- Here I feature in a Filipino car review the 2020 Honda CRV SX AWD Diesel, the top of the line model for the Philippines. This is a 7 seater SUV and is the most popular SUV in the Philippines. This is a complete review, including a drive impression at the 20 minute mark. Honda Philippines brought in this diesel variant, thus making a great SUV even better. The features are similar to the CRV in the US, except this one has a diesel engine. This also has the Honda Sensing Safety suite, and pretty much all the bells and whistles that Honda can cram into the CRV, justifying the price tag. This Honda CRV goes up against the likes of the Toyota RAV4, the Mazda CX5, and the Subaru Forester.

I still got my Honda CRV 2004 AWD -ALL WHEEL DRIVE. I drove 128000 Miles so far and still run like a Champ 👍 Never got stuck in the Alaska winter and Off Road !

We have a 2018 Honda CR-V V 1.6 Diesel FWD. Feels great to drive on twisty roads when using paddle shifters. Superior engine response, and fuel economy is very good.
I bought top of the line CRV last January and it's so impressive. It makes 18.5 km/liter in expressway @ 100/hr in cruise control. After 1-k of break in, I brought it in Baguio, Banaue, Mt Samat and Sagada. Torque is really impressive, I overtook several buses and SUVs in Marcos Highway and Helsema hwy. The brake hold is very useful especially in traffic downtown of Baguio and Manila. As what the manual said, its transmission is a CVT and not automatic that's why it comes with nine speed transmission. The only thing I don't like is the third row seat. I'm planning to remove it to get more cargo space. So far, I'm very happy with this suv although it's quite expensive, equivalent to $42,000.00.

@@tonyrock5313 I can, given that it's engine and underpinnings are based on the Volvo XC40. Geely own Volvo, Lotus and Proton, and not to forget that Chinese built today is not how they were built yesterday, they've come a long, long way from those early days...

The fake floor can but put on the upper slider so it levels with the 3rd row seat when its folded so you can put stuff
great review! it would have been nicer if you have asked the dealership to show you/us on how to swiftly lift the third-row seats to access the spare wheel. I wonder if the fake flooring could be lifted also to create a fully flat cargo space in the area. thanks and more power!

I bought exactly that kind of CRV last January and I love it. It is quite expensive though and its insurance as well. Since I don’t need the third row seat, I want to remove it one day to get more room for cargo. I want the car because it is diesel and that AWD because I want to reside in Baguio. I tested it in different roads to Baguio, Banaue, Sagada and Mt. Samat and I found its ability to climb is excellent. In TPLEX at 100 kph, fuel consumption is 18.5 Kpl.

My dream car
Don’t know why you fuss about missing a shift lever when the car is an automatic. You don’t have to shift and shouldn’t have to miss the lever. Once you select D or S, you should be good to go. Unless you typically use the shift lever to rest your hand on. More power to you and your channel.

Would like to have the option of buying this bad boy in British Columbia, Canada. Diesels are rare breeds here in 2020. Used Chevy Cruze and Equinox and GMC sister Terrain are all 5 seat vehicles. Hybrids and Plug in electrics but not many diesels. None in Toyota RAV4 or Honda CR-V like that one. Cheers. Salamat Ingat.

Ooh, that's a tough one. Here are the pros of each:
CX8: more spacious inside due to larger wheelbase, has 360 degree camera, better response in sport mode. Interior quality is a tad nicer .
CRV: panoramic sunroof, frugal fuel economy, nimble ride as well due to smaller form factor. Cheaper as well.
Drive-wise, both are quite engaging, the cx8 helped by good gear ratios while the crv has higher low end torque. You couldn't go wrong with either, just depends on your priorities.

CRV for space and # of seats, CX5 for driving engagement and ease of (free 3 year) maintenance. Depends on your priorities. 👍
We have 1, pero yung s variant since Im not a fan of sunroof and power tailgate mas maganda kung manual pa rin personal preference. In terms of look mas maporma tgnan ang crv kesa sa mazda cx-5. So far sobrang happy kami sa crv namin.

Ear Drop , yeah! If you put it in P, that’s the only time all doors can be opened. At 15kph, all doors will automatically lock.

Can i ask? The top of the line variant of CRV in philippines cost 40 to 41k usd, but the top of the line variant in usa which is the hybrid/touring cost 35 to 37k usd in usa. Why it cost more in PH?
We have higher taxes and tariffs on cars here.
CRV in the states with dual exhaust pipes are Petrol
Magnetti Marelli we also have petrol options here, will check if those come with dual exhaust pipes. Hopefully soon as our lockdown ends.

its so underpowered but good torque in city driving though, I got a fully loaded U.S. Touring which is ok for merging in highway speeds.
The diesel CRV has been clocked at 90km/hr and more.
I drove mine in TPLEX and I made 160kph and yet I didn’t push it all the way down. Perhaps if I have my radar detector, I can test the top speed of it. It’s not under power. I Overtook several cars and buses in Marcos Highway going up to Baguio and I am impress to its ability to climb. Only Ford Everest was the one who overtook me.
@@robinriviera4226you only got faster because you continously drove the highway the CR-V diesel is very underpowered especially in 0-60 in merging U.S. highways. I drove from Utah to Wyoming via I-80 and 100mph or 160kph is pretty normal in interstate highways.

Garner Libato, how can you say under power? First of all, there’s no CRV diesel in USA. The one you’re driving in I80 was CRV 1.5 gasoline engine. Yes, probably under power if you compare it to Toyota Highlander. Compare it to RAV 4, Mazda CX-5 and Ford Escape. It’s like boxing, they have different categories and this type is crossover from civic, Corolla and Mazda 3.

F FSome informations are inaccurate. I own a CRV SX ie; the back seat is very easy to lift idk why your having a hard time lifting it to access the spare tire, the “coffee” symbol is for driver attention monitoring system not for “if you wanna have coffee” wth?, those are actually volume butons -not touch sensitive buttons that you scroll up/down- infact, they are very easy to use., “phone controls” “Lane keep assist” “2nd row aircon vents”. I’ve driven most of the mainstream middle class cars -even luxury cars- this CRV SX surpasses all of them in everything. The only contender I think would be the Geely Coolray if it has a adaptive cruise and lane keep. Anyway Honda still sucks when it comes to repairs and service.
Thanks for the inputs Arkyn. Just to clarify, the 3 "inaccuracies" you pointed out are all comic relief portions of the video. All 3 were jokes I was making about the car's features. Notably "If you wanna have coffee" coz driver is probably sleepy, and I was "fingering" the touch sensitive volume controls. 🤣
@@ReygansRides Just to clarify this model you are reviewing is not a 2020 CRV SX rather a 2018 model thats why I got confused with your entire review ie: steering wheel controls are different between 2018 and 2020.
Arkyn Virtucio its a 2019/2020 model with Honda Sensing technology already. I did the review inside the showroom of Honda Greenhills, don’t you think it would be weird for them to display a “2018” model in 2020? You may be comparing the PH-spec CRV which is the car in the review vs the CRVs offered in the US, which has a different spec sheet and features.

Early iterations of CVT sounds like a whining child non-stop... because CVT's doesn't have gears... but you have to take note that according to a lot of journalists say that Honda makes arguably the best CVT that can somehow mimics gear shifting

Cx 5. I have that same unit and have driven the 2.2 awd diesel cx5 and it's more fun to drive better handling also. It all boils down to your preference.

Usually diesel engine is noisy and vibrate...
No vibrations felt, diesel noise can be heard while accelerating, but its not noisy.

I compared the noise level of CRV diesel to Fortuner and Grandia, it’s far quieter than those vehicles. Check it once you see a CRV diesel around you and compare to others.
