I'm a Doctor, (ER) 51 years old and I am you, when you started your research and your struggle with weight and menopause. I am listening to myself as you speak, what a De ja vu. We really are not taught anything about nutrition or menopause targeted care. All I know how to do is stop bleedings and put tubes in your holes. I switched to a desk job due to the stress and toll to my physical and emotional health. Thanks for your amazing contribution. I am learning more than I have in all my rotations and med school about nutrition and menopause.

For insulin resitant people, 20/ 4 or alternate day fasting if you can build up to it. Also varying your fasts keeps your metabolism revved. Your body will become efficient to adjust. One day 16/8, next day 23/1, next day 20/4, next day no fasting. Dr Mindy Pelz suggests this

Started IF last year at the age of 37. I’ve been in the perimenopause for about 3 years now. I was on thyroid medication and 4 months after starting the IF combined with healthy eating habits, I no longer needed the meds and my doctor took me off them! Also, I went down 3 dress sizes.

Just finished a 48 hour fast, and I felt amazing while fasting. I too did it for the health benefits. I am on no meds, approaching 57, my blood sugars I felt were too high in mid 90’s, and I eat healthy, now they are in the 80’s . I have 20 lbs to loose, and I feel stabilizing my blood sugars and decrease my spikes during the day will get me there. Thank you and I love your supplements and book ❤

Thank you so much for this video! So packed with vital Information. The only thing I consume during my fasting period is apple cider vinegar with lemon juice and a small amount of cinnamon in water. I don't believe that breaks a fast. A nutritionist recommended that I do 18-6 to help me lose weight as I'm almost 60 and have been in menopause for 5 years. I tried it for a while but it feels like it's too much, especially when I'm at work. Going to try 16/8 which I have done in the past. I want to lose weight, but more importantly I want to have overall health and if I can prevent anything like bone loss, osteoporosis or any of the more serious diseases that is my goal. I've been sedentary for quite a while but going to start incorporating walking and weight training into my life. You are so inspirational. I love nutrition and listening to you really inspires me. Thank you!❤️🙏❤️

I've been doing IF 16/8 since February 2023. I'll be 66 next month. I was blessed with a mother who knew about good nutrition raising my sister and myself, so I enjoy all good foods. About the cancer part... I saw the potential of fasting by myself in my own research with Drosophila melanogaster. Fasting in this model was very protective against the recurrence of cancer cells after chemotherapy, something I didn't know before the study, and at that time there were very few studies about it. Super cool!

I explanted in Dec 2021. Feeling much better now. But I was told for years my birth control was harming my hormones and thyroid.
I do want to start HRT. I thought Bio-identical was going to be best. I hear you say progesterone creams do not work. But I have seen them help myself.
Are the HRT estrogen patches the same as birth control pills? Is there harm for your body to have been on birth control pills for so long?

Unfortunately, if you are not already a patient, we cannot offer you individualized advice. We recommend that when you do start IF, the eating window is pushed back very slowly so the body can adjust. Everyone is different, but I recommend not rushing into it. If you feel you have stomach issues, you may want to consult your PCP.

Same has happened with me when fasting. I did 16/8 and I would ger lots of acid for not eating. I've seen PCP an GI. They suggested I take an acid reducer. I did fast for a year to lose weight and would break my fast with a protein shake. I'd drinkhalf before working out and 1/2 after. I'd eat eggs with veggies. I worked out, did HIIT , yoga pilates. I only lost 1 lb IN THAT ENTIRE YEAR!!! Did lose an inch on my waist and hips. Meals were pretty boring, grilled chix, fish and veggies. I would have a sweet on Saturday mornings.
So I'm stuck on what can work for me.

My main concern fasting is also my weight. I’m 5/7 8 stone. Been this weight for years. Always been underweight so it’s nothing new. I eat really well just never put weight on (apart from my belly) I’m concerned fasting will activate weight loss. Is it safe for those of us who are underweight? Thanks 🙏🏻

I’ve been doing 16:8 for years. I’m still gaining in spite of eating 80% clean, tracking my intake, being active (climbing stairs/walking during my work day), infrared sauna each morning and lifting 4-5 days a week. I’m 48 and have a 2 year old. I’ve read that if you are no longer hungry, your body isn’t using your fat stores. I’ve started doing 16:8 fasting 5 days a week instead but still no noticeable change in my weight and belly fat. I’m considering a 36 or 40 hour fast but I’m scared after hearing you say your body will start consuming muscle after 16 hours. I work so hard to maintain what I have so that scares me. Can your program help? I’ve gained 20 pounds since around age 40 even though I’m more diligent with diet. I’ve eliminated as many toxins as I can, eat almost entirely organic with minimal snacks/processed foods. I do the occasional pizza when on the go and an occasional beer or wine but it’s not often and I’ve noticed no difference when I do or don’t do these things. It’s like my body is fighting against me since my hormones started shifting. I have had regular cycles until this past few months. They have been goa few days longer and lost month skipped altogether. Will your program help even though there has been no difference with years of 16:8? Cellulite, loose skin and belly fat are my biggest concerns. I am otherwise healthy.

Ok, I’m in menopause and haven’t cycled in about 5 yrs. I did IF about 4 yrs ago w about a 16-17 hour fasting window and it took me 11 months to lose 21 of the 35-40 I need to lose. And then it just stopped working. THEN it started coming back!! I have continued IF inconsistently for the last 3 us but not w great results and I just do fasting to lower blood sugar and rest my gut sometimes. I would love to know how to get this to work! Nothing else has worked and if am seriously discouraged and worried about the dangerous belly fat I’m carrying. Not to mention uncomfortable, I’ve been fit all my life now I’m just exhausted.

I hope you can answer this question for me. I have not yet tried IF but I feel like I want to try. Thank you for saying it will take time to adjust. I can go for a bit in the morning without food but I really struggle to do a workout without any fuel in me. I feel weird and lightheaded if I do. I cannot workout later in the day. I must workout in the morning. How can I overcome that obstacle. I feel like I will fail and not be able to workout anymore. I really struggle with thinning straight when I am hungry or my blood sugar drops.
P.s.. i am 45 and have seen the changes in the last couple of years for the worse (pandemic probably exacerbated it!). I got really fit when I turned 40 but have gained 10 lbs back. Mostly belly fat and upper thighs. I can tell I am probably in peri menopause.

I fast in the evenings and do anywhere between an 18 hour to a 20 hour fast every day, so I'm usually done eating by 2 or 3pm. It was an adjustment for the first week or two, but for years now, I don't get hungry in the evenings, and I sleep like a baby not having to digest food while I sleep. I'm 47, blood work looks great, on zero medications, and am 118 lbs. So maybe consider changing your fasting window to fit in with your exercise routine as there are no rules that say you can't eat in the mornings and fast in the evenings.

Two weeks in and struggling with the whole “you need to adapt” concept, I went to 16/8. No food before noon. Period. I just said that was it from now on and stuck to it.

No disrespect to you, but this is really an individual phenomenon. I have done intermittent fasting for years with a healthy diet and, boom, I hit the ‘peri’ stage this year. When I do intermittent fasting, I swell up. Hormones are not universal- so I think it can be dangerous to say that the “studies prove”…. Not every woman fits into the criteria of those studies. Salt/electro water fast till you’re lean. Then move to a ketogenic diet coupled with 48 and 72 hour wet & Dry fasts. Whatever you can handle. Small windows for eating, high fat, low to no carbs, low protein until you’re lean then ramp up the protein. The health community needs to stop being so wishy washy on this. So many DR’s all so full of themselves bc mommy and daddy paid for more school or they went to school longer. People can read science journals and discover that fasting is a cure for obesity, and many other disease caused by stuffing your fat face. Just fast till you’re lean. You’ll feel amazing and the hormones will stabilize. Stop making it complicated, 99 percent of doctors want you to be sick and fat. It keeps their wallets fatter.
