Jenny the lush of course had the motivation to help it grow. Plus a "celeb" name behind it helps too
Jenny is given a lot of flak, but she seems to make investments and generally see them through. She makes fewer offers and has a higher success rate. This one and the truck ads kid stand out in mind.

I’m not a gin-drinker but my Mrs is, and she loves this stuff. We have a few bottles in the house and she calls it her “nice Gin”.
Glad these lads got an investment. They were knowledgable and had a way of being assertive without being overbearing.

Ring up a distillery. Order X bottles with this flavouring added, Y bottles with that. Stick a name on it and a fancy label. Done.
Nothing craft about it and they've no intention of going to the trouble and expense of distilling their own.
It’s kind of smart though. They could replicate this all over, naming liquor after different towns and cities.
So can anyone else, many have tried, many have failed, they even discussed this in the video.
To be fair, it would be utter madness to have an idea of a local gin, then your first step is to open a distillery and find out how to distill gin. Makes much more sense to use a contract distillery to sound out the market. So that first step is not a bad one. As the Dragons pointed out, they need to start distilling for themselves asap.
@@AlanHope2013 I agree Alan. They were right to contract out the manufacturing at this stage of the business. It's very important for them to open their own distillery sooner, rather than later, but
@@Locutus Not happening. Jenny's £75k isn't doing much other than gaining her a third of the shares. They have managed to increase this to around half a million pound of investment... all they need is their financing facility to deal with the outsourced contracts costs and fulfilling any supermarket orders, as when their income rolls in for sold stock they simply pay off the finance. They don't have an office and the two founders work from home.
You can obviously set up a very DIY distillery for much closer to nothing but to purpose build or to refurbish an existing building for a distillery is going to be pretty pricey. Also, HMRC are a PITA to deal with and get a licence. I believe they subcontract out to Manchester Gin.
The only time Jenny makes an offer is when she's out of her mind

I love this show and every now and then there is a pitch that stands above the rest. They may have given more than they wanted to but in return they received the guidance and a hands on partner most people could only dream about. They definitely made the right choice.
I feel that when Jenny made the offer we could have done with a record scratch noise.

After watching Dragon's Den and Shark Tank from all around the world, including Spanish speaking lands, I have to say that there's a peculiar aura of elegance and prestige here that all these others lack.
I don't know if it's the posh English accent or the old heritage of the series. Perhaps both? Help me out guys. I need to understand.
I live in Canada now and their version is god awful, just wall to wall sob stories and charity investments
Totally agree with you. I live in Mexico and therefore I watch shark tank Mexico and it has the best investors in Latin America and is highly entertaining, nothing compares to dragons den. Less dramatic but, just better, don't know exactly why.
I'm not sure who you think has a posh English accent. None of the Dragons in this clip. Not Theo, not Duncan, James Caan is very well-spoken, Nick Jenkins might be a bit posh. In general these are all self-made millionaires. The accent is very much NOT on posh.

I think this series has more likable investors. Peter is direct and silly. Debrah is Debrah. Jenny is out. Tej is humble and Nick or Dunk are the odd man out.
I find these investors have their nose up in the air ! Not a one of them have more money then movie stars or athletes ! Their RUDE AND CRUDE ! I can't stand their accents I'm going back to shark tank U.S.

I have seen a lot of Dragons' Den, maybe not all, and this is the first time I would have taken Jenny had I been making the pitch. However I don't see how GBP75k is going to set up a distillery in Manchester or perhaps my knowledge of prices there is no longer accurate.

Currently selling Didsbury gin original and the manchester tart flavour and the manchester tart is probably one of the best sellers at my work
Jenny is rightfully a meme but I was proper happy for her getting this. She clearly had a passion for it and got just know that she would have worked really well with those guys. One of the most sure-fire successes I’ve seen in the den I am sure.
