the height of human culture.
This is a concert to be not just heard, but also seen. I have had this on an LP record for 40 years now, but this video gives me a renewed experience. Every symphony of Beethoven's is a celebration, of music, orchestration and, above all, of this genius.
I was fortunate enough to learn and play this piece at an orchestra camp I attended in the 8th grade, such a fond memory of mine, it will be missed dearly.
I love Beethoven's music and the 7th Symphony is truly remarkable. I am a dedicated amateur jazz pianist and have even been trying to play the opening theme of the 2nd movement by ear as I cannot read music. Apparently when this great work received its premiere, Beethoven had to be turned round to realise that the audience were on their feet thunderously applauding. The scene is depicted beautifully in the film "Immortal Beloved" from 1995 with Gary Oldman as Beethoven. That this great genius could be robbed of his hearing by his early 30s and yet leave what he did for humanity for all time is truly remarkable. Beethoven represents the triumph over adversity, his life was not easy, and he denied himself the stability of a loving relationship in order to dedicate himself to his music. A genius and also a heroic figure. When I improvise on jazz tunes at the digital piano in my local church I like to think that I am on a low rung of the ladder of musical creativity, a hierarchy of music which leads to the likes of Beethoven at the very top. I love it when he did variations eg Diabelli variations for piano. My favourite works of the German genius are: Symphonies 1,3,5,6,7 and 9; the piano sonatas, especially the later ones; the songs; the late quartets as performed by the very best players. Beethoven also had humour in his music too eg in the Eroica piano variations at one point. We should always encourage family and friends who don't know Beethoven's music to try it, for me it is like a lifelong friend that never lets you down. Great performance from Bernard Haitink and Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, much appreciated on a night when I could not get to sleep.
I have no words to describe the joy this music brings to me. Beethoven, Conductor Haitink and the Royal Contertgebouw Orchestra are the best combination ever!
A fun moment in music: The Detroit Symphony went on tour of Europe with the newly appointed Antal Dorati in the 1970s at the height of Von Karajans prowess. They were performing in the concert hall of the Berlin Philharmoniker. The soloist took ill and as was the custom then, the Maestro requested of the hall music librarian what piece he wanted the DSO to perform as a substitute. He smiled and said: "Beethoven's Seventh Symphony." They sight read the piece with such passion and perfection that they received a thunderous standing ovation from the audience. Dorati walked backstage behind the side curtains and danced as Stallone in the movie Rocky. Can never get that image out of my head or the roar of the audience.
I LOVE the second movement!!! I always thought this was Beethoven’s funeral march, not the second movement of Eroica. I only came to listen to Eroica years after I had already fell in love with the 7th and it’s wonderful second movement
Did you ever listen to George Solti’s performance on TH-cam? It was probably from the 1990s in an Asian country, not sure which one. That second movement is out of this world but this rivals it
@@katrinat.3032 hi. I don’t believe I have. But will check it out. Thanks for pointing it out. Now listening to one of my favorites. Mozart’s requiem, the Lacrimosa is amazing.
I was 10 years old the first time I heard classical music, specifically the 7th symphony part II Allegretto , It was like my brain 🧠 went 🤯, since then I started listening and doing research about this kind of music and is when I started listening this marvelous masterpieces from Beethoven, Vivaldi, Mozart , etc.
I'm always happy to hear recording where the conductor and the recording engineer(s) were on the same page regarding making sure all the component individual colors of the orchestration in the composition can be identified.
Surely one of the finest performances of this symphony. There's just nothing like conducting for the music instead of ego, as it seems to me. Very big thank you.
I like that the camera is so much focused on Haitink himself in his conducting of this orchestra. It becomes a memory of the importance he had in classical music for so many years. Thank you, great master.
40:19 the look in the maestro's face, so grateful and relieved…after all the years’ experience and the reputation i can really feel that he still loves music with all his heart
Look at maestro Haitink's LEFT arm/hand from 39:25. It is so powerful. It conveys the utter will power of this conductor and orchestra to do it like they think it should be done. And then during the applause (41:41) there is this little abrupt thank-you movement with the hand. The signature movement of Bernard Haitink. Full of graciousness and happiness.
tbh the conductor is prolly the most impressive to me for 1. Being able to conduct such a large group 2. Being able to conduct with such spirit and precisiveness

I had the pleasure of being introduced to Mr. Haitink in his dressing room after a performance of Mahler 9 here in Cardiff. My great and late friend John Spencer Canter; former violinist at La scalla and ROH Covent garden was instrumental in my meeting him. A cherished memory indeed. Thank you John.
This performance so reminds me of that of Carlos Kleiber + Concertgebouw. That good (and somewhat similar, in a very good way). Haitink is great, and of course Concertogebouw delivers the finest. Love it.
The excitement of this performance is not created by speed or volume, but by fantastic texture. How much is the conductor, or the players, I can't say.
Tears of joy rolling down my cheeks I listen to this almost everyday and the feeling is same what a great performance by all the musicians and conductor ❤❤ O Beethoven you Beauty ❤️

The second movement is so sad yet not without hope. Marvelous performance.
Thanks for sharing your journey with classical music.
I agree with you. From Japan 🇯🇵, JST、9:26分
Cuándo dejaremos de creer EN LO QUE NO EXISTE, ÉSTO ES CREACIÓN HUMANA!!
Thanks, Ludvig! Congratulations to the maestro and the orchestra. Impeccable performance. Superb, wonderful, sublime... Regards from Rio de Janeiro.

Somebody did a great job of recording this performance. They captured all the instruments and subtleties of the symphony. Thanks for posting.
We're glad you enjoyed the video 😊
I'm always happy to hear recording where the conductor and the recording engineer(s) were on the same page regarding making sure all the component individual colors of the orchestration in the composition can be identified.
Agree 👍🏻
Surely one of the finest performances of this symphony. There's just nothing like conducting for the music instead of ego, as it seems to me. Very big thank you.
We're glad you enjoyed it! 😊
I agree.
Na team Leibowitz
Spot on, Emma.
I am hispanic and i love Bethoven clasic music and all classic music from then other great composers
I like that the camera is so much focused on Haitink himself in his conducting of this orchestra. It becomes a memory of the importance he had in classical music for so many years. Thank you, great master.
An excellent balance between the conductor and the musicians. Both in the camera work.
How I love this second movent!!!
I agree with you. From Japan 🇯🇵, JST、0:51分
Wspaniały koncert, gratulacje
Conductor really speaks for the music in his approach.
40:19 the look in the maestro's face, so grateful and relieved…after all the years’ experience and the reputation i can really feel that he still loves music with all his heart
Heaven sent🕊glorious music.
😊 Happy to be living on the same planet with you 🎉 What a treat.
...and then the 2nd movement hits, and I have to stop what I am doing and listen.
Sorry, deadline. Beethoven is speaking.
Me too!!! Always! :D
Excellent! Have listened to this work countless times over my 72 years; this is one of the greatest presentations I've heard.

One of the most wonderful pieces of music ever composed! ❤
Definitely underrated
yes you are right
such a nice leader and father
i look up to him when i was young
how are you doing
if you dont mind me asking
Stunning! I have requested this piece for the fall with the orchestra I play with. What a masterpiece of a piece.
Thrilling. Moving. Playful.Teasing. Delightful. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Have been listening to this incredibly beautiful piece for nearly 60 years, and the allegretto bring me to tears
EVERY TIME!!!
tbh the conductor is prolly the most impressive to me for
1. Being able to conduct such a large group
2. Being able to conduct with such spirit and precisiveness
We're glad you enjoyed it. Make sure to follow us in order to not miss out in the future 😊
What incredibly precise conducting.
... in an atmosphere where musicians aren't cramped and still breathe.
Beethoven at his finest . Thank you Mr. Haitink for a superlative presentation . You do Mr. B proud.
This is what “beautiful” means…..I guess- thanks Mr. B.❤
Großartiger, ganz toller Dirigent und ebensolches Orchester.
Beethoven symphony , seven , is very , very , beautuful ❤
The greatest work ever written especially for those of us who have battled depression and discouragement throughout life!!! 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻
Beethoven eres Eterno....
Beethoven was without doubt one of the greatest geniuses of all time. And the 7th was a truly great work
@@MarcusEinfeld absolutly
Well said
I had the pleasure of being introduced to Mr. Haitink in his dressing room after a performance of Mahler 9 here in Cardiff. My great and late friend John Spencer Canter; former violinist at La scalla and ROH Covent garden was instrumental in my meeting him. A cherished memory indeed. Thank you John.
Very beautiful,thank you!
All eyes on the exalted ruler. The superb orchestral musicians don't matter much at all.
A sublime performance from the Concertgebouw, and the great master Haitink, whose devotion to beauty has illumined my life for half a century.
So marvellous, no words can describe the level of talent needed to put this together. Thank you all!

This performance so reminds me of that of Carlos Kleiber + Concertgebouw. That good (and somewhat similar, in a very good way). Haitink is great, and of course Concertogebouw delivers the finest. Love it.
This year, I heard no.7 symphony 3times.
But this is undoutedly the best one.
The ©️oncertgebouw orchertra and maestro Haitink are the one of the best in the current world.🎉❤
It’s good , impressive
I don’t know about giving the ©️any credit for the Concertgebouws excellent achievement, I haven’t followed the money trail on that one.
Most likely these people have regular jobs and do this to be a part of something great.
The excitement of this performance is not created by speed or volume, but by fantastic texture. How much is the conductor, or the players, I can't say.
We're glad you liked it! :)
Mozart used to be my favorite composer, however I'm getting older Ludwig gets to feel much deeper than Mozart he's like chocolate cake.
Tears of joy rolling down my cheeks
I listen to this almost everyday and the feeling is same what a great performance by all the musicians and conductor ❤❤
O Beethoven you Beauty ❤️
Tears shall never be an argument in the discussion of classical music! I will try to dry up my own tears after writing his down!
Believe me this is great music at any time, but it's great for walking, especially that last movement.
Amen.
Ausgezeichnet
Haitink's conduction inspires me to learn music. Ecstactic.
¡Bravo! Qué maravilla...
My favourite. Beethoven is KING!!!!
