lol, I love these videos where the screws are already loose, the tub comes out as easy as pie and there are no spiders, mice or roaches. 22 years experience and I can tell you they don't come apart that easily. :)

Thanks man. I replaced my washers clutch/ trans. Assembly due to that ratching noise when machine was agitating. 5 yr old machine is whisper quiet again. Part cost me $238 from Sunburg in Chicago. Watched your video after watching a few other crappy ones. YOU BROKE IT DOWN SUCCINCTLY! Many thanks. (I used wd 40 on bottom bolt of machine. Loosened up nicely after 30 min. )

Great video, I followed it step by step and replaced my clutch with no problems. One thing to mention ahead of time, when removing the the large nut on tub (Approx 4:34) in the video - the pipe wrench cannot be more than 12" long or it won't fit in the tub. All I had were 14" pipe wrenches but fortunately I had a 12" crescent that did the tick.

What about the sprocket that goes on before the stator and rotor? New clutch was not equipped with it, had to use the original one.
Did this repair and it is still noisy. Not as severe but noise still happens. Any ideas?

    • @morrisberengut4048

Have you tried wd-40 or another frozen nut loosener product like liquid wrench? Heat up the nut (not too hot) and apply - then let it sit for a day. Another thing to try is heat up the nut and when good and hot, you can spray the inside of the shaft with a pressurized cooling agent. You can use compressed dust blaster like they use for cleaning electronics. If you hold the can upside down, you'll get liquid out the nozzle that is really cold when it evaporates. Just don't breathe it in when you do that.

The naive finds this impressive. Not the slightest thoughts goes through his mind that this guy is taking apart a brand new machine.
Try to take that transmission out after it has been used for years with all the calcium and what not deposits on it.
    You need a plasma cutter.
By the way none of these experts show their talent with used ones. No one suspects it.

If you are replacing the clutch just take off the motor/stator and mounting screws for the clutch from the bottom and and once you have everything removed from inside beat on the motor shaft inside the washer until the motor drops out the bottom. Easy

This video makes the job look easy, IT ISN'T. I've done this repair on several machines. I suggest to everyone to see if you can get the agitator/wash plate/pulsator out then see if you can get the tub/basket out before buying any parts. IF you can get that far then proceed with buying a clutch assembly. Years of corrosion can stick these parts together like they were welded.

    • @dodgers9302

Agreed - this repair video was too easy. Presently taking a break while penetrating oil soaks on the center of the tub to try & lift it out.

My only problem, evidenced at 13:35 or so in the video, is how he demonstrates like a stupid wheel mounting jock at a tire shop. How do you risk crossing threads by starting a nut or bolt with the ratchet rather than starting it by hand first? FIX THAT because you're demonstrating to people who don't realize that risk. Really great video otherwise. Thanks.
